2Magnetostratigraphy of the late Cenozoic Laojunmiao anticline in the northern Qilian Mountains and its implications for the northern Tibetan Plateau uplift显示文摘Cenozoic sediments in the foreland basin--Jiuquan Basin in west Hexi Corridor recorded tectonic uplift information of the Qilian Mountains. High resolution paleomagnetic dating of the Laojunmiao (LJM) section across the central LJM anticline in the southern Jiuquan Basin reveals ages of the Getanggou Member, Niugetao Member in the Shulehe Formation, the Yumen Conglomerate, Jiuquan Conglomerate and Gobi Formation at >13-8.3 Ma, 8.3-4.9 Ma, 3.66-0.93 Ma, 0.84-0.14 Ma and 0.14-0 Ma, respectively. Sedimentary evolution study suggests that the Qilian Mountains should begin to rise gradually since ~8-6.6 Ma, accompanied by sedimentary environments changing from lacustrine mudstones-sandstones to alluvial conglomerates. 4Expression of nuclear factor-KB in hepatocellular carcinoma and its relation with the X protein of hepatitis B virus显示文摘AIM In this study we investigated therelationship of the X protein of HBV and nuclearfactor-KB (NF-κB) and the expression of NF-KB inhuman hepatocellular carcinoma tissues.METHODS Immunohistochemistry SP methodwas used to detect the expression of NF-κB and the X protein of HBV in human hepatocellularcarcinoma tissues of 52 cases. Gene transfectionmediated by lipofectamine was used to transfectthe eukaryotic expression vector pCDNA3. 1-HBXof HBV x gene into human hepatocellularcarcinoma cell line HCC-9204 and NF-κB wasdetected.RESULTS NF-κB was widely expressed inhuman hepatocellular carcinoma tissues in atotal of 52 cases and its expression was relatedto the X protein of HBV. NF-KB was localizedboth in the cytoplasm and . The nuclei ofhepatocellular carcinoma cells in 11 cases whichwere positive for the X protein of HBV while in 41cases negative for the X protein of HBV, NF-Kbwas only localized in the cytoplasm ofhepatocellular carcinoma cells but translocatedto the nuclei of hepatocellular carcinoma cellsafter the eukaryotic expression vectorpCDNA3.1-HBX was transfected into HCC-9204cells.CONCLUSION This study strongly suggeststhat the nuclear factor NF-KB is widely expressedin hepatocellular carcinoma tissues in differentstyles according to the expression of the Xprotein of HBV. NF-κB is abnormally activated inhepatocellular carcinoma, which is probablyrelated to the X protein of HBV. 5Changes in the level of serum liver enzymes after laparoscopic surgery显示文摘AIM: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectof laparoscopic surgery on liver function in humans and thepossible mechanisms behind such effect.METHODS: Blood samples from 286 patients whounderwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) and 40patients who underwent open cholecystectomy (OC) weretested for liver function by measuring the level of serumalanine aminotrasferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotrasferase(AST) before and after the operations. The same tests werealso applied to 18 laparoscopic colorectal cancer resection(LCR) patients and 23 open colorectal cancer resection (OCR)patients to determine whether CO2 pneumoperitoneum couldalter the serum liver enzymes.RESULTS: The level of serum ALT and AST increasedsignificantly during the first 48 hours post operations in bothLC and LCR patients. However, no significant change of theserum liver enzymes was detected in both OC and OCRpatients. As a result, there was statistically significantdifference in change of both ALT and AST levels betweenLC and OC patients and LCR and OCR patients, respectively.By the 7th day post operation, the level of both enzymesreturned to normal values in LC, OC and OCR patients exceptLCR patients whose enzymes remained at a higher level.CONCLUSION: Transient elevation of hepatic transaminasesoccurred after laparoscopic surgery. The major causativefactor seemed to be the CO2 pneumoperitoneum. In mostof the laparoscopic surgery patients, the transient elevationof serum liver enzymes showed no apparent clinicalimplications. 6Treatment outcomes for different subgroups of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients treated with intensity-modulated radiation therapy显示文摘Although many studies have investigated intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC),sample sizes in the reported studies are usually small and different in outcomes in different T and N subgroups are seldom analyzed.Herein,we evaluated the outcomes of NPC patients treated with IMRT and further explored treatment strategy to improve such outcome.We collected clinical data of 865 NPC patients treated with IMRT alone or in combination with chemotherapy,and classified all cases into the following prognostic categories according to different TNM stages:early stage group (T1-2N0-1M0),advanced local disease group (T3-4N0-1M0),advanced nodal disease group (T1-2N2-3M0),and advanced locoregional disease group (T3-4N2-3M0).The 5-year overall survival (OS),local relapse-free survival (LRFS),and distant metastases-free survival (DMFS) were 83.0%,90.4%,and 84.0%,respectively.The early disease group had the lowest treatment failure rate,with a 5-year OS of 95.6%.The advanced local disease group and advanced nodal disease group had similar failure pattern and treatment outcomes as well as similar hazard ratios for death (4.230 and 4.625,respectively).The advanced locoregional disease group had the highest incidence of relapse and death,with a 5-year DMFS and OS of 62.3% and 62.2%,respectively,and a hazard ratio for death of 10.402.Comparing with IMRT alone,IMRT in combination with chemotherapy provided no significant benefit to locoregionally advanced NPC.Our results suggest that the decision of treatment strategy for NPC patients should consider combinations of T and N stages,and that IMRT alone for early stage NPC patients can produce satisfactory results.However,for advanced local,nodal,and locoregional disease groups,a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy is recommended.Sheng-Fa Su 1,2,3,Fei Han 1,2,Chong Zhao 1,2,Ying Huang 1,2,Chun-Yan Chen 1,2,Wei-Wei Xiao 1,2,Jia-Xin Li 1,2 and Tai-Xiang Lu 1,2 1 State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China,Guangzhou,Guangdong 510060,P.R.China 2 Department of Radiation Oncology,Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center,Guangzhou,Guangdong 510060,P.R.China 3 Department of Oncology,Guiyang Medical College Hospital,Tumor Hospital of Guizhou,Guiyang,Guizhou 550003,P.R.China. 2011Chinese Journal of Cancer2011,30,8:40
7Relationship between the Asian-Pacific oscillation and the tropical cyclone frequency in the western North Pacific显示文摘The relationship between the Asian-Pacific oscillation (APO) and the tropical cyclone frequency over the western North Pacific (WNP) in summer is preliminarily investigated through an analysis of ob- served data. The result has shown clearly that APO is significantly and positively correlated to the tropical cyclone frequency in the WNP. If APO is above (below) the normal in summer, more (less) tropical cyclones will tend to appear in the WNP. The present study also addresses the large-scale at- mospheric general circulation changes underlying the linkage between APO and the WNP tropical cy- clone frequency. 8Carbon isotope composition of the Lower Triassic marine carbonates, Lower Yangtze Region, South China显示文摘Studies on three Lower Triassic sections located on the shallow water platform, the deep water slope and in the deep water basin in the Lower Yangtze Region, South China, show the similar trend of carbon isotope evolution. Biostratigraphic correlations among the Lower Triassic sections on the basis of standard conodont zones indicate that three negative shifts occurred in the Griesbachian, the Smithian and the late Spathian stages respectively, and one distinctly positive shift occurred in the early Spathian stage. Trend of carbon isotope evolution of the Lower Triassic reflects some significant changes in the global carbon cycle. Moreover, δ 13C background values are intensively controlled by palaeogeographic environment. In general, δ 13C values from deep-water slope carbonates are lighter than those from carbonate platform and heavier than those from deep-water basin carbonates. The positive carbon isotope excursion may be induced by a significant amount of organic carbon burial in marine sediments and increase in primary productivity. 9Effect of cholecystokinin on cytokines during endotoxic shock in rats显示文摘AIM To study the effect of cholecystokinin-octapeptide (CCK-8) on systemic hypotension and cytokine production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced endotoxic shock (ES) rats.``METHODS The changes of blood pressure were observed using physiological record instrument in four groups of rats: LPS (8 mg. kg-1, iv) induced ES; CCK-8 (40 μg.kg- 1 iv) pretreatment 10 min before LPS (8 mg. kg- 1);CCK-8 (40 μg.kg-1, iv) or normal saline (control) groups.Differences in tissue and circulating specificity of the proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-a, IL-l3 and IL-6) were assayed with ELISA kits.``RESULTS CCK-8 reversed LPS-induced decrease of mean artery blood pressure (MABP) in rats. Compared with control, LPS elevated the serum level of IL-6 significantly (3567_-687 ng.L-1 vs 128_+22 ng.L-1, P<0.01), while contents of TNF-a and IL- lβ elevated significantly (277 _± 86ng.L-1 vs not detectable and 43 ± 9 ng.L-1 vs notdetectable, P<0.01) but less extent than IL-6, CCK-8significantly inhibited the LPS-induced increase in serum TNF-a, IL-lβ and IL-6. LPS elevated spleen and lung content of IL-Iβ significantly (5184 ± 85 ng.L-1 vs 1047 ±21 ng.L-1 and 4050 ± 614 ng.L-1 vs not detectable,P<0,01). while levels of TNF-a and IL-6 also rosesignificantly but in less extent than IL-lβ. CCK-8 inhibited the LPS-induced increase of the cytokines in spleen and lung. in the heart, CCK-8 significantly inhibited LPS.induced increase of TNF-a (864 ± 123 ng. 14Geochemistry and mineralogy of the Late Permian coals from the Songzao Coalfield, Chongqing, southwestern China显示文摘Mineralogy and geochemistry of the four main workable coal seams (No.6, No.7, No.8, and No.11) of Late Permian age from the Songzao Coalfield, Chongqing, Southwest China, were examined using in- ductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), cold-vapor absorption spectrometry (CV-AAS), ion-selective electrode (ISE), scanning electron mi- croscopy equipped with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (SEM-EDX), and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The results showed that the main workable No.8 Coal that accounts for about 60% of the total coal reserves in the Songzao Coalfield was not enriched in hazardous trace elements. The No.11 Coal has high concentrations of alkaline elements, Be (9.14 μg/g), Sc (12.9 μg/g), Ti (9508 μg/g), Mn (397 μg/g), Co (23.7 μg/g), Cu (108 μg/g), Zn (123 μg/g), Ga (32 μg/g), Zr (1304 μg/g), Nb (169 μg/g), Hf (32.7 μg/g), Ta (11.4 μg/g), W (24.8 μg/g), Hg (0.28 μg/g), Pb (28.1 μg/g), Th (24.1 μg/g), and rare earth elements (509.62 μg/g). The concentration of Nb and Ta in the No. 11 Coal is higher than the industrial grade, and their potential utilization should be further studied. Besides pyrite, quartz, calcite, and clay minerals, trace minerals including chalcopyrite, marcasite, siderite, albite, mixed-layer clay minerals of illite and smectite, monazite, apatite, anatase, chlorite, and gypsum were found in the No.11 Coal. It should be noted that alabandite of hydrothermal origin and anatase occurring as cement were identi- fied in coal. In addition, the clayey microbands derived from alkaline volcanic ashes were identified in the coal. The dominant compositions of these clayey microbands were mixed-layer clay minerals of illite and smectite, which were interlayered with organic bands. The modes of occurrence of alkaline volcanic ash bands indicate that the volcanic activities were characterized by the multiple eruptions, short time interval and small scale for each eruption during peat accumulation. 16Geomorphologic evolution and environmental changes in the Shaluli Mountain region during the Quaternary显示文摘Geologic and geomorphologic evidence from the Shaluli Mountain indicates that the planation surface that formed in the Late Tertiary disintegrated during the Late Pliocene-Early Quaternary. At the same time, rift ba- sins appeared on some parts of the planation surface, and began to accumulate fluvial-lacustrine sediment. These are interpreted as being the response of this region to Phase-A of the Qingzang Tectonic Movement. After this, the Shaluli Mountain continued to rise in several pulses. Faulting and incision by some large tributaries of the Jinsha and Yalong Rivers resulted in several rift river valleys and the earliest terraces. Generally, the planation surface in this region had been uplifted to about 3500—3700 m a.s.l. no later than 550—600 ka BP, after the Kunlun-Huanghe Tectonic Move- ment, and coupled with global glacial climate, and resulted in the earliest glaciation recognized so far in the Hengduan Mountains. At the same time, loess was deposited in the Ganzi area of the northern Shaluli Mountain. During the last glacial period, the Shaluli Mountain approached its present altitude and developed several large ice caps, such as the Daocheng Ice Cap and Xinlong Ice Cap, as well as several huge valley glaciers. 17Origin of ore-forming fluid in the Piaotang tungsten deposit in Jiangxi Province:Evidence from helium and argon isotopes显示文摘The Piaotang tungsten deposit in Jiangxi Province is one of the most important tungsten deposits in the South China Tungsten Metallogenic Province.In this study,we selected wolframite and chalcopyrite from the main mineralizing stage of the Piaotang tungsten deposit,and analyzed the helium and argon isotopic compositions in fluid inclusions of these minerals.The results show a 3He/4He ratio of 0.17 to 0.86 R/Ra,which fall within the range between continental crust(0.01―0.05 R/Ra) and air-saturated water(1 R/Ra) ,but are significantly lower than those of the normal mantle(6―9 R/Ra) .Their 40 Ar/36 Ar ratios are between 354.5 and 590.7,which are slightly higher than the air-saturated water(295.5) .Along with the other geochemical observation such as the lithium enrichments in the ore bodies and the ore-related granites,we suggest that the ore-forming fluid in the Piaotang tungsten deposit was mainly derived from crustal fluid.It may have mixed with some amounts of air-saturated water,but there was no considerable involvement of mantle-derived fluid.WANG XuDong 1,2,3,NI Pei 1,2,3,JIANG ShaoYong 1,3,ZHAO KuiDong 1,3 & WANG TianGang 1,2,3 1State Key Laboratory for Mineral Deposits Research,Nanjing University,Nanjing 210093,China 2Institute of Geo-Fluids,Nanjing University,Nanjing 210093,China 3 School of Earth Sciences and Engineering,Nanjing University,Nanjing 210093,China 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,7:26
18The global image of the Moon obtained by the Chang'E-1:Data processing and lunar cartography显示文摘The global lunar image of the first phase of Chinese Lunar Exploration Program is the first image that covered all over the surface of the Moon. It will serve as a critical foundation for succeeding exploration and scientific research. In this paper, the acquisition, characteristics, and data quality of Chang'E-1 CCD image data are described in detail. Also described are the methodology and procedure of data processing. According to rule of planetary cartography, the image data have been processed, geometrically corrected, and then mosaicked and merged in a scale of 1:2.5 million. The results of data processing and charting show that the image data of Chang'E-1 CCD and their geometric precision meet the demand of charting a map in the scale of 1:2.5 million. The relative geometric positioning precision of the global image is better than 240 m, and the absolute geometric positioning precision is slightly better than that of the ULCN2005 and Clementine lunar basemap (V2.0). The plane positioning precision is approximately 100-1500 m. 19Study of ozone “weekend effect” in Shanghai显示文摘Analysis of observed ozone data in 2006 from five monitoring sites (Xujiahui, Chongming, Baoshan, Pudong, Jinshan) in Shanghai reveals that ozone (O_3) concentrations in Xujiahui are higher at week-ends than those on weekdays, despite the fact that emissions of ozone precursor substances, such as oxides of nitrogen (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are lower at weekends than those on weekdays. The possible chemical cause of ozone 'weekend effect' is that NO_2/NO ratio increases at weekends by 25.61% compared with those on weekdays. In addition, because of an average 12.13% reduction in NOx (NO + NO_2) in the early morning (05:00-09:00) at weekends compared with that on weekdays, the ozone inhibition period ends 0.5 h earlier at weekends resulting in the longer duration of ozone accumulation and the higher ozone production rate. The rate of ozone production is a function of VOCs and NOx in the atmosphere. VOCs/NOx ratio in Xujiahui is 4.55 at weekends, and 4.37 on weekdays, belonging to the 'NOx-limited'. The increasing VOCs/NOx ratio at weekends leads to ozone enhancement from 73 ppbv to 80 ppbv, which are consistent with ozone 'weekend effect' in Xujiahui.
