| 2 | Purification of Crude Glycerol from Waste Cooking Oil Based Biodiesel Production by Orthogonal Test Method显示文摘Purification of original crude glycerol obtained from biodiesel production was conducted in a laboratory scale equipment by means of a combined chemical and physical treatment method based upon repeated cycles of acidification of liquid phase to the desired pH value by using 5.85% H3PO4 solution for pH value adjustment, and the mixture was kept at 70℃ for 60min to make phase separation for obtaining a glycerol-rich middle phase. The yield of crude glycerol reached 81.2%. Subsequently, upon reaction of the obtained glycerol phase with 0.03% of sodium oxalate at 80℃ for 30min the impurity removal rate was equal to 19.8%. | 4 | Band-tailored van der Waals heterostructure for multilevel memory and artificial synapse显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)van der Waals heterostructure(vdWH)-based floating gate devices show great potential for next-generation nonvolatile and multilevel data storage memory.However,high program voltage induced substantial energy consumption,which is one of the primary concerns,hinders their applications in lowenergy-consumption artificial synapses for neuromorphic computing.In this study,we demonstrate a three-terminal floating gate device based on the vdWH of tin disulfide(SnS2),hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN),and few-layer graphene.The large electron affinity of SnS2 facilitates a significant reduction in the program voltage of the device by lowering the hole-injection barrier across h-BN.Our floating gate device,as a nonvolatile multilevel electronic memory,exhibits large on/off current ratio(105),good retention(over 104 s),and robust endurance(over 1000 cycles).Moreover,it can function as an artificial synapse to emulate basic synaptic functions.Further,low energy consumption down to7 picojoule(pJ)can be achieved owing to the small program voltage.High linearity(<1)and conductance ratio(80)in long-term potentiation and depression(LTP/LTD)further contribute to the high pattern recognition accuracy(90%)in artificial neural network simulation.The proposed device with attentive band engineering can promote the future development of energy-efficient memory and neuromorphic devices. | Yanan Wang Yue Zheng Jing Gao Tengyu Jin Enlong Li Xu Lian Xuan Pan Cheng Han Huipeng Chen Wei Chen | 2021 | InfoMat2021,3,8: | 3 |

| 8 | Orbitofrontal cortex action of 5-hydroxytryptamine and its receptor in an acute forced swimming stress-induced depression model显示文摘BACKGROUND:The orbitofrontal cortex(OFC) is a brain region closely associated with emotion. 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) has been shown to be involved in human depression. OBJECTIVE:To investigate OFC actions and mechanisms of 5-HT and 5-HT_(1A) receptor(5-HT_(1A)R) in stress-induced depression. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized,controlled,animal experiment was performed at Laboratory of Neurobiology,College of Life Science,Shaanxi Normal University between May 2006 and March 2008. MATERIALS:5-HT,p-chlorophenylalanine(PCPA,an inhibitor to tryptophan hydroxylase) and spiperone(5-HT_(1A)R antagonist) were provided by Sigma,USA;rabbit anti-rat 5-HT_(1A)R antibody was provided by Tianjin Haoyang Biological Manufacture. METHODS:A total of 40 male Sprague Dawley rats,aged 3 months,were randomly divided into five groups:control,model,5-HT,spiperone+5-HT,and PCPA,with 8 rats in each group.Except for control group,rats in the other four groups were used to establish depression models by forced swimming for 15 minutes.At 30 minutes before forced swimming test,0.5μL of 5-HT(12.5μg/μL), PCPA(20μg/μL),spiperone(1.3μg/μL)+5-HT(12.5μg/μL,10 minutes later),and saline were respectively injected into the OFC of 5-HT,PCPA,spiperone+5-HT,and model groups,respectively. The control group received a saline microinjection into the OFC. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Forced swimming and open field tests were employed to measure animal behaviors,and immunohistochemistry was used to analyze 5-HT_(1A)R expression in the OFC, cingulate cortex,and piriform cortex. RESULTS:(1) Compared with the model group,5-HT microinjection into the OFC prominently reduced immobility time in the forced swimming test and rearing in open field test(P<0.05); locomotion and grooming in open field test were increased,although there was no significance(P>0.05).Furthermore,following PCPA microinjection into the OFC(PCPA+forced swimming stress), immobility time in forced swimming test increased dramatically(P<0.01),locomotion and rearing in open field test declined(P<0.05 and P<0.01,respectively).Compared with the 5-HT group, 5-HT_(1A)R antagonist(spiperone+5-HT+forced swimming stress) increased immobility time in forced swimming test(P<0.01),but decreased locomotion,rearing,and grooming in open field test. (2) Forced swimming stress markedly elevated 5-HT_(1A)R expression in OFC,cingulate cortex,and piriform cortex(P<0.05 or P<0.01). | 20 | Heterogeneous distribution of Cardinium in whitefly populations is associated with host nuclear genetic background显示文摘Inherited bacterial symbionts are very common in arthropods, but infection frequency can vary widely among populations. Experiments and interpopulation comparisons suggest that host genetic background might be important in explaining this variation. Our extensive field investigation showed that the infection pattern of the facultative symbiont Cardinium was heterogeneous across geographical populations of the invasive whitefly Bemisia tabaci Mediterranean (MED) in China, with genetic nuclear differences evident in 2 of the populations: 1 with a low infection rate (SD line) and 1 with a high infection rate (HaN line). However, whether the heterogeneous frequency of Cardinium is associated with the host genetic background remains poorly understood. Here, we compared the fitness of the Cardinium-infected and uninfected sublines with similar nuclear genetic backgrounds from SD and HaN lines, respectively, and further determine whether host extranuclear or nuclear genotype influenced the Cardinium–host phenotype by performing 2 new introgression series of 6 generations between SD and HaN lines (i.e., Cardinium-infected females of SD were backcrossed with uninfected males of HaN, and vice versa). The results showed that Cardinium provides marginal fitness benefits in the SD line, whereas Cardinium provides strong fitness benefits in the HaN line. Further, both Cardinium and the Cardinium–host nuclear interaction influence the fecundity and pre-adult survival rate of B. tabaci, whereas the extranuclear genotype does not.
