1Special hybrid stress element for stress analyses around circular cutouts in laminated composites显示文摘A 3-dimensional hybrid stress element with a traction-free cylindrical surface based on amodified complementary energy principle has been derived for efficient and accurate analysis of stressconcentration around circular cutouts in thin to thick laminated composites. New expressions of sixstress components are developed by using three stress-functions in cylindrical co-ordinates, so that thehomogeneous equilibrium equations, the interlayer surface transverse-stresses and the traction-freeboundary condition on the cylindrical surface are satisfied exactly, while the interelement traction conti-nuity has been relaxed via the Lagrange multiplier method. Transverse-shear deformation effects areincorporated in each layer with displacement continuity enforced along interlayer surface. 2Modeling of CVI process in fabrication of carbon/carbon composites by an artificial neural network显示文摘The chemical vapor infiltration(CVI) process in fabrication of carbon-carbon composites is very complex and highly inefficient, which adds considerably to the cost of fabrication and limits the application of the material. This paper tries to use a supervised artificial neural network(ANN) to model the nonlinear relationship between parameters of isothermal CVI(ICVI) processes and physical properties of C/C composites. A model for preprocessing dataset and selecting its topology is developed using the Levenberg-Marquardt training algorithm and trained with comprehensive dataset of tubal C/C components collected from experimental data and abundant simulated data obtained by the finite element method. A basic repository on the domain knowledge of CVI processes is established via sufficient data mining by the network. With the help of the repository stored in the trained network, not only the time-dependent effects of parameters in CVI processes but also their coupling effects can be analyzed and predicted. 3Effects of Ti, Al and Hf on niobium silcides formation in the Nb-Si in situ composites显示文摘The effects of alloying elements Ti, Al and Hf on niobium silicides formation in the Nb-Si in situ composites have been investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The binary, ternary and multicomponent alloys have been fabricated by vacuum non-consumable arc melting method. The results show that Ti tends to stabilize Nb3Si phase, while Al promotes the direct formation of β-Nb5Si3 phase with a tetrahedral D8m structure. Exceptionally, it seems that Hf is beneficial to the formation of γ-Nb5Si3 phase with a hexangular D88 structure. 4SUPERPLASTICITY OF A SiC_w/2024 Al COMPOSITE MADE BY PRESSURE INFILTRATION显示文摘The superplastic characteristics of the β-SiC whisker reinforced 2024 aluminum com-posite, fabricated by pressure infiltration and hot-rolling after extrusion, were inves-tigated. The composite has a fine grain size of about 1μm, and exhibits a maximumtensile elongation of 370% in the initial strain rate of 3.3× 10-3 s-1 at 788K. The su-perplastic deformation mechanism of the composite is thought to be grain boundary(interface) sliding accommodated by grain boundary diffusion of aluminum atom andan appropriate amount of liquid phase.X. 5Micro-pleating in carbon-carbon composites under a cyclic load显示文摘The mechanical behavior of three-dimensional integral braided carbon-carbon composites (C/C) has been explored under unconventional fatigue loading, and a series of special experimental phenomena were observed. In this present paper, one of these phenomena, the micro silk-like pleating of the pyrocarbon matrix, is discussed. With thermodynamic analysis, it is shown that small areas of high-temperature contribute to the micro-pleating formation. 7PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES OF ETHYL-CYANOETHYL CELLULOSE/POLYACRYLIC ACID COMPOSITE FILMS WITH REFLECTION COLORS显示文摘Ethyl-cyanoethyl cellulose [(E-CE)C]/acrylic acid (AA) becomes a cholesteric liquid crystalline solution with vivid colors when the (E-CE)C concentration is 42 wt% ~52 wt%. (E-CE)C/polyacrylic acid (PAA) composites with cholesteric structure were prepared by polymerizing AA in (E-CE)C/AA liquid crystalline solutions. The layers of ordered polymer chains in the cholesteric phase were inclined during polymerization and the degree of the inclination depended on the polymerization temperature and the concentration of the solution before polymerization. The cholesteric structure in the composites could not be changed when temperature was lower than 100C. Cross-linking of the PAA in composites improved their water-resistance. The cholesteric order of the composites without cross-linking was destroyed when they where immersed in water. The color derived from the selective reflection of the cholesteric phase of the cross-linked composites turned from blue to red after the composites absorbed water. 9Interfacial phase competition induced Kondo-like effect inmanganite-insulator composites显示文摘A Kondo-like effect, namely, the upturn of resistivity at low temperatures, is observed in perovskitemanganite when nonmagnetic insulators are doped as secondary phase. In this paper, the low-temperature resistivity upturn effect has been argued to originate from interfacial magnetic phasereconstruction. Heisenberg spin lattices have been simulated using the Monte Carlo method to revealphase competition around secondary phase boundary, namely, manganite-insulator boundary thatbehaves with a weak antiferromagnetic tendency. 10Mixed mode properties of CNT reinforced composites using Arcan test rig显示文摘Composite materials reinforced with carbon nanotubes were mechanical tested using Arcan test rig under Mode-I, Mode-II and mixed mode loading conditions to obtain their fracture properties. The butterfly composite specimens were fabricated with 0.02, 0.05 and 0. I wt % CNTs. The polyester/CNT composite was fabricated using VRTM (Vacuum Resin Transfer Molding) where the CNTs were first functionalised to reach an optimum properties. Arcan test rig was designed and fabricated to work with the Shimadzu testing machine. The results show that the functionalised CNTs have improved the fracture behavior by acting as bridge between the cracked face. 11PARTICLES ANALYSIS OF Al_2O_3 PARTICLE REINFORCED ZL202 MATRIX COMPOSITES PREPARED BY IN-SITU REACTION显示文摘ZL202 matrix composite reinforced by Al2 Os particles was prepared by combining in-situ reaction and casting techniques. Particles' size in the composites was from 1 to 5microns in diameter. X-ray diffraction analysis verified that the reinforcing particleswere δ-Al2 O3 which belong to γ-Al2Oa series. The wetting angle between matrix andreinforcement was less than 90°. Energy spectrum analysis indicated that the reactionin bell cover pressing process took place not so completely as in flouring stir process.When the reaction was finished, the matrix was still ZL202 alloy in both processes.X.H. 12Experimental Study on the Energy Absorption Properties of MWK Reinforced Composites显示文摘The energy absorption properties of MWK fabric reinforced composite plates were studied. Low velocity and low energy impact experiments were carried out for MWK fabric reinforced Glassfibre/Epoxy composite plate, by setting up a drop weight impact test system. Using this system, the drop weight velocity during impacting was obtained and recorded by transducer and corresponding signal processing system. Based on the velocity record, the impact energy and dissipated impact energy (energy absorption) were obtained. 14HEAT-RESISTANT COMPOSITES CURED BY ELECTRON BEAM显示文摘Electron beam (EB) curing of composites has many advantages. Heat-resistant EB-curing composites could substitute polyimide composites used in aeronautical engines. In this paper, the effects of catalyst and dose on the cured resin were investigated. The heat-resistance of the resin cured by EB was evaluated by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA).
