| 1 | Heavy Metal Transfer from Soil to Vegetable in Southern Jiangsu Province, China显示文摘Vegetable fields in peri-urban areas receive large amounts of extraneous heavy metals because of rapid urbanization and industrialization in China. The concentrations of Cu, Zn, and Pb in 30 soil samples and 32 vegetable samples, collected from 30 different sites in southern Jiangsu Province of China, were measured and their transfer from soil to vegetable was determined. The results showed that the soil samples had wide ranges of pH (4.25–7.85) and electrical conductivity (EC) (0.24–3.42 dS m-1). Among the soil samples, there were four soil samples containing higher Cu and two soil samples containing higher Zn concentrations than those specified in the Chinese Soil Environmental Quality Standard II. However, no vegetable sample was found to contain a high level of Cu or Zn. In contrast, one vegetable sample contained 0.243 mg Pb kg-1 FW, which was above the Chinese Food Hygiene Standard, whereas the corresponding soil Pb concentration was lower than the Chinese Soil Environmental Quality Standard II. The transfer coefficients of Cu of all vegetable samples exceeded the suggested coefficient range, implying that extraneous Cu had high mobility and bioavailability to vegetables. There was no significant correlation between extractable soil heavy metal concentrations with four kinds of extractants and soil pH, EC, heavy metal concentrations in vegetables and soils, except that soil pH correlated well with the extractable soil Cu, Zn, and Pb concentrations with 1.0 mol L-1 NH4NO3. | 6 | Novel method for improving iron recovery from electric arc furnace slag: on-site hot modification显示文摘The iron element in electric arc furnace(EAF)slag is extremely difficult to recycle due to the low specific magnetic susceptibility of the RO phase(a solid solution of FeO,MgO,CaO,and MnO).Landfilling EAF slag is strictly forbidden for environmental consideration because of poisonous Cr^(6+) leaching.The original RO phase could be transformed to a spinel structure,whose specific magnetic susceptibility is much higher than that of other minerals,through hot modification,resulting in significantly increased iron recovery by magnetic separation.Precipitation of spinel crystals encloses chromium,such that iron and chromium could be recovered simultaneously.The chromium in obtained iron concentrates is considerably useful for stainless steel making rather than polluting the environment.As a result,recovering iron and chromium is truly beneficial for cleaner production.Hot modification of EAF slag should be conducted at 1500-1600ºC for at least 60 min to guarantee homogeneous liquid slag.The liquid slag was poured onto an iron mold to obtain modified slag(MS)through air quenching.MS was characterized by thermodynamic analysis,X-ray diffraction,and scanning electron microscopy combined with energy-dispersive spectroscopy to correlate the relationship between mineral structures and iron recovery.The iron recovery rate of MS first increased and then decreased with increasing modifier.It was less than 10%when the modifier addition amount was below 12 wt.%,but it increased rapidly as the modifier addition amount increased from 16 to 24 wt.%,mainly due to spinel formation.The highest iron recovery rate was 81.9%when the modifier amount reached 20 wt.%.Meanwhile,Cr^(6+) was enriched in the spinel phase but was not observed in other minerals.Industrial tests were performed on-site with the modifier ranging from 12 to 18 wt.%because additional heat was not provided during the tests.Results showed that MS with 18 wt.%modifier addition exhibited an iron recovery rate of 61.0%,much higher than that(34.6%)of the original slag. | Xiang Lu Xiao-li Huang Ru-fei Wei Wen Chen Da-qiang Cang Fei-hua Yang Chun-lei Pu | 2022 | Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2022,29,8: | 1 |

| 10 | Particle Measurement Sensor for in situ determination of phase structure of fluidized bed显示文摘Based on three-dimensional (3D) acceleration sensing, an intelligent particle spy capable of detecting, transferring, and storing data, is proposed under the name of Particle Measurement Sensor (PMS). A prototype 60-mm-dia PMS was tested to track its freefall in terms of velocity and displacement, and served as a particle spy in a fluidized bed delivering the in situ acceleration information it detects. With increasing superficial gas velocity in the fluidized bed, the acceleration felt by PMS was observed to increase. The variance of the signals, which reflect the fluctuation, increased at first, reaching a maximum at the gas velocity (Uc) which marks the transition from bubbling to turbulent fluidization. Through probability density distribution (PDD) analysis, the PDD peak can be divided into the emulsion phase peak and the bubble phase peak. The average acceleration of emulsion and bubble phase increased, while the variance of both phases reached a maximum at Uc, at the same time. However, the difference between the variances of two phases reached the maximum at Uc. Findings of this study indicate that PMS can record independent in situ information. The optimum dosage of 70% Thiamethoxam ZF was 450 g/hm^2( effective ingredients 315 g). 70% Thiamethoxam ZF( dosage per hm^2) mixed with the regular fertilizer( dosage per hm^2) should be applied together in sugarcane planting and management from February to June. The control effects against C. lanigera and B. serratus were above 98. 4% and 82. 9% respectively. The actual yield and sugar content were increased by more than 34290 kg/hm^2 and 6. 8% respectively compared to blank control.
