1The Assessment and Utilization of Straw Resources in China显示文摘The study was undertaken to evaluate the collectable and usable volume of existing straw resources, its suitability for different ways of utilization and fully reorganization of its development potential in China. Based on the results on the stubble heights of major crops in the Huang-Huai-Hai area (the area along the Yellow River, Huai River, and Hai River), the evaluation of the collectable and usable coefficients, and the collectable and usable volumes of various straw resources in China were worked out during 2005. The respective collectable and usable volumes of straw resources were worked out on the basis of suitability as fuel, feed, fertilizer, and base material for edible mushrooms. The total collectable and utilizable quantity of straw in China was 685 950 000 t, and the mean collection coefficient was 0.81 during 2005. The quantity of straw residue and wasted straw accounted for 19%. The collectable and utilizable quantities of grain, cash crop, and other crop straw were 492 310 000, 162 610 000, and 31 030 000 t which accounted for 71.77, 23.71, and 4.52%, respectively of the total collectable and utilizable quantity of straw. The quantity of straw which could be used as fuel was 635 000 000 t, which accounted for 92.63% of total quantity of the straw in the country during 2005. Among the total quantity of collectable and utilizable straw in China during 2005, the quantities of straw suitable and unsuitable for being processed as feedstuff were 587 640 000 and 98 310 000 t, which accounted for 85.67 and 14.33%, respectively. The quantity of straw residue returned to the field and collectable and utilizable straw for direct field restoration was 616 000 000 t, which accounted for about three-fourths of the total straw yield, while the quantity of straw for cultivation of edible mushrooms and industrial processing was about 587 000 000 t, which accounted for more than 85% of the total collectable and utilizable straw. 2Stability of SARS Coronavirus in Human Specimens and Environment and Its Sensitivity to Heating and UV Irradiation显示文摘The causal agent for SARS is considered as a novel coronavirus that has never been described both in human and animals previously. The stability of SARS coronavirus in human specimens and in environments was studied. Methods Using a SARS coronavirus strain CoV-P9,which was isolated from pharyngeal swab of a probable SARS case in Beijing, its stability in mimic human specimens and in mimic environment including surfaces of commonly used materials or in household conditions, as well as its resistances to temperature and UV irradiation were analyzed. A total of 106 TCID50 viruses were placed in each tested condition, and changes of the viral infectivity in samples after treatments were measured by evaluating cytopathic effect (CPE) in cell line Vero-E6 at 48 h after infectionn. Results The results showed that SARS coronavirus in the testing condition could survive in serum, 1:20 diluted sputum and feces for at least 96 h, whereas it could remain alive in urine for at least 72 h with a low level of infectivity. The survival abilities on the surfaces of eight different materials and in water were quite comparable, revealing reduction of infectivity after 72 to 96 h exposure. Viruses stayed stable at 4℃, at room temperature (20℃) and at 37℃ for at least 2 h without remarkable change in the infectious ability in cells, but were convened to be non-infectious after 90-, 60- and 30-min exposure at 56℃, at 67℃ and at 75℃, respectively. Irradiation of UV for 60 min on the virus in culture medium resulted in the destruction of viral infectivity at an undetectable level. Conclusion The survival ability of SARS coronavirus in human specimens and in environments seems to be relatively strong. 3Volcanism at the Permian-Triassic Boundary in South China and Its Effects on Mass Extinction显示文摘This paper discusses the clayrocks widespread at the Permian-Triassic boundary, which are mostly of volcanic origin. Volcanogenetic textures, structures and minerals such as high-temperature quartz are found in clayrocks at the Permian-Triassic boundary in many places. Thousands of microspherules have been collected from the Boundary clayrocks, many of which exhibit the typical features of the process from melting to cooling and solidification. indicating that they were formed by volcanic eruption or extraterrestrial impact. Volcanic effects on the Permian-Triassic mass extinction may be reflected in conodonts, algae and ammonoids. The Boundary clayrocks are found in many Permian-Triassic sections along the coast of Tethys. 5Atmospheric Deposition-Carried Pb, Zn, and Cd from a Zinc Smelter and Their Effect on Soil Microorganisms显示文摘Dust emissions from smelters, as a major contributor to heavy metal contamination in soils, could severely influence soil quality. Downwind surface soils within 1.5 km of a zinc smelter, which was active for 10 years but ceased in 2000, in Magu Town, Guizhou Province, China were selected to examine Pb, Zn, and Cd concentrations and their fractionation along a distance gradient from a zinc smelter, and to study the possible e?ects of Pb, Zn, and Cd accumulation on soil microorganisms by comparing with a reference soil located at a downwind distance of 10 km from the zinc smelter. Soils within 1.5 km of the zinc smelter accumulated high levels of heavy metals Zn (508 mg kg-1), Pb (95.6 mg kg-1), and Cd (5.98 mg kg-1) with low ratios of Zn/Cd (59.1-115) and Pb/Cd (12.4-23.4). Composite pollution indices (CPIs) of surface soils (2.52-15.2) were 3 to 13 times higher than the reference soils. In metal accumulated soils, exchangeable plus carbonate-bound fractions accounted for more than 10% of the total Zn, Pb, and Cd. The saturation degree of metals (SDM) in soils within 1.5 km of the smelter (averaging 1.25) was six times higher than that of the reference soils (0.209). A smaller soil microbial biomass was found more frequently in metal accumulated soils (85.1-438 μg C g-1) than in reference soils (497 μg C g-1), and a negative correlation (P < 0.01) of soil microbial biomass carbon to organic carbon ratio (Cmic/Corg) with SDM was observed. Microbial consumption of carbon sources was more rapid in contaminated soils than in reference soils, and a shift in the substrate utilization pattern was apparent and was negatively correlated with SDM (R = -0.773, P < 0.01). 6Effect of Traveling Magnetic Field on Mould-Filling Length of the A357 Melt during Casting Thin Walled Plate显示文摘In order to improve the mould filling ability, the method for production of thin-walled castings in the travelingmagnetic field was applied. The relationship between magnetic field density and input voltage as well as distancewas investigated, and the mould filling length of A357 melt has been studied. The electromagnetic forcesappliedon the melt were also analyzed. The result shows that the mould-filling length of the melt increase rapidly with theincrease of magnetic flux density. The mould filling lengths in gypsum upper mould and magnetic material uppermould were compared from the standpoint of application. 9Diffusion Bonding of Silicon Carbide Particulate Reinforced 2024 Al Composites显示文摘A study has been made on diffusion bonding of SiCp/2024Al composites by means of pure Al interlayer. In the condition of TB=843 K, PB=16 MPa, tB=60 min, the diffusion bonded joint, with a shear strength of 235 MPa, was obtained when a 15μm thick interlayer was used. 10Using yeast two-hybrid system to identify ECRG2 associated proteins and their possible interactions with ECRG2 gene显示文摘AIM: To identify esophageal cancer related gene2 (ECRG2)associated proteins and their possible interactions withECRG2 gene.METHODS: In the yeast forward two-hybrid system, ECRG2was fused with the DNA-binding domain (DBD) of Gal4 andhuman fetal liver cDNA library was fused with thetranscriptional activation domain (AD) of Gal4. We performeda high-stringency scale procedure to screen ECRG2 againsthuman fetal liver cDNA library and characterized positivesby sequence analysis.RESULTS: We found the following 9 putatively associatedproteins. They were metallothionein2A, metallothionein1H,metallothionein1G, ferritin, erythrocyte membrane proteinband4.2, mitochondrial ribosomal protein S12, hypotheticalprotein FLJ10101, and a novel gene whose cDNA was foundto have no strong homology to any other previouslycharacterized gene whose DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank accessionnumber is AF422192 mapped to human chromosome 14q31.CONCLUSION: MT, a potential interaction partner forECRG2, might be involved in the regulation of cellproliferation and apoptosis, and in various physiologicalprocesses. Determination of a reliability score for each singleprotein-protein interaction, especially interaction of ECRG2and MT, permits the assignment of ECRG2 and unannotatedproteins to biological pathways. 11Denitrification in tidal flat sediment, Yangtze estuary显示文摘Sediment denitrification rates at six Yangtze River estuary tidal flat locations (mudflats and salt marshes) were measured from July 2003 to October 2004. In winter and summer, spatial distribution of denitrification rates was not great in the Yangtze estuary, while in spring and autumn, denitrification rates had a great spatial distribution because of the human activity effect. The temporal change of de- nitrification rates was greater. They ranged from 0.2 to 36.4 μmolN·m?2·h?1, and were higher in the summertime. The annual average of sediment denitrification rate was 18.2±12.3 μmolN·m?2·h?1 in the middle tidal flat and 15.1±9.45 μmolN·m?2·h?1 in the low tidal flat in the Yangtze estuary. Data analysis indicated that the temperature was the primary factor controlling the process of denitrification (sig- nificant positive correlation, P < 0.01); at the same time, the content of sediment total nitrogen (TN) and the molar ratio of sediment carbon and nitrogen (C/N) had significant positive correlation (P < 0.05) and negative correlation (P < 0.05) with denitrification rates, respectively. 13Ge-rich hydrothermal solutions and abnormal enrichment of Ge in coal显示文摘AT present, the main source of germanium includes two types of ore deposits: some sulfide-rich Pb, Zn,Cu, Ag and An deposits and some coal deposits. Germanium occurs as an associated element in these oredeposits. The Lincang germanium deposit discovered recently in China occurs in a basin where there areexposed the Neogene coal-bearing clastic rocks with Indosinian Ge-rich ((1.9-5.0)×10-6) granitesas the basement in Lincang County, Yunnan Province. Germanium is mainly concentrated in the coalseams of the first coal-bearing horizon (Nth2) and in regard to its grade (normally n×100×10-6 with themaximum over 1000×10-6) and scale (the proven reserve about 800 t), no such germanium mineralization has been reported so far in other parts of the world. What is the reason? The available studies have indicated that this germanium deposit is of epigenetic origin, whichdetermines that germanium must have been transferred into coal with the help of a kind of medium. 16New Robust Exponential Stability Analysis for Uncertain Neural Networks with Time-varying Delay显示文摘In this paper, the global robust exponential stability is considered for a class of neural networks with parametric uncer-tainties and time-varying delay. By using Lyapunov functional method, and by resorting to the new technique for estimating the upper bound of the derivative of the Lyapunov functional, some less conservative exponential stability criteria are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). 17Biosynthesis of Unsaturated Fatty Acids via Mortierella Isabellina Cultivated in a Medium Containing Butanol显示文摘Mortierella isabellina was found to accumulate large amounts of unsaturated fatty acids when it was grown in a medium containing butanol(5 g/L) and yeast extract(10 g/L) and cultivated at 25 ℃ for 5 d during which additional feeding butanol of 2 g/L was fed after being cultivated for 48 h . The resultant mycelial lipids accounted for 40 1% of the dry mycelia, while about 34% of butanol in the medium was converted. The mycelial lipids contained four kinds of unsaturated fatty acids, i.e ., palmitoleic(4 9%), oleic(54 1%), linoleic(10 4%) and linolenic(5 4%) acids. Those accounted for 74 8% of the total fatty acids. 19PREPARATION OF Fe/Ni MULTILAYER FILMS AND THEIR MAGNETIC PROPERTIES显示文摘FeNi multilayer films were prepared by EB-PVD technique. A modified TG-DSC apparatus was used to measure their Curie temperatures, which were around 7600C, lower than that of pure Fe thin films. The easy magnetization axis was in-plane. High temperature annealing in vacuum decreased the coercivity sharply. The saturation magnetization also changed with heat treatment.
