1Draining Tangjiashan Barrier Lake after Wenchuan Earthquake and the flood propagation after the dam break显示文摘Tangjiashan Barrier Lake is one of the largest barrier lakes caused by the Wenchuan Earthquake. Its risk analysis, emergency plan and effect of the emergency plan are introduced in this paper. The dam height of Tangjiashan Barrier Dam is about 105 m, and the reservoir storage capacity is 3.2×108 m3. When the dam broke the flood peak were estimated to be larger than 48000 m3/s, which might cause a enormous disaster to the downstream cities and residents. A discharge channel with 13 m deep and 8 m wide was drug, so that the water may flow out of the lake before the dam breaks. As a result, the drainage and risk mitigation project are successful. During the drainage process, the flood peak was about 6500 m3/s, and about 1.6×108 m3 of water was drained off and the residual reservoir capacity was only 8.97×107 m3. A new channel with average width 100 m was formed, which can bear floods of 200 years frequency. The successful experience and the collected data can be used to deal with the similar natural disasters in future.LIU Ning1, ZHANG JianXin2, LIN Wei3, CHENG WuYI4 & CHEN ZuYu5 1 Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China, Beijing 100053, China 2 Bureau of Hydrology of the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China, Beijing 100053, China 3 Sichuan Hydrographic and Water Resources Survey Bureau Chengdu 610031, China 4 HydroChina Chengdu Engineering Corporation, Chengdu 610072, China 5 China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, Beijing 100044, China 2009Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,4:29
2Modelling of multi-bodies in close proximity under water waves——Fluid resonance in narrow gaps显示文摘Viscous fluid model and potential flow model with and without artificial damping force(f=-μV,μ the damping coefficient and V the local averaging flow velocity) are employed in this work to investigate the phenomenon of fluid resonance in narrow gaps between multi-bodies in close proximity under water waves. The numerical results are compared with experimental data available in the literature. The comparison demonstrates that both the viscous fluid model and the potential flow model are able to predict the resonant frequency reasonably well. However the conventional potential flow model(without artificial damping term) significantly over-predicts the wave height in narrow gaps around the resonant frequency. In order to calibrate the appropriate damping coefficient used for the potential model and make it work as well as the viscous fluid model in predicting the resonant wave height in narrow gaps but with little computational efforts, the dependence of damping coefficient μ on the body geometric dimensions is examined considering the parameters of gap width Bg,body draft D,body breadth ratio Br and body number n(n = 2,3),where Br = BB/BA for the case of two bodies(Body A and Body B) with different breadths of BA and BB,respectively. It was confirmed that the damping coefficient used for the potential flow model is not sensitive to the geometric dimensions and spatial arrangement. It was found that μ∈ [0.4,0.5] may guarantee the variation of Hg/H0 with kh to be generally in good agreement with the experimental data and the results of viscous fluid model, where Hg is the excited wave height in narrow gaps under various dimensionless incident wave frequencies kh,H0 is the incident wave height,k = 2π/L is the wave number and h is the water depth.LU Lin1,2,TENG Bin3,CHENG Liang 4,SUN Liang5 & CHEN XiaoBo6 1 Center for Deepwater Engineering,Dalian University of Technology,Dalian 116024,China 2 State Key Laboratory of Structural Analysis for Industrial Equipment,Dalian University of Technology,Dalian 116024,China 3 State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering,Dalian University of Technology,Dalian 116024,China 4 School of Civil and Resource Engineering,The University of Western Australia,Crawly 6003,Australia 5 Centre for Offshore Research and Engineering,Department of Civil Engineering,National University of Singapore,117576,Singapore 6 Research Department,Bureau Veritas,Neuilly-Sur-Seine,92570,France 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,1:29
3A systematic investigation of high harmonic generation using mid-infrared driving laser pulses显示文摘We report on a systematic investigation of the influences of gas pressure, focal position and focusing geometry on high harmonic generation by use of mid-infrared femtosecond laser pulses. We also discuss the spatial characteristics of harmonics under different focusing conditions. By optimizing the parameters,we experimentally observed the generation of 1 kHz,low divergence coherent X-ray beams in the water-window region.YAO JinPing 1,2 ,XIONG Hui 1 ,XU Han 1 ,FU YuXi 1,2 ,ZENG Bin 1,2 ,CHU Wei 1,2 ,CHENG Ya 1 ,XU ZhiZhan 1 ,LIU XiaoJun 3 & CHEN Jing 4,5 1 State Key Laboratory of High Field Laser Physics,Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Shanghai 201800,China 2 Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100049,China 3 State Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance and Atomic and Molecular Physics,Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Wuhan 430071,China 4 Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics,Beijing 100088,China 5 Center for Applied Physics and Technology,Peking University,Beijing 100084,China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,6:3
4Prediction analysis of long-term memory effect for calamity gray series显示文摘It is adequate to use the gray theory for modeling and forecasting short-term calamity series. The forecast of calamity gray series is equivalent to predicting an extraordinary event in nature. In order to look for the regularity, the calamity date series, created from the threshold for a fixed time-interval series, are studied. In this paper, the Hurst exponent is applied to defining the long-term memory effect of the simulated calamity series, and is tested for the feasibility of using it as pre-requisite information before the gray modeling and forecasting. Based on the fractional Brownian motion (fBm) model, the time series with a definite length or quantity of data are derived assuming that various kinds of memory effect exist. Different threshold values are defined to yield or to analogize the calamity date series that are required in the prediction of the gray calamity events. After case study, both of the simulated and real seismic data show that the Hurst exponents are greater than 0.5 and, therefore, indicate that the long-term memory ef-fect exists. The correlation between the Hurst exponent and the gray modeling parameter, a, provides criteria for the classification of the forecast.CHEN Zhaonan (CHEN Chaonan)1 & LI Zongyang (LEE Tzongyeang)2 1. 9Cedar Pollen and Cedar Pollinosi显示文摘Objective To investigate the prevalence of cedar pollinosis in China, and compare Cryptomeria fortunei(Cf) with Cryptomeria japonica (Cj) morphologically. Methods\ An epidemiological survey on nasal allergy was carried out among 1 660 primary and middle school students and 1 620 university students, including questionnaire investigation, nasal inspection by the same doctor and scratch test with the allergen extract of Cj. The pollen of Cf and Cj were observed by optical and electron microscope. The genes of chloroplast of them were analysed. Results ①The total positive rate of cedar pollen scratch test was 4.2%. 55 cases of nasal allergy were confirmed according to the criteria of diagnosis, in which 8 cases showed positive reaction to Cj and only 1 case was hypersentive to it. ②No significant distinction between Cf and Cj was found by optical and electron microscope and no difference in gene analysis was found. Conclusion\ ①Cedar pollinosis does exist in China. It′s low prevbalence is related to the low quantity of cedar pollen.②Cf and Cj are of the same family and genus. ③There may be an increasing tendency of cedar pollinosis in China.\;Yin Min(殷 敏) Cheng Lei(程 雷) Akira Miyoshi 1 Peng Jieren(彭解人) 2 Chen Zhibin(陈智斌)\ Shi Haibo(时海波)\ T Sambe 3\ Y Taguchi 4\ N Sahashi 5 Department of Otolaryngology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nangjing Medical University, Nanj 2000Journal of Nanjing Medical University2000,14,1:1
