6Study of dynamic hydrophobicity of micro-structured hydrophobic surfaces and lotus leaves显示文摘The dynamic wetting characteristics of water droplets on silicon wafers with microscale regular pillars structures and fresh lotus leaves are investigated experimentally.We measured the static contact angle,contact angle hysteresis,and roll-off angle of water droplets on both of these superhydrophobic surfaces with a high speed contact angle meter.The dynamic contact angles and internal velocity distribution of water droplets on superhydrophobic surfaces were studied with a high-speed camera system and a particle image velocimetry (PIV) system,respectively.We found that the acceleration of water droplets when they slide off lotus leaves is greater than that of water droplets sliding off the silicon wafers with microscale pillar structures although the static contact angles of water droplets on lotus leaves are slightly smaller than those on the silicon wafers.The reason is that water droplets sliding off lotus leaves have smaller contact angle hysteresis and larger slip velocities.These results indicate that the dynamic contact angle hysteresis and sliding acceleration of liquid droplets are more suitable for reflecting the hydrophobicity of material surfaces compared with static contact angles.Our experiments also show that lotus leaves with multiscale micro/nanostructures have stronger hydrophobicity and self-cleaning properties compared with the micro-structured superhydrophobic surfaces.HAO PengFei YAO ZhaoHui ZHANG XiWen 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,4:10
7The measurement error analysis when a pitot probe is used in supersonic air flow显示文摘Pitot probes enable a simple and convenient way of measuring mean velocity in air flow.The contrastive numerical simulation between free supersonic airflow and pitot tube at different positions in supersonic air flow was performed using Navier-Stokes equations,the ENN scheme with time-dependent boundary conditions (TDBC) and the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model.The physical experimental results including pitot pressure and shadowgraph are also presented.Numerical results coincide with the experimental data.The flow characteristics of the pitot probe on the supersonic flow structure show that the measurement gives actually the total pressure behind the detached shock wave by using the pitot probe to measure the total pressure.The measurement result of the distribution of the total pressure can still represent the real free jet flow.The similar features of the intersection and reflection of shock waves can be identified.The difference between the measurement results and the actual ones is smaller than 10%.When the pitot probe is used to measure the region of L=0-4D,the measurement is smaller than the real one due to the increase of the shock wave strength.The difference becomes larger where the waves intersect.If the pitot probe is put at L=8D-10D,where the flow changes from supersonic to subsonic,the addition of the pitot probe turns the original supersonic flow region subsonic and causes bigger measurement errors.ZHANG XiWen HAO PengFei YAO ZhaoHui 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,4:3
8Slippery Properties and the Robustness of Lubricant-impregnated Surfaces显示文摘Inspired by nepenthes pitcher plants,Lubricant-Impregnated Surfaces(LISs)are surfaces with lubricant infused in the textures which form slippery interfaces.In this paper,we investigated slippery properties and the robustness of LISs with different micro-texture topologies(i.e.,no textures,micro-pillar textures and micro hole textures),including original LISs and LISs rinsed by water.We measured the static contact angle,sliding angle and droplet motions on the LISs,using a contact angle instrument and a Particle Image Velocimetry(P1V)system.Similar contact angles and small sliding angles were observed on all original LISs,which indicated that an oil-layer existed on each LIS's interface.After rinsed by water,the sliding angle increased obviously and the slip velocity decreased,which meant that the LISs slippery properties deteriorated in different degrees.Among all the LISs in our experiments,LIS with micro pillar textures has the best slippery performance and robustness before and after rinsed.We found that the LISs'slippery properties were closely related to the states of the oil-layer on the interface,which were changed after rinsed.For the LIS with micro pillar textures,a thin layer of lubricant can sustain on the interface even after rinse,which made the droplet slide smoothly on the surface,with a lower sliding angle and a larger sliding velocity.This indicates that the proper micro-texture will enhance the slippery property and make it last longer.Jingxian Zhang Zhaohui Yao 2019Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,2:1

10Predicting vibration signals of automobile engine using chaos theory显示文摘Condition monitoring and life prediction of the vehicle engine is an important and urgent problem during the vehicle development process. The vibration signals that are closely associated with the engine running condition and its development trend are complex and nonlinear. The chaos theory is used to treat the nonlinear dynamical system recently. A novel chaos method in conjunction with SVD (singular value decomposition)denoising skill are used to predict the vibration time series. 16Linearized relative motion equations through orbital element differences for general Keplerian orbits显示文摘A new formulation of the orbital element-based relative motion equations is developed for general Keplerian orbits.This new solution is derived by performing a Taylor expansion on the Cartesian coordinates in the rotating frame with respect to the orbital elements.The resulted solution is expressed in terms of two different sets of orbital elements.The first one is the classical orbital elements and the second one is the nonsingular orbital elements.Among of them,however,the semi-latus rectum and true anomaly are used due to their generality,rather than the semi-major axis and mean anomaly that are used in most references.This specific selection for orbital elements yields a new solution that is universally applicable to elliptic,parabolic and hyperbolic orbits.It is shown that the new orbital element-based relative motion equations are equivalent to the Tschauner–Hempel equations.A linear map between the initial orbital element differences and the integration constants associated with the solution of the Tschauner–Hempel equations is constructed.Finally,the presented solution is validated through comparison with a high-fidelity numerical orbit propagator.The numerical results demonstrate that the new solution is computationally effective;and the result is able to match the accuracy that is required for linear propagation of spacecraft relative motion over a broad range of Keplerian orbits.Zhaohui Dang Hao Zhang 2018Astrodynamics2018,2,3:1

18Effects of gas compressibility and surface roughness on the flow in microfluidic devices显示文摘With the development of the micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS),the flow characteristics in micro-channels have drawn increasing attention.In this paper,numerical simulations are conducted to investigate the flow characteristics of compressible flow through micro-channels and micronozzles.An improved surface roughness viscosity model is used to simulate the effect of surface roughness on micro-channels flow characteristics.Using this model,better agreements between the computational results and the experimental data are found.The result indicates that the surface roughness is one of the important factors affecting the flow characteristics of gas through micro-channels.The numerical investigation on the expansion channel shows that by using the laminar model that considers surface roughness,the computational results and experimental data are consistent when Re<450,whereas deviation increases when Re>450.Based on the synthetic model with considerations of turbulence viscosity and surface roughness,the numerical results and the experimental data are identical.YAO ZhaoHui HAO PengFei ZHANG XiWen 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,4:1
