| 12 | Detection of serum tumor markers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with pancreatic cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND: Although a variety of tumor markers areavailable for diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, their sensitivityand specificity have not yet been ideal. The aims of thisstudy was to detect a panel of serum tumor markers and toevaluate their significance in the diagnosis and prognosis ofpancreatic cancer patients.METHODS: Eight serum tumor markers including AFP,CEA, CA-50, CA72-4, CA-125, CA153, CA19-9 and CA242were detected in 129 patients with pancreatic cancer by usingchemiluminescence immunoassay, immunofluorescence as-say and immunoradiometric assay, respectively. The levelsof these markers were compared in 99 patients with non-pancreatic malignant tumor, 63 patients with other benigndiseases, and 27 patients with pancreatic cancer after pan-createctomy.RESULTS: Among the 8 tumor markers, CA19-9, CA242,CA-50, and CA72-4 were more sensitive in the diagnosis ofpancreatic cancer. Parallel combined testing could increasethe diagnostic sensitivity to 89.2%, and serial combined exa-mination could increase the diagnostic specificity to 92.3%.The serum tumor markers levels were decreased significant-ly after radical tumor resection.CONCLUSIONS: Serum CA19-9, CA242, CA-50, andCA72-4 are the preferred tumor markers to be used in thediagnosis and follow-up of operated cases of pancreaticcancer. | 13 | Effect of cholecystokinin on cytokines during endotoxic shock in rats显示文摘AIM To study the effect of cholecystokinin-octapeptide (CCK-8) on systemic hypotension and cytokine production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced endotoxic shock (ES) rats.``METHODS The changes of blood pressure were observed using physiological record instrument in four groups of rats: LPS (8 mg. kg-1, iv) induced ES; CCK-8 (40 μg.kg- 1 iv) pretreatment 10 min before LPS (8 mg. kg- 1);CCK-8 (40 μg.kg-1, iv) or normal saline (control) groups.Differences in tissue and circulating specificity of the proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-a, IL-l3 and IL-6) were assayed with ELISA kits.``RESULTS CCK-8 reversed LPS-induced decrease of mean artery blood pressure (MABP) in rats. Compared with control, LPS elevated the serum level of IL-6 significantly (3567_-687 ng.L-1 vs 128_+22 ng.L-1, P<0.01), while contents of TNF-a and IL- lβ elevated significantly (277 _± 86ng.L-1 vs not detectable and 43 ± 9 ng.L-1 vs notdetectable, P<0.01) but less extent than IL-6, CCK-8significantly inhibited the LPS-induced increase in serum TNF-a, IL-lβ and IL-6. LPS elevated spleen and lung content of IL-Iβ significantly (5184 ± 85 ng.L-1 vs 1047 ±21 ng.L-1 and 4050 ± 614 ng.L-1 vs not detectable,P<0,01). while levels of TNF-a and IL-6 also rosesignificantly but in less extent than IL-lβ. CCK-8 inhibited the LPS-induced increase of the cytokines in spleen and lung. in the heart, CCK-8 significantly inhibited LPS.induced increase of TNF-a (864 ± 123 ng. | 14 | 山东临淄金岭镇一号东汉墓显示文摘In order to suit the Qilu 300, 000 ton ethylene project, the Institute excavated a largesized brick-chambered tomb within the plant area to the south of Jiming town, Linzi city, Shandong province, from 1985 to 1986. It is a magnificent grave with a huge barrow above the ground,a tomb-passage sloping down to the inside and a structure made of rectangular and wedge-shaped bricks in an earth pit 23.6m long and 17.4m wide. The interial structure consists of an eastern and a western side chambers, a passage, an antechamber, and a rear chamber surrounded by winding corridors on three sides. The antechamber is a horizontal rectangle in plan and is formed with the rear chamber into a standard layout with 'the hall in the front while the living room at the back'. The side chambers and winding corridors have arched tops and remain in a good condition. The top of the antechamber has fallen. The rear chamber is also topped with an arch, which is constructed of wedge-shaped bricks in three layers and reaches 6m in height. The foundations of the tomb walls are built of long narrow slabstones, some slabs bearing incised characters such as 'zhong 中' and 'Lu 吕'. The tomb floor is elaboratedly paved with bricks, and charcoal and fine sand are laid over beneath the floors of the antechamber,rear chamber and winding corridors. The tomb is heavily looted. The coffin and human skeleton have disappeared. The surviving funeral objects are mostly pottery,the rest including bronzes, irons, jade and stone vessels,and scattered pieces of a silver-thread-sawn jade shroad. They number more than 100 in total. The unearthed terra-cotta house and storehouse models are rare treasures for their magnificent superficies. The tomb comes from the early Eastern Han period. | 15 | Association between vascular endothelial growth factor and metastasis after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hypoxia up-regulates vascular endothelialgrowth factor (VEGF) and stimulates the growth of hepa-tocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. This study was designedto investigate the association between changes in plasmaVEGF levels after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) and HCC progression, especially in relation tometastasis.METHODS: Plasma VEGF levels were measured by quati-tative sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA R&D system). Plasma VEGF levels were measuredbefore, 3 days and 4 weeks after TACE in 30 patients withHCC. The development of metastasis was evaluated at theend of the third month after TACE.RESULTS: The plasma VEGF levels of the 30 patients withHCC were 154.47±90.17 pg/ml. The total plasma VEGFlevels after TACE increased compared with their basal levels(P<0.05), and the plasma VEGF levels had a tendency toincrease in patients with heterogenous uptake of iodizdoiland portal vein thrombosis. | 20 | Metabonomic phenotype and identification of “heart blood stasis obstruction pattern” and “qi and yin deficiency pattern” of myocardial ischemia rat models显示文摘The traditional Chinese medicine concepts of 'Xinxueyuzuzheng (heart blood stasis obstruction pattern)' and 'Qiyinliangxuzheng (qi and yin deficiency pattern)' for myocardial ischemia rat models were constructed in the present study. Endogenous metabolites in rat plasma were analyzed using the GC/TOF-MS-based metabonomic method. Significant metabolic differences were observed between the control and two model groups, and the three groups were distinguished clearly by pattern recognition. Compared with those of the control, the levels of hydroxyproline, threonic acid, glutamine and citric acid were strikingly up or down-regulated in model rats. The metabolites contributing most to the classification between the two 'pattern' rats were identified, such as valine, serine, threonine, ornithine, hydroxyproline, lysine, 2-hydroxybutanoic acid, 3-hydroxybutanoic acid, galactofuranose and inositol. These compounds were indicated as the potential biomarkers. The results suggested that the two 'patterns' are involved in dysfunction in oxidative stress, energy metabolism and amino acid metabolism.
