Conversion regular patterns of acetic acid, propionic acid and butyric acid in UASB reactor显示文摘On the basis of continuous tests and batch tests, conversion regular patterns of acetate, propionate and butyrate in activated sludge at different heights of the UASB reactor were conducted. Results indicated that the conversion capacity of the microbe is decided by the substrate characteristic when sole VFA is used as the only substrate. But when mixed substrates are used, the conversion regulations would have changed accordingly. Relationships of different substrates vary according to their locations. In the whole reactor, propionate’s conversion is restrained by acetate and butyrate of high concentration. On the top and at the bottom of the reactor, conversion of acetate, but butyrate, is restrained by propionate. And in the midst, acetate’s conversion is accelerated by propionate while that of butyrate is restrained. It is proved, based on the analysis of specific conversion rate, that the space distribution of the microbe is the main factor that affects substrates’ conversion. | 2 | Electrochemical top-down synthesis of C-supported Pt nanoparticles with controllable shape and size:Mechanistic insights and application显示文摘In this work,we demonstrate the power of a simple top-down electrochemical erosion approach to obtain Pt nanoparticle with controlled shapes and sizes(in the range from-2 to-10 nm).Carbon supported nanoparticles with narrow size distributions have been synthesized by applying an alternating voltage to macroscopic bulk platinum structures, such as disks or wires.Without using any surfactants, the size and shape of the particles can be changed by adjusting simple parameters such as the applied potential, frequency and electrolyte composition. For instance, application of a sinusoidal AC voltage with lower frequencies results in cubic nanoparticles;whereas higher frequencies lead to predominantly spherical nanoparticles. On the other hand, the amplitude of the, sinusoidal signal was found to affect the particle size;the lower the amplitude of the applied AC signal, the smaller the resulting particle size.Pt/C catalysts prepared by this approach showed 0.76 A/mg mass activity towards the oxygen reduction reaction which is-2 times higher than the state-of-the-art commercial Pt/C catalyst(0.42 A/mg)from Tanaka. In addition to this,we discussed the mechanistic insights about the nanoparticle formation pathways. | Batyr Garlyyev Sebastian Watzele Johannes Fichtner Jan Michalicka Alexander Schokel Anatoliy Senyshyn Andrea Perego Dingjie Pan Hany A.El-Sayed Jan M.Macak Plamen Atanassov Iryna V.Zenyuk Aliaksandr S.Bandarenka | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,8: | 2
Review of brain-computer interface based on steady-state visual evoked potential显示文摘The brain-computer interface(BCI)technology has received lots of attention in the field of scientific research because it can help disabled people improve their quality of life.Steady-state visual evoked potential(SSVEP)is the most researched BCI experimental paradigm, which offers the advantages of high signal-to-noise ratio and short training-time requirement by users. In a complete BCI system, the two most critical components are the experimental paradigm and decoding algorithm. However,a systematic combination of the SSVEP experimental paradigm and decoding algorithms is missing in existing studies. In the present study, the transient visual evoked potential,SSVEP,and various improved SSVEP paradigms are compared and analyzed, and the problems and development bottlenecks in the experimental paradigm are finally pointed out.Subsequently, the canonical correlation analysis and various improved decoding algorithms are introduced, and the opportunities and challenges of the SSVEP decoding algorithm are discussed. | Siyu Liu Deyu Zhang Ziyu Liu Mengzhen Liu Zhiyuan Ming Tiantian Liu Dingjie Suo Shintaro Funahashi Tianyi Yan | 2022 | Brain Science Advances2022,8,4: | 1
Exogenous Spermidine Promotes Somatic Embryogenesis of Cunninghamia lanceolata by Altering the Endogenous Phytohormone Content显示文摘In order to study how exogenous hormones in C.lanceolata(gymnosperm)regulate somatic embryogenesis,we measured the endogenous phytohormones of two genotypes with different somatic embryogenesis efficiency and found that an increase in endogenous concentrations of IAA and ABA may be correlated to more efficient somatic embryogenesis.By applying exogenous spermidine,we found that exogenous hormones may affect somatic embryogenesis efficiency through affecting the endogenous phytohormone content.Based on these results, further studies can be conducted whereby the concentration of exogenous hormones or the levels of endogenous phytohormones by molecular methods are regulated to promote somatic embryogenesis. Our research may benefit the long-term economic output of the forestry industry and lays the foundation to studying the molecular mechanism that controls somatic embryogenesis efficiency. | Dandan Wang Yulin Guo Xiaofei Long Yan Pan Dingjie Yang Rui Li Ye Lu Ying Chen Jisen Shi Jinhui Chen | 2020 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2020,89,1: | 1

Claw-shaped flexible and low-impedance conductive polymer electrodes for EEG recordings: Anemone dry electrode显示文摘Electroencephalogram(EEG) signals provide important brain information in healthcare settings. Wet electrodes have several limitations, including their time-consuming preparation and no long-term acquisition, and dry electrodes have become a promising candidate. However, dry electrodes face several challenges related to signal quality, comfort, conductivity and cost. This study aims to develop and evaluate a novel dry electrode for EEG recordings. The electrode material properties are characterized by electrochemical, mechanical force, and skin measurements. The electrode performance is evaluated by comparing the impedance, signal-to-noise ratio(SNR), and EEG signal features of the proposed electrode with those of a wet electrode and two commercial dry electrodes. The dry electrode design is based on the biological structure of the sea anemone and demonstrates an improved scalp fit and reduced signal noise and motion artifacts. The electrode materials include advanced conducting polymers combined with thermoplastic elastomers(TPEs) and carbon nanotubes(CNTs), which exhibit good electrical conductivity, mechanical properties, and safety. A low-cost injection molding fabrication method is proposed. The dry electrodes show a scalp contact impedance of 7 kΩ at 20 Hz, which is lower than that of wet and commercial dry electrodes.Resting-state EEG and event-related potential signals collected by the anemone dry electrode achieved more than 90% similarity with signals acquired by wet electrodes. Thus, a low-cost, comfortable anemone dry electrode that exhibits excellent EEG recording performance is presented. The anemone dry electrode represents an important technological advance in material and structural design for EEG recording sensors. | SHI ZhongYan JIANG Bo LIANG ShiChao ZHANG JiangTao SUO DingJie WU JingLong CHEN DuanDuan PEI GuangYing YAN TianYi | 2023 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,1: | 1

Insights into the architecture of human-induced polygenic selection in Duroc pigs显示文摘Background:As one of the most utilized commercial composite boar lines,Duroc pigs have been introduced to China and undergone strongly human-induced selection over the past decades. However, the efficiencies and limitations of previous breeding of Chinese Duroc pigs are largely understudied. The objective of this study was to uncover directional polygenic selection in the Duroc pig genome, and investigate points overlooked in the past breeding process. Results:Here,we utilized the Generation Proxy Selection Mapping(GPSM)on a dataset of 1067 Duroc pigs with 8,766,074 imputed SNPs.GPSM detected a total of 5649 putative SNPs actively under selection in the Chinese Duroc pig population, and the potential functions of the selection regions were mainly related to production, meat and carcass traits.Meanwhile,we observed that the allele frequency of variants related to teat number(NT)relevant traits was also changed, which might be influenced by genes that had pleiotropic effects.First,we identified the direction of selection on NT traits by G,and further pinpointed large-effect genomic regions associated with NT relevant traits by selection signature and GWAS.Combining results of NT relevant traits-specific selection signatures and GWAS,we found three common genome regions, which were overlapped with QTLs related to production, meat and carcass traits besides“teat number”QTLs.This implied that there were some pleiotropic variants underlying NT and economic traits. We further found that rs346331089 has pleiotropic effects on NT and economic traits,e.g.,litter size at weaning(LSW),litter weight at weaning(LWW),days to 100 kg(D100),backfat thickness at 100 kg(B100),and loin muscle area at 100 kg(L100)traits.Conclusions:The selected loci that we identified across methods displayed the past breeding process of Chinese Duroc pigs, and our findings could be used to inform future breeding decision. | Zitao Chen Jinyan Teng Shuqi Diao Zhiting Xu Shaopan Ye Dingjie Qiu Zhe Zhang Yuchun Pan Jiaqi Li Qin Zhang Zhe Zhang | 2023 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,1: | 0
