1Middle segmental pancreatectomy: A safe and organ-preserving option for benign and low-grade malignant lesions显示文摘AIM: To study the feasibility and safety of middle segmental pancreatectomy (MSP) compared with pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) and extended distal pancreatectomy (EDP). METHODS: We studied retrospectively 36 cases that underwent MSP, 44 patients who underwent PD, and 26 who underwent EDP with benign or low-grade malignant lesions in the mid-portion of the pancreas, between April 2003 and December 2009 in Ruijin Hospital. The perioperative outcomes and long-term outcomes of MSP were compared with those of EDP and PD. Periop-erative outcomes included operative time, intraoperative hemorrhage, transfusion, pancreatic fistula, intraabdominal abscess/infection, postoperative bleeding, reoperation, mortality, and postoperative hospital time. Long-term outcomes, including tumor recurrence, newonset diabetes mellitus (DM), and pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, were evaluated. RESULTS: Intraoperative hemorrhage was 316.1 ± 309.6, 852.2 ± 877.8 and 526.9 ± 414.5 mL for the MSP, PD and EDP groups, respectively (P < 0.05). The mean postoperative daily fasting blood glucose level was significantly lower in the MSP group than in the EDP group (6.3 ± 1.5 mmol/L vs 7.3 ± 1.5 mmol/L, P < 0.05). The rate of pancreatic fistula was higher in the MSP group than in the PD group (42% vs 20.5%, P = 0.039), all of the fistulas after MSP corresponded to grade A (9/15) or B (6/15) and were sealed following conservative treatment. There was no significant difference in the mean postoperative hospital stay between the MSP group and the other two groups. After a mean follow-up of 44 mo, no tumor recurrences were found, only one patient (2.8%) in the MSP group vs five (21.7%) in the EDP group developed new-onset insulin-dependent DM postoperatively (P = 0.029). Moreover, significantly fewer patients in the MSP group than in the PD (0% vs 33.3%, P < 0.001) and EDP (0% vs 21.7%, P = 0.007) required enzyme substitution. 2Preparation and Characterization of High-Strength Geopolymer Based on BH-1 Lunar Soil Simulant with Low Alkali Content显示文摘The construction of a lunar base and habitation on the Moon has always been on researchers’minds.Building materials used in in situ lunar resources are of great significance for saving expensive space freight.In this study,a new type of lunar soil simulant named Beihang(BH)-1 was developed.The chemical mineral composition and microstructure of BH-1 closely resemble those of real lunar soil,as verified by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy(XRF),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and reflectance spectra.This research also synthesized a geopolymer based on BH-1 cured at simulated lunar atmospheric conditions.We also investigated the effect of supplementing aluminum(Al)sources on the enhancement of geopolymer strength based on BH-1.The rheological behavior of alkali-activated BH-1 pastes was determined for workability.XRF,XRD,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,SEM coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy,and 27Al magic angle spinningnuclear magnetic resonance were used to characterize resulting geopolymers.Rheological test findings showed that the rheology of BH-1 pastes fits the Herschel–Bulkley model,and they behaved like a shear-thinning fluid.The results showed that the 28-day compressive strength of the BH-1 geopolymer was improved by up to 100.8%.Meanwhile,the weight of additives required to produce per unit strength decreased,significantly reducing the mass of materials transported from the Earth for the construction of lunar infrastructure and saving space transportation costs.Microscopic analyses showed that the mechanism to improve the mechanical properties of the BH-1 geopolymer by adding an additional Al source enhances the replacement of silicon atoms by Al atoms in the silicon–oxygen group and generates a more complete and dense amorphous gel structure.Siqi Zhou Chenghong Lu Xingyi Zhu Feng Li 2021Engineering2021,7,11:6
3Synthesis and characterization of geopolymer from lunar regolith simulant based on natural volcanic scoria显示文摘In this study,a new GVS(Ground Volcanic Scoria)lunar regolith simulant was produced.The similarity between GVS and lunar soil was proved by comparison with Apollo lunar soil samples and other commercial lunar soil simulants.Then,GVS lunar regolith simulant was investigated as the source material for preparing geopolymer to produce building material for lunar colony construction.To study the possibility of preparing geopolymer from GVS lunar regolith simulant and the optimum activator formulation as well as the optimum curing conditions,alkaline activated GVS slurries with different mixing ratios based on an orthogonal test scheme were prepared.The geopolymer products based on GVS were characterized by flexural strength test,compressive strength test,X-ray fluorescence(XRF),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR),Scanning Electron Microscope coupled with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(SEM-EDS),29Si magic angle spinning-nuclear magnetic resonance(29Si MAS-NMR),and 27Al MAS-NMR.The experimental results indicate that changes in the mass ratio of sodium hydroxide and GVS and curing temperature have the most significant influence on the flexural strength and compressive strength,respectively.The GVS-based geopolymer can obtain the highest 28-day compressive strength and 28-day flexural strength up to 75.6 MPa and 6.3 MPa.Microstructural results imply that the changes of Si occurring in a variety of environments that explaining preliminarily about the reaction mechanism of GVS-based geopolymer.This study approves the feasibility of making a geopolymer derived from the GVS lunar regolith simulant and the potential utilization of geopolymer based on lunar regolith for construction of the lunar colony in future space exploration.Siqi ZHOU Xingyi ZHU Chenghong LU Feng LI 2022Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,1:6
4A comparative study of the characteristics of two Coxsackie A virus type 16 strains (genotype B)显示文摘Coxsackie A virus is one of the major pathogens associated with hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD). The etiological characteristics of Coxsackie A virus type 16 (CA16) are thought to correlate with the pathological process of its infection. Two CA16 strains that were isolated from a severe HFMD patient presented with different plaque forms. This observation, along with biological analysis, indicated that the differences in the strains' biological characteristics, such as proliferation kinetics and immunogenicity, correlate with differences in their pathogenicity toward neonatal mice. Furthermore, these differences are thought to be associated with the sequence of the 5′ non-coding region of the viral genome and the VP1 structural region sequence. 5Determination of the archaeal and bacterial communities in two-phase and single-stage anaerobic systems by 454 pyrosequencing显示文摘2-Phase anaerobic digestion(AD), where the acidogenic phase was operated at 2 day hydraulic retention time(HRT) and the methanogenic phase at 10 days HRT, had been evaluated to determine if it could provide higher organic reduction and methane production than the conventional single-stage AD(also operated at 12 days HRT). 454 pyrosequencing was performed to determine and compare the microbial communities. The acidogenic reactor of the 2-phase system yielded a unique bacterial community of the lowest richness and diversity, while bacterial profiles of the methanogenic reactor closely followed the single-stage reactor. All reactors were predominated by hydrogenotrophic methanogens, mainly Methanolinea. Unusually, the acidogenic reactor contributed up to 24%of total methane production in the 2-phase system. This could be explained by the presence of Methanosarcina and Methanobrevibacter, and their activities could also help regulate reactor alkalinity during high loading conditions through carbon dioxide production. The enrichment of hydrolytic and acidogenic Porphyromonadaceae, Prevotellaceae, Ruminococcaceae and unclassified Bacteroidetes in the acidogenic reactor would have contributed to the improved sludge volatile solids degradation, and ultimately the overall 2-phase system's performance. Syntrophic acetogenic microorganisms were absent in the acidogenic reactor but present in the downstream methanogenic reactor, indicating the retention of various metabolic pathways also found in a single-stage system. 6Economic optimization of smart distribution networks considering real-time pricing显示文摘With the development of smart meters,a realtime pricing(RTP)demand response is becoming possible for households in distribution networks.The power flow can be bidirectional in distribution networks which become smarter with distributed generators(DGs).It is expensive to import electricity from the generation far from load centers because of the cost of power loss and network use,so that it is more economical to use electricity generated by local distributed generators.Therefore,in order to curtail operating costs of distribution networks,this paper proposes a model of economic optimization conducted by distribution network operators.The electricity purchasing costs for distribution network operators are minimized by optimizing electric power from transmission systems and local distributed generators.Further,based on price elasticity,the formulations of load demand considering RTP are proposed with economic optimization of distribution networks.The economic optimization problems are resolved by an interior point method.The case study shows that peak load demand can be reduced about 3.5%because the household RTP and electricity purchasing costs of distribution network operators can save 28.86£every hour.Hong ZHANG Dongmei ZHAO Chenghong GU Furong LI Bo WANG 2014Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2014,2,4:5
7Transcriptional regulation of the Herpes Simplex Virus 1α-gene by the viral immediate-early protein ICP22 in association with VP16显示文摘Herpes Simplex Virus 1 (HSV1) is capable of inducing two forms of infection in individuals, and the establishment of which type of infection occurs is linked to the transcriptional activation of viral α genes. One of the HSV1 α genes, ICP22, is known to have multiple functions during virus replication, but its distinct roles are still unclear. This study showed that ICP22 functions as a general repressor for certain viral and cellular promoters, and this transcriptional repression by ICP22 is independent of the specific upstream promoter element, as shown using the CAT enzyme assay system. Further work also found that VP16 interfered with ICP22 mediated transcriptional repression of the viral α4 gene, through interactions with specific elements upstream of the α4 gene promoter. 8An integrated multi-energy flow calculation method for electricity-gas-thermal integrated energy systems显示文摘The modeling and multi-energy flow calculation of an integrated energy system (IES) are the bases of its operation and planning. This paper establishes the models of various energy sub-systems and the coupling equipment for an electricity-gas-thermal IES, and an integrated multi-energy flow calculation model of the IES is constructed. A simplified calculation method for the compressor model in a natural gas network, one which is not included in a loop and works in constant compression ratio mode, is also proposed based on the concept of model reduction. In addition, a numerical conversion method for dealing with the conflict between nominal value and per unit value in the multi-energy flow calculation of IES is described. 9Integrated traffic-power simulation framework for electric vehicle charging stations based on cellular automaton显示文摘This paper presents a novel integrated framework for simulating the charging load of an electric vehicle charging station. The framework is built based on the cellular automaton model, including five modules: vehicle generation, charging station, lane change, speed update and boundary clear. 10Robotic-assisted versus open total pancreatectomy: a propensity score-matched study显示文摘Background:Total pancreatectomy(TP)is a complex surgical procedure with significant postoperative morbidity.Despite the narrowed range of indications for TP,the introduction of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and the increasing complexity of surgical resections performed in high-volume centers has increased the number of annually performed TPs,especially regarding malignant disease.The introduction of robotic-assisted pancreatic surgery has provided a novel and minimally invasive approach for TP,yet the feasibility of this technique is still unknown.This study assessed the safety and efficacy of robotic-assisted total pancreatectomy(RTP)compared to conventional open total pancreatectomy(OTP).Methods:All patients who underwent TP between March 2015 and July 2019 in a high-volume institution for pancreatic surgery were included in this retrospective study.Clinical data and perioperative outcomes were derived from the prospectively maintained institutional database.A 1:1 propensity score matching(PSM)method was utilized to compare the RTP and OTP cohorts to minimize bias.Results:A standardized surgical protocol was utilized for RTP following a learning curve of RPD and RDP.The median operative time for patients who underwent RTP was significantly decreased compared to those who underwent OTP[300(IQR,250-360)vs.360 min(IQR,300-525),P=0.031].Additionally,en bloc resection and spleen-preserving rates were also higher in the RTP cohort.Major 30-day morbidity(Clavien-Dindo>IIIa)and 90-day mortality were similar between the two cohorts.After a median follow-up time of 15(IQR,8-24)months,both the RTP and OTP cohorts had a comparable quality of life regarding exocrine and endocrine insufficiency.Conclusions:RTP appears to be safe and feasible when utilized in high-volume centers for the indicated management of benign and highly selected malignant pancreatic disease.However,further prospective randomized studies are needed to assess the feasibility of this approach.Yuanchi Weng Mengmin Chen Georgios Gemenetzis Yusheng Shi Xiayang Ying Xiaxing Deng Chenghong Peng Jiabin Jin Baiyong Shen 2020Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2020,9,6:3
11Outcomes of robotic surgery for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma显示文摘Background:To explore the effectiveness,safety,and efficacy of the robot-assisted surgery in the radical resection of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC).Methods:The clinical data of 72 patients with PDAC who underwent radical resection using the da Vinci Surgical System from April 2010 to December 2014 were retrospectively analyzed.Results:Among these 72 patients,three were converted to conventional laparotomy due to the vascular invasion or due to the difficulties in tissue isolation from the surrounding organs.Among 39 patients who underwent the pancreatoduodenectomy,the average operative time was 395.3±118.8 min,and the mean intra-operative blood loss was 447.3±269.9 m L.Among 31 patients who underwent the distal pancreatectomy(DP),the average operative time was 185.5±74.1 min,and the mean intra-operative blood loss was 267.1±305.3 m L.In two patients who received the middle pancreatectomy(MP),the average operative time was 225 min and mean intra-operative blood loss was 100 m L.Among all the 72 patients,an average of 4.2±2.6 lymph nodes were dissected,with an average hospital stay of 22.6±10.7 days.Complications were observed in 18 patients,which included pancreatic fistula(n=11),bile leak(n=5),anastomotic bleeding(n=2),pancreatic fistula complicated with portal vein thrombosis(n=1),and anastomotic bleeding complicated with acute renal failure(n=1).Except that one patient died due to post-operative bleeding and acute renal failure,all the other patients were cured after conservative treatment.These 72 patients were followed for 1-45(15.6±5.8) months,during which 10 patients died.Eleven patients suffered from recurrence or metastasis,among which 6 had local recurrence,4 had liver metastasis,and 1 had ascites accompnaied with incision site tumor metastasis.Conclusions:Radical resection of PDAC by robotic surgical system is safe and feasible.It has less surgical trauma and enables faster post-operative recovery,and therefore can achieve the lymph node dissection scope and tumor resection margin required by the standards of radical resection for pancreatic cancer.Nevertheless,its long-term efficacy requires further validation.Qian Zhan Xiaxing Deng Yuanchi Weng Jiabin Jin Zhichong Wu Hongwei Li Baiyong Shen Chenghong Peng 2015Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2015,27,6:3
12Review of Operational Control Strategy for DC Microgrids with Electric-hydrogen Hybrid Storage Systems显示文摘Hydrogen production from renewable energy sources(RESs)is one of the effective ways to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutralization.In order to ensure the efficient,reliable and stable operation of the DC microgrid(MG)with an electric-hydrogen hybrid energy storage system(ESS),the operational constraints and static dynamic characteristics of a hydrogen energy storage system(HESS)needs to be fully considered.First,different hydrogen production systems,using water electrolysis are compared,and the modeling method of the electrolyzer is summarized.The operational control architecture of the DC MG with electric-hydrogen is analyzed.Combined with the working characteristics of the alkaline electrolyzer,the influence of hydrogen energy storage access on the operational mode of the DC MG is analyzed.The operational control strategies of the DC MG with electric-hydrogen hybrid ESS are classified and analyzed from four different aspects:static and dynamic characteristics of the hydrogen energy storage system,power distribution of the electric-hydrogen hybrid ESS and the efficiency optimization of hydrogen energy storage.Finally,the advantages of a modular hydrogen production system(HPS)are described,and the technical problems and research directions in the future are discussed.Wei Pei Xue Zhang Wei Deng Chenghong Tang Liangzhong Yao 2022CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2022,8,2:3
13Transmission Use of System Charging for Differentiating Long-term Impacts from Various Generation Technologies显示文摘This paper proposes a novel transmission use of system(TUoS)charging method,which is able to 1)acknowledge the trade-offs between short-run congestion cost and long-run investment cost when justifying economic network investment,2)identify the impacts of different generation technologies on congestion cost and network investment,and 3)translate these impacts into economically efficient TUoS tariffs that differentiate generation technologies.An incremental capacity change from a generator will impact the congestion costs at each branch,which is then translated into the impacts on investment time horizons.The difference in the present values with and without the incremental change for a branch is its long-run incremental cost(LRIC).The final TUoS tariff for this generator is the sum of all LRIC triggered by its capacity increment.The proposed method is demonstrated on a modified IEEE 14-bus system to show its effectiveness over the traditional approach.Results show that it can provide cost-reflective TUoS tariffs for different generation technologies at the same sites by examining their respective impacts on congestion and investment.It thus can incentivize appropriate generation expansion to reduce congestion costs and ultimately network investment cost.Jiangtao Li Chenghong Gu Rohit Bhakar Furong Li 2016CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2016,2,2:3
14Techno-economic analysis of MJ class high temperature Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage(SMES) systems applied to renewable power grids显示文摘High temperature Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage(SMES) systems can exchange energy with substantial renewable power grids in a small period of time with very high efficiency. Because of this distinctive feature, they store the abundant wind power when the power network is congested and release the energy back to the system when there is no congestion. However, considering the cost and lifespan of SMES systems, there is an urgent demand to conduct a cost-benefit analysis to justify its role in smart grid development. This study explores the application and performs economic analysis of a 5 MJ SMES in a practical renewable power system in China based on the PSCAD/EMTDC software. An optimal location of SMES in Zhangbei wind farm is presented using real power transmission parameters. The stabilities of the renewable power grid with and without SMES are discussed. In addition, a financial feasibility study is conducted by comparing the cost and the savings from wind power curtailment of deploying SMES and battery. The economic analysis tries to find the balance between SMES investment cost and wind farm operation cost by using real data over a calendar year. The technical analysis can help guide the optimal allocation of SMES for compensating power system instability with substantial wind power. 15Edge-cloud Computing Systems for Smart Grid: State-of-the-art, Architecture, and Applications显示文摘The quantity and heterogeneity of intelligent energy generation and consumption terminals in the smart grid are increasing drastically over the years.These edge devices have created significant pressures on cloud computing(CC)system and centralised control for data storage and processing in realtime operation and control.The integration of edge computing(EC)can effectively alleviate the pressure and conduct real-time processing while ensuring data security.This paper conducts an extensive review of the EC-CC computing system and its application to the smart grid,which will integrate a vast number of dispersed devices.It first comprehensively describes the relationship among CC,fog computing(FC),and EC to provide a theoretical basis for the differentiation.It then introduces the architecture of the EC-CC computing system in the smart grid,where the architecture consists of both hardware structure and software platforms,and key technologies are introduced to support functionalities.Thereafter,the application to the smart grid is discussed across the whole supply chain,including energy generation,transportation(transmission and distribution networks),and consumption.Finally,future research opportunities and challenges of EC-CC while being applied to the smart grid are outlined.This paper can inform future research and industrial exploitations of these new technologies to enable a highly efficient smart grid under decarbonisation,digitalisation,and decentralisation transitions.Junlong Li Chenghong Gu Yue Xiang Furong Li 2022Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2022,10,4:2
16Economic Dispatch of Smart Distribution Networks for Electricity Cost Reduction显示文摘Consumers' electricity cost keeps increasing over the time in most countries across the world. The main reason is that importing electricity from generation plants far from a load center is relatively expensive, as costs are paid not only for generation but also for energy loss and network use. To this end, it is more economical to use electricity generated by local distributed generations. In order to reduce customers' electricity cost, a new economic dispatch of smart distribution networks is proposed. Economic dispatch of smart distribution network is to meet load demand with the least consumers' electricity cost considering distributed generators, while recognizing all operational limits of generation and transmission facilities in a distribution network. Case study shows that consumers' electricity cost can be reduced by about 20% through economic dispatch of distribution network. 17Immediate-early gene product ICP22 inhibits the trans-transcription activating function of P53-mdm-2显示文摘As a product of HSVI immediate-early gene, ICP22 is capable of interacting with various cellular tran-scriptive and regulatory molecules during viral infection so as to impact the normal cellular molecular mechanism. ICP22 expressed in transfected cells can push the cells’ entering into S phase with binding to mdm-1 promoter region and impact its trans-transcription activating effect by P53. 18Application of quantum chemical descriptors into quantitative structure-property relationship models for prediction of the photolysis half-life of PCBs in water显示文摘Quantitative structure-property relationship(QSPR)models were developed for prediction of photolysis half-life(t_(1/2))of polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs)in water under ultraviolet(UV)radiation.Quantum chemical descriptors computed by the PM3 Hamiltonian software were used as independent variables.The cross-validated Q^(2)_(cum)value for the optimal QSPR model is 0.966,indicating good prediction capability for lg t_(1/2)values of PCBs in water.The QSPR results show that the largest negative atomic charge on a carbon atom(Q-C)and the standard heat of formation(ΔH_(f))have a dominant effect on t_(1/2)values of PCBs.Higher Q_(C)^(-)values or lowerΔHf values of the PCBs leads to higher lg t_(1/2)values.In addition,the lg t_(1/2)values of PCBs increase with the increase in the energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital values.Increasing the largest positive atomic charge on a chlorine atom and the most positive net atomic charge on a hydrogen atom in PCBs leads to the decrease of lg t_(1/2)values.Yueping BAO Qiuying HUANG Wenlong WANG Jiangjie XU Fan JIANG Chenghong FENG 2011Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2011,5,4:2
