4Reflection of cultural practices on syntactical values:An introduction to the application of space syntax to vernacular Malay architecture显示文摘This study introduces the basic concepts and terminologies regarding space syntax research through a simpte spatiat configuration.The concepts are etaborated for intricate configurations.This study aims to deepen the understanding of how syntactical analysis can extract social information embedded in traditional architectural practice in the Malay Archipelago.The basic terminologies are outlined,and the sequential procedure for analysis is described along with its interpretation in the context of actual social phenomena.Result shows that the syntactical properties of a particular configuration within a particular region reflect the traditions of the people in that region.This study serves as a basis for the future study of the applications of space syntax to diverse spatial configurations in the Matay Archipelago.Nayeem Asif Nanskula Utaberta Azmal Bin Sabil Sumarni Ismail 2018Frontiers of Architectural Research2018,7,4:0
5Fabrication of La,Ce co-doped ZnO nanorods for improving photodegradation of methylene blue显示文摘La,Ce co-doped ZnO nanorods(ZnLC)were synthesized through a one-step solvothermal route.The photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction,Raman spectroscopy,field-emission scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive X-ray,transmission electron microscopy,UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and photo luminescence spectroscopy.The La and Ce doping enhanced the visible light absorption ability of ZnLC and a red shift was detected for ZnLC.Under simulated solar light irradiation,the ZnO doped with 3 at%La and 1 at%Ce(ZnLC1)degrades methylene blue(MB)more effectively than those of pure ZnO,La-doped ZnO(ZnL)and commercially available ZnO.The improved photocatalytic performance of ZnLC1 can be attributed to the high charge separation efficiency as demonstrated by the photoluminescence spectra.Additionally,the photocatalytic experiments reveal that several parameters have their own impact on the MB degradation.Using a variety of radical scavengers,it is discovered that superoxide anion radical plays a crucial role in the degradation of MB.The ZnLC1 is also reused several times without noticeable decrease of photoactivity,indicating that it has a substantial potential for environmental remediation applications.Erfan Hakim Azmal Zaid Jin-Chung Sin Sze-Mun Lam Abdul Rahman Mohamed 2024Journal of Rare Earths2024,42,1:0
