Recent developments and applications on high-performance cast magnesium rare-earth alloys显示文摘During the past decades, with the increasing demands in lightweight structural materials,Mg alloys with low density and high performance have been extensively investigated and partly applied in some industries.Especially when rare earth(RE)elements are added as major alloying elements to Mg alloys, the alloy strength and creep resistance are greatly improved, which have promoted several series of Mg-RE alloys. This paper reviews the progress and developments of high-performance Mg-RE alloys in recent years with emphasis on cast alloys. The main contents include the alloy design, melt purification, grain refinement, castability, novel liquid casting and semisolid forming approaches, and the industrial applications or trials made of Mg-RE alloys. The review will provide insights for future developments of new alloys, techniques and applications of Mg alloys.Guohua Wu Cunlong Wang Ming Sun Wenjiang Ding 2021Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2021,9,1:35
Opportunities and challenges for the biodegradable magnesium alloys as next-generation biomaterials显示文摘In recent years, biodegradable magnesium alloys emerge as a new class of biomaterials for tissue engineering and medical devices.Deploying biodegradable magnesium-based materials not only avoids a second surgical intervention for implant removal but also circumvents the long-term foreign body effect of permanent implants. However, these materials are often subjected to an uncontrolled and fast degradation, acute toxic responses and rapid structural failure presumably due to a localized, too rapid corrosion process. The patented Mg-Nd-Zn-based alloys(JiaoDa BioMg[JDBM])have been developed in Shanghai Jiao Tong University in recent years. The alloy series exhibit lower biodegradation rate and homogeneous nanophasic degradation patterns as compared with other biodegradable Mg alloys. The in vitro cytotoxicity tests using various types of cells indicate excellent biocompatibility of JDBM.Finally, bone implants using JDBM-1 alloy and cardiovascular stents using JDBM-2 alloy have been successfully fabricated and in vivo long-term assessment via implantation in animal model have been performed. The results confirmed the reduced degradation rate in vivo, excellent tissue compatibility and long-term structural and mechanical durability. Thus, this novel Mg-alloy series with highly uniform nanophasic biodegradation represent a major breakthrough in the field and a promising candidate for manufacturing the next generation biodegradable implants.Wenjiang Ding 2016Regenerative Biomaterials2016,3,2:33
Microstructure and mechanical properties of NZ30K alloy by semi-continuous direct chill and sand mould casting processes显示文摘The Mg-3.0Nd-0.2Zn-0.4Zr (NZ30K) alloys were prepared by direct-chill casting (DCC) and sand mould casting (SMC) processes, respectively and their microstructures and mechanical properties were investigated. The results indicate that casting method plays a remarkable influence on the microstructure and mechanical properties of as-cast NZ30K alloy. The grain size increases from 35-40μm in the billets made by the DCC to about 100-120μm in the billets by the SMC.The aggregation of Mg12Nd usually found at the triple joints of grain boundaries in the billets prepared by SMC while is not observable from the billets by DCC.The tensile strengths and elongations of the billets are 195.2 MPa and 15.5% by DCC,and 162.5 MPa and 3.2% by SMC,respectively. The tensile strength of the alloy by DCC is remarkably enhanced by T6 heat treatment, which reached 308.5 MPa.Fracture surfaces of NZ30K alloy have been characterized as intergranular fracture by SMC and quasi-cleavage fracture by DCC,respectively.Zheng Xingwei Dong Jie Liu Wencai Ding Wenjiang 2011China Foundry2011,8,1:25
Effect of Y and Gd content on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Y-RE alloys显示文摘In the application of WE43,it is found that Y_(2)O_(3)inclusion formed in the process of casting seriously reduced the mechanical properties of the products. The reduction of the mechanical properties is even more distinct when it comes to the application in the thin walled complex-precision castings. In order to decrease the Y_(2)O_(3)inclusions,Gd element was used to replace part of the Y element in Mg-Y-RE series alloys. The effect of Y content(Mg-x Y-1Gd-2Nd-0.5Zn-0.5Zr)and Y/Gd ratio(Mg-x Y-(5-x)Gd-2Nd-0.5Zn-0.5Zr)on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Y-RE alloys were investigated in this paper. With decreasing Y content, the grain size of the alloys increased, both ultimate tensile strength(UTS)and yield strength(YS)of alloys decreased monotonically.Replacing part of Y content with Gd and keeping the total rare earth content unchanged, the low Y content Mg-2Y-3Gd-2Nd-0.5Zn-0.5Zr alloy showed the same mechanical properties as the high Y content Mg-4Y-1Gd-2Nd-0.5Zn-0.5Zr alloy at both room and elevated temperatures. After solution treatment at 525°C for 8 h and aging treatment at 225°C for 10 h,the UTS,YS and elongation(ε)of Mg-2Y-3Gd-2Nd-0.5Zn-0.5Zr alloy reached 281.7 MPa,198 MPa and 11.1%at room temperature, and 216.7 MPa,171.6 MPa and 16.1%at 250°C.The new low Y content Mg-2Y-2Nd-3Gd-0.5Zn-0.5Zr alloy is expected to replace the high Y content WE43 alloys, which can be used in the complex thin-walled parts of aviation products.Kang Luo Liang Zhang Guohua Wu Wencai Liu Wenjiang Ding 2019Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2019,7,2:20
Tensile properties of high strength cast Mg alloys at room temperature:A review显示文摘As most Mg alloy products are now produced by a casting process, the development of high strength cast Mg alloys can promote their further applications and has already become one of the hot research areas of Mg alloys. The present paper reviews the strengthening mechanisms, tensile properties and modification results of commercial high strength cast Mg alloys;as well as the development of Mg-Gd,Mg-Nd and Mg-Sn based alloys. It concludes that precipitation strengthening is the most important strengthening mechanism in high strength cast Mg alloys, which contributes more than 60%of yield strength in solution&peak-aged(T6)cast Mg alloys. For the yield strength, the alloys follow the sequence of Mg-Gd(Y)-Ag>Mg-Gd(Y)-Zn>Mg-Gd-Y/Sm/Nd>Mg-Y-Nd(WE series)>ZK61>Mg-Nd>AZ91>Mg-Sn.Mg-Gd(Y)-Ag based alloys are the strongest cast Mg alloys at present, followed by Mg-Gd(Y)-Zn based alloys. The high yield strengths of Mg-Gd(Y)-Ag and Mg-Gd(Y)-Zn cast alloys are due to the co-precipitation of basal and prismatic meta-stable phases.Fu Penghuai Peng Liming Jiang Haiyan Ding Wenjiang Zhai Chunquan 2014China Foundry2014,11,4:12
Challenges and Solutions for the Additive Manufacturing of H) Biodegradable Magnesium Implants显示文摘Due to their capability of fabricating geometrically complex structures, additive manufacturing(AM)techniques have provided unprecedented opportunities to produce biodegradable metallic implants—especially using Mg alloys, which exhibit appropriate mechanical properties and outstanding biocompatibility. However, many challenges hinder the fabrication of AM-processed biodegradable Mg-based implants, such as the difficulty of Mg powder preparation, powder splash, and crack formation during the AM process. In the present work, the challenges of AM-processed Mg components are analyzed and solutions to these challenges are proposed.A novel Mg-based alloy(Mg-Nd-Zn-Zr alloy,JDBM)powder with a smooth surface and good roundness was first synthesized successfully, and the AM parameters for Mg-based alloys were optimized.Based on the optimized parameters, porous JDBM scaffolds with three different architectures(biomimetic, diamond, and gyroid)were then fabricated by selective laser melting(SLM),and their mechanical properties and degradation behavior were evaluated. Finally, the gyroid scaffolds with the best performance were selected for dicalcium phosphate dihydrate(DCPD)coating treatment, which greatly suppressed the degradation rate and increased the cytocompatibility, indicating a promising prospect for clinical application as bone tissue engineering scaffolds.Yinchuan Wang Penghuai Fu Nanqing Wang Liming Peng Bin Kang Hui Zeng Guangyin Yuan Wenjiang Ding 2020Engineering2020,6,11:10
Effects of Ho on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Zn-Ho-Zr magnesium alloys显示文摘The microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Zn-Ho-Zr alloys have been investigated in detail. The grain size of the as-cast Mg-Zn-Ho-Zr alloy was greatly decreased by the addition of Ho,and the grain growth during solution treatment was suppressed by Mg-Zn-Ho phases formed at grain boundaries. These thermally stable Mg-Zn-Ho phases could not completely dissolve into the matrix during solution treatment, and the strengthening effect of solution-plus-ageing treatment weakened. The addition of Ho can greatly enhance the high-temperature elongation of the Mg-Zn-Ho-Zr alloy, but the increase of high-temperature tensile strength was just a little.LI Daquan WANG Qudong DING Wenjiang 2011Rare Metals2011,30,2:8
Influence of trace As content on the microstructure and corrosion behavior of the AZ91 alloy in different metallurgical conditions显示文摘The influence of trace As content(0.04,0.05,0.06 wt%)on the microstructure and corrosion behavior of AZ91 alloy in different metallurgical conditions(as-cast,as-quenched,peak-aged)was firstly investigated. It is found that the corrosion resistance of AZ91 alloy in all conditions is significantly enhanced by As addition, mainly due to cathodic toxication, melt purification and incidence reduction of local corrosion. As alloying leads to the formation of Mg 3 As 2 and makes the β-Mg 17 Al 12 phase less continuous in the as-cast alloys. The alloy containing 0.06 wt%As obtains a higher corrosion rate than those of the alloy containing 0.05 wt%As owing to a more discontinuity of β phase. The β phase is dissolved into the matrix in the as-quenched alloys and reprecipitates along the grain boundaries after aging. The more continuous β phase distribution in the peak-aged alloys contributes to corrosion resistance. The corrosion rates are in the order of as-quenched>as-cast>peak-aged.The lowest corrosion rate(0.67 mm/y)in 3.5 wt%NaCl solution is obtained in the peak-aged AZ91-0.05As alloy, which is over 70%lower than that of as-cast AZ91 alloy(2.22 mm/y).Zhe Zhang Guohua Wu Andrej Atrens Wenjiang Ding 2020Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,1:8
Microstructure evolution of semi-solid Mg-10Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy during isothermal heat treatment显示文摘In this study, the microstructure evolution of semi-solid Mg-10Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy during isothermal heat treatment has been investigated. The results show that primary particles coarsen continuously during the holding.Coarsening rate decreases with the increase of isothermal temperature. When isothermal temperature increases from 600℃ to 620℃,the dominant mechanism for coarsening changes from particle coalescence to Ostwald ripening.Equiaxed as-cast microstructure is beneficial to the semi-solid microstructure after isothermal heat treatment, which brings about the refinement and spheroidization of primary particles, and shortening of holding time.Significant modification of second phases can also be achieved after isothermal heat treatment, due to its unique solidification process. The optimum processing parameters for Mg-10Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy in isothermal heat treatment are isothermal temperature of 610℃-620℃ and holding time of 20-40 min.Guohua Wu Yang Zhang Wencai Liu Wenjiang Ding 2013Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2013,1,1:8
Improvement in grain refinement efficiency of Mg-Zr master alloy for magnesium alloy by friction stir processing显示文摘Previous studies have proved that the zirconium(Zr)alloying and grain refining performance of a Mg-Zr master alloy on Mg alloy is closely related to the distribution of Zr particle size, and a Mg-Zr master alloy with more Zr particles in size range of 1-5μm exhibits a better refining efficiency. In this paper, friction stir processing(FSP)was used to modify the Zr particles size distribution of a commercially available Mg-30 wt.%Zr master alloy, and the subsequent grain refinement ability was studied by trials on a typical Mg-3Nd-0.2Zn-0.6Zr(wt.%,NZ30K)alloy.It is found that plenty of large Zr particles in the as-received Mg-30%Zr master alloy are broken by FSP.Grain refinement tests reveal that the refining efficiency of Mg-30%Zr alloy is significantly improved by FSP,which is attributed to the better distribution of Zr particles. The refinement effect by adding 0.6%FSP-ed Mg-30%Zr is approximately equivalent to that by adding 1.0%as-received Mg-30%Zr.Due to the easy and convenient operation of FSP,this study provides a new method to develop a more efficient Mg-Zr refiner.Chengqi Wang Ming Sun Feiyan Zheng Liming Peng Wenjiang Ding 2014Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2014,2,3:7
Tensile Properties and Deformation Behaviors of a New Aluminum Alloy for High Pressure Die Casting显示文摘Effects of natural aging and test temperature on the tensile behaviors have been studied for a highperformance cast aluminum alloy Al–10Si–1.2Cu–0.7Mn. Based on self-strengthening mechanism and spheroidization microstructures, the alloy tested at room temperature(RT) exhibits higher 0.2% proof stress(YS) of 206 MPa, ultimate tensile strength(UTS) of 331 MPa and elongation of 10%. Increasing aging time improves the YS and UTS and reduces the ductility of the alloy. Further increasing aging time beyond72 h does not signi?cantly increase the tensile strengths. Increasing test temperature signi?cantly decreases the tensile strengths and increases the ductility of the alloy. The UTS of the alloy can be estimated by using the hardness. The Portevin–Le Chatelier effect occurs at RT due to the interactions between solid solution atoms and dislocations. Similar behaviors occurring at 250 °C are attributed to dynamic strain aging mechanism. Increasing aging time leads to decrease in the strain-hardening exponent(n) value and increase in the strain-hardening coe?cient(k) value. Increasing test temperature apparently decreases the n and k values. Eutectic phase particles cracking and debonding determine the fracture mechanism of the alloy. Final failure of the alloy mainly depends on the global instability(high temperature, necking) and local instability(RT, shearing). Different tensile behaviors of the alloy are mainly attributed to different matrix strengths, phase particle strengths and damage rate.Peng Zhang Zhenming Li Baoliang Liu Wenjiang Ding 2017Journal of Materials Science & Technology2017,33,4:7
Microstructural evolution, mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of as-cast Mg-5Li-3Al-2Zn alloy with different Sn and Y addition显示文摘Influences of Sn and Y on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion behavior of as-cast Mg-5 Li-3 Al-2 Zn(LAZ532)alloy were investigated. The addition of Sn and Y refines grains and results in the formation of Mg2 Sn and Al2 Y phases, thus improving the mechanical properties of alloy by second phase strengthening and grain refinement strengthening.As-cast LAZ532 alloy shows typical filiform corrosion morphology, and the addition of Sn and Y does not change the corrosion mode of alloy.Ascast LAZ532-0.8 Sn-1.2 Y alloy shows excellent mechanical properties with yield strength of 166.2 MPa,ultimate tensile strength of 228.6 MPa and elongation of 14.8%,and exhibits the best corrosion resistance with the smallest corrosion current density and the lowest anodic dissolution rate.Xiang Peng Shihao Xu Dehua Ding Guanglan Liao Guohua Wu Wencai Liu Wenjiang Ding 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,13:7
Effect of rolling strain on microstructure and tensile properties of dual-phase Mg-8Li-3Al-2Zn-0.5Y alloy显示文摘This study was conducted to discuss the effect of rolling strain on microstructure and tensile properties of dual-phase Mg-8Li-3Al-2Zn-0.5 Y(wt%) alloy, which was prepared by casting, and then homogenized and rolled at 200℃. The rolling process was conducted with 10% reduction per pass and five different accumulated strains, varying from 10% to 70%. The results indicate that the as-cast and as-rolled Mg-8Li-3Al-2Zn-0.5Y alloys are composed of α-Mg, β-Li, AlLi and Al_2Y phases. After rolling process, anisotropic microstructure was observed. a-Mg phase got elongated in both rolling direction and transverse direction with the addition of rolling strain. Consequently, the strength of the alloy in both directions was notably improved whereas the elongation declined, mainly caused by strain hardening and dispersion strengthening. The tensile properties of the as-rolled alloys in the RD, no matter the YS, UTS or the elongation, are higher than those of the TD due to their larger deformation strain and significant anisotropy in the hcp α-Mg phase. In addition, the fracture and strengthening mechanism of the tested alloys were also investigated systematically.Wencai Liu Shi Feng Zhongquan Li Jiong Zhao Guohua Wu Xianfei Wang Lv Xiao Wenjiang Ding 2018Journal of Materials Science & Technology2018,34,12:6
Preparation and hydrogen storage properties of MgH2-trimesic acid-TM MOF(TM=Co,Fe) composites显示文摘Two kinds of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) based on Co(Ⅱ) and Fe(Ⅱ) as metal ions and trimasic acid(TMA) as organic linker were synthesized. They were used to prepare corresponding Mg H2-TM MOF(TM = Co, Fe) composites via ball-milling. X-ray diffraction analyses show the formation of Mg2 Co and α-Fe phases in Mg H2-TMMOF composites after decomposition. Both of the well dispersed Mg2Co andα-Fe nanoparticles exhibit considerable catalytic efficiency in accelerating the sorption kinetics of Mg H2.The dehydrogenated MgH2-Fe MOF composite shows faster hydriding kinetics than the pure Mg H2 and Mg H2-CoMOF. Meanwhile, the apparent dehydrogenation activation energy(Ed) of the Mg H2-Co MOF and Mg H2-Fe MOF composites are 151.3 ± 9.4 and 142.3 ± 6.5 kJ/mol H2, both of which are lower than that of pure Mg H2(181.4 ± 9.2 kJ/mol H2). The improvement on the sorption kinetics of the Mg H2-TM MOF powders is mainly attributed to the catalytic effects of nano-sized Mg2 Co and α-Fe formed on the surface of Mg/Mg H2 particles.Zhewen Ma Jianxin Zou Darvaish Khan Wen Zhu Chuanzhu Hu Xiaoqin Zeng Wenjiang Ding 2019Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,10:6
Grain refinement and orientation of AZ31B magnesium alloy in hot flow forming under different thickness reductions显示文摘An analysis of the hot flow forming of Mg-3.0 Al-1.0 Zn-0.3 Mn(AZ31 B) alloy was conducted by experiments and numerical simulations. The effects of different thickness reductions on the microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated at a temperature of 693 K, a spindle speed of 800 rev/min and a feed ratio of 0.1 mm/rev. Thickness reductions have great influence on the uniformity of microstructure along the radial direction(RD) and the grain sizes become refined and uniform when the thickness reduction reaches 45%. The c-axes of most grains are approximately parallel to the RD, with a slight inclination towards the axial direction(AD). The best mechanical properties with UTS of 280 MPa and YS of 175 MPa near the outer surface while 266 MPa and 153 MPa near the inner surface have been achieved due to grain refinement and texture. Moreover, the material flow behavior and stress/strain distributions for singlepass reductions were studied using the ABAQUS/Explicit software. The calculated results indicate that the materials mainly suffer from triaxial compressive stresses and undergo compressive plastic strain in RD and tensile strains in other directions. The higher stress and strain rate near the outer surface lead to more refined grains than that of other regions along the RD, whereas the orientation of the maximum principal compressive stress leads to a discrepancy of the grain orientations in RD.Yalian Zhang Fenghua Wang Jie Dong Li Jin Conghui Liu Wenjiang Ding 2018Journal of Materials Science & Technology2018,34,7:6
Basal-plane stacking-fault energies of Mg alloys: A first-principles study of metallic alloying effects显示文摘Generalized stacking-fault energies(GSFEs) of basal-plane stacking faults I1 and I2 in Mg alloys have been studied based on first-principles calculations, where 43 alloying elements were considered. It is found that the most contributing features of alloying elements to GSFEs are bulk modulus, equilibrium volume, binding energy, atomic radius and ionization energy. Both bulk modulus and ionization energy exhibit positive relationships with GSFEs, and the others show opposite relationships. Multiple regressions have been performed to offer a quantitative prediction for basal-plane GSFEs in Mg-X systems. GSFEs, alloying effects of elements and the prediction model established within this work may provide guidelines for new Mg alloys design with better ductility.Qing Dong Zhe Luo Hong Zhu Leyun Wang Tao Ying Zhaohui Jin Dejiang Li Wenjiang Ding Xiaoqin Zeng 2018Journal of Materials Science & Technology2018,34,10:4
Microstructural evolution of Mg-Al-Re alloy reinforced with alumina fibers显示文摘Few studies were reported on the phases'relationships of AE44(Mg-4.0Al-4.1RE-0.3Mn,wt.%)and its composites. In this work,AE44 alloy and Saffil(6-Al2O3)/AE44 Metal matrix composite(MMC)were both prepared by slow shot high pressure die casting(SS-HPDC)technology and their phase constitutions were all studied in detail using experimental techniques combined with CALPHAD(Calculation of Phase Diagram)modeling. The results revealed that the alloy consists of the a-Mg matrix,A1hRE3 intermetallic phase, and one trace phase AI3RE,while the composite contains five major phases:a-Mg,5-AI2O3,AI3RE,MgO and Mg2Si.and two trace phases of A12RE and AI11RE3,respectively.A1hRE3 is partly derived from ALRE,while A13RE is a product of the peritectoid reaction between the two precipitates. The presence of MgO and Mg2Si is due to the interfacial reaction between the SiO2 binder in the fiber preforms and the molten magnesium during infiltration. The use of SiO2 binder in the preform manufacturing was limited/minimized to reduce the MgO formation in the MMC casting process, which can be detrimental to the fatigue performance of the MMC materials.Li Li Dejiang Li Xiaoqin Zeng Alan A.Luo Bin Hu Anil K.Sachdev Liangliang Gu Wenjiang Ding 2020Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,3:4
Microstructure and mechanical properties of sand-cast Mg-6Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy subject to thermal cycling treatment显示文摘This work was undertaken to investigate the microstructural evolution, mechanical properties and fracture behavior of sand-cast Mg-6 Gd-3 Y-0.5 Zr(GW63) alloy subject to thermal cycling treatment. In order to simulate the thermal cycling under extreme service conditions(space or moon environments), the sand-cast and T6 treated GW63 alloys were subjected to thermal cycling treatment which consists of deep cryogenic-elevated temperature cycling treatment(DCET) and deep cryogenic cycling treatment(DCT). Results indicate that there are significant gains in yield strength(YS) and ultimate tensile strength(UTS) of the sand-cast GW63 alloy after DCET, whereas the T6 state alloy undergoes a different variation in mechanical properties. However, no appreciable influence is revealed on the mechanical properties of the tested GW63 alloys after DCT. Meanwhile, the DCT and DCET have no obvious effects on the fracture morphology. The DCT enhances the precipitation kinetics via providing favorable nucleation sites for the precipitation of second phases. The elevated temperature process of DCET plays a crucial role in improving the aging-hardening responses and releasing the stress concentration brought by DCT to a great extent, leading to overcome the obstacle of essential phase transformation. The changes in mechanical properties are primarily attributed to the phase transformation of the studied alloys during DCET.Beiping Zhou Wencai Liu Guohua Wu Liang Zhang Xiaolong Zhang Hao Ji Wenjiang Ding 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,36,8:4
Effects of Zr,Ti and Sc additions on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-0.4Cu-0.14Si-0.05Mg-0.2Fe alloys显示文摘The evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-0.4 Cu-0.14 Si-0.05 Mg-0.2 Fe(wt.%)alloys, micro-alloyed with Zr, Ti and Sc, were investigated. The addition of 0.2%Zr to base alloy accelerates the precipitation of Si-rich nano-phase in α-Al matrix, which plays an important role in improving the mechanical properties of an alloy. The tensile strength increases from 102 MPa for the base alloy to 113 MPa for the Zr-modified alloy. Adding 0.2%Zr + 0.2%Ti to base alloy effectively refines a-Al grain size and accelerates the precipitation of Si and Cu elements, leading to heavy segregation at grain boundary.By further adding 0.2%Sc to Zr + Ti modified alloy, the segregation of Si and Cu elements is suppressed and more Si and Cu precipitates appeared in α-Al matrix. Accompanied with the formation of coherent Al_3Sc phase, the tensile strength increases from 108 MPa for the Zr + Ti modified alloy to 152 MPa for the Sc-modified alloy. Due to excellent thermal stability of Al_3Sc phase, the Sc-modified alloy exhibits obvious precipitation hardening behavior at 350℃, and the tensile strength increases to 203 MPa after holding at 350 ℃ for 200 h.Jian Feng Bing Ye Lijie Zuo Ruijuan Qi Qudong Wang Haiyan Jiang Rong Huang Wenjiang Ding Jie Yao Chuntao Wang 2018Journal of Materials Science & Technology2018,34,12:3
Effects of Mn addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of cast Mg-9Al-2Sn(wt.%)alloy显示文摘The microstructure and mechanical properties of cast Mg-9Al-2Sn-xMn(x=0,0.1,0.3 wt.%)alloys in as-cast,solution treated and aged conditions are investigated. The results reveal that Mn addition into Mg-9Al-2Sn alloy leads to the formation of Al8(Mn,Fe)5 phases, the grain refinement and the increase of discontinuous Mg17Al12 precipitates along the grain boundaries.0.1 wt.%Mn addition has an obvious effect on accelerating the aging behavior of Mg-9Al-2Sn alloy at the early aging period up to 8 h,while 0.3 wt.%Mn addition alloy has an comparable aging behavior with the Mn-free alloy.Mn addition has less influence on the fracture behavior of Mg-9Al-2Sn alloy, while the fracture pattern is mainly determined by the thermal conditions.Mg-9Al-2Sn-0.1Mn alloy has the best combination of strength and elongation when aged at 200℃ for 8 h and the yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and elongation are 154 MPa,292MPa and 5%,respectively.Tianyu Zhu Penghuai Fu Liming Peng Xiaoyu Hu Shouru Zhu Wenjiang Ding 2014Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2014,2,1:3
