Optimization of the head shape of the CRH3 high speed train显示文摘Aiming at optimizing the head shape of the CRH3 high speed train, an efficient optimization approach is proposed. The CFD analysis by solving Navier-Stokes equations is coupled with optimization calculation based on the multi-objective genetic algorithm, meanwhile the arbitrary shape deformation technique (ASD) is also introduced into the design flow, which greatly shortens the time consumption for geometry regeneration and flow field remeshing. As a result, the efficiency of the optimization calculation is highly improved. Statistical analysis is done to the designs in the design space, and the correlation between the design variables and the objective is studied to find out the key variables that most affect the objective. Response surface analysis is also performed to get the nonlinear relationship between the key design variables and the objective with the Kriging algorithm. Finally, after the optimization, an aerodynamic performance comparison between the optimal shape and the original shape reveals that the original shape of CRH3 high speed train owns a very stable aerodynamic performance and can be trustingly used in industry. | SUN ZhenXu1, SONG JingJing1 & AN YiRan1 College of Engineering, State Key Laboratory for Turbulence and Complex Systems, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,12: | 35

Effect of RANS Turbulence Model on Aerodynamic Behavior of Trains in Crosswind显示文摘The numerical simulation based on Reynolds time-averaged equation is one of the approved methods to evaluate the aerodynamic performance of trains in crosswind. However, there are several turbulence models, trains may present different aerodynamic performances in crosswind using different turbulence models. In order to select the most suitable turbulence model, the inter-city express 2(ICE2)model is chosen as a research object,6 different turbulence models are used to simulate the flow characteristics, surface pressure and aerodynamic forces of the train in crosswind,respectively.6 turbulence models are the standard k-ε,Renormalization Group(RNG)k-ε,Realizable k-ε,Shear Stress Transport(SST)k-ω,standard k-ωand Spalart-Allmaras(SPA),respectively.The numerical results and the wind tunnel experimental data are compared. The results show that the most accurate model for predicting the surface pressure of the train is SST k-ω,followed by Realizable k-ε.Compared with the experimental result, the error of the side force coefficient obtained by SST k-ωand Realizable k-εturbulence model is less than 1%.The most accurate prediction for the lift force coefficient is achieved by SST k-ω,followed by RNG k-ε.By comparing 6 different turbulence models, the SST k-ωmodel is most suitable for the numerical simulation of the aerodynamic behavior of trains in crosswind. | Tian Li Deng Qin Jiye Zhang | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2019,32,5: | 13
Coupled dynamic model of state estimation for hypersonic glide vehicle显示文摘Aiming at handling complicated maneuvers or other unpredicted emergencies for hypersonic glide vehicle tracking, three coupled dynamic models of state estimation based on the priori information between guidance variables and aerodynamics are presented. Firstly, the aerodynamic acceleration acting on the target is analyzed to reveal the essence of the target's motion. Then three coupled structures for modeling aerodynamic parameters are developed by different ideas: the spiral model with a harmonic oscillator, the bank model with trigonometric functions of the bank angle and the guide model with the changing rule of guidance variables. Meanwhile, the comparison discussion is concluded to show the novelty and advantage of these models. Finally, a performance assessment in different simulation cases is presented and detailed analysis is revealed. The results show that the proposed models perform excellent properties. Moreover, the guide model produces the best tracking performance and the bank model shows the second; however, the spiral model does not outperform the maneuvering reentry vehicle(MaRV) model markedly. | ZHANG Kai XIONG Jiajun FU Tingting | 2018 | Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2018,29,6: | 12
Exposure to ambient air particulate matter and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘The present study was designed to alert the public opinion and policy makers on the supposed enhancing effects of exposure to ambient air particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters < 2.5 mm (PM 2.5 ) on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), the most common chronic liver disease in Western countries. For far too long literature data have been fixated on pulmonary diseases and/or cardiovascular disease, as consequence of particulate exposure, ignoring the link between the explosion of obesity with related syndromes such as NAFLD and air pollution, the worst characteristics of nowadays civilization. In order to delineate a clear picture of this major health problem, further studies should investigate whether and at what extent cigarette smoking and exposure to ambient air PM 2.5 impact the natural history of patients with obesity-related NAFLD,i.e. , development of non alcoholic steatohepatitis, disease characterized by a worse prognosis due its progression towards fibrosis and hepatocarcinoma. | Giovanni Tarantino Domenico Capone Carmine Finelli | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,25: | 11
Numerical simulation of aerodynamic interaction for a tilt rotor aircraft in helicopter mode显示文摘A rotor CFD solver is developed for simulating the aerodynamic interaction phenomenon among rotor, wing and fuselage of a tilt rotor aircraft in its helicopter mode. The unsteady Navier–Stokes equations are discretized in inertial frame and embedded grid system is adopted for describing the relative motion among blades and nacelle/wing/fuselage. A combination of multi-layer embedded grid and ‘‘extended hole fringe' technique is complemented in original grid system to tackle grid assembly difficulties arising from the narrow space among different aerodynamic components, and to improve the interpolation precision by decreasing the cell volume discrepancy among different grid blocks. An overall donor cell searching and automatic hole cutting technique is used for grid assembly, and the solution processes are speeded up by introduction of Open MP parallel method. Based on this solver, flow fields and aerodynamics of a tilt rotor aircraft in hover are simulated with several rotor collective angles, and the corresponding states of an isolated rotor and rotor/wing/fuselage model are also computed to obtain reference solution.Aerodynamic interference influences among the rotor and wing/fuselage/nacelle are analyzed, and some meaningful conclusions are drawn. | Ye Liang Zhang Ying Yang Shuo Zhu Xinglin Dong Jun | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2016,29,4: | 10
Design and implementation of rigid-flexible coupling for a half-flexible single jack nozzle显示文摘The aerodynamic design of a rigid-flexible coupling profile is the decisive factor for the flow-field quality of a supersonic free jet wind tunnel nozzle, and its mechanic dynamic features are the key for engineering implementation of continuous Mach number regulations. To fulfill the requirements of a free jet inlet/engine compatibility test within a wide simulation envelop, both uniform flow-fields of continuous acceleration and deceleration are necessary. In this paper, the aerodynamic design methods of an expansion wall and machinery implementation plan for the halfflexible single jack nozzle were researched. The profile control in nozzle flexible plate design was studied with a rigid-flexible coupling method. Design and calculations were performed with the help of numerical simulation. The technique of axial free stretching of the flexible plate was used to improve the matching performance between the designed elasticity profile and the theoretical one, and the rigid-flexible coupling structure was calibrated by wind tunnel tests. Results indicate that the flexible plate aerodynamic design method used here is effective and feasible. Via rigidflexible coupling design, the flexible plate agrees with the rigid body very well, and continuous Mach number changes can be achieved during the tests. The nozzle's exit flow-field uniformity meets the requirements of China Military Standard(GJB). | Chen Pengfei Wu Feng Xu Jinglei Feng Xudong Yang Qiao | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2016,29,6: | 8
Numerical study on the restriction speed of train passing curved rail in cross wind显示文摘The results of numerical investigations of aerodynamic forces and moment coefficients of flow passing a simplified train geometry under different wind speeds are summarized. To compute numerically the different coefficients, the three-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations, combined with the k-ε turbulence model, were solved using finite volume technique. The pres-sure-velocity fields were coupled using the SIMPLE algorithm. At each iteration the pressure correction was obtained by solving a velocity divergence-derived Poisson-like equation. With the computed aerodynamic forces, the formula of the restriction speed at which the train passed curved rail in cross wind was deduced to analyse the influences of aerodynamic forces on the restriction speed. Results of numerical investigations showed that aerodynamic lift and overturn moment increased more and more rapidly with train speed and wind speed. The enhancement trends showed nonlinear phenomena and enhanced risk in the course of train movement. When the train travels at a high speed and encounters a huge cross wind, the influence involved by nonlinear risk increment will extremely impair safety of train. The following conclusion can also be drawn: The effect of aerodynamic lift makes restriction speed reduce, however, the influences of aerodynamic drag to the limit train speed rest on the direction of wind flow. When the wind blows from inner rail to outer rail, aerodynamic forces shall reduce the restriction speed, by contraries, when the wind blows from outer rail to inner rail, aerodynamic forces shall increase the restriction speed. | CHEN RuiLin ZENG QingYuan ZHONG XinGu XIANG Jun GUO XiaoGang ZHAO Gang | 2009 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,7: | 8
Experimental and numerical study of chaff cloud kinetic performance under impact of high speed airflow显示文摘To solve the kinetic and diffusion problem of surface-type infrared decoy, multi-chaff kinetic models are established and chaff cloud holistic kinetic performance are analyzed under the impact of high speed airflow in this work. Chaffs rotate rapidly during the motion under the impact of high speed airflow. The rotation speed is correlated with lift, position of pressure center and aerodynamic damping. Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) is used to compute the aerodynamic coefficients of chaff. It is found that there exists serious aerodynamic interference which mainly relates to the overlapping area and distance among chaffs during the diffusion of chaff cloud. The chaff wind tunnel test and rocket sled experiment are carried out to verify the credibility of the models in this work. Then, the variation of chaff cloud expectation and extremum are analyzed to achieve the holistic kinetic and diffusing performance of chaff cloud. Simulation results demonstrate that the chaffs diffuse rapidly under the impact of high speed airflow and chaff cloud can be formed rapidly within 0.5 s. The shape of the chaff cloud is similar to cone that forms a certain angle with the horizontal plane and most chaffs focus on the second half. | Hesong HUANG Zhongxiang TONG Shijie CHAI Yu ZHANG | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2018,31,11: | 8
A study of morphing aircraft on morphing rules along trajectory显示文摘Morphing aircraft can meet requirements of multi-mission during the whole flight due to changing the aerodynamic shape,so it is necessary to study itsmorphing rules along the trajectory. However, trajectory planning considering morphing variables requires a huge number of expensive CFD computations due to the morphing in view of aerodynamic performance.Under the given missions and trajectory,to alleviate computational cost and improve trajectory-planning efficiency formorphing aircraft,an offline optimizationmethod is proposed based onMulti-Fidelity Kriging(MFK)modeling. The angle of attack,Mach number, sweep angle and axial position of the morphing wing are defined as variables for generating training data for building the MFK models,in which many inviscid aerodynamic solutions are used as low-fidelity data, while the less high-fidelity data are obtained by solving viscous flow. Then the built MFK models of the lift, drag and pressure centre at the different angles of attack andMach numbers are used to predict the aerodynamic performance of the morphing aircraft, which keeps the optimal sweep angle and axial position of the wing during trajectory planning.Hence, themorphing rules can be correspondingly acquired along the trajectory, aswell as keep the aircraftwith the best aerodynamic performance during thewhole task. The trajectory planning of amorphing aircraft was performed with the optimal aerodynamic performance based on the MFK models, built by only using 240 low-fidelity data and 110 high-fidelity data. The results indicate that a complex trajectory can take advantage of morphing rules in keeping good aerodynamic performance, and the proposed method is more efficient than trajectory optimization by reducing 86%of the computing time. | Xiaoyu CHEN Chunna LI Chunlin GONG Liangxian GU Andrea Da RONCH | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,7: | 8

Effects of yaw-roll coupling ratio on lateraldirectional aerodynamic characteristics显示文摘Experimental investigation of large amplitude yaw-roll coupled oscillations was conducted in a low-speed wind tunnel using an aircraft configuration model. A special test rig was designed and constructed to provide different coupled motions from low to high angles of attack.A parameter ‘‘coupling ratio' was introduced to indicate the extent of yaw-roll coupling. At each pitch angle, seven coupling ratios were designed to study the yaw-roll coupling effects on the lateraldirectional aerodynamic characteristics systematically. At high angles of attack, the damping characteristics of yawing and rolling moments drastically varied with coupling ratios. In the coupled motions with the rotation taking place about the wind axis, the lateral-directional aerodynamic moments exhibited unsteady characteristics and were different from the ‘‘quasi-steady' results of the rotary balance tests. The calculated results of the traditional aerodynamic derivative method were also compared with the experimental data. At low and very high angles of attack, the aerodynamic derivative method was applicative. However, within a wide range of angles of attack, the calculated results of aerodynamic derivative method were inconsistent with the experimental data, due to the drastic changes of damping characteristics of lateral-directional aerodynamic moments with yaw-roll coupling ratios. | Lin SHEN Da HUANG Genxing WU | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2019,32,2: | 7
Hybrid CFD/FEM-BEM simulation of cabin aerodynamic noise for vehicles traveling at high speed显示文摘Flow passing a vehicle may lead to the increase of the cabin interior noise level through a variety of mechanisms. These mechanisms include vibrations caused by aerodynamic excitations and reradiation from the glass panels, exterior noise trans-mitted and leaked through door seals including gaps and glass edge, and transmission of airborne noise generated by the interaction of flow with body panels. It is of vital importance to predict both the flow fields and the acoustic sources around the ve-hicle to accurately assess the impact of wind induced noise inside the cabin. In the present study, an unstructured segregated finite volume model was used to calculate the flow fields in which a hexahedron grid is used to simplify the vehicle geometry.A large eddy simulation coupled with a wall function model was applied to predict the exterior transient flow fields. The mean flow quantities were thus calculated along the symmetry plane and the vehicle's side windows. A coupled FEM/BEM method was used to compute the vehicle's interior noise level. The total contribution of the interior noise level due to the body panels of the vehicle was subsequently analyzed. | WANG YiPing ZHEN Xin WU Jing GU ZhengQi XIAO ZhenYi YANG Xue | 2013 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,7: | 7
GENETIC ALGORITHMS AND GAME THEORY FOR HIGH LIFT DESIGN PROBLEMS IN AERODYNAMICS显示文摘A multi-objective evolutionary optimization method (combining genetic algorithms(GAs)and game theory(GT))is presented for high lift multi-airfoil systems in aerospace engineering.Due to large dimension global op-timization problems and the increasing importance of low cost distributed parallel environments,it is a natural idea to replace a globar optimization by decentralized local sub-optimizations using GT which introduces the notion of games associated to an optimization problem. The GT/GAs combined optimization method is used for recon-struction and optimization problems by high lift multi-air-foil desing.Numerical results are favorably compared with single global GAs.The method shows teh promising robustness and efficient parallel properties of coupled GAs with different game scenarios for future advanced multi-disciplinary aerospace techmologies. | PériauxJacques WangJiangfeng WuYizhao | 2002 | Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2002,19,1: | 7
Motion stability of high-speed maglev systems in consideration of aerodynamic effects: a study of a single magnetic suspension system显示文摘In this study, the intrinsic mechanism of aerodynamic effects on the motion stability of a high-speed maglev system was investigated. The concept of a critical speed for maglev vehicles considering the aerodynamic effect is proposed. The study was carried out based on a single magnetic suspension system, which is convenient for proposing relevant concepts and obtaining explicit expressions. This study shows that the motion stability of the suspension system is closely related to the vehicle speed when aerodynamic effects are considered. With increases of the vehicle speed, the stability behavior of the system changes. At a certain vehicle speed, the stability of the system reaches a critical state, followed by instability. The speed corresponding to the critical state is the critical speed. Analysis reveals that when the system reaches the critical state, it takes two forms, with two critical speeds, and thus two expressions for the critical speed are obtained. The conditions of the existence of the critical speed were determined, and the effects of the control parameters and the lift coefficient on the critical speed were analyzed by numerical analysis. The results show that the first critical speed appears when the aerodynamic force is upward, and the second critical speed appears when the aerodynamic force is downward. Moreover, both critical speeds decrease with the increase of the lift coefficient. | Han Wu Xiao-Hui Zeng Yang Yu | 2017 | Acta Mechanica Sinica2017,33,6: | 7
Design of low noise airfoil with high aerodynamic performance for use on small wind turbines显示文摘Wind power is one of the most reliable renewable energy sources and internationally installed capacity is increasing radically every year.Although wind power has been favored by the public in general, the problem with the impact of wind turbine noise on people living in the vicinity of the turbines has been increased.Low noise wind turbine design is becoming more and more important as noise is spreading more adverse effect of wind turbine to public. This paper demonstrates the design of 10 kW class wind turbines, each of three blades,a rotor diameter 6.4 m,a rated rotating speed 200 r/min and a rated wind speed 10 m/s.The optimized airfoil is dedicated for the 75% spanwise position because the dominant source of a wind turbine blade is trailing edge noise from the outer 25% of the blade.Numerical computations are performed for incompressible flow and for Mach number at 0.145 and for Reynolds numbers at 1.02×106 with a lift performance, which is resistant to surface contamination and turbulence intensity. The objectives in the design process are to reduce noise emission, while sustaining high aerodynamic efficiency.Dominant broadband noise sources are predicted by semi-empirical formulas composed of the groundwork by Brooks et al.and Lowson associated with typical wind turbine operation conditions.During the airfoil redesign process, the aerodynamic performance is analyzed to reduce the wind turbine power loss. The results obtained from the design process show that the design method is capable of designing airfoils with reduced noise using a commercial 10 kW class wind turbine blade airfoil as a basis. Therefore, the new optimized airfoil showing 2.9 dB reductions of total sound pressure level(SPL) and higher aerodynamic performance are achieved. | Taehyung KIM Seungmin LEE Hogeon KIM Soogab LEE | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,1: | 7
Aeroelastic optimization design for wing with maneuver load uncertainties显示文摘An aeroelastic optimization design methodology for air vehicle considering the uncertainties in maneuver load conditions is presented and applied to a structural design process of low-aspect-ratio wing. An aerodynamic load correction model is developed and used to predict the critical load conditions with the perturbations of theoretical linear aerodynamic forces and experimental aerodynamic forces from wind-tunnel test, when concerning the uncertainties in use of theoretical linear and experimental aerodynamic forces. Three objective functions of critical loads are defined. The load evaluations for three wing sections are investigated in four characteristic maneuvers, and the most critical load conditions are confirmed by using the sequential quadratic programming method. On this basis, the aeroelastic optimization design employing the genetic-gradient hybrid algorithm is conducted, in which the objective is to minimize structural mass subject to the constraints of stress, deformation and flutter speed. The resulting optimal structure is heavier than the one simply based on the theoretical linear or experimental aerodynamic forces. However, it is more robust when encountering the critical load conditions in actual flight due to the consideration of uncertainties in aerodynamic forces in the early design phase, thereby, the risk of structural redesign can be reduced. | YANG Chao, XIAO ZhiPeng*, WAN ZhiQiang, YAN De & DAI YuTing School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering, Beihang University, Beijing 100191, China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,11: | 6
Conceptual design and optimization of a tilt-rotor micro air vehicle显示文摘The conceptual design and optimization of a tilt-rotor Micro Air Vehicle(MAV) for a well-defined mission are performed. The objective of this design cycle is to decrease the design time in order to efficiently create a functional tilt-rotor drone. A flight mission is firstly defined for a tiltrotor MAV performing hovering and cruise flight scenarios. Secondly, a complex wing shape is chosen and modeled in order to determine the final shape. The initial shape is scaled in order to acquire an arbitrary wingspan of one meter. For the specific area and wingspan, the aspect ratio of the designed wing shape is found to be equal to 2.32. Thirdly, a constraint analysis of the MAV is performed by using an energy balance analysis for six different flight scenarios. This analysis yields the required power loading and wing loading. Fourthly, the weight of the vehicle is estimated using both statistical and computational methods. After estimating the total weight and the wing loading of the MAV, the surface of the wing is determined, yielding a final wingspan of 0.76 m. Subsequently, considering the total weight of the designed MAV, the needed lift coefficient is determined.Fifthly, using the lift coefficient in conjunction with XLFR5, a batch of airfoils is selected and analyzed to evaluate the aerodynamic coefficients of the wing with each airfoil. This analysis ultimately leads to the optimum airfoil being selected. Finally, design of the fuselage and tail, internal components selection, and servo-mechanisms design are carried out prior to a stability analysis. All these proposed steps are needed to design efficient and functional tilt-rotor MAVs. | M.HASSANALIAN R.SALAZAR A.ABDELKEFI | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2019,32,2: | 6
An experimental study on self-output-control characteristics of micro downwind rotor with coning soft blades显示文摘In this short paper,we have treated the aerodynamic performance of micro downwind rotor with coning soft blades experimentally. The test wind rotor has the tip diameter of 1.5 m and three two-dimensional NACA0018 blades of 0.15 m chord whose material is light, soft and pliable foam plastic for perfect safety. From the wind tunnel test,it is realized that the performance is manageable by the coning angle of the rotor blade. In the present case,an improvement of the performance in lower wind speeds is achieved by using the coning blade of 20°.Besides,owing to the torsional deformation of very soft blade, the self-power control characteristic is observed in every test rotor regardless of coning angle in the range of 0°-20° under the wind speed less than 12 m/s. | EGUCHI Hidenori YOSHIDA Kouichi NISHI Michihiro | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,1: | 6
Aerodynamic characteristics research on wide-speed range waverider configuration显示文摘Waverider generated from a given flow field has a high lift-to-drag ratio because of attached bow shock on leading edge. However, leading edge blunt and off-design condition can make bow shock off leading edge and have unfavorable influence on aerodynamic characteristics. So these two problems have always been concerned as important engineering science issues by aeronautical engineering scientists. In this paper, through respectively using low speed and high speed waverider design principles, a wide-speed rang vehicle is designed, which can level takeoff and accelerate to hypersonic speed for cruise. In addition, sharp leading edge is blunted to alleviated aeroheating. Theoretical study and wind tunnel test show that this vehicle has good aerodynamic performance in wide-speed range of subsonic, transonic, supersonic and hypersonic speeds. | WANG FaMin DING HaiHe LEI MaiFang | 2009 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,10: | 6
