| 1 | Cardiopulmonary resuscitation knowledge and attitude among general dentists in Kuwait显示文摘BACKGROUND: Dentists as health care providers should maintain a competence in resuscitation. This cannot be overemphasized by the fact that the population in our country is living longer with an increasing proportion of medically compromised persons in the general population. This preliminary study aimed to assess the knowledge and attitude of general dentists towards cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR).METHODS: A cross-sectional study was carried out among 250 licensed general dental practitioners working in ministry of health. Data were obtained through electronic self-administered questionnaire consisting of demographic data of general dentists, and their experience, attitude and knowledge about CPR based on the 2010 American Heart Association guidelines update for CPR.RESULTS: Totally 208 general dentists took part in the present study giving a response rate of 83.2%. Only 36% of the participants demonstrated high knowledge on CPR, while 64% demonstrated low knowledge. Participants' age, gender, nationality, years of experience, career hierarchy, and formal CPR training were associated significantly with CPR knowledge. Almost all the participants(99%) felt that dentists needed to be competent in basic resuscitation skills and showed a positive attitude towards attending continuing dental educational programs on CPR.CONCLUSION: This study showed that majority of general dental practitioners in Kuwait had inadequate knowledge on CPR. It was also found that CPR training signi? cantly in? uenced the CPR knowledge of the participants. | 2 | Reaction kinetic model for a recent co-produced water treatment technology显示文摘With the increasing demand for fossil fuels based energy and implementation of progressively strict environmental pollution control standards,treatment of a large amount of co-produced waters (CPWs) from fossil based energy production has become increasingly important.Removal of bicarbonate with H 2 SO 4 has been recently studied as a simple and cost-effective method to decrease the alkalinity of CPWs.The present work investigates the kinetics of the reaction between H 2 SO 4 and NaHCO 3,which could provide the base for scaling-up the CPW treatment technology.Based on the measured quantity change of the CO 2 gas generated from the reaction between H 2 SO 4 and NaHCO 3 with time under specified initial reaction conditions,the reaction orders with respect to H 2 SO 4 and NaHCO 3 were determined.Experiments were also conducted within the temperature of 15-30°C to find various global rate coefficients of the reaction to calculate the activation energy and the pre-exponential factor of the empirical Arrhenius form of the bicarbonate removal reaction,which are 197.7 kJ/mol and 3.13× 10 34 (mol 3.7 ×L 3.7 ×sec 1),respectively. | Abdulwahab M Ali Tuwati Mark A.Bentley | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011，23，3： | 4 |
| 3 | Profiling of seed fatty acid composition in 1025 Chinese soybean accessions from diverse ecoregions显示文摘The stability of soybean(Glycine max L.Merrill)oil is determined mainly by its fatty acid(FA)composition.We evaluated the FA composition of 1025 Chinese soybean accessions collected from diverse ecoregions and grown in multiple locations and years.We observed highly significant differences(P<0.001)between accessions in palmitic acid(PA),stearic acid(SA),oleic acid(OA),linoleic acid(LA),and linolenic acid(LNA)contents.Growth year affected(P<0.001)the abundance of all FAs except PA.The mean PA,SA,OA,LA,and LNA contents were 12.2%,3.8%,21.5%,54.2%,and 8.3%,respectively.The geographical origin of the accession influenced seed FA composition,indicating that accessions originating in each ecoregion tend to have distinct FA composition.We observed significant positive correlations among the three locations and between the two years,suggesting the high heritability and stability of individual accessions across contrasting environments.We also observed a relatively high negative correlation between the contents of OA and both LA and LNA(r=-0.90 and-0.59,respectively,each significant at P<0.001),providing a potential entry point for developing strains producing oil with higher OA and lower LA and LNA levels.These would be appropriate for specialized use in the food industry.Our results will be useful in breeding soybean with improved quality to meet human nutritional and industrial needs. | Ahmed M.Abdelghany Shengrui Zhang Muhammad Azam Abdulwahab S.Shaibu Yue Feng Yanfei Li Yu Tian Huilong Hong Bin Li Junming Sun | 2020 | The Crop Journal2020，8，4： | 4 |
| 4 | 'To-and-fro' waveform in the diagnosis of arterial pseudoaneurysms显示文摘Medical ultrasound imaging with Doppler plays an essential role in the diagnosis of vascular disease. This study intended to review the clinical use of 'to-and-fro' waveform at duplex Doppler ultrasonography(DDU) in the diagnosis of pseudoaneurysms in the arterial vessels of upper and lower extremities, abdominal aorta, carotid and vertebral arteries as well as to review our personal experiences of 'to-and-fro' waveform at DDU also. After receiving institutional review board approval, an inclusive literature review was carried out in order to review the scientific foundation of 'toand-fro' waveform at DDU and its clinical use in the diagnosis of pseudoaneurysms in various arterial vessels. Articles published in the English language between 2000 and 2013 were evaluated in this review study. Pseudoaneurysms in arterial vessels of the upper and lower extremities, abdominal aorta, carotid and vertebral arteries characterized by an extraluminal pattern of blood flow, which shows variable echogenicity, interval complexity, and 'to-and-fro' flow pattern on color Doppler ultrasonography. In these arterial vessels, Duplex ultrasonography can demonstrate the degree of clotting, pseudoaneurysm communication, the blood flow patterns and velocities. Spectral Doppler applied to pseudoaneurysms lumen revealed systolic and diastolic turbulent blood flow with traditional 'toand-fro' waveform in the communicating channel. Accurate diagnosis of pseudoaneurysm by spectral Doppler is based on the documentation of the 'to-andfro' waveform.
