| 1 | Effects of atmospheric correction and pansharpening on LULC classification accuracy using WorldView-2 imagery显示文摘Changes of Land Use and Land Cover(LULC)affect atmospheric,climatic,and biological spheres of the earth.Accurate LULC map offers detail information for resources management and intergovernmental cooperation to debate global warming and biodiversity reduction.This paper examined effects of pansharpening and atmospheric correction on LULC classification.Object-Based Support Vector Machine(OB-SVM)and Pixel-Based Maximum Likelihood Classifier(PB-MLC)were applied for LULC classification.Results showed that atmospheric correction is not necessary for LULC classification if it is conducted in the original multispectral image.Nevertheless,pansharpening plays much more important roles on the classification accuracy than the atmospheric correction.It can help to increase classification accuracy by 12%on average compared to the ones without pansharpening.PB-MLC and OB-SVM achieved similar classification rate.This study indicated that the LULC classification accuracy using PB-MLC and OB-SVM is 82%and 89%respectively.A combination of atmospheric correction,pansharpening,and OB-SVM could offer promising LULC maps from WorldView-2 multispectral and panchromatic images. | Chinsu Lin Chao-Cheng Wu Khongor Tsogt Yen-Chieh Ouyang Chein-I Chang | 2015 | Information Processing in Agriculture2015,2,1: | 4 |
| 2 | Exploring changes of land use and mangrove distribution in the economic area of Sidoarjo District,East Java using multi-temporal Landsat images显示文摘Remotely sensed data are capable of providing spatial and temporal information on land use land cover(LULC)over a large extent of land.The Sidoarjo District in East Java Province has recently been extensively explored for economic development opportunities.This paper examines the use of multi-temporal Landsat images in deriving information for LULC maps,changes of land development and natural ecosystems such as mangrove forest within particular economic reform areas.Results suggest a minimum accuracy(baseline)for LULC mapping using Landsat multispectral reflectance data of 74% for the overall accuracy(OA)and 0.70 for the kappa coefficient of agreement(kappa).On average an acceptable accuracy(OA=88% and kappa=0.86)can be achieved by integrating multispectral reflectance and green normalized difference vegetation index(GNDVI)to support vector machine classification.The economic reform in the Sidoarjo District made a significant change to LULC and mangrove distribution.From 1995 to 2015,25% of crop land and 15% of bare land changed to become built-up areas,and 8% of wetland and 22% of mangroves changed to crop land.A remarkable decrease of mangrove forest occurred in the interior land along the river systems over the whole district.Fortunately,the coastal mangroves areas saw a significant increase due to the Lumpur Sidoarjo(LUSI)-caused mud flow sediments near the estuary of the river.The impact of extensive economic activities and development on the natural mangrove forests was partially compensated for by the LUSI events and also newly developed local community oriented conservative management. | Norida Maryantika Chinsu Lin | 2017 | Information Processing in Agriculture2017,4,4: | 4 |

| 5 | Applying a support vector model to assess land cover changes in the Uvs Lake Basin ecoregion in Mongolia显示文摘The Uvs Lake Basin in western Mongolia is a natural world heritage site and is known for its diversity in landscape and wildlife.Recently,investigative research has shown that the protected pristine ecotone is suffering land degradation due to global warming.In order to obtain evidence of the changes over a long-term time scale,serial multi-temporal Landsat images obtained between 1995 and 2015 were used to classify land cover and land cover changes over the Basin ecoregion using a machine learning classification technique,support vector machine.Results showed that the forest land area in 1995 was 1888.48 km^2 which was equivalent to 7.48%of the total area of the study site.The forest area showed considerable decrease by 301.36 km^2 during the first decade(1995–2004)and 155.81 km^2 during second decade(2004–2015).A total of 457.17 km^2 or 24.21%of the forest land has been developed,most being changed into grassland.The major driver of such changes was illegal logging,forest fire,and pest damage.However grassland was changed primarily into bare land during the two decades.The area of glacier was decreased and primarily changed into water body.In contrast,the area of sand in the Basin ecoregion increased dramatically from 65.20 km^2 in 1995 to 318.33 km^2 in 2015 the increase being mostly from the transition of bare land.In summary,the drivers of the significant decrease of greenness coverage and increase of sand/bare land areas were the interaction of complicated disturbances in both anthropogenic and natural factors,in which logging,grazing,wind erosion,and global warming were the key causes. | Buyan-Erdene Jamsran Chinsu Lin Ishgaldan Byambakhuu Jamsran Raash Khaulenbek Akhmadi | 2019 | Information Processing in Agriculture2019,6,1: | 0 |
