| 3 | Role of pomegranate and citrus fruit juices in colon cancer prevention显示文摘Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States.Recent studies prove that though chemotherapeutic agents are being used for the treatment of colon cancer,they become non-effective when the cancer progresses to an invasive stage.Since consumption of certain dietary agents has been linked with various cancers,fruit juices have been investigated for their consistently protective effect against colon cancer.The unique biochemical composition of fruit juices is responsible for their anticancer properties.In this review,the chemo-preventive effect of fruit juices such as pomegranate and citrus juices against colon cancer are discussed.For this purpose,the bioavailability,in vitro and in vivo effects of these fruit juices on colorectal cancer are highlighted.Moreover,there is a scarcity of studies involving human trials to estimate the preventive nature of these juices against colon cancer.This review will support the need for more preclinical tests with these crude juices and their constituents in different colorectal cancer cell lines and also some epidemiological studies in order to have a better understanding and promote pomegranate and citrus juices as crusaders against colon cancer. | Saravana Kumar Jaganathan Muthu Vignesh Vellayappan Gayathri Narasimhan Eko Supriyanto | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,16: | 6 |

| 6 | Soil-Landscape Estimation and Evaluation Program(SLEEP)to predict spatial distribution of soil attributes for environmental modeling显示文摘The spatial distribution of surface and subsurface soil attributes is an important input to environmental modeling.Soil attributes represent an important input to the Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT),which influence the accuracy of the modeling outputs.An ArcGIS-based tool was developed to predict soil attributes and provide inputs to SWAT.The essential inputs are digital elevation model and field observations.Legacy soil data/maps can be used to derive observations when recent field surveys are not available.Additional layers,such as satellite images and auxiliary data,improve the prediction accuracy.The model contains a series of steps(menus)to facilitate iterative analysis.The steps are summarized in deriving many terrain attributes to characterize each pixel based on local attributes as well as the characteristics of the contributing area.The model then subdivides the entire watershed into smaller facets(subdivisions of subwatersheds)and classifies these into groups.A linear regression model to predict soil attributes from terrain attributes and auxiliary data are established for each class and implemented to predict soil attributes for each pixel within the class and then merged for the entire watershed or study area.SLEEP(Soil-Landscape Estimation and Evaluation Program)utilizes Pedo-transfer functions to provide the spatial distribution of the necessary unmapped soil data needed for SWAT prediction.An application of the tool demonstrated acceptable accuracy and better spatial distribution of soil attributes compared with two spatial interpolation techniques.The analysis indicated low sensitivity of SWAT prediction to the number of field observations when SLEEP is used to provide the soil layer.This demonstrates the potential of SLEEP to support SWAT modeling where soil data is scarce. | Feras M.Ziadat Yeganantham Dhanesh David Shoemate Raghavan Srinivasan Balaji Narasimhan Jaclyn Tech | 2015 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2015,8,3: | 3 |
| 7 | Pediatric Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy in the operating room: review of 87 cases显示文摘AIM: To report a large series of children having Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy in the operating room using the lateral decubitus position. METHODS: Medical records of children who underwent Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy in the operating room at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago between September 2008 and April 2017 were reviewed. Induction of general anesthesia and intubation was performed in the supine position after which the patient was placed in lateral decubitus position. The Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy was performed using a standard protocol. At the completion of the procedure, the patient was turned back into the supine position and extubated. RESULTS: This study included 87 eyes of 60 patients. Patient's age ranged from 1 to 18 y(mean 6.4±4.1 y). In most cases(84/87, 97%), the procedure was performed under general anesthesia. In all cases, good focus on the membrane was achieved, and the procedure was performed successfully. There were no intraoperative ocular or anesthesia-related complications. | 9 | Improvement of the prediction performance of a soft sensor model based on support vector regression for production of ultra-low sulfur diesel显示文摘A novel data-driven, soft sensor based on support vector regression(SVR) integrated with a data compression technique was developed to predict the product quality for the hydrodesulfurization(HDS) process. A wide range of experimental data was taken from a HDS setup to train and test the SVR model. Hyper-parameter tuning is one of the main challenges to improve predictive accuracy of the SVR model.Therefore, a hybrid approach using a combination of genetic algorithm(GA) and sequential quadratic programming(SQP)methods(GA–SQP) was developed. Performance of different optimization algorithms including GA–SQP, GA, pattern search(PS), and grid search(GS) indicated that the best average absolute relative error(AARE), squared correlation coefficient(R2), and computation time(CT)(AARE = 0.0745, R2= 0.997 and CT = 56 s) was accomplished by the hybrid algorithm. Moreover, to reduce the CT and improve the accuracy of the SVR model, the vector quantization(VQ) technique was used. The results also showed that the VQ technique can decrease the training time and improve prediction performance of the SVR model. | 10 | Soft sensor design for hydrodesulfurization process using support vector regression based on WT and PCA显示文摘A novel method for developing a reliable data driven soft sensor to improve the prediction accuracy of sulfur content in hydrodesulfurization(HDS) process was proposed. Therefore, an integrated approach using support vector regression(SVR) based on wavelet transform(WT) and principal component analysis(PCA) was used. Experimental data from the HDS setup were employed to validate the proposed model. The results reveal that the integrated WT-PCA with SVR model was able to increase the prediction accuracy of SVR model. Implementation of the proposed model delivers the best satisfactory predicting performance(EAARE=0.058 and R2=0.97) in comparison with SVR.
