| 3 | Changes in plant biomass and species composition of alpine Kobresia meadows along altitudinal gradient on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Alpine Kobresia meadows are major vegetation types on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. There is growing concern over their relationships among biodiversity, productivity and environments. Despite the im-portance of species composition, species richness, the type of different growth forms, and plant bio-mass structure for Kobresia meadow ecosystems, few studies have been focused on the relationship between biomass and environmental gradient in the Kobresia meadow plant communities, particularly in relation to soil moisture and edaphic gradients. We measured the plant species composition, her-baceous litter, aboveground and belowground biomass in three Kobresia meadow plant communities in Haibei Alpine Meadow Ecosystem Research Station from 2001 to 2004. Community differences in plant species composition were reflected in biomass distribution. The total biomass showed a de-crease from 13196.96±719.69 g/m2 in the sedge-dominated K. tibetica swamp to 2869.58±147.52 g/m2 in the forb and sedge dominated K. pygmaea meadow, and to 2153.08±141.95 g/m2 in the forbs and grasses dominated K. humilis along with the increase of altitude. The vertical distribution of below-ground biomass is distinct in the three meadow communities, and the belowground biomass at the depth of 0-10 cm in K. tibetica swamp meadow was significantly higher than that in K. humilis and K. pygmaea meadows (P<0.01). The herbaceous litter in K. tibetica swamp was significantly higher than those in K. pygnaeca and K. humilis meadows. The effects of plant litter are enhanced when ground water and soil moisture levels are raised. The relative importance of litter and vegetation may vary with soil water availability. In the K. tibetica swamp, total biomass was negatively correlated to species richness (P<0.05); aboveground biomass was positively correlated to soil organic matter, soil moisture, and plant cover (P<0.05); belowground biomass was positively correlated with soil moisture (P<0.05). However, in the K. pygnaeca and K. humilis meadow communities, aboveground biomass was posi-tively correlated to soil organic matter and soil total nitrogen (P<0.05). | 4 | Genetic diversity in Chinese modern wheat varieties revealed by microsatellite markers显示文摘Genetic diversity of 1680 modern varieties in Chinese candidate core collections was analyzed at 78 SSR loci by fluorescence detection system. A total of 1336 alleles were detected, of which 1253 alleles could be annotated into 71 loci. For these 71 loci, the alleles ranged from 4 to 44 with an average of 17.6, and the PIC values changed from 0.19 to 0.89 with an average of 0.69. (1) In the three genomes of wheat, the average genetic richness was B>A>D, and the genetic diversity indexes were B>D>A. (2) Among the seven homoeologous groups, the average genetic richness was 2=7>3>4>6>5>1, and the genetic diversity indexes were 7>3>2>4>6>5>1. As a whole, group 7 possessed the highest genetic diversity, while groups 1 and 5 were the lowest. (3) In the 21 wheat chromosomes, 7A, 3B and 2D possessed much higher genetic diversity, while 2A, 1B, 4D, 5D and 1D were the lowest. (4) The highest average genetic diversity index existed in varieties bred in the 1950s, and then it declined continually. However, the change tendency of genetic diversity among decades was not greatly sharp. This was further illustrated by changes of the average genetic distance between varieties. In the 1950s it was the largest (0.731). Since the 1960s, it has decreased gradually (0.711, 0.706, 0.696, 0.695). The genetic base of modern varieties is becoming narrower and narrower. Themean contractile amplitude (A), the resting tension (T),and the contractile frequency (F) were simultaneouslyrecorded on recorders.RESULTS: Arsca dose dependently increased the meancontractile amplitude, the resting tension of proximal anddistal colonic smooth muscle strips in rats ( P < 0.05). Italso partly increased the contractile frequency of colonicsmooth muscle strips in rats ( P < 0.05). The effects werepartly inhibited by atropine (the resting tension of LMPCdecreased from 0. 44 ± 0. 12 to 0. 17 ± 0.03; the restingtension of LMDC decreased from 0.71 ± 0.14 to 0.03 ± 0.01;the mean contractile amplitude of LMPC increased from -45.8 ± 7.2 to -30.5 ± 2.9; the motility index of CMDC decreasedfrom 86.6± 17.3 to 32.8 ± 9.3; P< 0.05 vs areca), but theeffects were not inhibited by hexamethonium (P> 0.05).CONCLUSION: Areca stimulated the motility of isolatedcolonic smooth muscle strips in rats. | 6 | Sol-gel preparation and characterization of Co_3O_4 nanocrystals显示文摘A new citrate acid-hydrazine sol-gel route for preparation of Co3O4 nanoparticles has been developed. Co3O4 nanoparticles with different particle-sizes and morphology were prepared at different heat-treatment temperatures and the pure cubic nanocrystals of Co3O4 were obtained at 600℃. The synthesis process was monitored by infrared spectroscopy (IR), thermal gravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA). The structure and morphology of Co3O4 nanocrystals were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray-photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The infrared absorption bands blueshifted with particle size decreasing, which could be attributed to increasing surface effect. | 7 | The environmental signal of an early Holocene pollen record from the Shiyang River basin lake sediments, NW China显示文摘Pollen analyses of 85 samples from the San-jiaocheng section well along the margin of a palaeolake at the end of the Shiyang River, NW China, show that Picea and Sabina dominate the pollen assemblage. Together they reach as high as 40%-60%, with the percentage of Picea varying inversely with that of Sabina. Similar results were obtained from another section in the Shiyang River drainage. Using modern ecological habitat relationship analogues, pol-len transport characteristics, and the overall pollen assem-blage, we propose that both Picea and Sabina pollen were transported by the river from the mountains at the upper reaches of the Shiyang River, and that the assemblage is more indicative of changes in upland vegetation than of local conditions near the section. This interpretation is supported by pollen data derived from surface samples, water samples, and riverbed samples. | 8 | Spectrofluorimetric determination of terbium(Ⅲ) by fluorescence enhancement system of Tb-TPA-Triton X-100 by La^(3+)显示文摘The phenomenon of fluorescence enhancement for the system of terbium(Ⅲ) with terephthalic acid (benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid (TPA)) in the presence of an excess of La^3+ in Triton X-100 aqueous solution has been studied. The fluorescence intensity of Tb^Ⅲ-TPA system can be greatly increased by La^3+. The intermolecular transfer of energy was responsible for the mechanism of the fluorescence enhancement. Triton X-100 plays an imporlant role for the stabilization of the system. The system, having the maximum excitation and emission wavelengths at 256nm and 546nm, respectively,shows a constant fluorescence intensity over the pH range between 4-6. | 14 | Guided wave propagation in multilayered piezoelectric structures显示文摘A general formulation of the method of the reverberation-ray matrix (MRRM) based on the state space formalism and plane wave expansion technique is presented for the analysis of guided waves in multilayered piezoelectric structures. Each layer of the structure is made of an arbitrarily anisotropic piezoelectric material. Since the state equation of each layer is derived from the three-dimensional theory of linear piezoelectricity, all wave modes are included in the formulation. Within the framework of the MRRM, the phase relation is properly established by excluding exponentially growing functions, while the scattering relation is also appropriately set up by avoiding matrix inversion operation. Consequently, the present MRRM is unconditionally numerically stable and free from computational limitations to the total number of layers, the thickness of individual layers, and the frequency range. | 17 | A study of magnetostriction, spin reorientation, and Mssbauer spectra of Tb_(0.3)Dy_(0.6)Pr_(0.1)(Fe_(1-x)Al_x)1.95 alloys with substitution of Fe by Al显示文摘The effects of Al substitution for Fe on the structure, magnetics, magnetostriction, anisotropy and spin reorientation of a series of Tb0.3Dy0.6Pr0.1(Fe1-xAlx)1.95 alloys (x=0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25, 0.3) at room temperature have been investigated. The alloys of Tb0.3Dy0.6Pr0.1(Fe1-xAlx)1.95 substantially retain MgCu2-type C-15 cubic Laves phase structure when x<0.2. The mixed phases appear with x = 0.2, and cubic Laves phase decreases with increasing x. The magnetostriction of the Tb0.3Dy0.6Pr0.1(Fe1-xAlx)1.95 alloys decreases drastically with increasing x and the giant magnetostrictive effect disappears for x > 0.15. Fortunately, a small amount of Al substitution is beneficial to a decrease in the magnetocrystalline anisotropy. The spin reorientation temperature decreases with increasing x. The analysis of the Mssbauer spectra indicates that the easy magnetization direction in the {110} plane deviates slightly from the main axis of symmetry with the increase of Al concentration x, namely, spin reorientation, resulting in the change of macroscopical magnetic properties and magnetostriction. | 18 | Short cycle structures for graphs on surfaces and an open problem of Mohar and Thomassen显示文摘In this paper we investigate cycle base structures of a (weighted) graph and show that much information of short cycles is contained in an MCB (i.e., minimum cycle base). After setting up a Hall type theorem for base-transformation, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for a cycle base to be an MCB. Furthermore, we show that the structure of MCB in a (weighted)graph is unique. The property is also true for those having a longest length (although much work has been down in evaluating MCB, little is known for those having a longest length). We use those methods to find out some unknown properties for short cycles sharing particular properties in (unweighted) graphs. As applications, we determine the structures of short cycles in an embedded graph and show that there exist polynomially bounded algorithms in finding a shortest contractible cycle and a shortest two-sided cycle provided such cycles exist. | 19 | The causes and processes responsible for rocky desertification in karst areas of southern China显示文摘The karst region of southern China is a fragile ecological zone with widespread rocky desertification. This paper describes the rocky desertification occurring in this region in terms of both natural and anthropogenic factors. During geological time periods, the region's changing environment governed the natural rocky desertification processes, whereas during historical and modern times, anthropogenic processes have been superimposed on these natural processes. Human activities have accelerated and exacerbated rocky desertification. The period from the beginning to the middle of the Qing dynasty was an important transitional period in which human activities began to exert a particularly strong influence on rocky desertification. Since then, the effect of anthropogenic factors has increasingly exceeded the effect of natural factors. The rocky desertification process in southern China's karst region combines surface ecological processes (including vegetation degradation and loss, soil erosion, surface water loss, and bedrock solution) with a reduction of the land's biological productivity, leading to degradation that produces rocky desert. | 20 | IGF-Ⅱ and IGFBP-1 reversely regulate blastocyst implantation in mouse显示文摘Insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-Ⅱ and IGF binding protein (IGFBP)-1, members of IGF family, are important in the cyclic development of endometrium and the blastocyst implantation. In the present study, the indirect immunofluorescence showed that IGF- Ⅱ and IGFBP-1 were specifically expressed at the maternal-fetal interface. In a co-culture system, IGF-Ⅱ significantly enhanced the attachment and outgrowth of the blastocyst on monolayer of uterine epithelial cells, while IGFBP-1 did not affect the blastocyst attachment, but markedly inhibited the blastocyst outgrowth. The results of zymography showed that IGF- Ⅱ enhanced the activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9, while IGFBP-1 did not affect the activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9.
