Decrepitation Thermometry and Compositions of Fluid Inclusions of the Damoqujia Gold Deposit,Jiaodong Gold Province,China:Implications for Metallogeny and Exploration显示文摘The recently discovered Damoqujia (大磨曲家) gold deposit is a large shear zone-hosted gold deposit of disseminated sulphides located in the north of the Zhaoping (招平) fault zone, Jiaodong (胶东) gold province, China. In order to distinguish the temperature range of cluster inclusions from different mineralization stages and measure their compositions, 16 fluid inclusions and 5 isotopic geochemistry samples were collected for this study. Corresponding to different mineralization stages, the multirange peaks of quartz decrepitation temperature (250-270, 310-360 and 380-430 ℃) indicate that the activity of ore-forming fluids is characterized by multistage. The ore-forming fluids were predominantly of high-temperature fluid system (HTFS) by CO2-rich, and SO42--K+ type magmatic fluid during the early stage of mineralization and were subsequently affected by low-temperature fluid system (LTFS) of CH4-rich, and Cl--Na+/Ca2+ type meteoric fluid during the late stage of mineralization. Gold is transferred by Au-HS- complex in the HTFS, and Au-Cl-complex can be more important in the LTFS. The transition of fluids from deeper to shallow environments results in mixing between the HTFS and LTFS, which might be one of the most key reasons for gold precipitation and large-scale mineralization. The ore-forming fluids are characterized by high-temperature, strong-activity, and superimposed mineralization, so that there is a great probability of forming large and rich ore deposit in the Damoqujia gold deposit. The main bodies are preserved and extend toward deeper parts, thereby suggesting a great potential in future. | 杨立强 邓军 张静 郭春影 高帮飞 龚庆杰 王庆飞 江少卿 于海军 | 2008 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2008,19,4: | 30
High-Pressure Eclogite-Blueschist Metamorphic Belt and Closure of Paleo-Tethys Ocean in Central Qiangtang, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau显示文摘The high-pressure metamorphic belt (HPMB) of eclogite-blueschist in Central Qiangtang (羌塘) lies in the Longmu Co (龙木错)-Shuanghu (双湖) suture zone. To the west, the HPMB extends 500 km from Hongjishan (红脊山) to Caiduochaka (才多茶卡), east of Shuanghu; to the east it extends to Baqing (巴青) and Jitang (吉塘) in Qamdo (昌都), and then bends southward to Yunnan (云南) Province. Including the Lancangjiang (澜沧江) blueschist belt, the entire HPMB is about 2 000 km long. In Central Qiangtang, the belt is mainly composed of blueschist and eclogite, whereas in West Yunnan it contains only blueschist. The Baqing-Jitang segment is dominated by garnet phengite schist. 40Ar-39Ar dating of glaucophane and phengite from the blueschists yielded plateau ages ranging from 223 to 215 Ma, whereas SHRIMP U-Pb dating of zircon from the eclogites gives metamorphic ages of 243–217 Ma. The calculated metamorphic conditions for the blueschists are 410–460 ℃ and 0.67–0.75 GPa, and for the eclogites, <500 ℃ and 1.56–2.35 GPa. The metamorphic ages suggest that the Longmu Co-Shuanghu suture closed in the Late Triassic. The region south of the Longmu Co-ShuanghuLancang suture consists of the pan-African basement overlain by Gondwana sedimentary and metasedimentary rocks, whereas the region north of the suture is dominated by the Jinning (晋宁) basement and Yangtze sedimentary and metasedimentary rocks. The Qiangtang HPMB marks the closure of the paleo-Tethys Ocean. | 李才 翟庆国 董永胜 刘燊 解超明 吴彦旺 | 2009 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2009,20,2: | 29
Edge Effect Correction in the S-A Method for Geochemical Anomaly Separation显示文摘Anomaly separation using geochemical data often involves operations in the frequency domain, such as filtering and reducing noise/signal ratios. Unfortunately, the abrupt edge truncation of an image along edges and holes (with missing data) often causes frequency distribution distortion in the frequency domain. For example, bright strips are commonly seen in frequency distribution when using a Fourier transform. Such edge effect distortion may affect information extraction results; sometimes severely, depending on the edge abruptness of the image. Traditionally, edge effects are reduced by smoothing the image boundary prior to applying a Fourier transform. Zero-padding is one of the most commonly used smoothing methods. This simple method can reduce the edge effect to some degree but still distorts the image in some cases. Moreover, due to the complexity of geoscience images, which can include irregular shapes and holes with missing data, zero-padding does not always give satisfactory results. This paper proposes the use of decay functions to handle edge effects when extracting information from geoscience images. As an application, this method has been used in a newly developed multifractal method (S-A) for separating geochemical anomalies from background patterns. A geochemical dataset chosen from a mineral district in Nova Scotia, Canada was used to validate the method. | Ge Yong Department of Earth and Atmospheric Science, York University, Toronto, ON, M3J 1P3, Canada State Key Laboratory of Resources and Environmental Information System, Institute of Geographic Sciences & Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100101, China Cheng Qiuming Department of Earth and Atmospheric Science, York University, Toronto, ON, M3J 1P3, Canada Earth Systems and Mineral Resource Engineering Lab, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074, China Zhang Shenyuan Department of Earth and Atmospheric Science, York University, Toronto, ON, M3J 1P3, Canada Department of Resource and Earth Science, China University of Mining & Technology, Beijing 100083, China | 2004 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2004,15,4: | 28
Dur’ngoi Ophiolite in East Kunlun, Northeast Tibetan Plateau: Evidence for Paleo-Tethyan Suture in Northwest China显示文摘The A’nyemaqen (阿尼玛卿) ophiolite belt along the southern margin of the East Kunlun (昆仑) Mountains marks the suture formed by the closure of paleo-Tethys. The Dur’ngoi ophiolite in the eastern part of this belt consists of meta-peridotite, mafic-ultramafic cumulates, sheeted dikes and basaltic lavas. The meta-peridotites consist of dunite, harzburgite, lherzolite, feldspar-bearing lherzolite and garnet-bearing lherzolite and contain residual spinel with Cr# [100×Cr/(Cr+Al)] ranging from 30 to 57 and Mg# [100×Mg/(Mg+Fe2+)] ranging from 50 to 75, indicating an Aland Mg-rich series. The meta-peridotites have a relatively narrow range of composition with Mg# of 89.2–92.6, Al2O3 contents of (1–4) wt.% and slightly depleted chondrite normalized REE patterns, indicating that they represent relict mantle material that has undergone intermediate to low degrees of partial melting. Garnets in the lherzolite are andradite, enriched in Ca and Fe and depleted in Mg and Al (And=95–97, Pyr=0.3–5, Gro=0–3), indicating a metamorphic origin. The cumulate rocks mainly consist of dunite, wehrlite, pyroxenite and gabbro. A well-layered gabbro-pyroxenite complex is defined by modal variations in plagioclase and pyroxene. Blocks of garnet-pyroxenite or rodingite are locally present in the meta-peridotites. Garnets in the cumulate rocks are grossular (Gro=69–90, And=9–19, Br=1–12), also metamorphic origin. The diabase dikes are moderately depleted in LREE [(La/Sm)N=0.5–0.8] and HREE resulting in slightly convex chondrite-normalized patterns with slightly positive Eu anomalies (δEu=1.1–1.3). The basaltic lavas have REE patterns similar to those of MORB with (La/Sm)N ratios of 0.5–1 and small negative Eu anomalies. They appear to have been derived from a depleted mantle source and to have undergone little or no differentiation during crystallization. SHRIMP U-Pb dating of zircons from the basalts yields 206Pb/238U ages of 276–319 Ma (average 308.0±4.9 Ma). The Dur’ngoi ophiolite is interpreted as a dismembered fragment of paleo-oceanic crust emplaced during closure of the paleo-Tethyan Ocean basin. Three other suites of oceanic lavas are recognized in the area: island arc volcanic (IAV) rocks, possible back arc basin (BAB) basalts and possible post-collisional volcanic (PCV) and plutonic rocks. The distribution of these rocks suggests north-directed subduction. Opening of the A’nyemaqen oceanic basin started at least as early as Late Carboniferous (308 Ma) and the basin probably closed during the Early Triassic. The IAV formed in Late Permian (260 Ma), the BAB in Early–Middle Triassic, and the PCV in Late Triassic. Several large scale, ductile, sinistral strike-slip fault zones, extending hundreds to thousands kilometers, formed along or north of the suture during the Early–Late Triassic, e.g., they are the south margin fault zone of East Kunlun (200–220 Ma), the Altyn Tagh fault (220–230 Ma), and the North Qaidam fault zone (240–250 Ma). These strike-slip faults were probably generated by oblique subduction and closure of the paleo-Tethyan Ocean basin, possibly during exhumation of the subducted plate or uplift of the overriding plate, coincident with post-collisional magmatism. | 杨经绥 史仁灯 吴才来 王希斌 Paul T Robinson | 2009 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2009,20,2: | 26
Lower Triassic Inorganic Carbon Isotope Excursion in Chaohu, Anhui Province, China显示文摘This paper reports a Lower Triassic inorganic carbon isotope profile from the North Pingdingshan Section in Chaohu, Anhui Province, China, which was situated in a deep part of the Lower Yangtze carbonate ramp. The δ ( 13 C) excursion shows two periods from the Permian Triassic boundary to the lower Spathian substage, corresponding to the ecosystem undergoing evolution and recovery after the end Permian mass extinction and related events. The first period starts at the δ ( 13 C) depletion caused by the mass extinction and evolves with a gradual δ ( 13 C) increase resulting from the development of some disaster taxa during the Induan. The strong Smithian δ ( 13 C) depletion in the second period might be formed by the collapse of the disaster ecosystem and the biotic recovery occurred with the explosive increase of bioproductivity in the Spathian. Thus the δ ( 13 C) excursion in the Lower Triassic expresses patterns of biotic evolution and recovery during the erratic ecosystem that followed the great end Permian mass extinction. | Tong Jinnan Qiu Haiou Zhao Laishi Zuo Jingxun China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074 | 2002 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2002,13,2: | 26
Petrogenesis of Mesozoic High-Mg Diorites in Western Shandong: Evidence from Chronology and Petro-geochemistry显示文摘The high-Mg diorites, widely occurring in western Shandong, have important implications in the study of the relationship between the Mesozoic magmatism and the nature of the lithosphere and its thinning period in the eastern North China craton (NCC). The Tietonggou and Jinling intrusions are typically representatives. LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating, major and trace element and Sr-Nd isotopic compositions of the Mesozoic intrusive rocks from western Shandong, eastern China, were analyzed. The weighted mean 206Pb/ 238U ages from LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating results for early norite-diorite, late pyroxene-diorite from the Tietonggou intrusion and biotite-diorite from the Jinling intrusion are (131.4±4.9) Ma(n=15), (134.5±2.3) Ma(n=13), and (132.8±4.2) Ma(n=12), respectively, implying that they were formed in the Early Cretaceous. The weighted mean 207Pb/ 206Pb ages for round zircons from late pyroxene-diorite in the Tietonggou intrusion is (2 513±54) Ma(n=8), suggesting that the basement of the North China craton should exist in the research area. The high-Mg diorites are characterized by enrichment in MgO, Na2O, and light rare earth elements (LREE), and they are poor in heavy rare earth elements (HREE) and high field strength elements (HFSE), being similar to adakite. The existence of the mantle peridotite xenoliths with a high-Mg feature for these intrusive rocks implies that their primary magma should be derived from the upper mantle. However, Sr-Nd isotopic compositions (I sr: 0.704 75-0.707 15; ε Nd(130 Ma) values: -3.95 to -13.30), depletion in HFSE, and the occurrence of Archean inherited zircons suggest that crustal materials could be involved in the derivation of the primary magma. The compositional difference between the diorites from the Tietonggou and Jinling intrusions could be attributed to those of magma sources and degrees of partial melting. The Early Cretaceous high-Mg diorites are considered to have been formed by the mixed melting of the delaminated lithosphere (lithospheric mantle + crust) and asthenosphere, based on their geochemistry, the mantle-derived xenoliths, and the Early Mesozoic lithospheric evolutionary history of the eastern North China craton. | Yang Chenghai Xu Wenliang Yang Debin Liu Changchun Liu Xiaoming Hu Zhaochu | 2005 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2005,16,4: | 24
Calculating Pollution Indices by Heavy Metals in Ecological Geochemistry Assessment and a Case Study in Parks of Beijing显示文摘Pollution index is a powerful tool for ecological geochemistry assessment. The commonly used pollution indices by heavy metals in soils and sediments were classified as two types of single index and integrated index in an algorithm point of view. Four single indices of contamination factor (or concentration factor), ecological risk factor, enrichment factor, and index of geo-accumulation were illustrated, and the reference values for calculating single indices were distinguished into background levels and threshold pollution values. Eight integrated indices were divided into two groups. One group is suitable for the normal distribution single indices including the sum, average, weighted average, vector modulus, and Nemerow pollution indices, and the other for log-normal distribution including the product, root of product, and weighted power product pollution indices. Using background levels as reference values, five contamination classes were divided, and the terminologies are suggested for the single and integrated indices to unify the assessment results. Software of EGAPI was developed in a single document interface to calculate the four single and eight integrated indices by heavy metals to assess the quality of soil and sediment ecological geochemistry. Pollution indices by heavy metals of Cu, Pb, and Zn in soils in parks of Beijing were calculated using EGAPI software, and these five contamination classes and terminologies suggested in this study were evaluated and used. Results of integrated indices of Cu, Pb, and Zn in soils indicated that the soil qualities are unpolluted as a whole and varied from low polluted to unpolluted status from the center to the outskirts of Beijing City. | 龚庆杰 邓军 向运川 王庆飞 杨立强 | 2008 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2008,19,3: | 23
Filling History and Post-Breakup Acceleration of Sedimentation in Baiyun Sag, Deepwater Northern South China Sea显示文摘The Baiyun (白云) sag in the southern Pearl River Mouth basin is the largest and deepest sag in deepwater northern South China Sea. Researches and exploration in this sag have revealed many distinct features of the sag. This article reports its filling history through backstripping of depth data of interpreted sequence boundaries. Maps of sediment rates of 10 sequences from 49 Ma to the present were constructed, showing the spatio-temporal variation of the sediment rate. Three stages of sediment infilling, 49-17.5 Ma, 17.5-10.5 Ma, and 10.5-0 Ma, were divided by abrupt changes of sedimentary patterns. If the breakup of the South China Sea took place at ~30 Ma, significant post-breakup accel-eration of sedimentation was observed at 17.5-15.5 Ma and 13.8-12.5 Ma, indicating acceleration of subsidence at these times. We propose that the onset of strong post-breakup subsidence at ~17.5 Ma was an important tectonic event that changed the pattern of sedimentation from discrete and medium-rate deposition centers in both main and south subsags to restricted but high-rate deposition in the main subsag. The cause and implications of this newly recognized event need to be investigated. | 周蒂 孙珍 廖杰 赵忠贤 何敏 吴湘杰 庞雄 | 2009 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2009,20,1: | 21
Mantle Input to the Crust in Southern Gangdese, Tibet, during the Cenozoic: Zircon Hf Isotopic Evidence显示文摘The Quxu (曲水) complex is a typical intrusive among the Gangdese batholiths. Two sets of samples collected from the Mianjiang (棉将) and Niedang (聂当) villages in Quxu County, including gabbro, mafic micro-enclaves (MME), and granodiorites in each set, were well dated in a previous SHRIMP zircon U-Pb analysis (47–51 Ma). In this article, the same zircons of the 6 samples were applied for LA ICP-MS Hf isotopic analysis. The total of 6 samples yields 176Hf/177Hf ratio ranging from 0.282 921 to 0.283 159, corresponding to εHf(t) values of 6.3–14.7. Their Hf depleted-mantle modal ages (TDM) are in the range of 137–555 Ma, and the zircon Hf isotope crustal model ages (TDMC) range from 178 to 718 Ma. The mantle-like high and positive εHf(t) values in these samples suggest a mantledominated input of the juvenile source regions from which the batholith originated. The large variations in εHf(t) values, up to 5-ε unit among zircons within a single rock and up to 15-ε unit among zircons from the 6 samples, further suggest the presence of a magma mixing event during the time of magma generation. We suggest that the crustal end-member involved in the magma mixing is likely from the ancient basement within the Lhasa terrane itself. The zircon Hf isotopic compositions further suggest that magma mixing and magma underplating at about 50 Ma may have played an important role in creating the crust of the southern Tibetan plateau. | 莫宣学 董国臣 赵志丹 朱弟成 周肃 | 2009 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2009,20,2: | 20

Unusual Mantle Mineral Group from Chromitite Orebody Cr-11 in Luobusa Ophiolite of Yarlung-Zangbo Suture Zone, Tibet显示文摘A wide variety of unusual mantle has been reported from podiform chromitite orebodies Cr-31 and Cr-74 in the Luobusa (罗布莎) ophiolite, Tibet. A detailed investigation of chromitite orebody Cr-11, located in the Kangjinla (康金拉) district at the eastern end of the ophiolite, has revealed many of the same minerals, including diamond, moissanite, and some native elements, alloys, oxides, sulphides, silicates, carbonates, and tungstates. This orebody is particularly rich in diamonds, with over 1 000 grains recovered from about 1 100 kg sample of chromitite. More detailed studies and experiments are needed to understand the origin and significance of these unusual minerals because they have not been found in situ. It is a great breakthrough in mineralogical research that we have picked up more than 40 kinds of minerals from the Kangjinla chromite deposit in Luobusa. It is notable that a large amount of diamonds were firstly discovered from the Kangjinla chromite deposit as well as many other unusual minerals, such as moissanites, rutiles, native irons, and metal alloys. Especially, that diamond was found again in different chromitites in the same ophiolite belt provided new key evidence for discussing the origin of the diamond and the hosted chromitite and ophiolite. The mantle mineral group in Tibet has great significance in mineralogy and geodynamics. | 徐向珍 杨经绥 陈松永 方青松 白文吉 巴登珠 | 2009 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2009,20,2: | 18
Response of Glacier and Lake Covariations to Climate Change in Mapam Yumco Basin on Tibetan Plateau during 1974-2003显示文摘The study of spatial and temporal covariances of glaciers and lakes would help us to understand the impact of climate change within a basin in Tibet. This study focuses on glacier and lake variations in the Mapam Yumco basin (covering 7 786.44 km2) by integrating series of spatial data from topographic maps and digital satellite images at four different times: 1974,1990,1999,and 2003. The results indicate that: (1) decreased lakes, retreated glaciers, enlarged lakes and advanced glaciers co-exist in the basin during the last 30 years; (2) glacier recession was accelerated in recent years due to the warmer climate; (3) lake areas in the basin are both reduced and enlarged by an accelerated speed with more water supplies from speeding melt glaciers or frozen ground in the last three decades. | 叶庆华 姚檀栋 陈锋 康世昌 张雪芹 王毅 | 2008 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2008,19,2: | 17

Application of Three-Dimensional Laser Scanning and Surveying in Geological Investigation of High Rock Slope显示文摘The appearance of 3D laser scanning technology is one of the most important technology revolutions in surveying and mapping field. It can be widely used in many interrelated fields, such as engineering constructions and 3D measurements, owing to its prominent characteristics of the high efficiency and high precision. At present its application is still in the initial state, and it is quite rarely used in China, especially in geotechnical engineering and geological engineering fields. Starting with a general introduction of 3D laser scanning technology, this article studies how to apply the technology to high rock slope investigations. By way of a case study, principles and methods of quick slope documentation and occurrence measurement of discontinuities are discussed and analyzed. Analysis results show that the application of 3D laser scanning technology to geotechnical and geological engineering has a great prospect and value. | 黄润秋 董秀军 | 2008 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2008,19,2: | 15
Some Suggested Future Directions ofQuantitative Resource Assessments显示文摘Future quantitative assessments will be expected to estimate quantities, values, and locations of undiscovered mineral resources in a form that conveys both economic viability and uncertainty associated with the resources. Historically, declining metal prices point to the need for larger deposits over time. Sensitivity analysis demonstrates that the greatest opportunity for reducing uncertainty in assessments lies in lowering uncertainty associated with tonnage estimates. Of all errors possible in assessments, these affecting tonnage estimates are by far the most important. Selecting the correct deposit model is the most important way of controlling errors because of the dominance of tonnage-deposit models are the best known predictors of tonnage. Much of the surface is covered with apparently barren rocks and sediments in many large regions. Because many exposed mineral deposits are believed to have been found, a prime concern is the presence of possible mineralized rock under cover. Assessments of areas with resources under cover must rely on extrapolation from surrounding areas, new geologic maps of rocks under cover, or analogy with other well-explored areas that can be considered training tracts. Cover has a profound effect on uncertainty and on methods and procedures of assessments because geology is seldom known and geophysical methods typically have attenuated responses. Many earlier assessment methods were based on relationships of geochemical and geophysical variables to deposits learned from deposits exposed on the surface-these will need to be relearned based on covered deposits. Mineral-deposit models are important in quantitative resource assessments for two reasons: (1) grades and tonnages of most deposit types are significantly different, and (2) deposit types are present in different geologic settings that can be identified from geologic maps. Mineral-deposit models are the keystone in combining the diverse geoscience information on geology, mineral occurrences, geophysics, and geochemistry used in resource assessments and mineral exploration. Grade and tonnage models and development of quantitative descriptive, economic, and deposit density models will help reduce the uncertainty of these new assessments. | Singer Donald A U. S. | 16 | Metallogenic Effect of Transition of Tectonic Dynamic System显示文摘Tectonic dynamic system transition, one of the main factors in metallogenesis, controls metallogenic fluid movement and ore body location in orefields and on an ore deposit scale (mainly in the continental tectonic setting), and even the formation and distribution of large-scale deposit clusters. Tectonic dynamic system transition can be classified as the spacious difference of the tectonic dynamic system in various geological units and the temporal alteration of different tectonic dynamic systems. The former results in outburst of mineralization, while the latter leads to the metallogenic diversity. Both of them are the main contents of metallogenic effect of tectonic dynamic system transition, that is, the alteration of dynamic system, the occurrence of mineralization, and the difference of regional tectonic dynamic system and metallogenic diversity. Generally speaking, the coupling of spatial difference of tectonic dynamic system and its successive alternation controlled the tempo-spatial evolution regularity of mineralization on a larger scale. In addition, the analysis of mineralization factors and processes of typical ore deposits proved that the changes of tectonic stress field, the direct appearance of tectonic dynamic system transition, may lead to the accident of mineralization physical-chemical field and the corresponding accidental interfaces were always located at ore bodies. | DengJun WangQingfei WeiYanguang WangJianping SunZhongshi YangLiqiang | 2004 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2004,15,1: | 15
U-Pb Zircon Ages,Geochemical and Sr-Nd-Hf Isotopic Compositions of Granitoids in Western Songpan-Garze Fold Belt:Petrogenesis and Implication for Tectonic Evolution显示文摘Granitoids are widespread in the Songpan-Garze (松潘-甘孜) fold belt, western China. These granitoids provide insight into regional tectono-magmatic events, basement nature and tectonic evolution. However, previous studies mainly focused on the eastern Songpan-Garze fold belt. In this ar-ticle,five granitoid intrusions from the western Songpan-Garze fold belt have been studied. These in-trusions are composed of quartz-diorite and granodiorite. Using LA-ICP-MS zircon dating method, the obtained magma crystallization ages are 219±2 Ma for the quartz-diorite and 216±5 Ma for the grano-diorite. The ages, combined with regional geological analyses, show that they formed in a post-collisional tectonic setting. The quartz-diorite and granodiorite display co-linear variation in their chemical compositions. REE compositions for both the quartz-diorite and granodiorite show strongly fractionated patterns with (La/Yb)N=5.02-18.34 and Eu/Eu*=0.44-0.89. The quartz-diorites have initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios (ISr) of 0.709 29-0.711 97 and εNd(t) values of -8.6 to -6.1 and the granodiorites have ISr values of 0.705 49-0.709 97 and εNd(t) values of -8.3 to -4.3. Zircon Hf isotopic data show εHf(t) values of -3.8 to +1.6 for the quartz-diorites and -1.2 to +3.0 for the granodiorites. Geochemical and Sr-Nd-Hf isotopic compositions indicate that the quartz-diorites and granodiorites have similar petrogenesis. We suggest that the magmas for the quartz-diorites and granodiorites were derived from partial melting of lower crustal mafic source, resulting from amphibole dehydration melting reaction. The probing of the magma source reveals that the western Songpan-Garze fold belt contains an unexposed continental basement, which is similar to the eastern Songpan-Garze fold belt. Geodynamically,it is proposed that a lithospheric delamination model can account for the magma generation for the quartz-diorites and granodiorites in the western Songpan-Garze fold belt. | 蔡宏明 张宏飞 徐旺春 | 2009 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2009,20,4: | 14
Patterns and Dynamics of Rifting on Passive Continental Margin from Shelf to Slope of the Northern South China Sea:Evidence from 3D Analogue Modeling显示文摘Affected by thermal perturbation due to mantle uprising, the rheological structure of the lithosphere could be modified, which could lead to different rifting patterns from shelf to slope in a pas-sive continental margin. From the observed deformation style on the northern South China Sea and analogue modeling experiments, we find that the rift zone located on the shelf is characterized by half grabens or simple grabens controlled mainly by long faults with large vertical offset, supposed to be formed with normal lithosphere extension. On the slope, where the lithosphere is very hot due to mantle upwelling and heating, composite grabens composed of symmetric grabens developed. The boundary and inner faults are all short with small vertical offset. Between the zones with very hot and normal lithosphere, composite half grabens composed of half grabens or asymmetric grabens formed, whose boundary faults are long with large vertical offset, while the inner faults are relatively short. Along with the thickness decrease of the brittle upper crust due to high temperature, the deformation becomesmore sensitive to the shape of a pre-existing weakness zone and shows orientation variation along strike. When there was a bend in the pre-existing weakness zone, and the basal plate was pulled by a clockwise rotating stress, the strongest deformation always occurs along the middle segment and at the transition area from the middle to the eastern segments, which con-tributes to a hotter lithosphere in the middle segment, where the Baiyun (白云) sag formed. | 孙珍 周蒂 吴世敏 钟志洪 Myra Keep 姜建群 樊浩 | 2009 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2009,20,1: | 14
Ultramafic Blocks in Sumdo Region, Lhasa Block, Eastern Tibet Plateau: An Ophiolite Unit显示文摘Recently, an over 100 km long MORB-type eclogite belt of Permian was discovered in the Sumdo (松多) region of the Lhasa block, Tibet. A critical question thus is: what is the tectonic setting of the eclogite belt and is it related to an unrecognized suture in the region? Further investigations show that there are some mafic and ultramafic rocks spacially associated with the eclogite belt in the region. Three ultramafic massifs were recognized in the Sumdo region, and called the Luomaling (罗马岭), Gongbupala (贡布爬拉) and Qiazhasumdo (卡扎松多) massifs. All the massifs are fault-contacted with greenschist (Chasagang (岔萨岗) Formation) or muscovite-quartz schist (Mabuku (马布库) Formation), and individuals are about 100 m×50 m in size extending in EW as the regional structure. All the ultramafic rocks have been entirely serpentinized, and the Gongbupala massif has been selected for study in geochemistry. Eleven chemical analyses of the rocks from the Gongbupala massif show a narrow range in contents: SiO2 (35.97–40.63) wt.%, MgO (37.02–38.60) wt.%, TiO2 (0.01–0.08) wt.%, Al2O3 (0.80–1.64) wt.%, (Na2O+K2O) less than 0.1 wt.%, with high volatile contents (H2O+CO2) (11.24–14.91) wt.%. After recalculation without H2O+CO2, the mean values are SiO2 45.24 wt.%, MgO 43.54 wt.%, FeOT (7.45–9.97) wt.% (8.55 wt.% in average), (MgO+FeOT) 52.09 wt.%, Mg# (100×Mg/(Mg+Fe*), where Fe* represents total Fe)=89.42–90.08, (m+f)/Si ((atomicity Mg+atomicity Fe) /atomicity Si)=1.53–1.75 (1.59 in average), respectively. The mean M/F (atomicity Mg/atomicity Fe) ratio of the rocks is 9.05, which is classified as magnesium enriched-type of ultramafic rocks. The compositional features, depleted in K, Na, Ca, Al and Ti and enriched in Mg#, indicate the characteristics of peridotite originated from a depleted mantle. The rocks have low ∑REE with (1.60–2.68)×10-6 similar to those of the primitive mantle. The chondrite-normalized REE patterns of all samples show slightly enrichment in LREE, with (Ce/Yb)N 1.03–2.46, but a little depleted in HREE. Most samples show a slight negative anomaly in Eu, a feature in REE from a relic mantle and common features in highly serpentinized ultramafic rocks in the Yarlung-Zangbo (雅鲁藏布) ophiolite and the Bangong (班公)-Nujiang (怒江) ophiolite in Tibet. The primitive mantle-normalized spiderdiagram of trace elements for Gongbupala ultramafic rocks yields uniform distributed pattern. They are relatively enriched in Rb, Ba, La, P element (LHSE) and depleted in Sm, Ti, Y, Yb element (HFSE), a feature of metasomatic mantle peridotite. The geochemical features of the rocks suggest that the protolith of Gongbupala serpentinite in Sumdo region is harzburgite, a typical depleted mantle rock, and may represent a dismembered ophiolite unit in the region. | 陈松永 杨经绥 李源 徐向珍 | 2009 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2009,20,2: | 14
Characteristics and Formation Mechanism of Polygonal Faults in Qiongdongnan Basin, Northern South China Sea显示文摘Based on high-resolution 3D seismic data, we document the polygonal faults within the Miocene Meishan (梅山) Formation and Huangliu (黄流) Formation of the Qiongdongnan (琼东南) ba-sin, northern South China Sea. Within the seismic section and time coherent slice, densely distributed extensional faults with small throw and polygonal shape were identified in map view. The orientation of the polygonal faults is almost isotropic, indicating a non-tectonic origin. The deformation is clearly layer-bounded, with horizontal extension of 11.2% to 16%, and 13.2% on average. The distribution of polygonal faults shows a negative correlation with that of gas chimneys. The development of polygonal faults may be triggered by over-pressure pore fluid which is restricted in the fine-grained sediments of bathyal facies when the sediments is compacted by the burden above. The polygonal faults developed to balance the volumetric contraction and restricted extension. The product of hydrocarbon in the Meishan Formation may have contributed to the development of the polygonal faults. In the study area, it was thought that the petroleum system of the Neogene post-rift sequence is disadvantageous because of poor migration pathway. However, the discovery of polygonal faults in the Miocene strata, whichmay play an important role on the fluid migra-tion, may change this view. A new model of the petroleum system for the study area is proposed. | 孙启良 吴时国 姚根顺 吕福亮 | 2009 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2009,20,1: | 13
