| 2 | Multipoint observations of Pi2 pulsations and correlation with dynamic processes in the near-Earth magnetotail on March 18,2009显示文摘Simultaneous measurements from THEMIS spacecraft,GOES-11 and ground stations(Canadian Array for Realtime Investigations of Magnetic Activity or CARISMA,and 210°magnetic meridian or MM)on March 18,2009 allow the study of dynamic processes in the near-Earth magnetotail and corresponding Pi2 pulsations on the ground in great detail.Fast earthward flows along with traveling Alfvén waves and fast mode waves in the Pi2 band were observed by three Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms(THEMIS)probes(P3,P4 and P5)in the near-Earth plasmasheet.At the mid-to high-latitude nightside,the CARISMA stations located near the foot points of the three probes recorded Pi2s with two periods,about 80 s after the earthward fast flows observed by the P4 probe.The long-period Pi2(140–150 s)belongs to the transient response Pi2(TR Pi2),since the travel time of the Alfvén waves between the plasma sheet and CARISMA stations is very close to half the period of the long-period Pi2.The short-period Pi2(60–80 s)has the same period band as the perpendicular velocity of the fast flows,which indicates that it may relate to the inertial current caused by periodic braking of the earthward fast flows.The 210°MM stations located at the low-latitude duskside also observed Pi2s with the same start time,waveform and frequency,about^120 s after the earthward fast flows.Strong poloidal oscillations are shown by GOES-11(~23 MLT)and the compressional component(Bb)is highly correlated with H components of the 210°MM stations,whereas the other two components(Br and Be)are not.These results confirm that the low-latitude Pi2s are generated by cavity mode resonance,which is driven by an impulsive broadband source in the near-Earth magnetotail. | LUO Hao CHEN GengXiong DU AiMin | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,2: | 5 |
| 3 | Nightside field-aligned current during the April 6,2000 superstorm显示文摘Using the east-west geomagnetic disturbance fields observed from stations at mid-latitudes,we investigate the characteristics of field-aligned currents on the nightside during the April 6,2000 superstorm.The results indicate that there is an eastward disturbance on the nightside of Northern Hemisphere during the main phase of magnetic storm,while the interplanetary magnetic field(IMF)is continued southward.The positive disturbances in the postmidnight are larger than that in the premidnight.This suggests that upward field-aligned currents develop on the nightside,when the IMF is directed southward.The peak of upward fieldaligned currents is located in postmidnight,and it will be more obvious at substorm expansion.We get the conclusion that both partial ring current and region-2 field-aligned current shift to dusk sector.The upward region-2 current is decreased at substorm onset,and intensified after it.We also investigate the relationship between the upward field-aligned currents on the nightside and the auroral electrojets at high latitudes.It shows a good correspondence between region-2 current and the westward electrojet in the postmidnight.We suppose that they are both associated with the convection electric field. | WANG Yuan HONG MingHua CHEN GengXiong XU WenYao DU AiMin ZHAO XuDong LIU XiaoCan LUO Hao | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,20: | 3 |
| 4 | On the source of the quasi-Carrington Rotation periodic magnetic variations on the Martian surface: InSight observations and modeling显示文摘In a recent paper(Luo H et al.,2022),we found that the peak amplitudes of diurnal magnetic variations,measured during martian days(sols)at the InSight landing site,exhibited quasi Carrington-Rotation(qCR)periods at higher eigenmodes of the natural orthogonal components(NOC);these results were based on~664 sols of magnetic field measurements.However,the source of these periodic variations is still unknown.In this paper we introduce the neutral-wind driven ionospheric dynamo current model(e.g.,Lillis et al.,2019)to investigate the source.Four candidates-the draped IMF,electron density/plasma density,the neutral densities,and the electron temperature in the ionosphere with artificial qCR periodicity,are applied in the modeling to find the main factor likely to be causing the observed surface magnetic field variations that exhibit the same qCR periods.Results show that the electron density/plasma density,which controls the total conductivity in the dynamo region,appears to account for the greatest part of the surface qCR variations;its contribution reaches about 67.6%.The draped IMF,the neutral densities,and the electron temperature account,respectively,for only about 12.9%,10.3%,and 9.2%of the variations.Our study implies that the qCR magnetic variations on the Martian surface are due primarily to variations of the dynamo currents caused by the electron density variations.We suggest also that the timevarying fields with the qCR period could be used to probe the Martian interior's electrical conductivity structure to a depth of at least 700 km. | Hao Luo AiMin Du ShaoHua Zhang YaSong Ge Ying Zhang ShuQuan Sun Lin Zhao Lin Tian SongYan Li | 2022 | Earth and Planetary Physics2022,6,3: | 2 |
| 5 | A CADe system for nodule detection in thoracic CT images based on artificial neural network显示文摘Lung cancer has been the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in 2015 in United States. Early detection of lung nodules will undoubtedly increase the five-year survival rate for lung cancer according to prior studies. In this paper, we propose a novel rating method based on geometrical and statistical features to extract initial nodule candidates and an artificial neural network approach to the detection of lung nodules. The novel method is solely based on 3D distribution of neighboring voxels instead of user-specified features. During initial candidates detection, we combine organized region properties calculated from connected component analysis with corresponding voxel value distributions from statistical analysis to reduce false positives while retaining true nodules. Then we devise multiple artificial neural networks(ANNs) trained from massive voxel neighbor sampling of different types of nodules and organize the outputs using a 3D scoring method to identify final nodules. The experiments on 107 CT cases with 252 nodules in LIDC-IDRI data sets have shown that our new method achieves sensitivity of 89.4% while reducing the false positives to 2.0 per case. | 6 | Orthodontic simulation system with force feedback for training complete bracket placement procedures显示文摘Background A virtual system that simulates the complete process of orthodontic bracket placement can be used for pre-clinical skill training to help students gain confidence by performing the required tasks on a virtual patient.Methods The hardware for the virtual simulation system is built using two force feedback devices to support bi-manual force feedback operation.A 3D mouse is used to adjust the position of the virtual patient.A multi-threaded computational methodology is adopted to satisfy the requirements of the frame rate.The computation threads mainly consist of the haptic thread running at a frequency of>1000Hz and the graphic thread at>30Hz.The graphic thread allows the graphics engine to effectively display the visual effects of biofilm removal and acid erosion through texture mapping.Using the haptic thread,the physics engine adopts the hierarchy octree collision-detection algorithm to simulate the multi-point and multi-region interaction between the tools and the virtual environment.Its high efficiency guarantees that the time cost can be controlled within 1 ms.The physics engine also performs collision detection between the tools and particles,making it possible to simulate paint and removal of colloids.The surface-contact constraints are defined in the system;this ensures that the bracket will not divorce from or embed into the tooth during the adjustment of the bracket.Therefore,the simulated adjustment is more realistic and natural.Results A virtual system to simulate the complete process of orthodontic bracket bonding was developed.In addition to bracket bonding and adjustment,the system simulates the necessary auxiliary steps such as smearing,acid etching,and washing.Furthermore,the system supports personalized case training.Conclusions The system provides a new method for students to practice orthodontic skills. | Fan YE Luwei LIU Bin YAN Xiaohan ZHAO Aimin HAO | 2021 | Virtual Reality & Intelligent Hardware2021,3,4: | 2 |
| 7 | An efficient resin for solid-phase extraction and determination by UPLCMS/MS of 44 pharmaceutical personal care products in environmental waters显示文摘In this study,a hydrophilic resin named GCHM was fabricated based on poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone-codivinylbenzene),characterized,and applied as a solid-phase extraction(SPE)material.Up to 44 pharmaceuticals and personal care products(PPCPs)belonging to 10 classes were recovered in environmental water samples.Different variables affecting extraction,such as adsorbent amount,sample pH,and loading speed,were optimized.Under optimal conditions,the average absolute recovgy of 44 PPCPs was 75.6%using GCHM,indicating a better performance than the commercial Oasis^HLB.SPE with home-made hydrophilic polymeric sorbent followed by ultra-performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry was validated,and the method achieved good linearity(r2>0.991,for all analytes).In addition,the method detection limits of target compounds ranged from 0.03 to 0.6 ng/L.The developed method was applied to determine PPCPs in 10 environmental water samples taken from the Yangtze River,Huaihe River,and Taihu Lake,1 groundwater sample from Changzhou in Jiangsu Province,1 wastewater sample from Xiamen and 2 seawater samples from the Jiulong River in Fujian Province,China.In these samples,22 compounds were determined at levels ranging from 0.5 to 1590 ng/L. | Feng Zhu Zhijian Yao Wenliang Ji Deye Liu Hao Zhang Aimin Li Zongli Huo Qing Zhou | 2020 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2020,14,3: | 1 |

| 10 | Influence of the low-frequency source parameters on the plasma characteristics in a dual frequency capacitively coupled plasma reactor:Two dimensional simulations显示文摘A two-dimensional (2D) fluid model is presented to study the discharge of argon in a dual frequency capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) reactor. We are interested in the influence of low-frequency (LF) source parameters such as applied voltage amplitudes and low frequencies on the plasma characteristics. In this paper, the high frequency is set to 60 MHz with voltage 50 V. The simulations were carried out for low frequencies of 1, 2 and 6 MHz with LF voltage 100 V, and for LF voltages of 60, 90 and 120 V with low frequency 2 MHz. The results of 2D distributions of electric field and ion density, the ion flux impinging on the substrate and the ion energy on the powered electrode are shown. As the low frequency increases, two sources become from uncoupling to coupling. When two sources are uncoupling, the increase in LF has little impact on the plasma characteristics, but when two sources are coupling, the increase in LF decreases the uniformities of ion density and ion flux noticeably. | 11 | Modeling of mechanical properties of as-cast Mg-Li-Al alloys based on PSO-BP algorithm显示文摘Artificial neural networks have been widely used to predict the mechanical properties of alloys in material research.This study aims to investigate the implicit relationship between the compositions and mechanical properties of as-cast Mg-Li-Al alloys.Based on the experimental collection of the tensile strength and the elongation of representative Mg-Li-Al alloys,a momentum back-propagation(BP)neural network with a single hidden layer was established.Particle swarm optimization(PSO)was applied to optimize the BP model.In the neural network,the input variables were the contents of Mg,Li and Al,and the output variables were the tensile strength and the elongation. | 12 | Personalized cardiovascular intervention simulation system显示文摘Background This study proposes a series of geometry and physics modeling methods for personalized cardiovascular intervention procedures,which can be applied to a virtual endovascular simulator.Methods Based on personalized clinical computed tomography angiography(CTA)data,mesh models of the cardiovascular system were constructed semi-automatically.By coupling 4 D magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)sequences corresponding to a complete cardiac cycle with related physics models,a hybrid kinetic model of the cardiovascular system was built to drive kinematics and dynamics simulation.On that basis,the surgical procedures related to intervention instruments were simulated using specially-designed physics models.These models can be solved in real-time;therefore,the complex interactions between blood vessels and instruments can be well simulated.Additionally,X-ray imaging simulation algorithms and realistic rendering algorithms for virtual intervention scenes are also proposed.In particular,instrument tracking hardware with haptic feedback was developed to serve as the interaction interface of real instruments and the virtual intervention system.Finally,a personalized cardiovascular intervention simulation system was developed by integrating the techniques mentioned above.Results This system supported instant modeling and simulation of personalized clinical data and significantly improved the visual and haptic immersions of vascular intervention simulation.Conclusions It can be used in teaching basic cardiology and effectively satisfying the demands of intervention training,personalized intervention planning,and rehearsing. | Aimin HAO Jiahao CUI Shuai LI Qinping ZHAO | 2020 | Virtual Reality & Intelligent Hardware2020,2,2: | 1 |

| 20 | Haptics-equiped interactive PCI simulation for patient-specific surgery training and rehearsing显示文摘Despite the long history of medical simulations, suffering from the patient-specific heterogeneous heart physiological structure and complex intravascular procedures, it is still challenging for patient-specific percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) surgery simulation. In this paper, we advocate a haptics-equiped interactive prototype system towards PCI surgeons training and patient-specific surgery rehearsing, which can afford trainees the opportunity to approximately experience the entire PCI procedures and customized emergency cases that might occur in common clinical settings. The full simulation covers tissue deformation, catheter and wire simulation, X-ray simulation, haptic feedback, and 3D realistic rendering, which in all give rise to the integrated physical, visual, haptic, and procedural realism. Our system can accommodate various comprehensive operations involved in PCI-related procedures, including feeding wires, releasing stents, injecting contrast medium, simulating X-ray, bleeding, etc. Moreover, our system framework is fully built upon CUDA, and thus can achieve real-time performance even on a common desktop.
