1Obstructive jaundice due to hepatobiliary cystadenoma or cystadenocarcinoma显示文摘Hepatobiliary cystadenomas (HBC) and cystadenocarci- nomas are rare cystic lesions. Most patients with these lesions are asymptomatic, but presentation with ob- structive jaundice may occur. The first patient presented with intermittent colicky pain and recurrent obstructive jaundice. Imaging studies revealed a polypoid lesion in the left hepatic duct. The second patient had recurrent jaundice and cholangitis. Endoscopic retrograde cholan- giopancreatography (ERCP) showed a cystic lesion at the confluence of the hepatic duct. In the third patient with intermittent jaundice and cholangitis, cholangioscopy re- vealed a papillomatous structure protruding into the left bile duct system. In the fourth patient with obstructive jaundice, CT-scan showed slight dilatation of the intrahe- patic bile ducts and dilatation of the common bile duct of 3 cm. ERCP showed filling of a cystic lesion. All patients underwent partial liver resection, revealing HBC in the specimen. In the fifth patient presenting with obstructive jaundice, ultrasound examination showed a hyperecho- genic cystic lesion centrally in the liver. The resection specimen revealed a hepatobiliary cystadenocarcinoma. HBC and cystadenocarcinoma may give rise to obstruc- tive jaundice. Evaluation with cross-sectional imaging techniques is useful. 2Expression of COX-2, PCNA, Ki-67 and p53 in gastrointestinal stromal tumors and its relationship with histopathological parameters显示文摘AIM: To investigate the expression of Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), Ki-67 and p53 in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and its relationship with histopathological parameters. METHODS: Twenty-five GISTs were examined by light microscopy and immunohistochemistry. c-kit, CD34, SMA, S-100 protein, COX-2, PCNA, Ki-67 and p53 were detected immunohistochemically and the relationship was evaluated among histopathologic parameters such as mitotic index (MI), tumor grade, tumor size, COX-2, PCNA, Ki-67 and p53. RESULTS: COX-2 protein expression was found in 19 of 25 (76%) of the tumors, and expression was noted in the cytoplasm of the tumor cells. p53 was significantly related to MI and tumor grade but no relationship was found between COX-2, proliferation markers and MI, tumor grade and tumor size. CONCLUSION: COX-2 is expressed in most GISTs and it may play an important role in the proliferation and progression of these tumors or a useful marker to identify GIST. 3Results of percutaneous sclerotherapy and surgical treatment in patients with symptomatic simple liver cysts and polycystic liver disease显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the results of the treatment of simple liver cysts (solitary and multiple) and polycystic liver disease (PLD) using percutaneous sclerotherapy and/or surgical procedures in a single tertiary referral centre. METHODS: Retrospective analysis of 54 patients referred for evaluation and possible treatment of simple liver cysts (solitary and multiple) and PLD, from January 1997 to July 2006. RESULTS: Simple liver cysts were treated in 41 pts (76/) with a mean size of 12.6 cm. The most common reason for referral was abdominal pain or discomfort (85/). Percutaneous sclerotherapy was performed as initial treatment in 30 pts, showing cyst recurrence in 6 pts (20/). Surgical treatment was initially performed in 11 pts with cyst recurrence in 3 pts (27/). PLD was treated in 13 pts (24/) with a mean size of the dominant cyst of 13 cm. Percutaneous sclerotherapy for PLD was performed in 9 pts with recurrence in 7 pts (77.8/). Surgical treatment for PLD was undertaken in 4 pts (30.8/) with recurrence in all. Eventually, 2 pts with PLD in the presence of polycystic kidney disease underwent liver-and kidney transplantation because of deterioration of liver and kidney function. CONCLUSION: The majority of patients with simple liver cysts and PLD are referred for progressive abdominal pain. As initial treatment, percutaneous sclerotherapy is appropriate. Surgical deroofing is indicated in caseof cyst recurrence after percutaneous sclerotherapy. However, the results of percutaneous sclerotherapy and surgical treatment for PLD are disappointing. 4Pulmonary involvement in inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘AIM:To determine the relationship of pulmonary abnormalities and bowel disease activity in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).METHODS:Thirty ulcerative colitis(UC)and nine Crohn's disease patients,and 20 control subjects were enrolled in this prospective study.Detailed clinical information was obtained.Extent and activity of the bowel disease were established endoscopically.Each patient underwent pulmonary function tests and high-resolution computed tomography(HRCT).Blood samples for measurement of C-reactive protein(CRP),erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),angiotensin converting enzyme and total IgE were delivered by the patients.RESULTS:Ten(25.6%)patients had respiratory symptoms.A pulmonary function abnormality was present in 22 of 39 patients.Among all patients,the most prevalent abnormalities in lung functions were a decrease in forced expiratory volume in 1 s(FEV1),FEV1/forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory flow(FEF)25%-75%,transfer coefficient for carbon monoxide(DLCO),DLCO/alveolar volume.Increased respiratory symptoms score was associated with high endoscopic activity index in UC patients.Endoscopic and clinical activities in UC patients were correlated with FEV1,FEV1/FVC,and FEF 25%-75%.Smoking status,duration of disease and medication were not correlated with pulmonary physiological test results,HRCT abnormalities,clinical/endoscopic disease activity,CRP,ESR or total IgE level or body mass index.CONCLUSION:It is important that respiratory manifestations are recognized and treated early in IBD.Otherwise,they can lead to destructive and irreversible changes in the airway wall.Aydin Yilmaz Nilgün Yilmaz Demirci Derya Hosgün Enver ner Yurdanur Erdogan Atila Gkek Atalay aglar 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,39:15
5Ameliorative effects of bombesin and neurotensin on trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid-induced colitis,oxidative damage and apoptosis in rats显示文摘AIM:To investigate the effects of bombesin (BBS) and neurotensin (NTS) on apoptosis and colitis in an ulcerative colitis model. METHODS:In this study, a total of 50 rats were divided equally into 5 groups. In the control group, no colitis induction or drug administration was performed. Colitis was induced in all other groups. Following the induction of colitis, BBS, NTS or both were applied to three groups of rats. The remaining group (colitis group) received no treatment. On the 11th d after induction of colitis and drug treatment, blood samples were collected for TNF-α and IL-6 level studies. Malondialdehyde (MDA), carbonyl, myeloperoxidase (MPO) and caspase-3 activities, as well as histopathological findings, evaluated in colonic tissues. RESULTS:According to the macroscopic and microscopic findings, the study groups treated with BBS, NTS and BBS + NTS showed significantly lower damage and inflammation compared with the colitis group (macroscopic score, 2.1 ± 0.87, 3.7 ± 0.94 and 2.1 ± 0.87 vs 7.3 ± 0.94;microscopic score, 2.0 ± 0.66, 3.3 ± 0.82 and 1.8 ± 0.63 vs 5.2 ± 0.78, P < 0.01). TNF-α and IL-6 levels were increased significantly in all groups compared with the control group. These increases were significantly smaller in the BBS, NTS and BBS + NTS groups compared with the colitis group (TNF-α levels, 169.69 ± 53.56, 245.86 ± 64.85 and 175.54 ± 42.19 vs 556.44 ± 49.82;IL-6 levels, 443.30 ± 53.99, 612.80 ± 70.39 and 396.80 ± 78.43 vs 1505.90 ± 222.23, P < 0.05). The colonic MPO and MDA levels were significantly lower in control, BBS, NTS and BBS + NTS groups than in the colitis group (MPO levels, 24.36 ± 8.10, 40.51 ± 8.67 and 25.83 ± 6.43 vs 161.47 ± 38.24;MDA levels, 4.70 ± 1.41, 6.55 ± 1.12 and 4.51 ± 0.54 vs 15.60 ± 1.88, P < 0.05). Carbonyl content and caspase-3 levels were higher in the colitis and NTS groups than in control, BBS and BBS + NTS groups (carbonyl levels, 553.99 ± 59.58 and 336.26 ± 35.72 vs 209.76 ± 30.92, 219.76 ± 25.77 and 220.34 ± 36.95;caspase-3 levels, 451.70 ± 68.27 and 216.20 ± 28.17 vs 28.60 ± 6.46, 170.50 ± 32.37 and 166.50 ± 30.95, P < 0.05). 6CO_(2) utilization: Developments in conversion processes显示文摘Carbon dioxide capture,utilization and storage(CCUS)eincluding conversion to valuable chemicals-is a challenging contemporary issue having multi-facets.The prospect to utilize carbon dioxide(CO_(2))as a feedstock for synthetic applications in chemical and fuel industries-through carboxylation and reduction reactions-is the subject of this review.Current statute of the heterogeneously catalyzed hydrogenation,as well as the photocatalytic and electrocatalytic activations of conversion of CO_(2) to value-added chemicals is overviewed.Envisaging CO_(2) as a viable alternative to natural gas and oil as carbon resource for the chemical supply chain,three stages of development;namely,(i)existing mature technologies(such as urea production),(ii)emerging technologies(such as formic acid or other single carbon(C1)chemicals manufacture)and(iii)innovative explorations(such as electrocatalytic ethylene production)have been identified and highlighted.A unique aspect of this review is the exploitations of reactions of CO2 ewhich stems from existing petrochemical plants-with the commodity petrochemicals(such as,methanol,ethylene and ethylene oxide)produced at the same or nearby complex in order to obtain value-added products while contributing also to CO_(2) fixation simultaneously.Exemplifying worldwide ethylene oxide facilities,it is recognized that they produce about 3 million tons of CO2 annually.Such a CO_(2) resource,which is already separated in pure form as a requirement of the process,should best be converted to a value-added chemical there avoiding current practice of discharging to the atmosphere.The potential utilization of CO_(2),captured at power plants,should also been taken into consideration for sustainability.This CO_(2) source,which is potentially a raw material for the chemical industry,will be available at sufficient quality and at gigantic quantity upon realization of on-going tangible capture projects.Products resulting from carboxylation reactions are obvious conversions.In addition,provided that enough supply of energy from non-fossil resources,such as solar[1],is ensured,CO_(2) reduction reactions can produce several valuable commodity chemicals including multi-carbon compounds,such as ethylene and acrylic acid,in addition to C1 chemicals and polymers.Presently,there are only few developing technologies which can find industrial applications.Therefore,there is a need for concerted research in order to assess the viability of these promising exploratory technologies rationally.Erdogan Alper Ozge Yuksel 2017Petroleum2017,3,1:13
7A fast and efficient coordinated vehicle-to-grid discharging control scheme for peak shaving in power distribution system显示文摘This study focuses on the potential role of plugin electric vehicles(PEVs) as a distributed energy storage unit to provide peak demand minimization in power distribution systems. Vehicle-to-grid(V2 G) power and currently available information transfer technology enables utility companies to use this stored energy. The V2 G process is first formulated as an optimal control problem.Then, a two-stage V2 G discharging control scheme is proposed. In the first stage, a desired level for peak shaving and duration for V2 G service are determined off-line based on forecasted loading profile and PEV mobility model. In the second stage, the discharging rates of PEVs are dynamically adjusted in real time by considering the actual grid load and the characteristics of PEVs connected to the grid. The optimal and proposed V2 G algorithms are tested using a real residential distribution transformer and PEV mobility data collected from field with different battery and charger ratings for heuristic user case scenarios. The peak shaving performance is assessed in terms of peak shaving index and peak load reduction. Proposed solution is shown to be competitive with the optimal solution while avoiding high computational loads. 9Comparison of the effects of bevacizumab and ranibizumab injection on corneal angiogenesis in an alkali burn induced model显示文摘·AIM:To investigate the effects of bevacizumab and ranibizumab on corneal neovascularization in an alkali burn-induced model of corneal angiogenesis. ·METHODS:Fifteen Wistar-Albino rats were divided randomly into 3 groups after chemical cauterization of the cornea. The first group received a single dose of 0.1mL saline solution as a control group whereas second and third groups received a single dose of 2.5mg bevacizumab or 1mg ranibizumab by subconjunctival injection, respectively. After three weeks, the rat corneas were evaluated by biomicroscopy and corneal photographs were taken. The percentage of neovascularization area, length of the longest new vessel, corneal oedema and corneal opacity scores were assessed. ·RESULTS:The analysis of digital photographs showed that the percentage of neovascularization area to the total corneal area, the length of the longest new vessel, corneal oedema and opacity scores were significantly lower in both study groups compared to the control group (P <0.05). Additionally, the percentage of corneal neovascularization area, the length of the longest new vessel and corneal opacity score were less with bevacizumab than ranibizumab. ·CONCLUSION:Subconjunctival bevacizumab and ranibizumab treatments may be effective methods in reducing corneal neovascularization. 10Solid amine sorbents for CO_(2) capture by chemical adsorption: A review显示文摘Amines are well-known for their reversible reactions with CO_(2),which make them ideal for CO_(2) capture from several gas streams,including flue gas.In this respect,selective CO_(2) absorption by aqueous alkanolamines is the most mature technology but the process is energy intensive and has also corrosion problems.Both disadvantages can be diminished to a certain extent by chemical adsorption of CO_(2) selectively.The most important element of the chemical adsorption of CO_(2) involves the design and development of a suitable adsorbent which consist of a porous support onto which an amine is attached or immobilized.Such an adsorbent is often called as solid amine sorbent.This review covers solid amine-based studies which are developed and published in recent years.First,the review examines several different types of porous support materials,namely,three mesoporous silica(MCM-41,SBA-15 and KIT-6)and two polymeric supports(PMMA and PS)for CO_(2) adsorption.Emphasis is given to the synthesis,modifications and characterizations-such as BET and PXRD data-of them.Amination of these supports to obtain a solid amine sorbent through impregnation or grafting is reviewed comparatively.Focus is given to the adsorption mechanisms,material characteristics,and synthesis methods which are discussed in detail.Significant amount of original data are also presented which makes this review unique.Finally,relevant CO_(2) adsorption(or equilibrium)capacity data,and cyclic adsorption/desorption performance and stability of important classes of solid amine sorbents are critically reviewed.These include severa PEI or TEPA impregnated adsorbents and APTES-grafted systems.Elif ErdalÜnveren Bahar Ozmen Monkul S¸erife Sarıoglan Nesrin Karademir Erdogan Alper 2017Petroleum2017,3,1:8

12Melatonin reduces bacterial translocation and apoptosis in trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid-induced colitis of rats显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effects of exogenous melatonin on bacterial translocation and apoptosis in a rat ulcerati-ve colitis model. METHODS: Rats were randomly assigned to three groups: groupⅠ: control, group Ⅱ: experimental colitis, group Ⅲ: colitis plus melatonin treatment. On d 11 after colitis, plasma tumor necrosis factor-α, portal blood endotoxin levels, colon tissue myeloperoxidase and caspase-3 activity were measured. Bacterial translocation was quantified by blood, lymph node, liver and spleen culture. RESULTS: We observed a significantly reduced inciden-ce of bacterial translocation to the liver, spleen, mesen-teric lymph nodes, portal and systemic blood in animals treated with melatonin. Treatment with melatonin signifi-cantly decreased the caspase-3 activity in colonic tissues compared to that in trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid-trea-ted rats (16.11 ± 2.46 vs 32.97 ± 3.91, P < 0.01). 14Analysis of the high-temperature dry sliding behavior of CoCrFeNiTi0.5Alx high-entropy alloys显示文摘In this study,CoCrFeNiTi0.5Alx high‐entropy alloys were produced by induction melting and their dry sliding wear behavior was examined at different temperatures.In addition to face‐centered cubic(FCC)phases,low amounts of a tetragonal phase were detected in the microstructures of alloys without Al and microscratches were formed by wear particles on the worn surfaces of the alloy specimens.Two body‐centered cubic(BCC)phases were detected in the alloy with 0.5Al and a fatigue‐related extrusion wear mechanism was detected on the worn surface.The alloy specimen with a high Al content exhibited the best wear characteristics.No wear tracks were formed in single‐phase BCC intermetallic alloys at room temperature and they exhibited a higher wear strength at high temperatures when compared to other samples.Azmi ERDOGAN Mustafa Sabri GOK Sakin ZEYTIN 2020Friction2020,8,1:5
15Predisposing factors and surgical outcome of complicated liver hydatid cysts显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the predisposing factors for peritoneal perforation and intrabiliary rupture and the effects of these complications on surgical outcome in liver hydatid disease.METHODS: A total of 372 patients with liver hydatid cysts who had undergone surgical treatment were evaluated retrospectively. Twenty eight patients with peritoneal perforation, 93 patients with spontaneous intrabiliary perforation, and 251 patients with noncomplicated hydatid cysts were treated in our clinics.RESULTS: When the predisposing factors for complications were evaluated, younger age, superf icial position, and larger cyst dimensions (P < 0.05; range, 0.0010.017) increased peritoneal perforation rates. It was shown that older age increased cyst dimensions, and presence of multiple and bilobar cysts increased intrabiliary rupture rates (P < 0.05; range, 0.0010.028). Partial pericystectomy and drainage was the most frequent surgical procedure in all groups (71.6%). The incidence of postoperative complications in the peritoneal perforated group, in the intrabiliary ruptured group, and in the noncomplicated group was 25%, 16.1% and 5.5%, respectively. When compared, complication rates were significantly different (P = 0.002). When length of hospital stay was compared, there was no signif icant difference between the groups (P > 0.05). The overall recurrence rate was 3.8% (14 patients), but there was not any statistical difference among the patient groups (P = 0.13). The early postoperative mortality rate was 1.1%. 18超音速火焰喷涂与激光重熔Al_(0.2)CrFeNi(Co,Cu)合金的干滑动磨损及氧化性能对比研究显示文摘用超音速火焰喷涂(HVOF)法在316L不锈钢基体上沉积Al_(0.2)CrFeNiCo和Al_(0.2)CrFeNiCu两种高熵合金涂层,然后对涂层进行激光重熔(LR)以改善其显微组织。研究LR工艺对涂层干滑动磨损和氧化行为的影响。结果表明,将粉末与单体元素混合导致HVOF涂层中形成内氧化物。LR消除了氧化物和气孔。LR后,两种合金中均以FCC相为主,而在Al_(0.2)CrFeNiCo合金中观察到BCC、sigma和Cr2O3相。HVOF后,Al_(0.2)CrFeNiCo和Al_(0.2)CrFeNiCu涂层的硬度分别为HV 591和HV 361。LR后,其硬度分别减小到HV 259和HV 270。与其他样品相比,虽然HVOF涂层受载荷增加的影响最大,但其表现出最高的耐磨性,且基体的耐磨性最差。氧化实验后,HVOF涂层被完全氧化,氧化50h后涂层因其多孔结构从基体上脱落。LR涂层具有较好的抗氧化性能。氧化实验后,Al_(0.2)CrFeNiCo涂层主要由Cr2O3氧化层组成,Cr2O3氧化层在氧化实验后期的生长速度较慢,而Al_(0.2)CrFeNiCu涂层则主要由尖晶石相组成。Azmi ERDOGAN Kadir Mert DOLEKER 2021Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China2021,31,8:3
19Ultrasound biomicroscopic evaluation of anterior segment cysts as a risk factor for ocular hypertension and closure angle glaucoma显示文摘AIM:To investigate the relationship between the ultrasound biomicroscopic(UBM) features of anterior-segment cysts(ASCs) and increased intraocular pressure(IOP) as a risk factor for closed-angle glaucoma(CAG).·METHODS:Totally 24 eyes with recently diagnosed ASCs were divided into two groups.First group with ASC and ocular normotension(n =13),second group with ASC and ocular hypertension(n =11).An ophthalmologic examination,including tonometry,slit-lamp biomicro-scopy(SLBM),gonioscopy,fundoscopy,pentacam,and UBM,was performed.The features of the ASCs were compared with the IOP.·RESULTS:ASCs were accurately diagnosed and delineated in 24 eyes using UBM.IOP was elevated in those ASCs with a secondary aetiology(P =0.027),iridociliary location(P =0.006),deformed shape(P =0.013),increased size(P =0.001) and elongated pupillary aperture(P =0.009).However,the count(P =0.343) of ASCs,anterior chamber depth(ACD;P =0.22) and axial lenght(AL;P =0.31) were not associated with ocular hypertension.Correlations were found between the IOP and ASC size(r =-0.712;P =0.003),anterior chamber angle(ACA;r =-0.985;P <0.001),angle opening area(AOA;r =0.885;P<0.001),angulation of iris(r =-0.776,P <0.001),and affected iris quadrant(r =-0.655,P =0.002).·CONCLUSION:Ocular hypertension in some eyes with ASC might be associated with various mechanisms,including secondary aetiology,iridociliary location,deformed shape,increased size and elongated pupill,which can be determined by UBM.Abdurrahim Dusak Mehmet Baykara Guven Ozkaya Cuneyt Erdogan Hikmet Ozcetin Ercan Tuncel 2013International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2013,6,4:3
20Association of inflammation with atrial fibrillation in hyperthyroidism显示文摘The aim of this studywas to evaluate the relationship between inflammation and development of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with hyperthyroidism.Methods A total of 65 patients with newly diagnosed hyperthyroidism, 35 of whom were in sinus rhythm and 30 of whom in AF. Thirty five age- and gender-matched patients in a control group were included in the study. Factors associated with the development of AF were evaluated by multivariate regression analysis. Results Factors associated with AF in multivariate analysis included high sensitivity C reactive protein (HsCRP) [odds ratio (OR): 11.19; 95% confidence interval (95% CI): 1.80–69.53; P = 0.003],free T4 (OR: 8.76; 95% CI: 2.09–36.7; P = 0.003), and left atrial diameter (OR: 1.25; 95% CI: 1.06–1.47; P = 0.008).
