1A Method for the Determination of Turbulence Intensity by Means of a Fast Response Pressure Probe and its Application in a LP Turbine显示文摘This paper describes the measurements and the post-processing procedure adopted for the determination of the turbulence intensity in a low pressure turbine (LPT) by means of a single sensor fast response aerodynamic pressure probe. The rig was designed in cooperation with MTU Aero Engines and considerable efforts were put into the adjustment of all relevant model parameters. Blade count ratio, airfoil aspect ratio, reduced massflow, reduced speed, inlet turbulence intensity and Reynolds numbers were chosen to reproduce the full scale LP turbine. Measurements were performed adopting a phase-locked acquisition technique in order to provide the time resolved flow field downstream of the turbine rotor. The total pressure random fluctuations are obtained by selectively filtering, in the frequency domain, the deterministic unsteadiness due to the rotor blades and coherent structures. The turbulence intensity is derived from the inverse Fourier transform and the correlations between total pressure and velocity fluctuations. 2Framework based on building information modeling, mixed reality, and a cloud platform to support information flow in facility management显示文摘The quality of information flow management has a remarkable effect on the entire life cycle of buildings.Manual retrieval of technical specifications and features of building components and their performance assessment leads to increased cost and time and efficiency reduction,especially during the facility management(FM)stage.The introduction of building information modeling(BIM)in the construction industry can provide a valuable means of improving the organization and exchange of information.BIM tools integrate multiple levels of information within a single digital model of a building.Nevertheless,the support given by BIM to FM is far from being fully effective.Technicians can benefit from real-time communication with the data repository whenever the need for gathering contextual information and/or updating any data in the digital model arises.The framework proposed in this study aims to develop a system that supports on-site operations.Information requirements have been determined from the analyses of procedures that are usually implemented in the building life cycle.These studies set the standard for the development of a digital model of a building,which will be shared among various actors in charge of FM and accessed via a cloud platform.Moreover,mixed reality is proposed to support specific information that is relevant to geometric features and procedures to be followed by operators.This article presents three use-cases supported by the proposed framework.In addition,this research article describes the first proof of concept regarding real-time support for FM.Berardo NATICCHIA Alessandra CORNELI Alessandro CARBONARI 2020Frontiers of Engineering Management2020,7,1:3
3Biologic agents for anterior cruciate ligament healing: a systematic review显示文摘AIM To systematically review the currently available literature concerning the application of biologic agents such as platelet-rich plasma(PRP) and stem cells to promote anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) healing.METHODS A systematic review of the literature was performed on the use of biologic agents(i.e., PRP or stem cells) to favor ACL healing during reconstruction or repair. The following inclusion criteria for relevant articles were used: Clinical reports of any level of evidence, written in English language, on the use of PRP or stem cells during ACL reconstruction/repair. Exclusion criteria were articles written in other languages, reviews, or studies analyzing other applications of PRP/stem cells in knee surgery not related to promoting ACL healing.RESULTS The database search identified 394 records that were screened. A total of 23 studies were included in the final analysis: In one paper stem cells were applied for ACL healing, in one paper there was a concomitant application of PRP and stem cells, whereas in the remaining21 papers PRP was used. Based on the ACL injury pattern, two papers investigated biologic agents in ACL partial tears whereas 21 papers in ACL reconstruction.Looking at the quality of the available literature, 17 out of 21 studies dealing with ACL reconstruction were randomized controlled trials. Both studies on ACL repair were case series.CONCLUSION There is a paucity of clinical trials investigating the role of stem cells in promoting ACL healing both in case of partial and complete tears. 4Localization and role of metabotropic glutamate receptors subtype 5 in the gastrointestinal tract显示文摘Metabotropic glutamate receptor subtype 5(mGluR5) is a Group I mGlu subfamily of receptors coupled to the inositol trisphosphate/diacylglycerol pathway. Like other m Glu R subtypes, mGluR5 s contain a phylogenetically conserved, extracellular orthosteric binding site and a more variable allosteric binding site, located on the heptahelical transmembrane domain. The mGluR5 receptor has proved to be a key pharmacological target in conditions affecting the central nervous system(CNS) but its presence outside the CNS underscores its potential role in pathologies affecting peripheral organs such as the gastrointestinal(GI) tract and accessory digestive organs such as the tongue, liver and pancreas. Following identification of mGluR5s in the mouth, various studies have subsequently demonstrated its involvement in mechanical allodynia, inflammation, pain and oral cancer. mGluR5 expression has also been identified in gastroesophageal vagal pathways. Indeed, experimental and human studies have demonstrated that mGluR5 blockade reduces transient lower sphincter relaxation and reflux episodes. In the intestine, mGluR5s have been shown to be involved in the control of intestinal inflammation, visceral pain and the epithelial barrier function. In the liver, mGluR5s have a permissive role in the onset of ischemic injury in rat and mice hepatocytes. Conversely, livers from mice treated with selective negative allosteric modulators and mGluR5 knockout mice are protected against ischemic injury. Similar results have been observed in experimental models of free-radical injury and in vivo mouse models of acetaminophen intoxication. Finally, mGluR5s in the pancreas are associated with insulin secretion control. 5Liver plays a central role in asymmetric dimethylargininemediated organ injury显示文摘Asymmetric-dimethylarginine(ADMA) competes with L-arginine for each of the three isoforms of nitric oxide synthase:endothelial;neuronal;inducible.ADMA is synthesized by protein methyltransferases followed by proteolytic degradation.ADMA is metabolized to citrulline and dimethylamine,by dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase(DDAH) and enters cells through cationic amino-acid transporters extensively expressed in the liver.The liver plays a crucial role in ADMA metabolism by DDAH-1 and,as has been recently demonstrated,it is also responsible for ADMA biliary excretion.A correlation has been demonstrated between plasma ADMA levels and the degree of hepatic dysfunction in patients suffering from liver diseases with varying aetiologies:plasma ADMA levels are increased in patients with liver cirrhosis,alcoholic hepatitis and acute liver failure.The mechanism by which liver dysfunction results in raised ADMA concentrations is probably due to impaired activity of DDAH due to severe inflammation,oxidative stress,and direct damage to DDAH.High plasma ADMA levels are also relevant as they are associated with the onset of multiorgan failure(MOF).Increased plasma concentration of ADMA was identified as an independent risk factor for MOF in critically-ill patients causing enhanced Intensive Care Unit mortality:a significant reduction in nitric oxide synthesis,leading to malperfusion in various organs,eventually culminating in multi organs dysfunction.Andrea Ferrigno Laura G Di Pasqua Clarissa Berardo Plinio Richelmi Mariapia Vairetti 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,17:2
6Development of a BIM-based holonic system for real-time monitoring of building operational efficiency显示文摘In the wide context of facility management,several processes,such as operations,maintenance,retrofitting,and renovations,ensure that buildings comply with the principles of efficiency,cost-effectiveness,and indoor comfort.Apart from ordinary operation,facility management is responsible for the renovation of and long-term performance improvement of building facilities.In such a scenario,the cyber–physical system(CPS)paradigm with holonic architecture,which is the focus of this study,can successfully guide the operation management and long-term refurbishment processes of buildings.Analogous to the manufacturing field,the developed CPS maximizes holons’self-configuration and self-organization and overall throughput effectiveness metrics to detect the best corrective actions toward system improvements.Consequently,suggestions and lessons learned from the evaluation of building efficiency are redirected to the building information model.Hence,the digital model acts as a repository of currently available equipment for operations management and the history of diagnoses that support decision-making during the maintenance,retrofitting,and renovation processes.Evidently,the repeated detection of a specific issue,which is unaffected by operations management,should be considered an opportunity to act and enhance the performances of existing building components.Similar to a goods-producing industry,the building management system developed in this study applies the aforementioned methodology to provide services related to indoor comfort and building health.This approach indicates that a method for automatic real-time diagnosis is tested in a case study consisting of a multi-use and large public building.The current paper,which is an extended version of the one presented in the Creative Construction Conference 2018,deepens the decision support tool and the supervision policy.Moreover,the developed system is contextualized by providing an example of use case and highlighting the step forward in the field of smart buildings.Alessandro CARBONARI Leonardo MESSI Berardo NATICCHIA Massimo VACCARINI Massimiliano PIRANI 2020Frontiers of Engineering Management2020,7,1:2
