| 1 | Determinants of neonatal jaundice in Ethiopia:a systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Background Neonatal jaundice is a common condition characterized by a yellowish discoloration of the skin,conjunctiva,and sclera caused by elevated serum or plasma bilirubin levels during the newborn period.The condition is usually not dangerous,but it can progress to severe hyperbilirubinemia,which can lead to acute bilirubin encephalopathy and kernicterus,a bilirubin-induced neurological damage.Therefore,this study aimed to assess the pooled prevalence of neonatal jaundice and its determinants in Ethiopia.Methods Scopus,PubMed,Google Scholar,Embase,and CINAHL databases were searched for studies published between January 1,2010 and July 30,2021.A weighted DerSimonian Laird random-effects model was used to estimate the pooled prevalence of neonatal jaundice and its associated factors.The I2 was used to calculate the degree of heterogeneity.The funnel plot and Egger's regression test were used to assess publication bias.Results Totally 697 articles were generated from various databases,and the review included a total of eight articles.The pooled prevalence of neonatal jaundice was 30.96%[95%confidence interval(CI)16.61%–45.31%)]in Ethiopia.This review showed that prolonged labor[adjusted odd ratio(AOR)=3.39;95%CI 2.41–4.77),low birth weight(AOR=5.12;95%CI 3.11–8.72),birth asphyxia(AOR=3.75;95%CI 2.11–6.66),cephalohematoma(AOR=7.07;95%CI 2.72–18.38),ABO incompatibility(AOR=6.05;95%CI 2.95–12.42),Rhesus(RH)incompatibility(AOR=3.77;95%CI 2.04–6.96),male sex(AOR=4.53;95%CI 3.39–6.07),and neonatal sepsis(AOR=2.47;95%CI 1.49–4.08)were identified as a determining factor for neonatal jaundice in Ethiopia.Conclusions In low-and middle-income countries,neonatal jaundice is a significant healthcare burden,accounting for a significant portion of global childhood mortality and morbidity.However,some low-cost,effective,practical,and dependable solutions have been implemented.Prolonged labor,ABO incompatibility,RH incompatibility,birth asphyxia,neonatal sepsis,low birth weight,cephalohematoma,and male sex were identified as risk factors for neonatal jaundice in Ethiopia. | Habtamu Gebrehana Belay Getachew Arage Debebe Alemu Degu Ayele Bekalu Getnet Kassa Gedefaye Nibret Mihretie Mulugeta Dile Worke | 2022 | World Journal of Pediatrics2022,18,11: | 3 |

| 12 | Probing the Interfacial Forces and Surface Interaction Mechanisms in Petroleum Production Processes显示文摘Despite the advances that have been made in renewable energy over the past decade,crude oil or petroleum remains one of the most important energy resources to the world.Petroleum production presents many challenging issues,such as the destabilization of complex oil-water emulsions,fouling phenomena on pipelines and other facilities,and water treatment.These problems are influenced by the molecular forces at the oil/water/solid/gas interfaces involved in relevant processes.Herein,we present an overview of recent advances on probing the interfacial forces in several petroleum production processes(e.g.,bitumen extraction,emulsion stabilization and destabilization,fouling and antifouling phenomena,and water treatment)by applying nanomechanical measurement technologies such as a surface forces apparatus(SFA)and an atomic force microscope(AFM).The interaction forces between bitumen and mineral solids or air bubbles in the surrounding fluid media determine the bitumen liberation and flotation efficiency in oil sands production.The stability of complex oil/water emulsions is governed by the forces between emulsion drops and particularly between interface-active species(e.g.,asphaltenes).Various oil components(e.g.,asphaltenes)and emulsion drops interact with different substrate surfaces(e.g.,pipelines or membranes),influencing fouling phenomena,oil-water separation,and wastewater treatment.Quantifying these intermolecular and interfacial forces has advanced the mechanistic understanding of these interfacial interactions,facilitating the development of advanced materials and technologies to solve relevant challenging issues and improve petroleum production processes.Remaining challenges and suggestions on future research directions in the field are also presented. | Diling Yang Xuwen Peng Qiongyao Peng Tao Wang Chenyu Qiao Ziqian Zhao Lu Gong Yueliang Liu Hao Zhang Hongbo Zeng | 2022 | Engineering2022,,11: | 1 |

| 16 | A complementary integrated Transformer network for hyperspectral image classification显示文摘In the past,convolutional neural network(CNN)has become one of the most popular deep learning frameworks,and has been widely used in Hyperspectral image classification tasks.Convolution(Conv)in CNN uses filter weights to extract features in local receiving domain,and the weight parameters are shared globally,which more focus on the highfrequency information of the image.Different from Conv,Transformer can obtain the long‐term dependence between long‐distance features through modelling,and adaptively focus on different regions.In addition,Transformer is considered as a low‐pass filter,which more focuses on the low‐frequency information of the image.Considering the complementary characteristics of Conv and Transformer,the two modes can be integrated for full feature extraction.In addition,the most important image features correspond to the discrimination region,while the secondary image features represent important but easily ignored regions,which are also conducive to the classification of HSIs.In this study,a complementary integrated Transformer network(CITNet)for hyperspectral image classification is proposed.Firstly,three‐dimensional convolution(Conv3D)and two‐dimensional convolution(Conv2D)are utilised to extract the shallow semantic information of the image.In order to enhance the secondary features,a channel Gaussian modulation attention module is proposed,which is embedded between Conv3D and Conv2D.This module can not only enhance secondary features,but suppress the most important and least important features.Then,considering the different and complementary characteristics of Conv and Transformer,a complementary integrated Transformer module is designed.Finally,through a large number of experiments,this study evaluates the classification performance of CITNet and several state‐of‐the‐art networks on five common datasets.The experimental results show that compared with these classification networks,CITNet can provide better classification performance. | Diling Liao Cuiping Shi Liguo Wang | 2023 | CAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology2023,8,4: | 0 |
| 17 | The impacts of rice cultivation on an indigenous Fogera cattle population at the eastern shore of Lake Tana, Ethiopia显示文摘Background:Even though increasing population pressure and associated increased demand for food and economic development have led to overexploitation and degradation of wetlands throughout the world,the drivers are most severe in developing countries.For generations,Fogera wetlands in Ethiopia which are parts of Lake Tana Biosphere Reserve have been widely used for grazing of indigenous cattle.Fogera cattle are one of several recognized indigenous breeds of Abyssinian zebu bovine cattle(Bos primigenius indicus)found in Fogera district,Ethiopia.This study was conducted to quantify impacts of rice expansion on cattle population in Fogera wetlands.Data were collected through questionnaire,focus group discussions,interviews,and land use/land cover analysis.Respondents were selected using systematic random sampling.Variance and LEVENES test were used to analyze the livestock unit and to check homogeneity.Results:The study revealed that during the 20-year period preceding 2015,the number of cattle owned decreased from 3509 to 1510 heads.In the same period,rice cultivation increased from 182 to 9499 ha and production from 6701 to 714,013 qt.Grazing lands were reduced from 8550 to 3501 ha,wetlands from 3114 to 1060 ha,and forests from 1542 to 907 ha.Land use/land cover changes showed a negative balance of 40%dry matter requiring cattle feed to be increasingly supplemented through purchases,or reduction in herd number.The study also indicated that the land-use changes brought at the expense of traditional cattle production systems.Conclusion:Hence,proper management is required to maintain these valuable resources and keep their role in socioeconomic development of the area. | Mare Addis Desta Gete Zeleke William A.Payne Teshome Shenkoru Yihun Dile | 2019 | Ecological Processes2019,8,1: | 0 |
