| 3 | Phase Transitions and Anion Exchange in All-Inorganic Halide Perovskites显示文摘CONSPECTUS:A new generation of semiconducting materials based on metal halide perovskites has recently been launched into the scientific spotlight,exhibiting outstanding optoelectronic properties and providing promise for the development of efficient optical devices.As a vivid example,solar cells made from these materials have quickly reached conversion efficiencies exceeding 25%,now on par with well-established technologies,like silicon.Their widespread success is due,in part,to a unique ability to retain high-quality optoelectronic performance while being easily solutionprocessed into thin films.This feature is what defines them as a brand-new class of optoelectronic materials,with the ability to compete with traditional semiconductors requiring higher processing costs,like the III−Vs or II−IVs.However,the interesting photophysics of metal halide perovskites come with a catch;their soft ionic lattice promotes complex thermal-induced phase transitions and a high capacity for postsynthetic compositional changes,e.g.,halide anion exchange.Such dynamic behavior has ultimately made understanding several important structure−property relationships ambiguous and obstructed a clear path toward commercialization due to inherent phase instability.Our aim in this Account is to highlight the fundamental aspects of metal halide perovskites that dictate a stable crystal structure and enable efficient anion exchange,through the lens of thermodynamic preference and phase formation energies.Taking the allinorganic CsPbI3‑xBrx system as a suitable case study,we focus on several ways in which its thermodynamically unstable perovskite structure can be maintained at room temperature and elucidate the restructuring pathways taken during destabilization.In addition,we will discuss the origin and mechanisms of postsynthetic anion exchange in CsPbX3(X=I,Br,Cl)perovskites,with emphasis made toward direct visualization using in situ optical microspectroscopy and arriving at quantitative results.For several notable features of halide perovskites dealt with in this Account,e.g.,strain stabilization,nonperovskite phase restructuring pathway,and lattice anion diffusion,we attempt to rationalize them using state-of-the-art materials modeling techniques.It is within this spirit that we not only modify a broad range of properties existing within metal halide perovskites but also regulate them for enhanced material functionality.For example,controlling partial phase changes and local replacement of halide composition in CsBX3(B=Pb,Sn and X=I,Br,Cl)nanowires can facilitate the formation of optoelectronic heterojunctions,due to the abrupt change in local crystal structure and the correlated transition in optoelectronic properties.From this combined perspective,metal halide perovskites appear as highly dynamic systems,whereby structural and compositional modifications have a large impact on the underlying phase stability and optoelectronic properties.Thus,we highlight several scientific aspects important to the fundamental understanding of metal halide perovskites,ranging from the underlying mechanism and kinetics through which phase destabilization and anion exchange take place,to tuning the thermodynamic energy landscape using external stimuli.We anticipate that providing a clear perspective for these topics will help deepen our knowledge of the nature of ionic semiconductors and provide the stimulus required to build new research directions toward utilizing halide perovskites within versatile optoelectronic devices. | Julian A.Steele Minliang Lai Ye Zhang Zhenni Lin Johan Hofkens Maarten B.J.Roeffaers Peidong Yang | 2020 | Accounts of Materials Research2020,1,1: | 2 |
| 4 | Thinking beyond Opisthorchis viverrini for risk of cholangiocarcinoma in the lower Mekong region:a systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Background:Cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)is a fatal bile duct cancer associated with infection by the liver fluke,Opisthorchis viverrini,in the lower Mekong region.Numerous public health interventions have focused on reducing exposure to O.viverrini,but incidence of CCA in the region remains high.While this may indicate the inefficacy of public health interventions due to complex social and cultural factors,it may further indicate other risk factors or interactions with the parasite are important in pathogenesis of CCA.This systematic review aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of described risk factors for CCA in addition to O.viverrini to guide future integrative interventions.Main body:We searched five international and seven Thai research databases to identify studies relevant to risk factors for CCA in the lower Mekong region.Selected studies were assessed for risk of bias and quality in terms of study design,population,CCA diagnostic methods,and statistical methods.The final 18 included studies reported numerous risk factors which were grouped into behaviors,socioeconomics,diet,genetics,gender,immune response,other infections,and treatment for O.viverrini.Seventeen risk factors were reported by two or more studies and were assessed with random effects models during meta-analysis.This meta-analysis indicates that the combination of alcohol and smoking(OR=11.1,95%CI:5.63-21.92,P<0.0001)is most significantly associated with increased risk for CCA and is an even greater risk factor than O.viverrini exposure.This analysis also suggests that family history of cancer,consumption of raw cyprinoid fish,consumption of high nitrate foods,and praziquantel treatment are associated with significantly increased risk.These risk factors may have complex relationships with the host,parasite,or pathogenesis of CCA,and many of these risk factors were found to interact with each other in one or more studies.Conclusions:Our findings suggest that a complex variety of risk factors in addition to O.viverrini infection should be addressed in future public health interventions to reduce CCA in affected regions.In particular,smoking and alcohol use,dietary patterns,and socioeconomic factors should be considered when developing intervention programs to reduce CCA. | Jennifer A.Steele Carsten H.Richter Pierre Echaubard Parichat Saenna Virginia Stout Paiboon Sithithaworn Bruce A.Wilcox | 2018 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2018,7,1: | 2 |

| 7 | Shifts in the Holstein dairy cow milk fat globule membrane proteome that occur during the first week of lactation are affected by parity显示文摘Background:The milk fat globule membrane(MFGM)proteomes of colostrum and transition milk are rich sources of proteins that are likely important for neonatal calf health.In addition,characterization of these proteomes could also yield valuable information regarding mammary gland physiology of the early postpartum lactating cow.The objectives of this research were to characterize the MFGM proteomes of colostrum and transition milk through sample collections at four timepoints postpartum,including the first milking(M1,colostrum),second milking(M2,transition milk),fourth milking(M4,transition milk),and fourteenth milking(M14,mature milk),and compare these proteomes between multiparous(MP;n=10)and primiparous(PP;n=10)Holstein dairy cows.Isolated MFGM proteins were labeled using Tandem Mass tagging and analyzed using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS).Protein identification was completed using MASCOT and Sequest in Proteome Discoverer 2.2.The scaled abundance values were analyzed using PROC MIXED in SAS to determine the effects of milking(MIL),parity(PAR),and MIL×PAR.The adaptive false-discovery rate(FDR)-adjusted P values were determined using PROC MULTTEST.Protein characterization and bioinformatic analysis were completed using a combination of PANTHER,Blast,and Uniprot.Results:A total of 104 common proteins were identified in each of the MFGM samples.Statistical analysis revealed that 70.2%of identified proteins were affected by MIL.Of these,78.1%were lower in M14 compared with M1,including immune-related proteins lactotransferrin,lactadherin and hemopexin.Parity affected 44.2%of proteins.Of the proteins affected by PAR,84.8%were higher in MP cows compared with PP cows,including apolipoprotein E and histones 2A,2B,3,and 4 b.Butyrophilin subfamily 1 member 1A and annexin 5 were higher in samples from PP cows.Milking×parity affected 32.7%of identified proteins,including lactotransferrin,gelsolin,vitamin D binding protein,and S100 proteins.Conclusions:This research supports previous findings that the Holstein MFGM proteome changes rapidly during the first week of lactation.In addition,this research identifies the impact of parity on the colostrum and transition milk MFGM proteomes,which may be important for milk-fed calf health or for the identification of protein biomarkers for mammary functionality. | Mallory C.Honan Megan J.Fahey Amanda J.Fischer-Tlustos Michael A.Steele Sabrina L.Greenwood | 2021 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,2: | 1 |
