| 1 | Hybridisation of perovskite nanocrystals with organic molecules for highly efficient liquid scintillators显示文摘Compared with solid scintillators,liquid scintillators have limited capability in dosimetry and radiography due to their relatively low light yields.Here,we report a new generation of highly efficient and low-cost liquid scintillators constructed by surface hybridisation of colloidal metal halide perovskite CsPbA_(3)(A:Cl,Br,I)nanocrystals(NCs)with organic molecules(2,5-diphenyloxazole).The hybrid liquid scintillators,compared to state-of-the-art CsI and Gd_(2)O_(2)S,demonstrate markedly highly competitive radioluminescence quantum yields under X-ray irradiation typically employed in diagnosis and treatment.Experimental and theoretical analyses suggest that the enhanced quantum yield is associated with X-ray photon-induced charge transfer from the organic molecules to the NCs.High-resolution X-ray imaging is demonstrated using a hybrid CsPbBr_(3) NC-based liquid scintillator.The novel X-ray scintillation mechanism in our hybrid scintillators could be extended to enhance the quantum yield of various types of scintillators,enabling low-dose radiation detection in various fields,including fundamental science and imaging. | Sangeun Cho Sungwoo Kim Jongmin Kim Yongcheol Jo Ilhwan Ryu Seongsu Hong Jae-Joon Lee SeungNam Cha Eun BiNam Sang Uck Lee Sam Kyu Noh Hyungsang Kim Jungwon Kwak Hyunsik Im | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 4 |
| 2 | Non-destructive thickness characterisation of 3D multilayer semiconductor devices using optical spectral measurements and machine learning显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D)semiconductor devices can address the limitations of traditional two-dimensional(2D)devices by expanding the integration space in the vertical direction.A 3D NOT-AND(NAND)flash memory device is presently the most commercially successful 3D semiconductor device.It vertically stacks more than 100 semiconductor material layers to provide more storage capacity and better energy efficiency than 2D NAND flash memory devices.In the manufacturing of 3D NAND,accurate characterisation of layer-by-layer thickness is critical to prevent the production of defective devices due to non-uniformly deposited layers.To date,electron microscopes have been used in production facilities to characterise multilayer semiconductor devices by imaging cross-sections of samples.However,this approach is not suitable for total inspection because of the wafer-cutting procedure.Here,we propose a non-destructive method for thickness characterisation of multilayer semiconductor devices using optical spectral measurements and machine learning.For>200-layer oxide/nitride multilayer stacks,we show that each layer thickness can be non-destructively determined with an average of approximately 1.6Åroot-mean-square error.We also develop outlier detection models that can correctly classify normal and outlier devices.This is an important step towards the total inspection of ultra-high-density 3D NAND flash memory devices.It is expected to have a significant impact on the manufacturing of various multilayer and 3D devices. | Hyunsoo Kwak Sungyoon Ryu Suil Cho Junmo Kim Yusin Yang Jungwon Kim | 2021 | Light(Advanced Manufacturing)2021,2,1: | 4 |
| 3 | Effects of Gastrodiae rhizoma on proliferation and differentiation of human embryonic neural stem cells显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effects of Gastrodiae rhizoma,a dried root of Gastrodia elata Blume,on proliferation and differentiation of human NSCs derived from embryonic stem cells.Methods:A 70%ethanol extract of Gastrodiae rhizoma(EEGR) was estimated with4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol as a representative constituent by HPLC.Results:MTT assay showed that the treatment with EEGR increased the viability of NSCs in growth media.Compared to contro1,EEGR increased the number of dendrites and denritic spines extended from a differentiated NSC.Whereas EEGR decreased the mRNA expression of Nestin,it increased that of Tuj1 and MAP2 in NSCs grown in differentiation media.Immunocytochemical analysis using confocal microscopy also revealed the increased expression of MAP2 in dendrites of EEGR-treated NSCs.Furthermore,EEGR decreased mRNA expression of Sox2 in NSCs grown even in growth media.Conclusions:In conclusion,our study demonstrates for the first time that EEGR induced proliferation and neuronal differentiation of NSCs,suggesting its potential benefits on NSC-based therapies and neuroregeneration in various neurodegenerative diseases and brain Injuries. | Samrat Baral Ramesh Pariyar Chi-Su Yoon Dong-Cheol Kim Jong-Min Yun Seok O Jang Sung Yeon Kim Hyuncheol Oh Youn-Chul Kim Jungwon Seo | 2015 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2015,8,10: | 2 |
| 4 | All-fiber-photonics-based ultralow-noise agile frequency synthesizer for X-band radars显示文摘We propose and demonstrate an agile X-band signal synthesizer with ultralow phase noise based on all-fiberphotonic techniques for radar applications. It shows phase noise of-145 dBc∕Hz(-152 dBc∕Hz) at 10 kHz(100 kHz) offset frequency for 10 GHz carrier frequency with integrated RMS timing jitter between 7.6 and 9.1 fs(integration bandwidth: 10 Hz–10 MHz) for frequencies from 9 to 11 GHz. Its frequency switching time is evaluated to be 135 ns with a 135 pHz frequency tuning resolution. In addition, the X-band linearfrequency-modulated signal generated by the proposed synthesizer shows a good pulse compression ratio approximating the theoretical value. In addition to the ultrastable X-band signals, the proposed synthesizer can also provide 0–1 GHz ultralow-jitter clocks for analog-to-digital converters(ADC) and digital-to-analog converters(DAC) in radar systems and ultralow-jitter optical pulse trains for photonic ADC in photonic radar systems.The proposed X-band synthesizer shows great performance in phase stability, switching speed, and modulation capability with robustness and potential low cost, which is enabled by an all-fiber-photonics platform and can be a compelling technology suitable for future X-band radars. | JUAN WEI DOHYEON KWON SHUANGYOU ZHANG SHILONG PAN AND JUNGWON KIM | 2018 | Photonics Research2018,9,1: | 2 |
