| 1 | A community-derived classification for extant lycophytes and ferns显示文摘发展史长通知了蕨类植物分类。 | Eric Schuettpelz Harald Schneider Alan R. | 2 | Epidemiological study: Correlation between diet habits and constipation among elderly in Beijing region显示文摘AIM To investigate correlations between diet and prevalence of constipation among elderly people in Beijing.METHODS A total of 2776(≥ 60 years) were selected in Beijing region for investigation. Data regarding constipation and diet habits was collected via hierarchical status, segmentation and random cluster sampling. Investigation included constipation-related demographic indicators and diet habits. Door-to-door questionnaires and surveys included daily staple food intakes, frequency of fish, egg, fruits and vegetables consumption. Constipation was defined according to the China Chronic Constipation Diagnosis and Treatment Guideline(2013), with the following constipation judgment indicators: decreased defecation frequency, dry and hard stool, and difficulty in defecation.RESULTS The prevalence of constipation among elderly people in Beijing region was 13%. There was a positive correlation between prevalence of constipation and age, but negative correlations between prevalence of constipation and staple food, fish and dietary fibres(fruits and vegetables) intakes. These differences were all statistically significant.CONCLUSION The prevalence of elderly constipation in Beijing region is closely related to diet habits, and is significantly decreased by high staple foods intake, fish eating and high dietary fibres(fruits and vegetables) consumption. | Xiao-Jiao Yang Mei Zhang Hong-Ming Zhu Zhe Tang Dan-Dan Zhao Bang-Yi Li Amanda Gabriel | 2016 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2016,22,39: | 19 |

| 5 | Pathogenesis of Chagas disease cardiomyopathy显示文摘Chagas disease, or American trypanosomiasis, is a parasitic infection caused by the flagellate protozoanTrypanosoma cruzi. Chagas disease is mainly affecting rural populations in Mexico and Central and South America. The World Health Organization estimates that 300 000 new cases of Chagas disease occur every year and approximately 20 000 deaths are attributable to Chagas. However, this organisation classified Chagas disease as a neglected tropical disease. The economic burden of this disease is significant. In many Latin American countries, the direct and indirect costs, including the cost of health care in dollars and loss of productivity, attributable to Chagas disease ranges from $40 million to in excess of $800 million per nation per annum. So, it remains a contemporary public health concern. In chronic phase, mortality is primarily due to the rhythm disturbances and congestive heart failure that result from the chronic inflammatory cardiomyopathy(CCC) due to the persistence presence of parasites in the heart tissue. Mechanisms underlying differential progression to CCC are still incompletely understood. In the last decades immunological proteomic genetic approaches lead to significant results which help to disperse the veil covering the knowledge of the pathogenic process. Here, we reported these significant progresses. | Priscila Camillo Teixeira Amanda Farrage Frade Luciana Gabriel Nogueira Jorge Kalil Christophe Chevillard Edecio Cunha-Neto | 2012 | World Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases2012,2,3: | 0 |
| 6 | Philippine retinoblastoma initiative multi-eye center study 2010-2020显示文摘AIM:To provide a comprehensive and more representative national data on the disease, especially on treatment options and outcomes, and to determine access of retinoblastoma patients from Luzon,Visayas and Mindanao to eye care, and determine if access is associated with delay in consultation, staging and outcomes.METHODS:Cohort study of retinoblastoma patients seen in eleven institutions located in the three major areas of the Philippines namely Luzon,Vizayas and Mindanao from 2010-2020.RESULTS:Totally 636 patients, involving 821 eyes, were included.Majority(57%)were from Luzon and were seen in institutions in Luzon(72%).Annually,58±10 new cases were seen with 71%having unilateral disease.Median delay of consultation remained long at 9(3,17)mo,longest in patients with unilateral disease(P<0.02)and those from the Visayas(P<0.003).Based on the International Retinoblastoma Staging System, only 35%of patients had Stage 1 while 47%already had extraocular disease.Enucleation was the most common treatment received by 484 patients while intravenous chemotherapy was received by 469.There were 250(39%)patients alive,195(31%)dead,85(13%)abandoned,17(3%)refused and 89(14%)with no data.CONCLUSION:This study presents the largest cohort of retinoblastoma patients in the Philippines in terms of patients’and participating institutions’number and geographical location and type of institution(private and public). It also presents more comprehensive data on the treatments used and outcomes(survival, globe salvage, and vision retention rates).Delay in consultation was still long among patients leading to advanced disease stage and lower survival rate.Despite increasing capacity to diagnose and manage retinoblastoma in the country, the delay of consultation remains long primarily due to accessibility issues to eye care institutions especially in the Visayas and financial concerns. The delay was still significant that overall survival rate remain low. | Roland Joseph D.Tan Gary John V.Mercado Patricia E.Cabrera Paulita Pamela P.Astudillo Rolando Enrique D.Domingo Josept Mari S.Poblete Charmaine Grace M.Cabebe Adriel Vincent R.Te Melissa Anne S.Gonzales Jocelyn G.Sy Beltran Alexis A.Aclan Jayson T.So Fatima G.Regala Kimberley Amanda K.Comia Josemaria M.Castro Mara Augustine S.Galang Aldous Dominic C.Cabanlas Benedicto Juan E.Aguilar Gabrielle S.Evangelista Jo Michael Maniwan Andrei P.Martin Calvin Y.Martinez John Alfred H.Lim Rena Ivy Bascuna Rachel M.Ng Kevin B.Agsaoay Kris Zanna A.Acluba-Arao Ellaine Rose V.Apostol Beatriz M.Prieto | 2024 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2024,17,1: | 0 |
| 7 | The roles of anurans in antagonistic networks are explained by life-habit and body-size显示文摘Interactions among living beings are the structuring basis of ecosystems, and studies of networks allow us to identify the patterns and consistency of such interactions.Antagonistic networks reflect the energy flow of communities, and identifying network structure and the biological aspects that influence its stability is crucial to understanding ecosystem functioning. We used antagonistic anuran interactions-predator-prey and host-parasite-to assess structural patterns and to identify the key anuran species structuring these networks. We tested whether anuran body-size and life-habit are related to their roles in these networks. We collected individuals of 9 species of anurans from an area of the Atlantic Forest in Brazil and identified their prey and helminth parasites. We used network(modularity, specialization, and nestedness)and centrality metrics(degree, closeness, and betweenness)to identify the role of anuran species in both networks. We then evaluated whether anuran body-size or life-habit were related to anuran centrality using generalized linear mixed models. The networks formed specialized interactions in compartments composed by key species from different habits. In our networks, anurans with rheophilic and cryptozoic habit are central in predator-prey networks, and those with larger body size and arboreal and cryptozoic habit in the host-parasite network. This study represents a step towards a better understanding of the influential factors that affect the structure of anuran antagonist networks,as well as to recognize the functioning roles of anuran species. | Amanda Caroline DUDCZAK Gabriel Massaccesi DE LA TORRE Lorena EUCLYDES Karla Magalhães CAMPIÃO | 2022 | Integrative Zoology2022,17,4: | 0 |
