3Potential Use of Strain Hardening ECC in Permanent Formwork with Small Scale Flexural Beams显示文摘Utilizing pre-cast ECC panels as participating permanent formwork of concrete members, and the validity of using ECC to disperse the single crack in concrete into multiple ones in ECC were studied. In the process, totally two kinds of ECC with different tensile properties, 7 series of flat panels with different top surface figures and 3 U-shape panels with different inner surface forms were investigated. To evaluate the performance of the permanent formworks, small ECC-concrete composite beams were cast and tested mechanically. The 4-point bending test results show that the use of pre-cast ECC panels as permanent formwork can significantly improve the load capacity and toughness of a concrete member, effectively dispersing single widely opened crack in concrete into multiple ones in ECC. Most permanent formworks show perfect bond with the concrete cast on them, while the ones with partially debonded zone achieve the best mechanical performance. 4Seasonal movements of American horseshoe crabs Limulus polyphemus in the Great Bay Estuary,New Hampshire (USA)显示文摘The goal of this study was to determine the year round movement patterns of American horseshoe crabs,Limuluspolyphemus,in the Great Bay Estuary,New Hampshire (USA) by using acoustic telemetry to track the movements of 37 adultLimulus,for periods ranging from 2 to 31 months.During the winter (December-March) horseshoe crabs moved very little.In thespring,when water temperatures exceeded 11℃,horseshoe crabs moved at least 1 km further up into the estuary to shallowersubtidal areas about a month prior to spawning.The mean distance traveled during spring migrations was 2.6 ± 0.5 (n=20) km upthe estuary.Mating occurred in May and June and during these months animals spent most of their time in shallow subtidal areasadjacent to mating beaches.In the summer (July-August),animals moved 1.5 ± 0.5 (n=26) km down the estuary,towards theocean,and ranged widely,using extensive portions of the estuary.In the fall (September-November) movement was more limited(0.5 ± 0.5 km;n = 24) while animals settled into wintering locations,where they remained until spring.The mean annual linearrange for all animals was 4.5 ± 0.3 km (n =35) and the maximum distance traveled by an individual horseshoe crab within oneyear was 9.2 km.There was no evidence that any of the horseshoe crabs tracked during this study left theSusanne Y SCHALLER Christopher C.CHABOT Winsor H.WATSON Ⅲ 2010Current Zoology2010,56,5:6
5Liver transplantation in patients with incidental hepatocellular carcinoma/cholangiocarcinoma and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: a single-center experience显示文摘BACKGROUND: Reports of liver transplantation(LT) in patients with mixed hepatocellular carcinoma/cholangiocarcinoma(HCC/CC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC) are modest and have been mostly retrospective after pathological categorization in the setting of presumed HCC. Some studies suggest that patients undergoing LT with small and unifocal ICC or mixed HCC/CC can achieve about 40%-60% 5-year post-transplant survival. The study aimed to report our experience in patients undergoing LT with explant pathology revealing HCC/CC and ICC.METHODS: From a prospectively maintained database, we performed cohort analysis. We identified 13 patients who underwent LT with explant pathology revealing HCC/CC or ICC. RESULTS: The observed recurrence rate post-LT was 31%(4/13) and overall survival was 85%, 51%, and 51% at 1, 3 and 5 years, respectively. Disease-free survival was 68%, 51%, and 41% at 1, 3 and 5 years, respectively. In our cohort, four patients would have qualified for exception points based on updated HCC Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network imaging guidelines. CONCLUSIONS: Lesions which lack complete imaging characteristics of HCC may warrant pre-LT biopsy to fully elucidate their pathology. Identified patients with early HCC/CC or ICC may benefit from LT if unresectable. 6Economic impact of minimally invasive lumbar surgery显示文摘Cost effectiveness has been demonstrated for traditional lumbar discectomy, lumbar laminectomy as well as for instrumented and noninstrumented arthrodesis. While emerging evidence suggests that minimally invasive spine surgery reduces morbidity, duration of hospitalization, and accelerates return to activites of daily living, data regarding cost effectiveness of these novel techniques is limited. The current study analyzes all available data on minimally invasive techniques for lumbar discectomy, decompression, short-segment fusion and deformity surgery. In general, minimallyinvasive spine procedures appear to hold promise in quicker patient recovery times and earlier return to work. Thus, minimally invasive lumbar spine surgery appears to have the potential to be a cost-effective intervention. Moreover, novel less invasive procedures are less destabilizing and may therefore be utilized in certain indications that traditionally required arthrodesis procedures. However, there is a lack of studies analyzing the economic impact of minimally invasive spine surgery. 8Gastric intestinal metaplasia is associated with gastric dysplasia but is inversely correlated with esophageal dysplasia显示文摘AIM To determine which clinical factors might be associated with gastric intestinal metaplasia(IM) in a North American population.METHODS Pathology and endoscopy databases at an academicmedical center were reviewed to identify patients with and without gastric IM on biopsies for a retrospective cohort study. Patient demographics, insurance status, and other clinical factors were reviewed.RESULTS Four hundred and sixty-eight patients with gastric IM(mean age: 61.0 years ± 14.4 years, 55.5% female) and 171 without gastric IM(mean age: 48.8 years ± 20.8 years, 55.0% female) were compared. The endoscopic appearance of atrophic gastritis correlated with finding gastric IM on histopathology(OR = 2.05, P = 0.051). Gastric IM was associated with histologic findings of chronic gastritis(OR = 2.56, P < 0.001), gastric ulcer(OR = 6.97, P = 0.015), gastric dysplasia(OR = 6.11, P = 0.038), and gastric cancer(OR = 6.53, P = 0.027). Histologic findings of Barrett's esophagus(OR = 0.28, P = 0.003) and esophageal dysplasia(OR = 0.11, P = 0.014) were inversely associated with gastric IM. Tobacco use(OR = 1.73, P = 0.005) was associated with gastric IM.CONCLUSION Patients who smoke or have the endoscopic finding of atrophic gastritis are more likely to have gastric IM and should have screening gastric biopsies during esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD). 9高延性水泥基复合材料的制备技术综述显示文摘高延性水泥基复合材料(HDCC)是一种具有应变硬化、多缝开裂和高延性等特性的纤维增强水泥基复合材料.从HDCC材料的设计理论、材料选择、配合比设计、养护等方面综述了HDCC材料的制备技术,分析了制备HDCC时易忽略的几个关键技术,提出了HDCC的制备方法.明确了提高HDCC强度、抗渗性及与之相关耐久性的难度,提出HDCC的制备时,要注意基体强度与断裂韧度发展规律的差异,减少大颗粒材料等提高基体本身及纤维分布的均匀性,制备时可采用使用高掺量低活性粉煤灰,橡胶微粉和EVA乳胶粉、较高水胶比、较高胶砂比、减少养护等降低基体的断裂韧度的措施.基于现有HDCC设计理论及制备技术,要大幅度提高强度和耐久性,选择更匹配的纤维或调整优化纤维性能至关重要.庞超明 Leung Christopher K Y 孙伟 2014河北工业大学学报2014,43,6:3
