1Challenge and Opportunity in Improving Fertilizer-nitrogen Use Efficiency of Irrigated Rice in China显示文摘Today, about 30% of world nitrogen (N) fertilizer is consumed by China. Rice crops in China consume about 37% of the total N fertilizer used for rice production in the world. Average rate of N application for rice production in China is high and fertilizer-N use efficiency is low compared with other major rice growing countries. Research progresses have been made internationally and domestically on the application method, fertilizer-N sources, computer-based decision support systems, and real-time N management in order to reduce N losses and increase fertilizer-N use efficiency. In addition to continuous increase in N rate and lack of adoption of new knowledge and technology in N management by farmers, we hypothesize that high indigenous soil N supply, adoption of hybrid and super rice cultivars, improper timing of N application, and practice of mid-season drainage could be the causes for the low fertilizer-N use efficiency in China. 2Research progress of the fractional Fourier transform in signal processing显示文摘The fractional Fourier transform is a generalization of the classical Fourier transform, which is introduced from the mathematic aspect by Namias at first and has many applications in optics quickly. Whereas its potential appears to have remained largely unknown to the signal processing community until 1990s. The fractional Fourier transform can be viewed as the chirp-basis expansion directly from its definition, but es-sentially it can be interpreted as a rotation in the time-frequency plane, i.e. the unified time-frequency transform. With the order from 0 increasing to 1, the fractional Fourier transform can show the characteristics of the signal changing from the time domain to the frequency domain. In this research paper, the fractional Fourier transform has been com-prehensively and systematically treated from the signal processing point of view. 4Detection and parameter estimation of multicomponent LFM signal based on the fractional Fourier transform显示文摘This paper presents a new method for the detection and parameter estimation of multicomponent LFM signals based on the fractional Fourier transform. For the optimization in the fractional Fourier domain, an algorithm based on Quasi-Newton method is proposed which consists of two steps of searching, leading to a reduction in computation without loss of accuracy. And for multicomponent signals, we further propose a signal separation technique in the fractional Fourier domain which can effectively suppress the interferences on the detection of the weak components brought by the stronger components. 5Attribute reduction theory and approach to concept lattice显示文摘The theory of the concept lattice is an efficient tool for knowledge representation and knowledge discovery, and is applied to many fields successfully. One focus of knowledge discovery is knowledge reduction. This paper proposes the theory of attribute reduction in the concept lattice, which extends the theory of the concept lattice. In this paper, the judgment theorems of consistent sets are examined, and the discernibility matrix of a formal context is introduced, by which we present an approach to attribute reduction in the concept lattice. 6Function S-rough sets and law identification显示文摘By introducing element equivalence class that proposes dynamic characteristic into Pawlak Z rough sets theory, the first author of this paper improved Pawlak Z rough sets and put forward S-rough sets (singular rough sets). S-rough sets are defined by element equivalence class that proposes dynamic characteristic. S-rough sets have dynamic characteristic. By introducing the function equivalence class (law equivalence class) that proposes dynamic characteristic into S-rough sets, the first author improved S-rough sets and put forward function S-rough sets (function singular rough sets). Function S-rough sets have dynamic characteristic and law characteristic, and a function is a law. By using function S-rough sets, this paper presents law identification, law identification theorem, and law identification criterion and applications. 9Evaluation of Chlorophyll Content and Fluorescence Parameters as Indicators of Drought Tolerance in Barley显示文摘Drought is a major abiotic stress that severely affects food production worldwide. Agronomic and physiological traits associated with drought tolerance are suitable indicators for selection of drought tolerance genotypes to reduce the impact of water deficit on crop yield in breeding program. The objective of this study was to identify indicators related to drought tolerance through analysis of photosynthetic traits in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). These traits included chlorophyll content, initial fluorescence (Fo), maximum primary yield of photochemistry of photosystem Ⅱ (Fv / Fo) and maximum quantum yield of photosystem II (Fv / Fm). Four genotypes (Tadmor, Arta, Morocco9-75 and WI2291) variable in drought tolerance were used to investigate the correlation between these traits and drought tolerance. The results reflected that all of these traits were affected negatively in the four genotypes at different levels of post-anthesis drought stress, but the decrease in drought tolerant genotypes was much less than that of drought sensitive genotypes. The results further revealed that the components of the photosynthetic apparatus could be damaged significantly in drought sensitive genotypes, while drought tolerant genotypes were relatively less affected. On the other hand, the values of chlorophyll content, Fo, Fv / Fo and Fv / Fm in drought tolerance genotypes were significantly higher than those in drought sensitive genotypes under drought stress. 10Mathematic principles of interrupted-sampling repeater jamming (ISRJ)显示文摘Coherent jamming is one of the important trends in modern radar electronic war- fare. High-speed sampling of wideband radio frequency (RF) signals and high iso- lation of two receive-transmit antennas are key technologies for the realization of coherent jamming. However, these technologies present significant challenges to engineering application. In this paper, a novel repeater jamming based on inter- rupted sampling technique is presented. For a jammer with a receive-transmit time-sharing antenna, a radar signal is sampled with a low rate by the jammer. Then, a train of false targets will be achieved after the jamming signal feed the matched filter of a pulse compression radar. 11The Assessment and Utilization of Straw Resources in China显示文摘The study was undertaken to evaluate the collectable and usable volume of existing straw resources, its suitability for different ways of utilization and fully reorganization of its development potential in China. Based on the results on the stubble heights of major crops in the Huang-Huai-Hai area (the area along the Yellow River, Huai River, and Hai River), the evaluation of the collectable and usable coefficients, and the collectable and usable volumes of various straw resources in China were worked out during 2005. The respective collectable and usable volumes of straw resources were worked out on the basis of suitability as fuel, feed, fertilizer, and base material for edible mushrooms. The total collectable and utilizable quantity of straw in China was 685 950 000 t, and the mean collection coefficient was 0.81 during 2005. The quantity of straw residue and wasted straw accounted for 19%. The collectable and utilizable quantities of grain, cash crop, and other crop straw were 492 310 000, 162 610 000, and 31 030 000 t which accounted for 71.77, 23.71, and 4.52%, respectively of the total collectable and utilizable quantity of straw. The quantity of straw which could be used as fuel was 635 000 000 t, which accounted for 92.63% of total quantity of the straw in the country during 2005. Among the total quantity of collectable and utilizable straw in China during 2005, the quantities of straw suitable and unsuitable for being processed as feedstuff were 587 640 000 and 98 310 000 t, which accounted for 85.67 and 14.33%, respectively. The quantity of straw residue returned to the field and collectable and utilizable straw for direct field restoration was 616 000 000 t, which accounted for about three-fourths of the total straw yield, while the quantity of straw for cultivation of edible mushrooms and industrial processing was about 587 000 000 t, which accounted for more than 85% of the total collectable and utilizable straw. 12Semi-tensor product of matrices and its application to Morgen's problem显示文摘This paper proposes a new matrix product, namely, semi-tensor product. It is a generalization of the conventional matrix product. Meanwhile, it is also closely related to Kronecker (tensor) product of matrices. The purpose of introducing this product is twofold: (i) treat multi-dimensional data; (ii) treat nonlinear problems in a linear way. Then the computer and numerical methods can be easily used for solving nonlinear problems. Properties and formulas are deduced. 14Heavy Metal Content in Chinese Vegetable Plantation Land Soils and Related Source Analysis显示文摘According to the previous literature published since 1989,statistical analysis for reported data on the heavy metals in Chinese vegetable plantation soils was carried out systematically in this article. The purpose of this investigation was to study the status of heavy metal content in vegetable land soils systematically through objective assessment to promote the development of vegetable production with high quality and efficiency. It is concluded that Zn,Cr,Cu had relatively high concentrations while the mean concentrations of toxic metals,As,Hg,Cd were 8.03,0.12,0.28 mg kg-1,respectively with comparatively low concentrations in Chinese vegetable land. Comparing to Chinese Soil Quality Criterion GB 15618-1995 (6.5 < pH < 7.5),about 24.1,10.3,and 9.2% of the total samples was contaminated by Cd,Hg,and As,respectively,and the descending order of heavy metals was Cd > Hg > As > Zn > Cu > Cr > Pb. When compared among different regions,the more serious heavy metal contamination was found in the vegetable land of eastern China and the main contamination elements were Cd,Hg,and Zn. In the mid region,vegetable plantation land soil was mainly polluted by As and Cd,as well as by Hg,Zn,and Cu,to some extent. In the west region of China,Cd and As contamination was also observed to some degree,along with few soil samples exceeding the grade II level of GB 15618-1995 (6.5 < pH < 7.5) for Cu,Cr,and Hg content. Compared to the five vegetable plantation land patterns,the highest concentration of As,Cd,Hg,and Zn occurred in the industrial/sewage irrigation vegetable land,especially for Hg with 2.36 mg kg-1 content averagely,which is 10.5-21.1 times higher than the other four types of vegetable lands. The highest concentration of Cu and Cr occurred in the greenhouse vegetable land soils,and urban vegetable land soil had the highest Pb content in comparison with the other types of vegetable plantation land patterns. By analyzing heavy metal content under different vegetable land patterns,it was found that soil in vegetable production base had relatively low heavy metal concentrations except for Pb with a slightly higher amount in the suburb area. The soil quality of common vegetable land was good with the lowest concentrations for most heavy metals. Under present utilization patterns of vegetable land,the soil quality in Chinese vegetable base land was good with comparatively low concentrations of heavy metals and mostly not exceeding the grade II level of Chinese Soil Quality Criterion GB 15618-1995 (6.5 < pH < 7.5). 15Fractional differential approach to detecting textural features of digital image and its fractional differential filter implementation显示文摘This paper mainly discusses fractional differential approach to detecting textural features of digital image and its fractional differential filter. Firstly,both the geometric meaning and the kinetic physical meaning of fractional differential are clearly explained in view of information theory and kinetics,respectively. Secondly,it puts forward and discusses the definitions and theories of fractional stationary point,fractional equilibrium coefficient,fractional stable coefficient,and fractional grayscale co-occurrence matrix. At the same time,it particularly discusses fractional grayscale co-occurrence matrix approach to detecting textural features of digital image. Thirdly,it discusses in detail the structures and parameters of n×n any order fractional differential mask on negative x-coordinate,positive x-coordinate,negative y-coordinate,positive y-coordinate,left downward diagonal,left upward diagonal,right downward diagonal,and right upward diagonal,respectively. Furthermore,it discusses the numerical implementation algorithms of fractional differential mask for digital image. Lastly,based on the above-mentioned discussion,it puts forward and discusses the theory and implementation of fractional differential filter for digital image. 16Decrease-radix design principle for carrying/borrowing free multi-valued and application in ternary optical computer显示文摘In this paper a new theory referred to as the decrease-radix design (DRD) is pro-posed,which is found in the research of logic units of ternary (tri-valued) optical computer. Based on the theory proposed,the principles and the regulations of the DRD for making operation units of multi-valued operation with carrying/borrowing free are also presented. The research work has come to the following important conclusion: let D be a special state contained in n physical informative states,then one may figure out any multi-valued processors within n(n×n) carrying/borrowing free n-valued units by the composition some of n×n×(n-1) simplest basic operating units according to the regulations of DRD proposed in this paper. The detailed systematic way of our design regulations is highlighted step by step in the paper with an example of design of a tri-valued logic optical operating unit. The real ar-chitecture,the procedure,and the experimental results of our sample in tri-valued logic operating unit are given. Finally,a re-constructible model of ternary logical optical processor is introduced. In this paper,the characterizations and representations of infor-mation granules under various binary relations are investigated in information systems,an axiom definition of information granulation is presented,and some existing definitions of information granulation become its special forms. Entropy theory in information systems is further developed and the granulation monoton-icity of each of them is proved. 18Analysis of Heavy Metal Sources for Vegetable Soils from Shandong Province, China显示文摘Heavy metal pollution in agricultural soils has serious negative influence on human health. Concentrations of Cd, Hg, As, Pb, Cr, Cu, Zn, and Ni in top soils (0-20 cm) of greenhouses and farmlands from four main vegetable production areas Shouguang, Laiyang, Jinxiang, and Zhangqiu in Shandong Province, one of the most rapidly developing regions in China, were measured in this study. Shouguang is mainly occupied by greenhouse vegetables and the other three areas are mainly open field culture. Total of 149 soil samples were collected. The average concentrations of the eight heavy metals of the tested 149 soil samples were all below the threshold values according to 'Farmland environmental quality evaluation standards for edible agricultural products (HJ332-2006)'of China. However, most of the studied heavy metals were present at higher concentrations than those of the natural background levels in local agricultural soils. Among the total 149 soil samples, 22 samples were contaminated by Cd, Ni, Cu, or Hg. Comparisons showed that the main pollution element in greenhouse vegetable soils was Cd, while that of open field vegetable soils was Cu. The results of principal components analysis (PCA) suggested that concentrations of Cr, As, and Ni were mainly controlled by parent rocks; Hg and Pb were affected by anthropogenic activities such as vehicle and industrial fumes and waste water irrigation. Meanwhile, concentrations of Cd, Cu, and Zn were affected mainly by the use of agrochemicals. Most of the heavy metals were positively correlated with each other in concentration. 19Utilization of Chinese Herbal Feed Additives in Animal Production显示文摘The experimental knowledge on efficacy,possible modes of action and aspects of application of Chinese herbs as feed additives for animal production are reviewed in this article.Chinese herbs commonly contain protein,carbohydrate,fat,vitamins,andmineral which are necessary nutrients to the growth of animal.Polysaccharide,organic acid,alkaloids,and essential oils involved in Chinese herbs can improve the immune function of livestock.Currently,numerous studies have demonstrated anti-oxidative and anti-microbial efficacy and the assumption that Chinese herbs may improve the flavor of meat,which has been confirmed by some observations,but the mode of this action is still unclear.Moreover,several observations support the hypothesis that herbal feed additives may favorably affect gut functions (e.g.,enzyme activity,microbial eubiosis) in vitro.Such effects may explain a considerable number of practical studies with livestock reporting improved production performance after providing herbal feed additives.In summary,available evidence indicates that herbal feed additives may have the potential to add to the set of non-antibiotic growth promoters for use in livestock,such as organic acids and probiotics.However,a systematic approach toward the efficacy,mode of action and safety of herbal compounds used as feed additives for animal production seems to be required in the future.LIU Hua-wei TONG Jian-ming ZHOU Dao-wei 2011Agricultural Sciences in China2011,10,8:41
20Relationship Between Grain Yield and Yield Components in Super Hybrid Rice显示文摘Chinese super hybrid rice breeding project has developed many new varieties with great yield potential. It is controversial which yield component should be emphasized in super hybrid rice production. The present study was conducted to compare super hybrid rice with common hybrid and super inbred rice and analyze contributions of yield components to grain yield of super hybrid rice under experimental conditions, and evaluate relationships between grain yield and yield components of super hybrid rice in farmer’s paddy fields. Field experiments were done in Changsha, Guidong, and Nanxian, Hunan Province, China, from 2007 to 2009. Eight super hybrid varieties, one common hybrid variety, and one super inbred variety were grown in each location and year. Rice production investigation was undertaken in high-yielding (Guidong), moderate-yielding (Nanxian), and low-yielding (Ningxiang) regions of Hunan Province, China, in 2009. Grain yield and yield components were measured in both the field experiments and rice production investigation. Super hybrid rice varieties outyielded common hybrid and super inbred varieties across three locations and years. Yield potential has been increased by 11.4% in super hybrid rice varieties compared with common and super inbred varieties. The higher yield of super hybrid varieties was attributed to improvement in panicle size. Panicles per m2 had the highest positive contribution to grain yield with the exception under yield level of 10.0 to 12.0 t ha-1, and was positively related to grain yield in farmer’s field at all of the high-, moderate-, and low-yielding regions.
