| 4 | Transition along gradient from warm to mesic temperate forests evaluated by GAMM显示文摘Aims The aim of the study was to discover what set of variables best explains the transition from warm to mesic forest vegetation.Based on various variables grouped into sets(geomorphological, ecological, structural, soil characteristics and chorological),six models were built and tested by generalized additive mixed models(GAMMs).We assumed that each set of variables has different explanatory power. Our aim was to compare the six different models(sets of variables),to test which model best explains the species turnover in forest communities along the transition between warm and mesic temperate forests and to try to find reasons for the different explanatory power of the models. Methods The research took place in the southern part of the Balkan Peninsula.Field sampling was done according to standard methods. The gradient from warm to mesic forests was defined as the turnover of species and evaluated by projection of samples on the first unconstrained DCA axis.Geomorphological, ecological, structural and soil characteristics, together with chorological sets of variables, were regressed on the turnover of species composition.Based on the five sets of variables, six models were constructed and tested by generalized additive mixed models.Important Findings Ecological conditions best explain the change of forest communities along the gradient;evolution and the development of vegetation reflected in chorotypes are also of high importance;geomorphology and structure seem not to change so dramatically and soil shows the least significant differences of all.Ecological variables are the most important set of variables in the transition between warm and mesic temperate forests but eco-evolutionary dynamics after the Pleistocene should also be taken into consideration. | AndražČarni Vlado Matevski Nina Juvan Mitko Kostadinovski Petra Košir Aleksander Marinšek Andrej Paušič UrbanŠilc | 2016 | Journal of Plant Ecology2016,9,4: | 1 |

| 11 | Comprehensive semen examination in patients with pancreatic-sufficient and pancreatic-insufficient cystic fibrosis显示文摘We examined a cohort of 93 cystic fibrosis(CF)male patients who were pancreatic-sufficient(PS-CF;n=40)or pancreatic-insufficient(PI-CF;n=53).Complex semen examination was performed, including standard semen analysis, quantitative karyological analysis(QKA)of immature germ cells(IGCs),transmission electronic microscopy(TEM),biochemical analysis, and sperm DNA fragmentation by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nickend labeling(TUNEL)assay.Azoospermia was diagnosed in 83(89.2%)patients.The other 10(10.8%)patients were found to be nonazoospermic and showed various spermatological diagnoses(asthenozoospermia,n=2;asthenoteratozoospermia,n=3;oligoasthenozoospermia,n=1;oligoasthenoteratozoospermia,n=3;and normozoospermia,n=1)with no specific morphological abnormalities.Oligospermia was detected in 89.2%azoospermic and 30.0%nonazoospermic patients.Low seminal pH(<7.0)was found in 74(89.2%)of 83 azoospermic patients.Moderate leukocytospermia(2.0×10^(6)-2.2×10^(6)ml^(-1))was revealed in 2.4%azoospermic and 40.0%nonazoospermic semen samples. The signs of partial meiotic arrest at prophase I were found in 4 of 6 nonazoospermic patients examined by QKA of IGCs.The content of fructose and citrate was low in oligospermic and normal in nonoligospermic semen samples. An increased percentage(>30%)of spermatozoa with noncondensed(“immature”)chromatin was revealed in 2 of 6 nonazoospermic semen samples analyzed by TEM. | Anna O Sedova Maria I Shtaut Elizaveta E Bragina Tatyana M Sorokina Galina V Shmarina Marina V Andreeva Lyubov E Kurilo Stanislav A Krasovskiy Aleksander V Polyakov Vyacheslav B Chernykh | 2023 | Asian Journal of Andrology2023,25,5: | 0 |
