11Effect of expanding nanocellulose sponge on nasal mucosal defects in an animal model显示文摘Nanocellulose has emerged for a wide range of applications in biomedical engineering because of its water absorption capacity,appropriate elasticity.We investigated the hemostatic and regenerative abilities of an expanding polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)-nanocellulose sponge on nasal mucosal defects.A 3 mm-diameter nasal defect was made in experimental rabbits.Rabbits were divided into four groups with control,vaseline,PVA and PVA-nanocellulose packing groups.After the defect was created,bleeding times and amounts were monitored.Packing materials were removed on experimental day(ED)2.On ED 3,7 and 14,histological analysis and immunohistochemical study for neutrophils were performed.Inflammatory cells were counted and epithelial thicknesses were evaluated.Bleeding amounts and times in the vaseline packing group were smaller than in the PVA groups.PVA-nanocellulose group showed less neutrophils than in the other groups on ED 7.Average epithelium thickness in the PVA-nanocellulose group was significantly smaller than in the control group at ED 7,but at ED 14,there was no significant intergroup difference.PVAnanocellulose group had a significant lower inflammatory cell count than the control group on ED 7.PVA-nanocellulose sponge applied to nasal mucosal defects can significantly enhance mucosal regeneration during early wound healing.JiWon Kim Kyungbae Woo Jeong Mi Kim Mi Eun Choi Young-Mo Kim Su-Geun Yang Bong Sup Shim Jeong-Seok Choi 2020Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,1:1
12Congenital stapes suprastructure fixation presenting with fluctuating auditory symptoms:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Stapes ankylosis is a rare cause of conductive hearing loss,and stapes suprastructure fixation is extremely rare with fewer than 30 reported cases.Patients usually visit the clinic with non-progressive conductive hearing loss that typically began in the early years of life.CASE SUMMARY Herein,we report a case of a 37-year-old female with an isolated stapedial suprastructure fixation.The patient presented with unusual fluctuating auditory symptoms of tinnitus,ear fullness and mixed hearing loss.Pre-operative temporal bone computed tomography findings and operative findings revealed an isolated stapedial suprastructure fixation with monopod stapes caused by elongated pyramidal eminence.The hearing threshold recovered completely,and fluctuating auditory symptoms disappeared after the surgery.CONCLUSION This is the first report of stapedial suprastructure fixation with fluctuating auditory symptoms.Successful results are expected with surgical treatment.Sun Choi Seok Hyun Park Ji Su Kim Jiwon Chang 2023World Journal of Clinical Cases2023,11,1:0
13Correlation between hydration properties and electrochemical performances on Ln cation size effect in layered perovskite for protonic ceramic fuel cells显示文摘PrBa_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Co_(1.5)Fe_(0.5)O_(5+δ)(PrBSCF) has attracted much research interest as a potential triple ionic and electronic conductor(TIEC) electrode for protonic ceramic fuel cells(PCFCs). The chemical formula for Pr BSCF is AA'B_(2)O_(5+δ), with Pr(A-site) and Ba/Sr(A'-site) alternately stacked along the c-axis. Due to these structural features, the bulk oxygen ion diffusivity is significantly enhanced through the disorder-free channels in the PrO layer;thus, the A site cations(lanthanide ions) play a pivotal role in determining the overall electrochemical properties of layered perovskites. Consequently, previous research has predominantly focused on the electrical properties and oxygen bulk/surface kinetics of Ln cation effects,whereas the hydration properties for PCFC systems remain unidentified. Here, we thoroughly examined the proton uptake behavior and thermodynamic parameters for the hydration reaction to conclusively determine the changes in the electrochemical performances depending on LnBa_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Co_(1.5)Fe_(0.5)O_(5+δ)(LnBSCF,Ln=Pr, Nd, and Gd) cathodes. At 500 ℃, the quantitative proton concentration of PrBSCF was 2.04 mol% and progressively decreased as the Ln cation size decreased. Similarly, the Gibbs free energy indicated that less energy was required for the formation of protonic defects in the order of Pr BSCF < Nd BSCF < Gd BSCF. 14Manifolding active sites and in situ/operando electrochemical-Raman spectroscopic studies of single-metal nanoparticle-decorated CuO nanorods in furfural biomass valorization to H_(2) and 2-furoic acid显示文摘Here,CuO nanorods fabricated via pulsed laser ablation in liquids were decorated with Ir,Pd,and Ru NPs(loading~7 wt%) through pulsed laser irradiation in the liquids process.The resulting NPs-decorated CuO nanorods were characterized spectroscopically and employed as multifunctional electrocatalysts in OER,HER,and the furfural oxidation reactions(FOR).Ir-CuO nanorods afford the lowest overpotential of~345 mV(HER) and 414 mV(OER) at 10 mA cm^(-2),provide the highest 2-furoic acid yield(~10.85 mM) with 64.9% selectivity,and the best Faradaic efficiency~72.7% in 2 h of FOR at 1.58 V(vs.RHE).In situ electrochemical-Raman analysis of the Ir-CuO detects the formation of the crucial intermediates,such as Cu(Ⅲ)-oxide,Cu(OH)_(2),and Ir_x(OH)_y,on the electrode-electrolyte surface,which act as a promoter for HER and OER.The Ir-CuO ‖ Ir-CuO in a coupled HER and FOR-electrolyzer operates at~200 mV lower voltage,compared with the conventional electrolyzer and embodies the dual advantage of energy-saving H_(2) and 2-furoic acid production.Jiwon Kim Talshyn Begildayeva Jayaraman Theerthagiri Cheol Joo Moon Ahreum Min Seung Jun Lee Gyeong-Ah Kim Myong Yong Choi 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,9:0
