| 1 | Crop Phenomics and High-Throughput Phenotyping:Past Decades,Current Challenges,and Future Perspectives显示文摘Since whole-genome sequencing of many crops has been achieved,crop functional genomics studies have stepped into the big-data and high-throughput era.However,acquisition of large-scale phenotypic data has become one of the major bottlenecks hindering crop breeding and functional genomics studies.Nevertheless,recent technological advances provide us potential solutions to relieve this bottleneck and to explore advanced methods for large-scale phenotyping data acquisition and processing in the coming years.In this article,we review the major progress on high-throughput phenotyping in controlled environments and field conditions as well as its use for post-harvest yield and quality assessment in the past decades.We then discuss the latest multi-omics research combining high-throughput phenotyping with genetic studies.Finally,we propose some conceptual challenges and provide our perspectives on how to bridge the phenotype-genotype gap.It is no doubt that accurate high-throughput phenotyping will accelerate plant genetic improvements and promote the next green revolution in crop breeding. | Wanneng Yang Hui Feng Xuehai Zhang Jian Zhang John H.Doonan William David Batchelor Lizhong Xiong Jianbing Yan | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,2: | 38 |

| 3 | Metal–Organic Framework-Assisted Synthesis of Compact Fe_2O_3 Nanotubes in Co_3O_4 Host with Enhanced Lithium Storage Properties显示文摘Transition metal oxides are promising candidates for the high-capacity anode material in lithium-ion batteries.The electrochemical performance of transition metal oxides can be improved by constructing suitable composite architectures. Herein, we demonstrate a metal–organic framework(MOF)-assisted strategy for the synthesis of a hierarchical hybrid nanostructure composed of Fe_2O_3 nanotubes assembled in Co_3O_4 host. Starting from MOF composite precursors(Fe-based MOF encapsulated in a Cobased host matrix), a complex structure of Co_3O_4 host and engulfed Fe_2O_3 nanotubes was prepared by a simple annealing treatment in air. This paper presents an exhaustive literature survey of smart cities. First, it introduces the origin and main issues facing the smart city concept, and then presents the fundamentals of a smart city by analyzing its definition and application domains. | 6 | Sequential slip transfer of mixed-character dislocations across Σ3 coherent twin boundary in FCC metals: a concurrent atomistic-continuum study显示文摘Sequential slip transfer across grain boundaries(GB)has an important role in size-dependent propagation of plastic deformation in polycrystalline metals.For example,the Hall–Petch effect,which states that a smaller average grain size results in a higher yield stress,can be rationalised in terms of dislocation pile-ups against GBs.In spite of extensive studies in modelling individual phases and grains using atomistic simulations,well-accepted criteria of slip transfer across GBs are still lacking,as well as models of predicting irreversible GB structure evolution.Slip transfer is inherently multiscale since both the atomic structure of the boundary and the long-range fields of the dislocation pile-up come into play.In this work,concurrent atomistic-continuum simulations are performed to study sequential slip transfer of a series of curved dislocations from a given pile-up onΣ3 coherent twin boundary(CTB)in Cu and Al,with dominant leading screw character at the site of interaction.A Frank-Read source is employed to nucleate dislocations continuously.It is found that subject to a shear stress of 1.2 GPa,screw dislocations transfer into the twinned grain in Cu,but glide on the twin boundary plane in Al.Moreover,four dislocation/CTB interaction modes are identified in Al,which are affected by(1)applied shear stress,(2)dislocation line length,and(3)dislocation line curvature.Our results elucidate the discrepancies between atomistic simulations and experimental observations of dislocation-GB reactions and highlight the importance of directly modeling sequential dislocation slip transfer reactions using fully 3D models. | Shuozhi Xu Liming Xiong Youping Chen David L McDowell | 2016 | npj Computational Materials2016,,1: | 4 |
| 7 | Shaking table tests and dynamic analyses of masonry wall buildings with frame-shear walls at lower stories显示文摘This paper describes shaking table tests of three eight-story building models: all are masonry structures in the upper stories, with or without frame-shear walls of oneor twostories at the bottom. The test results of damage characteristics and seismic responses are provided and compared. Then, nonlinear response analyses are conducted to examine the reliability of the dynamic analysis. Finally, many nonlinear response analyses are performed and it is concluded that for relatively hard sites under a certain lateral stiffness ratio (i.e., the ratio of the stiffness of the lowest upper masonry story to that of the frame- shear wall story), the masonry structure with one-story frame-shear wall at the bottom performs better than a structure built entirely of masonry, and a masonry structure with frame-shear wall of two stories performs better than with one-story frame- shear wall. In relatively soft soil conditions, all three structures have similar performane. | 12 | Enhanced thermoelectric performance of two dimensional MS2(M=Mo,W)through phase engineering显示文摘The potential application of monolayer MS2(M?Mo,W)as thermoelectric material has been widely studied since the first report of successful fabrication.However,their performances are hindered by the considerable band gap and the large lattice thermal conductivity in the pristine 2H phase.Recent discoveries of polymorphism in MS2s provide new opportunities for materials engineering.In this work,phonon and electron transport properties of both 2H and 1T0 phases were investigated by first-principle calculations.It is found that upon the phase transition from 2H to 1T0 in MS2,the electron transport is greatly enhanced,while the lattice thermal conductivity is reduced by several times.These features lead to a significant enhancement of power factor by one order of magnitude in MoS2 and by three times in WS2.Meanwhile,the figure of merit can reach up to 0.33 for 1T0eMoS2 and 0.68 for 1T0eWS2 at low temperature.These findings indicate that monolayer MS2 in the 1T0 phase can be promising materials for thermoelectric devices application.Meanwhile,this work demonstrates that phase engineering techniques can bring in one important control parameter in materials design. | Bin Ouyang Shunda Chen Yuhang Jing Tianran Wei Shiyun Xiong Davide Donadio | 2018 | Journal of Materiomics2018,4,4: | 2 |
| 13 | Source-sink relations and responses to sink-source manipulations during grain filling in wheat显示文摘The source-sink ratio during grain filling is a critical factor that affects crop yield in wheat,and the main objective of this study was to determine the source-sink relations at both the canopy scale and the individual culm level under two nitrogen(N)levels at the post-jointing stage.Nine widely-used cultivars were chosen for analyzing source-sink relations in southwestern China;and three typical cultivars of different plant types were subjected to artificial manipulation of the grain-filling source-sink ratio to supplement crop growth measurements.A field experiment was conducted over two consecutive seasons under two N rates(N+,150 kg ha^(-1);N-,60 kg ha^(-1)),and three manipulations were imposed after anthesis:control(Ct),removal of flag and penultimate leaves(Lr)and removal of spikelets on one side of each spike(Sr).The results showed that the single grain weights in the three cultivars were significantly decreased by Lr and increased by Sr,which demonstrated that wheat grain yield potential seems more source-limited than sink-limited during grain filling,but the source-sink balance was obviously changed by climatic variations and N deficient environments.Grain yield was highly associated with sink capacity(SICA),grain number,biomass,SPAD values,and leaf area index during grain filling,indicating a higher degree of source limitation with an increase in sink capacity.Therefore,source limitation should be taken into account by breeders when SICA is increased,especially under non-limiting conditions.Chuanmai 104,a half-compact type with a mid-sized spike and a long narrow upper leaf,showed relatively better performance in source-sink relations.Since this cultivar showed the characteristics of a lower reduction in grain weight after Lr,a larger increase after Sr,and a lower reduction in post-anthesis dry matter accumulation,then the greater current photosynthesis during grain filling contributed to the grain after source and sink manipulation. | WU Xiao-li LIU Miao LI Chao-su Allen David(Jack)MCHUGH LI Ming XIONG Tao LIU Yu-bin TANG Yong-lu | 2022 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2022,21,6: | 2 |
