4Advancing male age differentially alters levels and localization patterns of PLCzeta in sperm and testes from different mouse strains显示文摘Sperm-specific phospholipase C zeta(PLCζ)initiates intracellular calcium(Ca2+)transients which drive a series of concurrent events collectively termed oocyte activation.Numerous investigations have linked abrogation and absence/reduction of PLCζwith forms of male infertility in humans where oocyte activation fails.However,very few studies have examined potential relationships between PLCζand advancing male age,both of which are increasingly considered to be major effectors of male fertility.Initial efforts in humans may be hindered by inherent PLCζvariability within the human population,alongside a lack of sufficient controllable repeats.Herein,utilizing immunoblotting,immunofluorescence,and quantitative reverse transcription PCR(qRT-PCR)we examined for the first time PLCζprotein levels and localization patterns in sperm,and PLCζmRNA levels within testes,from mice at 8 weeks,12 weeks,24 weeks,and 36 weeks of age,from two separate strains of mice,C57BL/6(B6;inbred)and CD1(outbred).Collectively,advancing male age generally diminished levels and variability of PLCζprotein and mRNA in sperm and testes,respectively,when both strains were examined.Furthermore,advancing male age altered the predominant pattern of PLCζlocalization in mouse sperm,with younger mice exhibiting predominantly post-acrosomal,and older mice exhibiting both post-acrosomal and acrosomal populations of PLCζ.However,the specific pattern of such decline in levels of protein and mRNA was strain-specific.Collectively,our results demonstrate a negative relationship between advancing male age and PLCζlevels and localization patterns,indicating that aging male mice from different strains may serve as useful models to investigate PLCζin cases of male infertility and subfertility in humans.Junaid Kashir Bhavesh V Mistry Maha Adel Gumssani Muhammad Rajab Reema Abu-Dawas Falah AlMohanna Michail Nomikos Celine Jones Raed Abu-Dawud Nadya Al-Yacoub Kevin Coward F Anthony Lai Abdullah M Assiri 2021Asian Journal of Andrology2021,23,2:0
5Performance Comparison of Deep and Machine Learning Approaches Toward COVID-19 Detection显示文摘The coronavirus(COVID-19)is a disease declared a global pan-demic that threatens the whole world.Since then,research has accelerated and varied to find practical solutions for the early detection and correct identification of this disease.Several researchers have focused on using the potential of Artificial Intelligence(AI)techniques in disease diagnosis to diagnose and detect the coronavirus.This paper developed deep learning(DL)and machine learning(ML)-based models using laboratory findings to diagnose COVID-19.Six different methods are used in this study:K-nearest neighbor(KNN),Decision Tree(DT)and Naive Bayes(NB)as a machine learning method,and Deep Neural Network(DNN),Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),and Long-term memory(LSTM)as DL methods.These approaches are evaluated using a dataset obtained from the Israelita Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo,Brazil.This data consists of 5644 laboratory results from different patients,with 10%being Covid-19 positive cases.The dataset includes 18 attributes that characterize COVID-19.We used accuracy,f1-score,recall and precision to evaluate the different developed systems.The obtained results confirmed these approaches’effectiveness in identifying COVID-19,However,ML-based classifiers couldn’t perform up to the standards achieved by DL-based models.Among all,NB performed worst by hardly achieving accuracy above 76%,Whereas KNN and DT compete by securing 84.56%and 85%accuracies,respectively.Besides these,DL models attained better performance as CNN,DNN and LSTM secured more than 90%accuracies.The LTSM outperformed all by achieving an accuracy of 96.78%and an F1-score of 96.58%.Amani Yahyaoui Jawad Rasheed Shtwai Alsubai Raed M.Shubair Abdullah Alqahtani Buket Isler Rana Zeeshan Haider 2023Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,37,8:0
6Characterization of genomic,physiological,and probiotic features Lactiplantibacillus plantarum DY46 strain isolated from traditional lactic acid fermented shalgam beverage显示文摘Lactiplantibacillus plantarum is a significant probiotic where it could be found in ubiquitous niches.In this study,a new Lb.plantarum strain DY46 was isolated from a traditional lactic-acid-fermented beverage called shalgam.The whole genome of the DY46 was sequenced and obtained sequences were assembled into a 3.32 Mb draft genome using PATRIC(3.6.8.).The DY46 genome consists of a single circular chromosome of 3,332,827 bp that is predicted to carry 3219 genes,including 61 tRNA genes,2 rRNA operons.The genome has a GC content of 44.3%includes 98 predicted pseudogenes,25 complete or partial transposases and 3 intact prophages.The genes encoding enzymes related in the intact EMP(Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas)and PK(phosphoketolase)pathways were predicted using BlastKOALA which is an indicator of having facultative heterofermentative pathways.DY46 genome also predicted to carry genes of Pln E,Pln F and Pln K showing the antimicrobial potential of this bacterium which can be linked to in vitro antagonism tests that DY46 can inhibit S.enterica sv.Typhimurium ATCC14028,K.pneumonie ATCC13883,and P.vulgaris ATCC8427.Moreover,it is determined that all resistome found in its genome were intrinsically originated and the strain was found to be tolerant to acid and bile concentrations by mimicking human gastrointestinal conditions.In conclusion,L.plantarum DY46 is a promising bacterium that appears to have certain probiotic properties,confirmed by“in vitro”and“in silico”analyses,and is a potential dietary supplement candidate that may provide functional benefits to the host.Ahmet E.Yetiman Abdullah Keskin Büs¸ra Nur Darendeli Seyfullah Enes Kotil Fatih Ortakci Mahmut Dogan 2022Food Bioscience2022,46,2:0
7Chaotic Flower Pollination with Deep Learning Based COVID-19 Classification Model显示文摘The Coronavirus Disease(COVID-19)pandemic has exposed the vulnerabilities of medical services across the globe,especially in underdeveloped nations.In the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak,a strong demand exists for developing novel computer-assisted diagnostic tools to execute rapid and cost-effective screenings in locations where many screenings cannot be executed using conventional methods.Medical imaging has become a crucial component in the disease diagnosis process,whereas X-rays and Computed Tomography(CT)scan imaging are employed in a deep network to diagnose the diseases.In general,four steps are followed in image-based diagnostics and disease classification processes by making use of the neural networks,such as network training,feature extraction,model performance testing and optimal feature selection.The current research article devises a Chaotic Flower Pollination Algorithm with a Deep Learning-Driven Fusion(CFPADLDF)approach for detecting and classifying COVID-19.The presented CFPA-DLDF model is developed by integrating two DL models to recognize COVID-19 in medical images.Initially,the proposed CFPA-DLDF technique employs the Gabor Filtering(GF)approach to pre-process the input images.In addition,a weighted voting-based ensemble model is employed for feature extraction,in which both VGG-19 and the MixNet models are included.Finally,the CFPA with Recurrent Neural Network(RNN)model is utilized for classification,showing the work’s novelty.A comparative analysis was conducted to demonstrate the enhanced performance of the proposed CFPADLDF model,and the results established the supremacy of the proposed CFPA-DLDF model over recent approaches.T.Gopalakrishnan Mohamed Yacin Sikkandar Raed Abdullah Alharbi P.Selvaraj Zahraa H.Kareem Ahmed Alkhayyat Ali Hashim Abbas 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,3:0
