1Activation of the bitter taste sensor TRPM5 prevents high saltinduced cardiovascular dysfunction显示文摘High salt intake is a known risk factor of cardiovascular diseases. Our recent study demonstrated that long-term high salt intake impairs transient receptor potential channel M5(TRPM5)-mediated aversion to high salt concentrations, consequently promoting high salt intake and hypertension;however, it remains unknown whether TRPM5 activation ameliorates cardiovascular dysfunction. Herein we found that bitter melon extract(BME) and cucurbitacin E(CuE), a major compound in BME, lowered high salt-induced hypertension. Long-term BME intake significantly enhanced the aversion to high salt concentrations by upregulating TRPM5 expression and function, eventually decreasing excessive salt consumption in mice. Moreover, dietary BME ameliorated high salt-induced cardiovascular dysfunction and angiotensin II-induced hypertension in vivo. The mechanistic evidence demonstrated that dietary BME inhibited high salt-induced RhoA/Rho kinase pathway overactivation, leading to reduced phosphorylation levels of myosin light chain kinase and myosin phosphatase targeting subunit 1. Furthermore, CuE inhibited vasoconstriction by attenuating L-type Ca^(2+) channel-induced Ca^(2+) influx in vascular smooth muscle cells. 2Replanting of broadleaved trees alters internal nutrient cycles of native and exotic pines in subtropical plantations of China显示文摘Background:The replanting of broadleaved trees in pure coniferous plantations is widely implemented,as mixed plantations are generally more stable and functional.However,the effect of interspecific interactions between broadleaved and coniferous trees on internal nutrient cycles of conifers remains unclear.Methods:We selected pure coniferous plantations of a native(Pinus massoniana)and an exotic(P.elliottii)pine species and their corresponding mixed plantations with broadleaved trees(Schima superba)in subtropical China,and measured the nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)contents in the rhizosphere soils,fine roots,twigs,needles and needle litter of pines.We calculated the root capture,needle resorption and translocation of N and P by pines to determine the mobility of nutrients in trees.Results:Although the N and P in the rhizosphere soils increased due to the replanting of broadleaved trees,the N and P contents in the aboveground tissues of the two pine species did not increase in mixed plantations.Mixed planting had a negative effect on the N and P capture of native pine and a positive effect on that of exotic pine.The N and P resorption efficiencies increased in native pine but were unchanged in exotic pine after the replanting of S.superba.Native pine preferentially employed an aboveground nutrient resorption strategy,whereas exotic pine tended to adopt a belowground nutrient capture strategy after replanting.Translocation of N and P in trees was detected,which reflected the trade-offs between root nutrient capture and needle nutrient resorption.Conclusions:The effect of mixed planting varied between the species of native and exotic pines,and the internal nutrient cycles of both pine species might be dominated by interspecific interaction effects on nutrients rather than soil nutrients.Our study highlights the importance of selecting suitable broadleaved species for replanting in coniferous plantations.Yong Lin Chengkang Xia Gaoyang Wu Fangchao Wang Shengnan Wang Yuanqiu Liu Fusheng Chen 2022Forest Ecosystems2022,9,5:2
3Promotive effect of multi-walled carbon nanotubes on Co_3O_4 nanosheets and their application in lithium-ion battery显示文摘Co3O4/MWCNTs composites have been synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method using a surfactant(CTAB) and a precipitation agent(urea). The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM and BET methods. The electrochemical properties of the samples as anode materials for lithium batteries were studied by EIS and Galvanostatic measurements. The Co3O4/MWCNTs composites displayed higher capacity and better cycle performance in comparison with the Co3O4 nanosheets. The remarkable improvement of electrochemical performance within the hybrid composites is probably related to the addition of MWCNTs that possesses improved properties such as excellent electric conductivity and large surface area, which helps to alleviate the effect of volume change, shorten the distance of lithium ion diffusion, facilitate the transmission of electron and keep the structure stable.Yan Liu Xiaogang Zhang Chengkang Chang Dongyun Zhang Ying Wu 2014Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2014,24,3:1

8Sufficiently diffused attachment of nitrogen arc by gasdynamic action显示文摘For realizing diffused anode attachment in pure nitrogen arcs, a special arc plasma generator was designed and combined with suitable working parameters such as gas flow rate and arc current. The anode has a flow-restrictor channel of 2.8 mm diameter and downstream expansion half-angle of 8°, with the purpose of creating a dispersed nitrogen-arc column by strong gasdynamic expansion effect. 11Producing ultra-high-speed nitrogen jets by arc heating in a low-pressure chamber显示文摘Pure nitrogen gas was heated with direct current arc, at input powers from several hundred W to over 5 k W, and then injected through a nozzle into a chamber at 1 or 10 Pa pressure, with the purpose of accelerating the gas to very high speed around 7 km/s. Various structures of the arc generator and gas expansion nozzle were examined.
