| 1 | Pre-peak on the structure factor of liquid hypoeutectic Al-Fe alloy显示文摘Using a θ-θ X ray diffractometer the structure of liquid hypoeutectic Al Fe alloy at 675℃ and its change with different thermal histories are investigated . Liquid Al is used as a reference system. It is found that a pre peak appears on the small angle part of the structure factor of the nonsuperheated hypoeutectic Al Fe alloy, but disappears after superheating whereas the structure factors of liquid Al hardly change with the different thermal histories, and no pre peak can be observed on them. The appearance of a pre peak is a mark of the intermediate range order (IRO). The pre peak is taken as the correlation between Fe atoms on the IRO length scale. Assume that the crystalline structure is the first order approximation of the liquid structure. A model structure is constructed. The basic unit is a cube formed by 8 Al atoms on its corner and one Fe atom occupying its center. The translation of such a unit along its fourbody diagonals by the length of a diagonal can meet the requirement of the Fe_Fe distance and gives a DO 3 like structure. If the vacancy among the units is filled with fcc like Al cells, the composition of the entity is about Al 7Fe, close to that of the metastable phase Al 6Fe from rapid solidification. | 2 | Penetration of sandwich plates with hybrid-cores under oblique ballistic impact显示文摘The oblique penetration performance of lightweight hybrid-cored sandwich plates are investigated numerically. To compose the hybrid-core, ceramic prisms are inserted into pyramidal metal lattice trusses and fixed using epoxy resin. Three-dimensional finite element simulations are carried out for the hybridcored sandwich impacted at 15°, 30°, 45°, and 60°obliquity by a hemispherical projectile. The ballistic limit, the energy absorbed by the constituting elements,and the critical oblique angle are quantified. The physical mechanisms underlying the failure and the influence of fundamental system parameters are explored.The angle of obliquity is found to have significant influence on the ballistic trajectory and erosion of the projectile, thus it is important for the impact response and penetration resistance of the sandwich. | 3 | Dynamic response of ultralight all-metallic sandwich panel with 3D tube cellular core to shallow-buried explosives显示文摘The underbody of a vehicle system, either military or civil, is typically made of a relatively thin metallic plate, thus vulnerable to mine blast attacks. To improve the blast resistance, a multitude of protective structures have been proposed as attachments to the thin plate. In the present study, a novel ultralight all-metallic sandwich panel with three-dimensional(3D) tube cellular cores mounted to the vehicle underbody was envisioned as such a protective system. A metallic substrate(mimicking vehicle bottom)was placed above the proposed sandwich panel to construct a sandwich-substrate combinative structure. A series of sandwich panels having 3D tube cellular cores were fabricated via argon protected welding and laser welding. Mechanical responses of the combinative structure subjected to the denotation of 6 kg TNT explosives shallow-buried in dry sand were experimentally measured. Full numerical simulations with the method of finite elements(FE) were subsequently carried out to explore the physical mechanisms underlying the observed dynamic performance and quantify the effects of key geometrical parameters and connection conditions of the protective system. The performance of the proposed sandwich panel under shallow-buried explosives was also compared with competing sandwich constructions having equal mass. | 17 | Long-term adaptive evolution of Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 for establishment of high concentration Cr(Ⅵ) tolerance显示文摘Acclimation is the main method to enhance the productivity of microorganisms in environmental biotechnology,but it remains uncertain how microorganisms acquire resistance to high concentrations of pollutants during long-term acclimation.Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 was acclimated for 120 days with increasing hexavalent chromium(Cr(VI))concentrations from 10 to 190 mg/L.The bacterium was able to survive from the highly toxic Cr(VI)environment due to its enhanced capability to reduce Cr(VI)and the increased cell membrane surface.We sequenced 19 complete genomes from 7 populations of MR-1,including the ancestral strain,the evolved strains in Cr(VI)environment on days 40,80 and 120 and their corresponding controls.A total of 27,49 and 90 single nucleotide polymorphisms were found in the Cr(VI)-evolved populations on days 40,80 and 120,respectively.Nonsynonymous substitutions were clustered according to gene functions,and the gene mutations related to integral components of the membrane,including efflux pumps and transporters,were the key determinants of chromate resistance.In addition,MR-1 strengthened the detoxification of Cr(VI)through gene variations involved in adenosine triphosphate binding,electron carrier activity,signal transduction and DNA repair.Our results provide an in-depth analysis of how Cr(VI)resistance of 5.oneidensis MR-1 is improved by acclimation,as well as a genetic understanding of the impact of longterm exposure of microorganisms to pollution. | Yong Xiao Changye Xiao Feng Zhao | 2020 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2020,14,1: | 1 |
