1A LINEAR THEORY FOR DISTURBANCE OF COHERENT STRUCTURE AND MECHANISM OF SAND WAVES IN OPEN-CHANNEL FLOW显示文摘The formation of sand wave is such a process in which the roughness and discontinuity of the original bed surface cause the disturbance of the bottom laminar flow in an open channel, and the development of the disturbance in turn leads to instability of the flow and the appearance of the coherent structure. The evolution and development of the coherent structure further promote the undulations of bed surface and sand waves rise finally. The sand wave is explained as a result of action that the bed sediment particles are disturbed by the coherent structure. 2THREE DIMENSIONAL MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF SEDIMENT TRANSPORT IN ESTUARINE REGIONS-A CASE STUDY OF THE HAIHE RIVER MOUTH显示文摘A 3-D numerical model for simulating tidal flow and sediment transport in the estuarine regions is presented in this paper. The model adopts -coordinate system and carries out -coordinate transformation to the basic equations, which ensure that all horizontal area has equal numbers of calculation points in vertical direction, this method provides higher distinguishable rate to the flow and sediment transport. Under the -coordinate system, the Galerkin finite-element method is applied for horizontal domain by using a new specially interpolating shape functions, while a finite difference approximation is employed over depth. The model can be used even in the situations with a considerable variety in the water depth in the computational domain. The model is verified by a test for which analytical solutions are available and then applied to simulate the tidal current and sediment transport of the Haihe River Mouth. A modeling system of sediment transport is established for applying to muddy estuary of North China. 3NUMERICAL STUDY FOR EVOLUTION OF COHERENT VORTEX IN UNIDIRECTIONAL OSCILLATORY BOUNDARY LAYER OVER SAND RIPPLES显示文摘Ripples are widely formed in river channels and coastal regions, the bed-forms and vortex dynamics accompanied with them are quite important because they are responsible for frictions and sediment transports. The coherent vortex structure play a key role in the process, so how to model them is needed for understanding the formation process of sand ripples. In this paper, 2D Large-Eddy-Simulation (LES) was used to predict the flow structure and the dynamics of coherent vortex. 4Late Quaternary diatom and sea level changes in estuarine plain of the Jiulong River显示文摘Four units and twenty-four zones of diatom have been discerned in the Borehole ZK5 in the estuarine plain of the Jiulong River, Fujian Province. Comprehensive analysis of these, together with microbiological assemblages and age determinations in some other boreholes, shows that during the Late Wurm Glacial, sea level of the study area rose and fell frequently, but had principally been in the environments of estuary-bay. This mainly resulted from the tectonic subouction. In this period 3 low sea levels occurred. at 18, 16 and 12 kaBP respectively. 11Helium isotope investigation on magnetic reversal boundaries of loess-paleosol sequence at Luochuan, central Chinese Loess Plateau显示文摘Extraterrestrial particles have higher 3He/4He ratios than those of terrestrial sediments ( > 100 Ra versus < 0.03 Ra, where Ra is the 3He/4He ratio normalized to the atmospheric value of 1.4×10?6). The inter- planetary dust particles (IDPs), which are very rich in 3He, continuously bombard the Earth and can accumulate in deposits. IDPs sedimentation rate changes can significantly influence 3He concentration in the Earth surface sediments. Since IDPs are not easy to detect in terrestrial deposits, measuring helium isotopes is a helpful approach to examine changes in IDPs. Helium concentration and helium isotopic composition magnetic substances and the quartz particles were examined for helium concen- tration and helium isotopic ratio. Results show that the 3He/4He ratio and the 3He concentrations of the magnetic substances are clearly higher than those of the bulk samples and the quartz particles, and, the 3He/4He ratio of the extracted magnetic substances is also higher than that of the average level of the Earth’s crust.
