1E2FBP1 antagonizes the p16^(INK4A)-Rb tumor suppressor machinery for growth suppression and cellular senescence by regulating promyelocytic leukemia protein stability显示文摘Cellular senescence is an irreversible cell cycle arrest triggered by the activation of oncogenes or mitogenic signaling as well as the enforced expression of tumor suppressors such as p53, p16 INK4A and promyelocytic leukemia protein (PML) in normal cells. E2F-binding protein 1 (E2FBP1), a transcription regulator for E2F, induces PML reduction and suppresses the formation of PML-nuclear bodies, whereas the down-regulation of E2FBP1 provokes the PML-dependent premature senescence in human normal fibroblasts. Here we report that the depletion of E2FBP1 induces the accumulation of PML through the Ras-dependent activation of MAP kinase signaling. The cellular levels of p16 INK4A and p53 are elevated during premature senescence induced by depletion of E2FBP1, and the depletion of p16 INK4A , but not p53 rescued senescent cells from growth arrest. Therefore, the premature senescence induced by E2FBP1 depletion is achieved through the p16 INK4A -Rb pathway. Similar to human normal fibroblasts, the growth inhibition induced by E2FBP1 depletion is also observed in human tumor cells with intact p16 INK4A and Rb. 2Growth performance, and enteric and manure greenhouse gas emissions from Murrah calves fed diets with different forage to concentrate ratios显示文摘The present study investigated the effects of different dietary forage to concentrate ratios on animal performance, and enteric and manure greenhouse gas emissions in growing calves.Fifteen male Murrah calves(153.5 ± 18.17 kg; 6 to 12 months) were randomly assigned to 3 dietary treatments and fed corn fodder, wheat straw and concentrate in 3 different proportions: 20:60:20(C20); 20:40:40(C40) and 10:30:60(C60), for a period of 120 days.Increasing dietary concentrate proportion had no significant(P > 0.05) effect on dry matter intake(DMI) but increased crude protein(CP) and total digestible nutrient intake(P < 0.05).Average daily gain and feed conversion efficiency were significantly higher(P < 0.05)for C60 compared with C20 and for C40, these did not differ with C20 and C60(P > 0.05).The apparent digestibility of dry matter, organic matter and CP were higher(P < 0.05), but acid detergent fiber digestibility was lower(P < 0.05) for C60 compared with C20 whereas, ether extract and neutral detergent fiber digestibilities were not affected(P > 0.05).Daily methane(CH_4) emission(g/d), CH_4 energy loss(MJ/d) and CH_4 yield(CH_4 g/kg organic matter intake [OMI], CH_4 g/kg digestible OMI, and CH_4% of metabolizable energy intake) were significantly higher for C20 compared with C60(P < 0.05).Methane yield as g/kg DMI although lower for C60 compared with C20 but the difference was not significant(P > 0.05).Manure CH_4(g/kg DMI) and nitrous oxide(N_2O mg/kg nitrogen) emissions were not affected(P > 0.05), but N_2O emission on mg/kg DM basis was significantly higher(P < 0.05) from the manure of calves fed C60 than that for C20.Thus, increasing dietary concentrate proportion improved animal performance, and reduced enteric CH_4 emission(g/day) without any significant effect on manure N_2O(mg/kg nitrogen) and CH_4 emissions.Vinu M.Nampoothiri Madhu Mohini Bilal A.Malla Goutam Mondal Sujata PANDita 2018Animal Nutrition2018,,2:4
3A review of ecological risk assessment and associated health risks with heavy metals in sediment from India显示文摘Heavy metal(HM)pollution in sediment is a serious concern particularly in developing nations,warranting an extensive survey to understand the current situation and propose possible remedial measures.This paper compiles the data of HMs cadmium(Cd),iron(Fe),cobalt(Co),manganese(Mn),arsenic(As),lead(Pb),chromium(Cr),copper(Cu),zinc(Zn)and nickel(Ni)in aquatic sediment from India from 1979 to 2017.It was found that mean values of Cu,Co,Zn,Pb,As,and Cr in Indian sediment were high in comparison to the Australian Interim Sediment Quality Guidelines,World Surface Rock Average,and the Threshold Effect Level for freshwater ecosystems.Anthropogenic activities,lithogenic factors,and sand intrusion are the main factors associated with HM pollution as observed using cluster analysis and principal component analysis.The results of contamination indices indicate that HM contamination ranged from average to high,in the sediment.The ecological risk assessment results showed that 11%HMs present very high risk.The cancer risk,due to the high contents of Cd,As,and Cr the ingestion pathway,showed high risk of cancer through food/water contaminated with sediment.At source reduction of HMs in industrial effluents by effluent treatment plants,and plantation of phytoremediating rooted macrophytes in sediment may help in HM mitigation of the sediment.Vinod Kumar Anket Sharma Shevita Pandita Renu Bhardwaj Ashwani Kumar Thukral Artemi Cerda 2020International Journal of Sediment Research2020,35,5:4

15Environmental variables vis-a-vis distribution of herbaceous tracheophytes on northern sub-slopes in Western Himalayan ecotone显示文摘Background:In the northern hemisphere,the north face of the mountains has a high diversity of species which is attributed to the moist and shady conditions at the north face.Other environmental variables may also influence the species diversity on the northern faces of the mountain and therefore needs to be studied in detail.The northern slopes represent three different sub-slopes—north,north east,and north west.During the current investigation of Pir-Panjal and Dauladhar ranges in Bhadarwah valley,fine-scale studies on the relationship between vegetation and four variables(soil pH,moisture content,electrical conductivity,and steepness)were conducted.The study determined the role of these variables on the vegetation of three different sub-slopes.The sampling was done at the confluence of two communities(forest and grassland)at three sites on the northern sub-slopes of the lesser stratum in western Himalayan.Results:The result revealed that rich herbaceous diversity prevails on the lesser Himalayan stratum(Bhadarwah valley).As many as 65.8%species differ from site to site,whereas species commonality among the sites is minimum.The role of environmental variables on the species composition at different sub-slopes of the north mountain face is deduced through canonical correspondence analysis(CCA).Conclusions:The availability of solar light increases air and soil temperature on the north east–facing slope.All the environmental variables(soil pH,moisture,electrical conductivity,and mountain steepness)are insignificant at pure north face for the species composition.Therefore,it can be concluded that some other environmental variables may influence the species composition which are needed to be further investigated.Shevita Pandita Vinod Kumar Harish Chander Dutt 2019Ecological Processes2019,8,1:1
