| 1 | Thirty million year deep-sea records in the South China Sea显示文摘In the spring of 1999 the Ocean Drilling Pro-gram (ODP) Leg 184 Shipboard Party cored 17 holes at 6 deep water sites in the northern and southern parts of the South China Sea (SCS). Chinese scientists actively partici-pated in the entire process of this first deep-sea drilling leg off China, from proposal to post-cruise studies. More than 30 categories of analyses have been conducted post-cruise in various Chinese laboratories on a large number of core sam-ples, and the total number of analyses exceeded 60 thousand. The major scientific achievements of the Leg 184 studies are briefly reported in three successive papers, with the first one presented here dealing with deep-sea stratigraphy and evolu-tion of climate cycles. This ODP leg has established the best deep-sea stratigraphic sequences in the Western Pacific: the 23-Ma isotope sequence from the Dong-Sha area is unique worldwide because of its continuity; the last 5-Ma sequence from the Nansha area represents one of the best 4 ODP sites worldwide with the highest time-resolution for that time in-terval, and the sequences of physical properties enable a de-cadal-scale time resolution. All these together have provided for the first time high-quality marine records for paleoenvi-ronmental studies in the Asian-Pacific region. | 2 | A GENERAL APPROACH BASED ON AUTOCORRELATION TO DETERMINE INPUT VARIABLES OF NEURAL NETWORKS FOR TIME SERIES FORECASTING显示文摘Input selection is probably one of the most critical decision issues in neural network designing, because it has a great impact on forecasting performance. Among the many applications of artificial neural networks to finance, time series forecasting is perhaps one of the most challenging issues. Considering the features of neural networks, we propose a general approach called Autocorrelation Criterion (AC) to determine the inputs variables for a neural network. The purpose is to seek optimal lag periods, which are more predictive and less correlated. AC is a data-driven approach in that there is no prior assumptiona bout the models for time series under study. So it has extensive applications and avoids a lengthy experimentation and tinkering in input selection. We apply the approach to the determination of input variables for foreign exchange rate forecasting and conductcomparisons between AC and information-based in-sample model selection criterion. | 4 | Predicting the growth performance of growing-finishing pigs based on net energy and digestible lysine intake using multiple regression and artificial neural networks models显示文摘Backgrounds:Evaluating the growth performance of pigs in real-time is laborious and expensive,thus mathematical models based on easily accessible variables are developed.Multiple regression(MR)is the most widely used tool to build prediction models in swine nutrition,while the artificial neural networks(ANN)model is reported to be more accurate than MR model in prediction performance.Therefore,the potential of ANN models in predicting the growth performance of pigs was evaluated and compared with MR models in this study.Results:Body weight(BW),net energy(NE)intake,standardized ileal digestible lysine(SID Lys)intake,and their quadratic terms were selected as input variables to predict ADG and F/G among 10 candidate variables.In the training phase,MR models showed high accuracy in both ADG and F/G prediction(R^(2)_(ADG)=0.929,R^(2)_(F/G)=0.886)while ANN models with 4,6 neurons and radial basis activation function yielded the best performance in ADG and F/G prediction(R^(2)_(ADG)=0.964,R^(2)_(F/G)=0.932).In the testing phase,these ANN models showed better accuracy in ADG prediction(CCC:0.976 vs.0.861,R^(2):0.951 vs.0.584),and F/G prediction(CCC:0.952 vs.0.900,R^(2):0.905 vs.0.821)compared with the MR models.Meanwhile,the“over-fitting”occurred in MR models but not in ANN models.On validation data from the animal trial,ANN models exhibited superiority over MR models in both ADG and F/G prediction(P<0.01).Moreover,the growth stages have a significant effect on the prediction accuracy of the models.Conclusion:Body weight,NE intake and SID Lys intake can be used as input variables to predict the growth performance of growing-finishing pigs,with trained ANN models are more flexible and accurate than MR models.Therefore,it is promising to use ANN models in related swine nutrition studies in the future. | Li Wang Qile Hu Lu Wang Huangwei Shi Changhua Lai Shuai Zhang | 2022 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,6: | 5 |

| 6 | Deep-water Earliest Oligocene Glacial Maximum (EOGM) in South Atlantic显示文摘The most prominent cooling event of the Earth surface during Cenozoic in the long-term transition from a non-glaciated planet, or green-house world, to a polar, glaciated planet, or ice-house world, is the Earliest Oligo-cene Glacial Maximum (EOGM) above the Eocene/Oligocene boundary at about 33.7 Ma. Planktonic and benthic fo-raminiferal oxygen and carbon isotopes, carbonate content, and coarse fraction, along with high-resolution color reflec-tance and magnetic susceptibility records during 3530 Ma, from deep-water Sites 1262 and 1265, Ocean Drilling Pro-gram (ODP) Leg 208 in South Atlantic, reveal the global cooling event occurring in both surface and deep oceans. The results show that the earliest Oligocene d 18O values during 33.533.1 Ma represent the magnitude of continental ice sheets on east Antarctica and indicate the large decrease in both surface and deep water temperatures of worldwide oceans. The d 13C records show the large excursion during the period of EOGM event and indicate some types of shift in global carbon reservoir, probably demonstrating the sudden increase in organic carbon burial rates and the changes in the distribution and timing of production. At the same time, lithologic composition, carbonate content, color reflectance, and coarse fraction brought about significant changes close to the Eocene/Oligocene boundary, reflecting the abrupt deepening in the carbonate compensation depth (CCD). | 10 | Analytical method of nonlinear coupled constitutive relations for rarefied non-equilibrium flows显示文摘It is well known that Navier-Stokes equations are not valid for those high-Knudsen and high-Mach flows, in which the local thermodynamically non-equilibrium effects are dominant. To extend the non-equilibrium describing the ability of macroscopic equations, Nonlinear Coupled Constitutive Relation(NCCR) model was developed from Eu’s generalized hydrodynamic equations to substitute linear Newton’s law of viscosity and Fourier’s law of heat conduction in conservation laws. In the NCCR model, how to solve the decomposed constitutive equations with reasonable computational cost is a key ingredient of this scheme. In this paper, an analytic method is proposed firstly. Compared to the iterative procedure in the conventional NCCR model, the analytic method not only obtains exact roots of the decomposed constitutive polynomials, but also preserves the nonlinear constitutive relations in the original framework of NCCR methods. Numerical tests to assess the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method are conducted for argon shock structures, Couette flows, two-dimensional hypersonic flows over a cylinder and threedimensional supersonic flows over a three-dimensional sphere. | 11 | Effect of Mo contents on properties of Mo/ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst for NOx reduction显示文摘Mo/ZSM 5 catalysts with different Mo content were prepared by impregnation method. The effect of Mo content on the property of Mo/ZSM 5 catalysts and their performance for selective catalytic reduction(SCR) of NO with ammonia was investigated by XRD, ICP, XPS and NO TPD respectively. The results showed that the catalytic activity of Mo/ZSM 5 for SCR of NO is strongly influenced by the Mo loading in HZSM 5 zeolites. The NOx conversion reached the highest value of 64.2% at 375℃ when Mo content is about 10 9%, and the temperatures at which the maximum of NOx conversion obtained were declined with the increase of Mo content. From XRD results, it can be seen that it exhibits the distinct interaction between Mo and HZSM 5 when Mo content is about 10 9%. This may result in a suitable phase structure in Mo/ZSM 5 catalyst, which is advantageous for NO reduction.
