Mesozoic subduction-accretion zone in northeastern South China Sea inferred from geophysical interpretations显示文摘A segment of Mesozoic subduction-accretion zone was inferred across the northeastern South China Sea at approximately NE45° orientation. Basic evidence includes the following: A belt of peek gross horizontal Bouguer gravity gradient (PGHGBA) is comparable in size and intensity to that of the Manila subduction-accretion zone. A belt of high positive magnetic anomalies appears to the north and sub-parallel to the PGHGBA, representing the volcanic arc associated to the subduction zone. The PGHGBA crosses obliquely both Cenozoic structures and present seafloor topography, indicating a pre-Cenozoic age. The segment is offset left-laterally by NW-running strike-slip faults, in concord with the Mesozoic stress field of South China. In addition, the existence of the subduction zone is supported by wide-angle seismic data obtained in different years by different institutions. At approximate localities, a north-dipping ramp of Moho surface is indicated by records of ocean-bottom seismometers, and a strong reflector about 8 km beneath the Moho reflector is indicated by both OBS and long-cable seismic records. The identification of a segment of Mesozoic subduction zone in NE South China Sea fills nicely the gap of the Great Late Mesozoic Circum SE Asia Subduction-acrretion Zone, which extended from Sumatra, Java, SE Kalimantan to N Palawan, and from Taiwan, Ryukyu to SW Japan. | ZHOU Di1, WANG Wanyin2, WANG Jialin3, PANG Xiong4, CAI Dongsheng5 & SUN Zhen1 1. | 2 | Research on the dynamics of the South China Sea opening:Evidence from analogue modeling显示文摘Independent of Indochina extrusion, the South China Sea experienced a process from passive continental rifting to marginal sea drifting. According to the fault patterns in the Beibu Gulf basin and the Pearl River Mouth basin, the continental rifting and early spreading stage from 32 to 26 Ma were controlled by extensional stress field, which shifted clockwise from southeastward to south southeastward. From 24 Ma on, the sea spread in NW-SE direction and ceased spreading at around 15.5 Ma. Integrated geological information with the assumption that the South China Sea developed along a pre-Cenozoic weakness zone, we did analogue experiments on the South China Sea evolu- tion. Experiments revealed that the pre-existing weakness zone goes roughly along the uplift zone between the present Zhu-1 and Zhu-2 depression. The pre-existing weakness zone is composed of three segments trending NNE, roughly EW and NEE, respectively. The early opening of the South China Sea is accompanied with roughly 15° clockwise rotation, while the SE sub-sea basin opened with SE extension. Tinjar fault was the western boundary of the Nansha block (Dangerous Ground), while Lupar fault was the eastern boundary of the Indochina, NW-trending rift belt known as Zengmu basin developed between above two faults due to block divergent of Indochina from Nansha. In the experiment, transtensional flower structures along NW-trending faults are seen, and slight inversion occurs along some NE-dipping faults. The existence of rigid massifs changed the orientations of some faults and rift belt, and also led to deformation concentrate around the massifs. The rifting and drifting of the South China Sea might be caused by slab pull from the proto South China Sea subducting toward Borneo and/or mantle flow caused by India-Asia collision. | SUN Zhen1,2, ZHOU Di1, ZHONG Zhihong3, XIA Bin2, QIU Xuelin1, ZENG Zuoxun4 & JIANG Jianqun5 1. | 3 | Estimation of internal nutrient release in large shallow Lake Taihu, China显示文摘Based on field investigation of wave, sediment suspension and the changes in nutrient concentration of the water column in Lake Taihu, China, we proposed two release models to quantify nutrient release under static and dynamic conditions, respectively. Under static conditions, nutrient release from sediments to the overlying water mainly depends on chemical diffusion induced by concentration gradient, in which the nutrient release is controlled by the temperature, dissolved oxygen concentration in the sediment-water interface, oxidation-reduction potential and the concentration difference between porewater and overlying water. Under dynamic condition (or disturbed condition),both dissolved and particulate nutrients in sediments are released into the water column because of wind-induced sediment suspension. The amount of nutrient release under dynamic conditions is larger than that under the static condition. The release of dissolved nutrients, however, does not increase because the wind induced turbulence made oxidation of metallic elements such as Fe (ferric iron), Mn which are capable of precipitating soluble reactive phosphate (SRP). Under dynamic conditions, therefore, the release of total phosphorus (TP) increases dramatically but the release of SRP is close to those under static conditions. In sediments of Lake Taihu, high Fe content leads to a high ratio of Fe to P contents in sediments (Fe:P ratio). Under dynamic conditions, therefore, nutrient release is controlled by the intensity of disturbance, sediment consolidation and nutrient content in sediments. As for dissolved nutrients, especially SRP, the release is also controlled by the intensity of dynamic re-oxidation, Fe content in sediments and nutrient concentration gradient between porewater and overlying water. Based on these two release modes, the release flux in Lake Taihu has been estimated. In the static condition (i.e. laboratory experimental condition), total release of NH4+-N for whole lake is ca. 10,000 ton/a, and PO43--P is ca. 900 ton/a. In the dynamic condition, nutrient release following sediment suspension was estimated according to three different intensities of wind forcing which were defined as 'calm' (wind speed is less than 2 m/s), 'gentle' (wind speed is greater than 2 m/s and less than 6 m/s) and 'gust' (wind speed is greater than 6 m/s). The release rate in the condition of 'calm' was estimated in terms of the nutrient release in the laboratory experimental static condition; whereas the release rate in conditions of 'gentle' and 'gust' was estimated in terms of measurement during sediment resuspension conducted in flume experiments. With the observation of wind velocity and frequency in 2001, each type of wind forcing took the frequency of 12%, 82% and 6% for 'calm', 'gentle' and 'gust', respectively. The yearly release of nitrogen was 81,000 ton and phosphorus was 21,000 ton, which is about 2-6 folds of annual external loading, respectively. | QIN Boqiang, ZHU Guangwei, ZHANG Lu, LUO Liancong, GAO Guang & GU Binhe Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing 210008, China Everglades Department, South Florida Water Management District, 3301 Gun Club Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33406, USA | 2006 | Science China Earth Sciences2006,49,z1: | 37
Expression, deleton and mnutation of ρ16 gene in human gastric cancer显示文摘AIM To investigate the relationship between the expression of p16 gene and the gastric carcinogenesis, depth of invasion and lymph node metastases, and to evaluate the deletion and mutation of exon 2 in p16 gene in gastric carcinoma.METHODS The expression of P16 protein was examined by streptavidin-peroxidase conjugated method (S-P); the deletion and mutation of p16 gene were respectively examined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and polymerase chain reaction single-strand conformation polymorphism analysis (PCR-SSCP) in gastric carcinoma.RESULTS Expression of P16 protein was detected in 96.25% (77/80) of the normal gastric mucosa, in 92.00% (45/50) of the dysplastic gastric mucosa and in 47.54% (58/122) of the gastric carcinoma. The positive rate of P16 protein expression in gastric carcinoma was significantly lower than that in normal gastric mucosa and dysplastic gastric mucosa (P<0.05). The positive rate of P16 protein expression in mucoid carcinoma 10.00% (1/ 10) was significantly lower than that in poorly differentiated carcinoma 51.22% ( 21/ 41 ),undifferentiated carcinoma 57.69% (15/26) and signet ring cell carcinoma 62.50% (10/ 16) (P<0.05). The positive rate of p16 protein in 30 cases paired primary and lymph node metastatic gastric carcinoma: There was 46.67% (14/30) in primary gastric carcinoma, 16.67% (5/30) in lymph node metastatic gastric carcinoma. The positive rate of lymph node metastatic carcinoma was significantly lower than that of primary carcinoma (P<0.05). There was of p16 gene mutation in exon 2, but 5 cases displayed deletion of p16 gene in exon 2 in the 25 primary gastric carcinomas.CONCLUSIONS The expression loss of P16 protein related to the gastric carcinogenesis, gastric carcinoma histopathological subtypes and lymph metastasis. The mutation of p16 gene in exon 2 may not be involved in gastric carcinogenesis. But the deletion of p16 gene in exon 2 may be involved in gastric carcinogenesis. | Xiu-Sheng He Qi Su Zhu-Chu Chen Xiu-Tao He Zhi-Feng Long Hui Ling Liang-Run Zhang Oncology Institute,Nanhua University,Hengyang 421001,Hunan Province,ChinaOncology Institute,Center South University,Changsha 410078,Hunan Province,China Department of Gastroenterology,First People’s Hospital of Changde City,Changde 415003,Hunan Province,China | 2001 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2001,7,4: | 40
Recovery of Iron From High-Iron Red Mud by Reduction Roasting With Adding Sodium Salt显示文摘Red mud is the waste generated during aluminum production from bauxite, containing lots of iron and other valuable metals. In order to recover iron from red mud, the technology of adding sodium carbonate-reduction roasting-magnetic separation to treat high-iron red mud was developed. The effects of sodium carbonate dosage, reduction temperature and reduction time on the qualities of final product and the phase transformations in reduction process were discussed in detail. The results showed that the final product (mass percent), assaying Fe of 90.87% and Al2O3 of 0.95% and metallization degree of 94.28% was obtained at an overall iron recovery of 95.76% under the following conditions of adding 8% sodium carbonate, reduction roasting at 1 050 ℃ for 80 min and finally magnetic separation of the reduced pellets by grinding up to 90% passing 0.074 mm at magnetic field intensity of 0.08 T. The XRD (X-ray diffraction) results indicated that the iron oxides were transformed into metallic iron. Most of aluminum mineral and silica mineral reacted with sodium carbonate during the reduction roasting and formed nonmagnetic materials. | ZHU De-qing, CHUN Tie-jun, PAN Jian, HE Zhen (School of Minerals Processing and Bioengineering, Central South University, Changsha 410083, Hunan, China) | 2012 | Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2012,19,8: | 38
Treatment outcomes for different subgroups of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients treated with intensity-modulated radiation therapy显示文摘Although many studies have investigated intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC),sample sizes in the reported studies are usually small and different in outcomes in different T and N subgroups are seldom analyzed.Herein,we evaluated the outcomes of NPC patients treated with IMRT and further explored treatment strategy to improve such outcome. We collected clinical data of 865 NPC patients treated with IMRT alone or in combination with chemotherapy, and classified all cases into the following prognostic categories according to different TNM stages:early stage group (T1-2N0-1M0),advanced local disease group (T3-4N0-1M0),advanced nodal disease group (T1-2N2-3M0),and advanced locoregional disease group (T3-4N2-3M0).The 5-year overall survival (OS),local relapse-free survival (LRFS),and distant metastases-free survival (DMFS) were 83.0%,90.4%,and 84.0%,respectively.The early disease group had the lowest treatment failure rate, with a 5-year OS of 95.6%.The advanced local disease group and advanced nodal disease group had similar failure pattern and treatment outcomes as well as similar hazard ratios for death (4.230 and 4.625,respectively).The advanced locoregional disease group had the highest incidence of relapse and death, with a 5-year DMFS and OS of 62.3% and 62.2%,respectively,and a hazard ratio for death of 10.402.Comparing with IMRT alone,IMRT in combination with chemotherapy provided no significant benefit to locoregionally advanced NPC.Our results suggest that the decision of treatment strategy for NPC patients should consider combinations of T and N stages, and that IMRT alone for early stage NPC patients can produce satisfactory results. However, for advanced local, nodal, and locoregional disease groups,a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy is recommended. | Sheng-Fa Su 1,2,3,Fei Han 1,2,Chong Zhao 1,2,Ying Huang 1,2,Chun-Yan Chen 1,2,Wei-Wei Xiao 1,2,Jia-Xin Li 1,2 and Tai-Xiang Lu 1,2 1 State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China,Guangzhou,Guangdong 510060,P.R.China 2 Department of Radiation Oncology,Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center,Guangzhou,Guangdong 510060,P.R.China 3 Department of Oncology,Guiyang Medical College Hospital,Tumor Hospital of Guizhou,Guiyang,Guizhou 550003,P.R.China. | 2011 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2011,30,8: | 40
Discovery of seep carbonate nodules as new evidence for gas venting on the northern continental slope of South China Sea显示文摘Seep carbonate nodules were firstlycollected from the southwestern Dongsha area onnorthern continental slope of South China Sea formineralogical and geochemical studies. The resultsof X-ray diffraction show that carbonate nodules arecomposed of Fe-rich domolite, siderite and a few cal-cite and aragonite, as well as a small quantity ofnon-carbonate minerals such as goethite, quartz andclay minerals. Fe-rich dolomite and siderite charac-terized by euhedral microcrystalline structure weredirectly precipitated at cold seeps. The δ 13C valuesfor Fe-rich dolomite and siderite in the bulk nodulesvary from ?18.24‰ to ?36.07‰, and the δ 18O valuesrange from 0.42 to 2.76‰. Their moderate depleted13C reflects that carbon origin is possibly thermoge- netic gas or mixed gas, which is evidence of gasventings in the seafloor. Moreover, massive wormtube fossils related to cold seeps were found on thesurfaces of carbonate nodules, and the conduitsand/or channels in semi-solidified nodules whichwere not filled by carbonate or sediment were alsoobserved. A preliminary conclusion is that activemicro gas venting with a conduit/channel diameterrange from 200 μm to 600 μm possibly exists inmodern seafloor of the carbonate nodule area. | CHEN Zhong1,2,3, YAN Wen1,2,3, CHEN Muhong1,3, WANG Shuhong1,2,3, LU Jun1,3, ZHANG Fan1,3, XIANG Rong1,3, XIAO Shangbin1,3, YAN Pin1,2,3 & GU Senchang1,2,3 1. | 9 | Association between vascular endothelial growth factor and metastasis after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hypoxia up-regulates vascular endothelialgrowth factor (VEGF) and stimulates the growth of hepa-tocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. This study was designedto investigate the association between changes in plasmaVEGF levels after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) and HCC progression, especially in relation tometastasis.METHODS: Plasma VEGF levels were measured by quati-tative sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA R&D system). Plasma VEGF levels were measuredbefore, 3 days and 4 weeks after TACE in 30 patients withHCC. The development of metastasis was evaluated at theend of the third month after TACE.RESULTS: The plasma VEGF levels of the 30 patients withHCC were 154.47±90.17 pg/ml. The total plasma VEGFlevels after TACE increased compared with their basal levels(P<0.05), and the plasma VEGF levels had a tendency toincrease in patients with heterogenous uptake of iodizdoiland portal vein thrombosis. Follow-up for six monthsshowed metastatic foci in 20 patients (74%) with increasedplasma VEGF, but none of the patients with decreased plas-ma VEGF developed metastasis.CONCLUSION: Increased plasma VEGF expression is asso-ciated with the development of metastasis in HCC after TA-CE. | Zheng-Ping Xiong, Shu-Ren Yang, Zhao-Yu Liang, En-Hua Xiao, Xiao-Ping Yu,Shen-Ke Zhou and Zi-Shu Zhang, Department of Radiology , Hunan Provincial TumorHospital. | 10 | Production of proinflammatory cytokines in the human THP-1 monocyte cell line following induction by Tp0751,a recombinant protein of Treponema pallidum显示文摘The tissue destruction characteristic of syphilis infection may be caused by inflammation due to Treponema pallidum and the ensuing immune responses to the pathogen.T.pallidum membrane proteins are thought to be potent inducers of inflammation during the early stages of infection. However, the actual membrane proteins that induce inflammatory cytokine production are not known, nor are the molecular mechanisms responsible for triggering and sustaining the inflammatory cascades. In the present study,Tp0751 recombinant protein from T.pallidum was found to induce the production of proinflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α,IL-1βand IL-6,in a THP-1 human monocyte cell line. The signal transduction pathways involved in the production of these cytokines were then further investigated. No inhibition of TNF-a,IL-1β,or IL-6 production was observed following treatment with the SAPK/JNK specific inhibitor SP600125 or with an ERK inhibitor PD98059.By contrast,anti-TLR2 mAb,anti-CD14 mAb,and the p38 inhibitor SB203580 significantly inhibited the production of all three cytokines. In addition, pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC),a specific inhibitor of NF-κB,profoundly inhibited the production of these cytokines.Tp0751 treatment strongly activated NF-κB,as revealed by Western blotting.However,NF-κB translocation was significantly inhibited by treatment with PDTC.These results indicated that TLR2,CD14,MAPKs/p38,and NF-κB might be implicated in the inflammatory reaction caused by T.pallidum infection. | LIU ShuangQuan1,2,WANG ShiPing1,WU YiMou3,ZHAO FeiJun3,ZENG TieBing3,ZHANG YueJun3,ZHANG QiuGui2 & GAO DongMei1 1 Department of Parasitology,Xiangya School of Medicine,Central South University,Changsha 410078 ,China 2 The First Affiliated Hospital,University of South China,Hengyan 421001,China 3 Department of Microbiology and Immunology,University of South China,Hengyan 421001,China | 2010 | Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,2: | 28
Geomorphologic evolution and environmental changes in the Shaluli Mountain region during the Quaternary显示文摘Geologic and geomorphologic evidence from the Shaluli Mountain indicates that the planation surface that formed in the Late Tertiary disintegrated during the Late Pliocene-Early Quaternary. At the same time, rift ba- sins appeared on some parts of the planation surface, and began to accumulate fluvial-lacustrine sediment. These are interpreted as being the response of this region to Phase-A of the Qingzang Tectonic Movement. After this, the Shaluli Mountain continued to rise in several pulses. Faulting and incision by some large tributaries of the Jinsha and Yalong Rivers resulted in several rift river valleys and the earliest terraces. Generally, the planation surface in this region had been uplifted to about 3500—3700 m a.s.l. no later than 550—600 ka BP, after the Kunlun-Huanghe Tectonic Move- ment, and coupled with global glacial climate, and resulted in the earliest glaciation recognized so far in the Hengduan Mountains. At the same time, loess was deposited in the Ganzi area of the northern Shaluli Mountain. During the last glacial period, the Shaluli Mountain approached its present altitude and developed several large ice caps, such as the Daocheng Ice Cap and Xinlong Ice Cap, as well as several huge valley glaciers. These paleoglaciers produced some of the most spectacular glacial topography on the Tibetan Pla- teau. | ZHOU Shangzhe1,2, XU Liubing1, CUI Jianxin1, ZHANG Xiaowei1 & ZHAO Jingdong1 1. | 12 | Prognosis of 980 patients with gastric cancer after surgical resection显示文摘Background and Objective: Although surgery is the only possible means to cure gastric cancer, the prognosis is often discrepant. The American Joint Committee on Cancer/International Union against Cancer (AJCC/UICC) published the TNM classification of Malignant Tumors (seventh edition) for gastric cancer recently. This study aimed to use this new edition staging system to investigate the prognostic factors for gastric cancer. Methods: The clinicopathologic data of 980 patients with gastric cancer treated by surgical resection in our hospital between January 2000 and December 2006 were analyzed retrospectively. The overall survival rate was determined by using Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test was used to determine significance. The prognosis was analyzed using univariate analysis and multivariate analysis with the Cox proportional hazards model. The 6th and 7th edition AJCC/UICC TNM staging systems were used to compare the survival outcomes for the cohort of patients. Results: The overall 1-, 3-, 5-year survival rates for the whole group were 82.5%, 58.7%, and 52.6%. The 5-year survival rates for patients with pTNM stage I, II, III, and IV disease classified by the 7th edition staging system were 93.2%, 72.4%, 39.1%, and 5.2%, respectively. In both univariate analysis and Cox multivariate analysis, age, tumor site, tumor size, histological type, resection type, radical resection, lymphatic/venous invasion, depth of invasion, nodal status, metastasis, retrieved lymph nodes, metastatic lymph node ratio, and adjuvant chemotherapy were prognostic factors with these patients. Conclusion: Compared with the 6th edition system, the new edition of TNM staging system for gastric cancer can accurately predict the survival after operation. | Wei Wang1,2, Yuan-Fang Li1,2, Xiao-Wei Sun1,2, Ying-Bo Chen1,2, Wei Li1,2, Da-Zhi Xu1,2, Xuan-Xiang Guan1,2, Chun-Yu Huang1,2, You-Qing Zhan1,2, Zhi-Wei Zhou1,2 1 State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Guangzhou, Guangdong 510060, P. | 13 | The pathway of the interdecadal variability in the Pacific Ocean显示文摘Cases of the interdecadal variability in the Pacific Ocean and their evolution were examined in the paper with the statistic methods (CEOF and composite analysis) over the period of 1950-1993. Observations of oceanic temperatures in the upper 400 m revealed an obvious region of the interdecadal signals in the central North Pacific. Such signals propagated south westward, then subducted to the subtropics. The hypothesized link for interdecadal oceanic variability between the subtropics and the tropics, especially with the western tropical Pacific was unraveled in order to detect the cause of decadal signals in the tropics. The thermal anomalies subducted in the central North Pacific east to the dateline only reach 18°N. There has been no further southward propagation since then due to a certain barrier. The origin of the interdecadal signals in the western tropical Pacific was traced to the southern tropical Pacific. There is a meridional pathway around the dateline where the signals were loaded. | WANG Dongxiao & LIU Zhengyu1. | 14 | Regional patterns of particulate spectral absorption in the Pearl River estuary显示文摘Spectral absorption coefficients of the total particulate, ap(l ), nonalgal particulate, ad(l ), and phyto-plankton pigment, aph(l ), in the Pearl River estuary and its vicinity waters were determined using the quantitative filter technique. The particulate absorption ap(443) ranged from 0.04 to 1.82 m-1, with the corresponding aph(443) ranging from 0.016 to 0.484 m-1. Two typical spectral patterns are found for the total particulate absorption. For the first typi-cal spectral pattern, the total particulate absorption spectra are similar to that of nonalgal particulate, with values of absorption coefficient decreasing with wavelength. In con-trast, for the second spectral pattern the spectral absorptions by total particulate are very similar to that of phytoplankton pigment. The spectral dependency of absorption by nonalgal particulate follows an exponential increase toward short wavelengths, with an average slope of 0.012±0.002 nm-1. The nonalgal absorption and the fraction of the nonalgal particulate absorption to the total particulate absorption exhibit a distinct trend of decreasing with salinity of the sur-face water. Phytoplankton pigment absorption exhibits a clear trend of increasing nonlinearly with chlorophyll a con-centration. The relationships between the phytoplankton pigment absorption and chlorophyll a concentration can be described by power law, with the determination coefficient r2 of 0.82. But only weak relationships between ap(l ) and chlorophyll a concentration are observed, with the determination coefficient r2 of 0.42. The relatively large scatter around ap(443) versus chl-a relationship would be attributed to the effects of loading of the nonalgal particulate absorption. Our analysis indicated that such relationships similar to that for Case Ⅰ waters can be applicable to optically complex Case Ⅱ waters if the effects caused by nonalgal are corrected. The chlorophyll-specific absorption coefficients of phytoplankton pigment are not constant, it increases with decreasing chlorophyll a level. To improve the accuracy of bio-optical algorithms for remote sensing in coastal waters, further investigations on the variations of specific absorption of chlorophyll pigment must be made. | CAO Wenxi, YANG Yuezhong, XU Xiaoqiang, HUANG Liangmin & ZHANG Jianlin LED Laboratory, South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou 510301, China Correspondence should be addressed to Cao Wenxi (e-mail: wxcao@ scsio.ac.cn) | 2003 | Chinese Science Bulletin2003,48,21: | 24
On the new results of global attractive set and positive invariant set of the Lorenz chaotic system and the applications to chaos control and synchronization显示文摘Constructing a family of generalized Lyapunov functions, a new method is proposed to obtain new global attractive set and positive invariant set of the Lorenz chaotic system. The method we proposed greatly simplifies the complex proofs of the two famous estimations presented by the Russian scholar Leonov. Our uniform formula can derive a series of the new estimations. Employing the idea of intersection in set theory, we extract a new Leonov formula-like estimation from the family of the estimations. With our method and the new estimation, one can confirm that there are no equilibrium, periodic solutions, almost periodic motions, wandering motions or other chaotic attractors outside the global attractive set. The Lorenz butterfly-like singular attractors are located in the global attractive set only. This result is applied to the chaos control and chaos synchronization. Some feedback control laws are obtained to guarantee that all the trajectories of the Lorenz systems track a periodic solution, or globally stabilize an unstable (or locally stable but not globally asymptotically stable) equilibrium. Further, some new global exponential chaos synchronization results are presented. Our new method and the new results are expected to be applied in real secure communication systems. | LIAO Xiaoxin 1, 2, 3 , FU Yuli 4 & XIE Shengli 4 1. The particles can serve as preferred nucleation sites for δ′ phases which accelerate the aging hardening rate at initial aging. The main hardening phases of the alloy aged at 160 ℃ are δ′ and δ′/β′ composite precipitates. The size of the composite precipitates is very small (nanometer size). The composite precipitates will preclude efficiently the formation concentrative slip location and will improve the mechanical properties of the alloy. S′ phase will occur in the alloy aged at 160 ℃ after 8% pre deformation. It is found that 8% pre deformation has no obvious influence on the precipitation of the composite phase. | TAN Cheng yu,ZHENG Zi qiao,XIA Chang qing,LIANG Ying (Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Central South University of Technology, Changsha 410083, China) | 2000 | Journal of Central South University2000,12,2: | 22
