1CAD and CAE Integration Through Scientific Visualization Techniques for Illumination Design显示文摘Engineers tend to use different software to perform tasks such as geometry modeling, database management, numerical analysis, and visualization. This may cause decrease of productivity and loss of information during the conversion process between different data file formats. This paper presents a computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided engineering (CAE) system integration using scientific visualization tools and techniques. It deals with the development of a 3D CAD add-in for lighting analysis which uses the CAD model as 3D interface for creating a lighting scheme, processing, and visualizing 2D or 3D illuminance fields. Visualization features as color and contour mapping were developed using the visualization toolkit (VTK) toolkit. The application integrates all functionalities of the 3D CAD with tools for light sources database management, pre-processing, processing, and post-processing of illuminance fields in a single environment. 4Efficient full-path optical calculation of scalar and vector diffraction using the Bluestein method显示文摘Efficient calculation of the light diffraction in free space is of great significance for tracing electromagnetic field propagation and predicting the performance of optical systems such as microscopy,photolithography,and manipulation.However,existing calculation methods suffer from low computational efficiency and poor flexibility.Here,we present a fast and flexible calculation method for computing scalar and vector diffraction in the corresponding optical regimes using the Bluestein method.The computation time can be substantially reduced to the sub-second level,which is 105 faster than that achieved by the direct integration approach(~hours level)and 102 faster than that achieved by the fast Fourier transform method(~minutes level).The high efficiency facilitates the ultrafast evaluation of light propagation in diverse optical systems.Furthermore,the region of interest and the sampling numbers can be arbitrarily chosen,endowing the proposed method with superior flexibility.Based on these results,full-path calculation of a complex optical system is readily demonstrated and verified by experimental results,laying a foundation for real-time light field analysis for realistic optical implementation such as imaging,laser processing,and optical manipulation.Yanlei Hu Zhongyu Wang Xuewen Wang Shengyun Ji Chenchu Zhang Jiawen Li Wulin Zhu Dong Wu Jiaru Chu 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:4

6Analysis of thickness-shear and thickness-twist modes of AT-cut quartz acoustic wave resonator and filter显示文摘The thickness-shear(TS) and thickness-twist(TT) vibrations of partially electroded AT-cut quartz plates for acoustic wave resonator and filter applications are theoretically studied. The plates have structural variations in one of the two in-plane directions of the plates only. The scalar differential equations derived by Tiersten and Smythe for electroded and unelectroded AT-cut quartz plates are used, resulting in free vibration resonant frequencies and mode shapes for both fundamental and overtone families of modes. The trapped modes with vibrations, mainly confined in the electroded areas, are found to exist in both the resonator and the filter structures. 10POINTWISE CONVERGENCE RATE OF VANISHING VISCOSITY APPROXIMATIONS FOR SCALAR CONSERVATION LAWS WITH BOUNDARY显示文摘This article is concerned with the pointwise error estimates for vanishing vis- cosity approximations to scalar convex conservation laws with boundary.By the weighted error function and a bootstrap extrapolation technique introduced by Tadmor-Tang,an optimal pointwise convergence rate is derived for the vanishing viscosity approximations to the initial-boundary value problem for scalar convex conservation laws,whose weak entropy solution is piecewise C 2 -smooth with interaction of elementary waves and the boundary. 12Montgomery Algorithm over a Prime Field显示文摘New formulae for point addition and point doubling on elliptic curves over prime fields are presented.Based on these formulae, an improved Montgomery algorithm is proposed. The theoretical analysis indicates that it is about 13.4% faster than Brier and Joye's Montgomery algorithm. 15Review on cochlear implant electrode array tip fold-over and scalar deviation显示文摘Objective: Determine the occurrence rate of cochlear implant (CI) electrode tip fold-over and electrode scalar deviation as reported in patient cases with different commercial electrode types. Data-sources: PubMed search for identifying peer-reviewed articles published till 2018 on CI electrode tip fold-over and scalar deviation. Key-words for searching were “Cochlear electrode tip fold-over”,“Cochlear electrode scalar position” and “Cochlear electrode scalar location”. Articles-selection: Only if electrode related issues were investigated in patient cases. 38 articles met the inclusion-criteria. Results: 13 articles on electrode tip fold-over issue covering 3177 implanted ears, out of which 50 ears were identified with electrode tip fold-over with an occurrence rate of 1.57%. Out of 50 ears, 43 were implanted with pre-curved electrodes and the remaining 7 with lateral-wall electrodes. One article reported on both tip fold-over and scalar deviation. 26 articles reported on the electrode scalar deviation covering an overall number of 2046 ears out of which, 458 were identified with electrode scalar deviation at a rate of 22.38%. After removing the studies that did not report on the number of electrodes per electrode type, it was 1324 ears implanted with pre-curved electrode and 507 ears with lateral-wall electrode. Out of 1324 pre-curved electrode implanted ears, 424 were reported with scalar deviation making an occurrence rate of 32%. Out of 507 lateral-wall electrode implanted ears, 43 were associated with scalar deviation at an occurrence rate of 6.7%. Conclusion: This literature review revealing the fact of higher rate of electrode insertion trauma associated with pre-curved electrode type irrespective of CI brand is one step closer to obsolete it from the clinical practice in the interest of patient's cochlear health.Anandhan Dhanasingh Claude Jolly 2019Journal of Otology2019,14,3:2
16Low-complexity fractional phase estimation for totally blind channel estimation显示文摘To remove the scalar ambiguity in conventional blind channel estimation algorithms, totally blind channel estimation(TBCE) is proposed by using multiple constellations. To estimate the unknown scalar, its phase is decomposed into a fractional phase and an integer phase. However, the maximum-likelihood(ML) algorithm for the fractional phase does not have closed-form solutions and suffers from high computational complexity. By exploring the structures of widely used constellations, this paper proposes a low-complexity fractional phase estimation algorithm which requires no exhaustive search. Analytical expressions of the asymptotic mean squared error(MSE) are also derived. 17New explicit algebraic stress and flux model for active scalar and simulation of shear stratified cylinder wake flow显示文摘On the numerical simulation of active scalar,a new explicit algebraic expression on active scalar flux was derived based on Wikstrm,Wallin and Johansson model (aWWJ model). Reynolds stress algebraic expressions were added by a term to account for the buoyancy effect. The new explicit Reynolds stress and active scalar flux model was then established. Governing equations of this model were solved by finite volume method with unstructured grids. The thermal shear stratified cylinder wake flow was computed by this new model. The computational results are in good agreement with laboratorial measurements. 18Scalar Alternatives and Scalar Inference Involving Adjectives:A Comment on van Tiel,et al.(2016)显示文摘Doran, et al.(2009, 2012) and van Tiel, et al.(2016) have presented experimental evidence that gradable adjectives (e.g.cool) yield scalar inferences (e.g.to not cold) significantly less often than do numerals, quantifiers and modals;their data also reveal considerable variability within the class of adjectives in the frequency with which inferences are likely to be generated.Van Tiel, et al.consider two main explanations for this variation:differences among pairs of adjectives in what they call scale distinctness (how easy or difficult it is to differentiate the adjectives), and differences in scale availability (how salient the stronger scalar alternative is).They argue that only scale distinctness plays a role, and a rather small one at that;they leave most of the variation unexplained.In this comment, I argue that their measures of scale availability were too crude to detect a role for contextual variation in the scalar alternatives that subjects consider, but that this latter variation is, in fact, a very plausible part of the explanation for the results.I discuss some specific ways adjectives might yield different scalar alternatives in different contexts, under sufficiently sophisticated assumptions about their lexical semantics and about the rhetorical structure of discourse.Louise McNally 2019外国语2019,42,3:1
