Lagrangian-Eulerian simulation of slugging fluidized bed显示文摘This work studies gas-solid slugging fluidized beds with Type-D particles, using two-dimensional sim- ulations based on discrete element model (DEM). DEM performance is quantitatively validated by two commonly accepted correlations for determining slugging behavior. The voidage profiles simulated with bed height corresponding to Baeyens and Geldart (1974) correlation for onset of slugging demonstrate a transitional flow pattern from free bubbling to slugging. The present calculated values for the maximum slugging bed height are in good agreement with the correlation from Matsen et al. (1969). Simulations show that fluidized beds with Type-D particles can operate in the round-nosed slugging regime and also shows that wall slugs and square-nosed slugs tend to be formed with increase in superficial gas velocity and in bed height, respectively. | Guorong Wu Jie Ouyang Binxin Yang Qiang Li Fang Wang | 2012 | Particuology2012,10,1: | 2
A Comprehensive Review of Security-constrained Unit Commitment显示文摘Security-constrained unit commitment(SCUC)has been extensively studied as a key decision-making tool to determine optimal power generation schedules in the operation of electricity market. With the development of emerging power grids, fruitful research results on SCUC have been obtained. Therefore,it is essential to review current work and propose future directions for SCUC to meet the needs of developing power systems. In this paper, the basic mathematical model of the standard SCUC is summarized, and the characteristics and application scopes of common solution algorithms are presented.Customized models focusing on diverse mathematical properties are then categorized and the corresponding solving methodologies are discussed. Finally, research trends in the field are prospected based on a summary of the state-of-the-art and latest studies. It is hoped that this paper can be a useful reference to support theoretical research and practical applications of SCUC in the future. | Nan Yang Zhenqiang Dong Lei Wu Lei Zhang Xun Shen Daojun Chen Binxin Zhu Yikui Liu | 2022 | Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2022,10,3: | 2

Snake robots play an important role in social services and military needs显示文摘Intelligent robotic systems have gradually penetrated into the fields of social services and military reconnaissance with the rapid economic development.Snake robots,as multi-redundant bionic robots, play an indispensable and important role in public life and military needs.1 These robots have been widely favored and highly regarded by the academia and industry because of 1)their small size and flexibility, thereby easily entering small spaces for work,2)their ability to carry a variety of equipment for disaster rescue and military reconnaissance, and 3)their variety of movement modes, which can adapt to various complex terrain environments. | Dongfang Li Binxin Zhang Yang Xiu Hongbin Deng Miaomiao Zhang Wei Tong Rob Law Guangyu Zhu Edmond Q.Wu Limin Zhu | 2022 | The Innovation2022,3,6: | 1
An engineered lamellar bone mimicking full-scale hierarchical architecture for bone regeneration显示文摘Lamellar bone, compactly and ingeniously organized in the hierarchical pattern with 6 ordered scales,is the structural motif of mature bone. Each hierarchical scale exerts an essential role in determining physiological behavior and osteogenic bioactivity of bone.Engineering lamellar bone with full-scale hierarchy remains a longstanding challenge.Herein, using bioskiving and mineralization,we attempt to engineer compact constructs resembling full-scale hierarchy of lamellar bone.Through systematically investigating the effect of mineralization on physicochemical properties and bioactivities of multi-sheeted collagen matrix fabricated by bioskiving, the hierarchical mimicry and hierarchy-property relationship are elucidated. With prolongation of mineralization, hierarchical mimicry and osteogenic bioactivity of constructs are performed in a bidirectional manner,i.e.first rising and then descending, which is supposed to be related with transformation of mineralization mechanism from nonclassical to classical crystallization.Construct mineralized 9 days can accurately mimic each hierarchical scale and efficiently promote osteogenesis.Bioinformatic analysis further reveals that this construct potently activates integrinα5-PI3K/AKT signaling pathway through mechanical and biophysical cues, and thereby repairing critical-sized bone defect. The present study provides a bioinspired strategy for completely resembling complex hierarchy of compact mineralized tissue, and offers a critical research model for in-depth studying the structure-function relationship of bone. | Tao Yang Zhichao Hao Zhenzhen Wu Binxin Xu Jiangchen Liu Le Fan Qinmei Wang Yanshan Li Dongying Li Sangzhu Tang Chuanzi Liu Weichang Li Wei Teng | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,9: | 1
Comparative analysis of volatile compounds in different muskmelon cultivars in Xinjiang based on HS-SPME-GC-MS and transcriptomics显示文摘Volatile flavor has prompted a great amount of influence in acceptance and view points in fruit products.Melon(Pyrus communis)is an aromadense fruit, thus, the evaluation of volatile flavor is crucial to melon-breeding.The volatile compounds present in nine varieties of Xinjiang muskmelons were identified and analyzed using the headspace solid-phase microextraction and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry methods. In addition, transcriptomics were used to discover the differential genes in fatty acid degradation pathways. It was found that a total of 170 volatile substances, including 52 alcohols,41 esters,24 aldehydes,32 ketones,14 acids and seven phenols, were identified in the nine melons. Results of PCA showed that 3-nonanol,2-nonanol,bis(2-ethylhexyl)adipate,and 2-methylpropanal contributed more to the flavor of melon. It was verified that high activities of acyl-coenzyme A cholesterol acyltransferase(AAT)promoted the conversion of alcohols to esters,so that the melons have a high content of esters.Four genes of long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase were mainly responsible for the large difference in volatile substances. This practice may further undermine the primary rationale for the breeding and promotion in different cultivars of muskmelon. | Yingying Fan Binxin Jia Xiaoqian Cao Jun Yang Xiaolong Li Weizhong He Fengjuan Liu Cheng Wang | 2023 | Food Innovation and Advances2023,2,3: | 0
The relationship between sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition cluster and long-term mortality in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis显示文摘Aim:Sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition represent common debilitating conditions in the context of cirrhosis, linked to a variety of dismal outcomes. We aimed to clarify their overlap and cumulative impact on long-term mortality in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis. Methods:Consecutive patients with cirrhosis were prospectively recruited from January 2018 to December 2020.The diagnosis of sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition was standardized according to the consensus definition and our well-documented criteria. The prevalence of the respective debilitating condition and the concurrence of this comorbidity were calculated. Results:In total,253 patients with cirrhosis aged 64 years with a female predominance(52.4%)were recruited.Sarcopenia was present in 20.9%(53/253),multidimensional frailty in 12.6%(32/253),and malnutrition in 44.7%(113/253)of the entire cohort.Approximately half of the patients had at least one debilitating condition(127/253).Sarcopenia and malnutrition co-existed in 33 nonfrail patients(13.0%)and multidimensional frailty and malnutrition in eight nonsarcopenic patients(3.2%).Fifteen(5.9%)subjects had all three debilitating conditions, namely malnutrition, sarcopenia, and frailty(MSF)group. The proportions of males, infections, and ascites were significantly higher in the MSF group.Patients in the MSF group had the highest levels of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and creatinine. The 2-year mortality rates in patients with three debilitating conditions, two conditions, one condition, and no conditions were 60.0%,23.8%,21.4%,and 13.5%,respectively.Multivariate Cox regression indicated the long-term mortality risk was approximately four-fold higher among patients in the MSF group compared to those with no conditions. Conclusions:A fraction of patients with cirrhosis exhibited comorbidities of sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition, linked to a higher risk of long-term mortality. | Gaoyue Guo Han Wang Wanting Yang Chaoqun Li Xingliang Zhao Xiaofei Fan Yangyang Hui Binxin Cui Xiaoyu Wang Xuqian Zhang Kui Jiang Chao Sun | 2023 | Portal Hypertension & Cirrhosis2023,2,2: | 0
Sarcopenic obesity in liver disease: Handling both sides of the penny显示文摘Skeletal muscle and fat tissue show distinct pathophysiological roles and pivotal functions. The culmination of muscle wasting and fat accumulation represents an opposite terminal of each state.Specifically, this situation has been designated as sarcopenic obesity. However, sarcopenic obesity still lacks a unanimous definition, diagnostic criteria, and generalized modalities for assessment in the context of versatile liver diseases. Moreover, the underpinning mechanisms by which a combination of abnormal skeletal muscle and fat tissue leads to the progression of liver disease and impairs health‐related consequences are still elusive.Additionally, the interplay between skeletal muscle and fat,and the driving factors that shift different body compositions are not well understood. Therefore,in this review,we discuss skeletal muscle and fat components, with the purpose of conceptualization,as well as interpret their roles in liver diseases. We focus on the definitions, diagnostic criteria, and currently available measurements for sarcopenic obesity in the literature. We comprehensively discuss recent data and evidence regarding the potential role of sarcopenic obesity in the development and progression of numerous liver diseases and associated conditions, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver transplantation.Furthermore, explicit information related to the pathogenesis of sarcopenic obesity from basic research is also provided in this narrative review. Finally,we discuss, from the clinical perspective of view, how to manage sarcopenic obesity using nutritional, physical, and pharmacological methods. | Yangyang Hui Binxin Cui Xiaoyu Wang Mingyu Sun Yifan Li Wanting Yang Gaoyue Guo Lihong Mao Zihan Yu Xiaofei Fan Chao Sun | 2022 | Portal Hypertension & Cirrhosis2022,1,1: | 0
Dissecting the Contributing Role of Divergent Adipose Tissue to Multidimensional Frailty in Cirrhosis显示文摘Background and Aims:Emerging evidence has demonstrated that abnormal body composition may potentiate the development of frailty, whereas little work focuses on the role of divergent adipose tissue. Therefore,we aimed to determine the potential contribution of adipose tissue distribution to multidimensional frailty in decompensated cirrhosis. Methods:We conducted a retrospective cohort study.Divergent adipose tissues were assessed by computed tomography-derived subcutaneous adipose tissue index(SATI),visceral adipose tissue index(VATI)and total adipose tissue index(TATI),respectively.Frailty was identified by our validated self-reported Frailty Index.Multiple binary logistic models incorporating different covariates were established to assess the relationship between adipose tissue distribution and frailty. Results:The study cohort comprised 245 cirrhotic patients with 45.3%being male. The median Frailty Index, body mass index(BMI)and model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score were 0.11,24.3 kg/m2 and 8.9 points, respectively. In both men and women, patients who were frail exhibited lower levels of SATI in comparison with nonfrail patients.SATI inversely correlated with Frailty Index in the entire cohort(rs=−0.1361,p=0.0332).Furthermore,SATI or TATI was independently associated with frail phenotype in several multiple logistic regression models adjusting for age,BMI,presence of ascites,sodium,Child-Pugh class or MELD score in isolation. Conclusions:In the context of decompensated cirrhosis, low SATI and concomitant TATI were associated with higher risk of being frail. These findings highlight the importance to further apply tissue-specific tools of body composition in place of crude metric like BMI. | Lihong Mao Chaoqun Li Xiaoyu Wang Mingyu Sun Yifan Li Zihan Yu Binxin Cui Gaoyue Guo Wanting Yang Yangyang Hui Xiaofei Fan Jie Zhang Kui Jiang Chao Sun | 2023 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2023,11,1: | 0
