| 1 | Impact of Renewable Energy Sources on Steady-state Stability of Weak AC/DC Systems显示文摘In recent years,the penetration of renewable resources into AC power systems has increased tremendously,creating a significantly impact on the latter’s operations and stability.In this respect,it is also important to gain a basic analytical understanding of such impact on the steady-state stability of power systems with electrically weak AC/DC interconnections,but such works are not very evident in the literature.Therefore,a classical analytic model of the single and multi-infeed HVDC system which now incorporates renewable resources is proposed.Then the well-established concept of voltage sensitivity of the AC/DC interconnection is applied to analyze the impact of the renewable resources on the steady-state stability of these composite system models,as well as on the influence of system conditions and parameters.This impact is also compared with that arising from other types of shunt devices alternatively connected at the same AC/DC interconnection,therefore their relative beneficial or negative impacts will also be benchmarked. | Denis Lee Hau Aik Göran Andersson | 2017 | CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2017,3,4: | 11 |
| 2 | Influence of cardiac nerve status on cardiovascular regulation and cardioprotection显示文摘Neural elements of the intrinsic cardiac nervous system transduce sensory inputs from the heart, blood vessels and other organs to ensure adequate cardiac function on a beat-to-beat basis. This inter-organ crosstalk is critical for normal function of the heart and other organs; derangements within the nervous system hierarchy contribute to pathogenesis of organ dysfunction. The role of intact cardiac nerves in development of, as well as protection against, ischemic injury is of current interest since it may involve recruitment of intrinsic cardiac ganglia. For instance, ischemic conditioning, a novel protection strategy against organ injury, and in particular remote conditioning, is likely mediated by activation of neural pathways or by endogenous cytoprotective bloodborne substances that stimulate different signalling pathways. This discovery reinforces the concept that inter-organ communication, and maintenance thereof, is key. As such, greater understanding of mechanisms and elucidation of treatment strategies is imperative to improve clinical outcomes particularly in patients with comorbidities. For instance, autonomic imbalance between sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system regulation can initiate cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy that compromises cardiac stability and function. | 3 | Contribution of functional KIR3DL1 to ankylosing spondylitis显示文摘Increasing evidence points to a role for killer immunoglobulin-like receptors(KIRs)in the development of autoimmune diseases.In particular,a positive association of KIR3DS1(activating receptor)and a negative association of KIR3DL1(inhibitory receptor)alleles with ankylosing spondylitis(AS)have been reported by several groups.However,none of the studies analyzed these associations in the context of functionality of polymorphic KIR3DL1.To better understand how the KIR3DL1/3DS1 genes determine susceptibility to AS,we analyzed the frequencies of alleles and genotypes encoding functional(KIR3DL1*F)and non-functional(KIR3DL1*004)receptors.We genotyped 83 AS patients and 107 human leukocyte antigen(HLA)-B27-positive healthy controls from the Russian Caucasian population using a two-stage sequence-specific primer PCR,which distinguishes KIR3DS1,KIR3DL1*F and KIR3DL1*004 alleles.For the patients carrying two functional KIR3DL1 alleles,those alleles were additionally genotyped to identify KIR3DL1*005 and KIR3DL1*007 alleles,which are functional but are expressed at low levels.KIR3DL1 was negatively associated with AS at the expense of KIR3DL1*F but not of KIR3DL1*004.This finding indicates that the inhibitory KIR3DL1 receptor protects against the development of AS and is not simply a passive counterpart of the segregating KIR3DS1 allele encoding the activating receptor.However,analysis of genotype frequencies indicates that the presence of KIR3DS1 is a more important factor for AS susceptibility than the absence of KIR3DL1*F.The activation of either natural killer(NK)or T cells via the KIR3DS1 receptor can be one of the critical events in AS development,while the presence of the functional KIR3DL1 receptor has a protective effect.Nevertheless,even individuals with a genotype that carried two inhibitory KIR3DL1 alleles expressed at high levels could develop AS. | Ivan V Zvyagin Ilgar Z Mamedov Olga V Britanova Dmitriy B Staroverov Evgeni L Nasonov Anna G Bochkova Anna V Chkalina Alexei A Kotlobay Dmitriy O Korostin Denis V Rebrikov Sergey Lukyanov Yuri B Lebedev Dmitriy M Chudakov | 2010 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2010,7,6: | 5 |
| 4 | Factor analysis identifies subgroups of constipation显示文摘AIM:To determine whether distinct symptom groupings exist in a constipated population and whether such grouping might correlate with quantifiable pathophysiological measures of colonic dysfunction.METHODS:One hundred and ninety-one patients presenting to a Gastroenterology clinic with constipation and 32 constipated patients responding to a newspaper advertisement completed a 53-item,wide-ranging selfreport questionnaire.One hundred of these patients had colonic transit measured scintigraphically.Factor analysis determined whether constipation-related symptoms grouped into distinct aspects of symptomatology.Cluster analysis was used to determine whether indi-vidual patients naturally group into distinct subtypes.RESULTS:Cluster analysis yielded a 4 cluster solution with the presence or absence of pain and laxative unresponsiveness providing the main descriptors.Amongst all clusters there was a considerable proportion of patients with demonstrable delayed colon transit,irritable bowel syndrome positive criteria and regular stool frequency.The majority of patients with these characteristics also reported regular laxative use.CONCLUSION:Factor analysis identified four constipation subgroups,based on severity and laxative unresponsiveness,in a constipated population.However,clear stratification into clinically identifiable groups remains imprecise. | Philip G Dinning Mike Jones Linda Hunt Sergio E Fuentealba Jamshid Kalanter Denis W King David Z Lubowski Nicholas J Talley Ian J Cook | 2011 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,11: | 3 |
