2The descriptive epidemiology of sitting in Chilean adults: Results from the National Health Survey 2009-2010显示文摘Background: Although evidence on the health effects of sedentary behavior(SB) has grown systematically in recent years, few developing countries have reported population levels of SB, especially in South America. Our objective was to describe time spent sitting in a representative sample from Chile categorized by age, gender, educational level, and body mass index(BMI).Methods: A national health survey was conducted in Chile in a nationally representative sample(n = 5411) in 2009-2010. Sitting time(ST) was measured with the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire Version 2.Results: Data were from 5031 participants(43.26±0.41 years, mean±SE; 40.3% male). Overall, there were no gender differences in mean ST(men: 158.10±5.80 min/day, women 143.45±4.77 min/day; p = 0.05). ST was lower in those who lived in rural areas compared with urban areas(99.4 min/day vs. 160.0 min/day; p = 0.001). ST increased significantly with increasing BMI, but only in men(p = 0.009), and was positively related to years of education in both men and women(p < 0.0001).Conclusion: The findings were different from those reported in other countries and contexts, reinforcing the need for international surveillance and monitoring over time to inform policy makers. Differences in ST across different groups emphasize the need to develop tailored messages and interventions for reducing ST in different population subgroups.Nicolas Aguilar-Farias Pia Martino-Fuentealba ANDrea Cortinez-O'Ryan Damian Chandia-Poblete Carlos A.Celis-Morales Paz Bahamondes Jaime Leppe Zamora Wendy J.Brown 2019Journal of Sport and Health Science2019,8,1:1
3The importance of different forms of prevention in travel medicine显示文摘The Asia-Pacific region is becoming an increasingly popular destination for holidaymakers and business travelers.Despite the seductive tourist attractions and the growing financial importance of the region, infectious diseases have unfortunately repeatedly caused major epidemics in the region. The area includes various geographical situations from high mountains to the subtropical and monsoon forests, dry deserts and seashore. The travel medicine specialist’s task is to decrease the various risk of travel to the region.Infectious diseases, extreme temperatures and marine hazards could be almost entirely prevented by primary prevention forms of travel medicine such as vaccination, chemoprophylaxis and pretravel advice. There are some high-risk groups(e.g.,elderly people, backpackers, families with children, adventure travelers) among the growing number of tourists.Obviously, the increased numbers of such travelers result in a rising incidence of travelrelated illnesses and accidents. For those groups, primary prevention sometimes is not enough. The pretravel medical check up,specialists’ consultations and treatment,as forms of secondary prevention, are also essential in travel medicine.Patients who suffer from serious illnesses or who have accidents must often be repatriated.'State-of-the-art repatriation',as a special form of tertiary prevention of travel medicine will play an important role in the future and is direcdy related to effective travel insurance, which could help in providing good medical care to the patients even far from their home. The levels, methods and importance of prevention in travel medicine are discussed in this article.Peter Felkai 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,1:0

Yet, we have known for decades that the vast majority of athero-sclerosis and its subsequent morbidity and mortality are influenced predominantly by diet. This paper will describe a health-promoting wholefood, plant-based diet; delineate macro- and micro-nulxition, emphasizing specific geriatric concerns; and offer guidance to physicians andother healthcare practitioners to support patients in successfully utilizing nutrition to improve their health.Julieanna Hever Raymond J Cronise 2017Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2017,14,5:0
