1Assessment of SARS-CoV-2 RNA shedding in semen of 36 males with symptomatic, asymptomatic, and convalescent infection during the first and second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in Italy显示文摘The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)receptor,angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2),has been identified in the human testis, but the risk of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 through sexual intercourse still needs to be defined. The goal of our study was to determine if SARS-CoV-2 is detectable in the semen of patients suffering or recovering from coronavirus disease-19(COVID-19),still testing positive at nasopharyngeal swabs but showing mild or no symptoms at the time of sampling.Detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in semen was performed by real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and nested PCR targeting open reading frame(ORF)1ab.Medical history of the enrolled patients was taken, including COVID-19-correlated symptoms, both at the time of diagnosis and at the time of interview. Results of real-time RT-PCR and nested PCR in semen showed no evidence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in the 36 patients suffering or recovering from COVID-19 but still positive in a nasopharyngeal swab, from over 116 patients enrolled in the study.SARS-CoV-2 detection and persistence in semen would have an impact on both clinical practice and public health strategies, but our results would suggest that SARS-CoV-2 is not present in the semen of men recovering from COVID-19.Carlo Pavone Giovanni M Giammanco Andrea Pio Cascino Davide Baiamonte Mirko Pinelli Enrico Cangelosi Chiara Filizzolo Giuseppa Sciortino Simona De Grazia Floriana Bonura 2022Asian Journal of Andrology2022,24,2:0
2A multi-agent system for itinerary suggestion in smart environments显示文摘Modem smart environments pose several challenges, among which the design of intelligent algorithms aimed to assist the users. When a variety of points of interest are available, for instance, trajectory recommendations are needed to suggest users the most suitable itineraries based on their interests and contextual constraints.Unfortunately in many cases, these interests must be explicitly requested and their lack causes the so-called cold-start problem. Moreover, lengthy travelling distances and excessive crowdedness of specific points of interest make itinerary planning more difficult. To address these aspects,a multi-agent itinerary suggestion system that aims at assisting the users in an online and collaborative way is proposed.A profiling agent is responsible for the detection of groups of users whose movements are characterised by similar semantic, spatial and temporal features;then,a recommendation agent leverages contextual information and dynamically associates the current user with the trajectory clusters according to a Multi-Armed Bandit policy;Framing the trajectory recommendation as a reinforcement learning problem permits to provide high-quality suggestions while avoiding both cold-start and preference elicitation issues. The effectiveness of the approach is demonstrated by some deployments in real-life scenarios, such as smart campuses and theme parks.Alessandra De Paola Salvatore Gaglio Andrea Giammanco Giuseppe Lo Re Marco Morana 2021CAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology2021,6,4:0
3Final results of the first phase of the PROTO-SPHERA experiment: obtainment of the full current stable screw pinch and first evidences of the jet + torus combined plasma configuration显示文摘In astrophysics, the boundary conditions for plasma phenomena are provided by nature and the astronomer faces the problem of understanding them from a variety of observations [Hester J J et al 1996 Astrophys. J. 456 225], on the other hand, in laboratory plasma experiments the electromagnetic boundary conditions become a major problem in the set-up of the machine that produces the plasma, an issue that has to be investigated step by step and to be modified and adapted with great patience, in particular in the case of an innovative plasma confinement experiment. The PROTO-SPHERA machine [Alladio F et al 2006 Nucl. Fusion 46 S613] is a magnetic confinement experiment, that emulates in the laboratory the jet + torus plasma configurations often observed in astrophysics: an inner magnetized jet of plasma centered on the(approximate) axis of symmetry and surrounded by a magnetized plasma torus orthogonal to this jet. The PROTO-SPHERA plasma is simply connected, i.e., no metal current conducting rod is linked to the plasma torus, while instead it is the inner magnetized plasma jet(in the following always called the plasma centerpost) that is linked to the torus. It is mandatory that no spurious plasma current path modifies the optimal shape of the plasma centerpost. Moreover, as the plasma torus is produced and sustained, in absence of any applied inductive electric field, by the inner plasma centerpost through magnetic reconnections [Taylor J B and Turner M F 1989 Nucl.Fusion 29 219], it is required as well that spurious current paths do not surround the torus on its outboard, in order not to lower the efficiency of the magnetic reconnections that maintain the plasma torus at the expense of the plasma centerpost. Boundary conditions have been corrected,up to the point that the first sustainment in steady state has been achieved for the combined plasma.Paolo MICOZZI Franco ALLADIO Alessandro MANCUSO Vincenzo ZANZA Gerarda APRUZZESE Francesca BOMBARDA Luca BONCAGNI Paolo BURATTI Francesco FILIPPI Giuseppe GALATOLA TEKA Francesco GIAMMANCO Edmondo GIOVANNOZZI Andrea GROSSO Matteo IAFRATI Alessandro LAMPASI Violeta LAZIC Simone MAGAGNINO Simone MANNORI Paolo MARSILI Valerio PIERGOTTI Giuliano ROCCHI Alessandro SIBIO Benedetto TILIA Onofrio TUDISCO 2024Plasma Science and Technology2024,26,2:0
