| 1 | Incidence and mortality rate of esophageal cancer has decreased during past 40 years in Hebei Province,China显示文摘Background:Hebei province is located in North of China with of approximately 6% of whole national population.It is known as a high-risk area for esophageal cancer in China and worldwide.The aim of our study was to estimate the esophageal cancer burden and trend in Hebei Province.Methods:Eight cancer registries in Hebei Province submitted cancer registry data to the Hebei Provincial Cancer Registry Center.All data were qualified and compiled for cancer statistics in 2011.The pooled data were stratified by gender and age group(0,1-4,5-9,10-14…80+).Incidence and mortality rates were age-standardized to World Segi's population standard and expressed per 100,000 persons.In addition,proportions and cumulative incidence/mortality rates for esophageal cancer were calculated.Esophageal cancer mortality data during the periods 1973-1975,1990-1992,and 2004-2005 were extracted from the national death surveys.Mortality and incidence rate data from Cixian and Shexian were obtained from population-based cancer registries in each county.Results:The estimated number of newly diagnosed esophageal cancer cases and deaths in 2011 in Hebei Province was 24,318 and 18,226,respectively.The crude incidence rate of esophageal cancer was 33.37/100,000(males,42.18/100,000 and females,24.31/100,000).The age-standardized rate by world standard population(ASRW) was 28.09/100,000,ranking third among all cancers.The esophageal cancer mortality rate was 25.01/100,000(males,31.40/100,000 and females,18.45/100,000),ranking third in deaths among all cancers.The mortality rates of esophageal cancer displayed a significant decreasing trend in Hebei Province from 1973-1975(ASRW =48.69/100,000) to 2004-2005(ASRW =28.02/100,000),with a decreased rate of 42.45%.In Cixian,the incidence of esophageal cancer decreased from 250.76/100,000 to 106.74/100,000 in males and from 153.86/100,000 to 75.41/100,000 in females,with annual percentage changes(APC) of 2.13 and 2.16,while the mortality rates declined with an APC of 2.46 for males and 3.10 for females from 1988 to 2011.In Shexian,the incidence rate decreased from 116.90/100,000 to 74.12/100,000 in males and from 46.98/100,000 to 40.64/100,000 in females,while the mortality rates declined,with an APC of 4.89 in males from 2003 to 2011.Conclusions:Although the incidence and mortality rates of esophageal cancer remain high,an obvious decreasing trend has been observed in Hebei Province,as well as in high-risk regions,such as Cixian and Shexian,over the past 40 years. | Yutong He Yan Wu Guohui Song Yongwei Li Di Liang Jing Jin Denggui Wen Baoen Shan | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2015,27,6: | 22 |

| 3 | Synchronization and bursting transition of the coupled Hindmarsh-Rose systems with asymmetrical time-delays显示文摘The study of synchronization and bursting transition is very important and valuable in cognitive activities and action control of brain as well as enhancement for the reliability of the cortex synapses. However, we wonder how the synaptic strength and synaptic delay, especially the asymmetrical time-delays between different neurons can collectively influence their synchronous firing behaviors. In this paper, based on the Hindmarsh-Rose neuronal systems with asymmetrical time-delays, we investigate the collective effects of various delays and coupling strengths on the synchronization and bursting transition. It is shown that the interplay between delay and coupling strength can not only enhance or destroy the synchronizations but also can induce the regular transitions of bursting firing patterns. Specifically, as the coupling strength or time-delay increasing, the firing patterns of the time-delayed coupling neuronal systems consistently present a regular transition, that is, the periods of spikes during the bursting firings increase firstly and then decrease slowly. In particular, in contrast to the case of symmetrical time-delays,asymmetrical time-delays can lead to the paroxysmal synchronizations of coupling neuronal systems, as well as the concentration level of synchronization for the non-identically coupled system is superior to the one of identical coupling. | 4 | Estimated cancer incidence and mortality in Hebei province,2012显示文摘Objective: This study estimates the numbers of new cancer cases and cancer deaths in Hebei province using incidence and mortality data from 9 population-based cancer registries in 2012.Methods: The data of new diagnosed cancer cases and cancer deaths in 2012 were collected from 9 population-based cancer registries of Hebei province in 2015. All the data met the National Central Cancer Registry of China(NCCR) criteria of data quality. The pooled data analysis was stratified by areas(urban/rural), gender, age group(0, 1-4, 5-9, 10-14, …, 85+) and cancer type. New cancer cases and deaths in Hebei province were estimated using age-specific rates and corresponding provincial population in 2012. The 10 most common cancers in different groups and the cumulative rates were calculated. Chinese population census in 2000 and Segi's population were used for age-standardized incidence/mortality rates. Results: All cancer registries covered 4,986,847 populations, 6.84% of Hebei provincial population(2,098,547 in urban and 2,888,300 in rural areas). The percentage of cases morphologically verified(MV%) and death certificate-only cases(DCO%) were 76.40% and 4.72%, respectively. The mortality to incidence rate ratio(M/I) was 0.64. In 2012, it is estimated that there were about 187,900 new diagnosed cancer cases and 119,800 cancer deaths in Hebei province. The incidence rate of cancer was 258.12/100,000(275.75/100,000 in males, 239.78/100,000 in females), and the age-standardized incidence rates by Chinese standard population(ASIRC) and by world standard population(ASIRW) were 210.65/100,000 and 208.50/100,000, with the cumulative incidence rates(0-74 years old) of 24.46%. The cancer incidence and ASIRC were 256.99/100,000 and 211.32/100,000 in urban areas and 258.94/100,000 and 209.99/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. The cancer mortality rate was 164.63/100,000(201.85/100,000 in males, 125.92/100,000 in females). Agestandardized mortality rates by Chinese standard population(ASMRC) and by world standard population(ASMRW) were 137.30/100,000 and 137.39/100,000 with the cumulative mortality rate(0-74 years old) of 14.58%, respectively. The cancer mortality rate in rural areas(167.16/100,000) was higher than that in urban areas(161.16/100,000). The most common cancers were lung cancer, stomach cancer, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer and colorectal cancer, which accounted for 72.31% of all cancer cases. Lung cancer, stomach cancer, liver cancer, esophageal cancer and colorectal cancer were the major causes of cancer death in Hebei province, which accounted for 75.24% of all cancer deaths. | 5 | Improving control effects of absence seizures using single-pulse alternately resetting stimulation (SARS) of corticothalamic circuit显示文摘Presently,we develop a simplified corticothalamic(SCT)model and propose a single-pulse alternately resetting stimulation(SARS)with sequentially applying anodic(A,“+”)or cathodic(C,“−”)phase pulses to the thalamic reticular(RE)nuclei,thalamus-cortex(TC)relay nuclei,and cortical excitatory(EX)neurons,respectively.Abatement effects of ACC-SARS of RE,TC,and EX for the 2 Hz-4 Hz spike and wave discharges(SWD)of absence seizures are then concerned.The m∶n on-off ACC-SARS protocol is shown to effectively reduce the SWD with the least current consumption.In particular,when its frequency is out of the 2 Hz-4 Hz SWD dominant rhythm,the desired seizure abatements can be obtained,which can be further improved by our proposed directional steering(DS)stimulation.The dynamical explanations for the SARS induced seizure abatements are lastly given by calculating the averaged mean firing rate(AMFR)of neurons and triggering averaged mean firing rates(TAMFRs)of 2 Hz-4 Hz SWD. | Denggui FAN Yanhong ZHENG Zecheng YANG Qingyun WANG | 2020 | Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2020,41,9: | 4 |
| 6 | Depositional setting analysis using seismic sedimentology: Example from the Paleogene Lishagang sequence in the Fushan depression,South China Sea显示文摘The Fushan depression is a classic lacustrine rifted sub-basin in the Beibuwan Basin, South China Sea. The Paleogene Liushagang sequence is the main hydrocarbon-bearing stratigraphic unit in the depression.Using three-dimensional(3-D) seismic data and logging data, we analyzed depositional setting of the Liushagang sequence. We use wave impedance inversion to describe progradational directions of provenance and the general distribution of sand body. The seismic facies was analyzed by using the seismic sedimentology approach based on 3-D seismic data, and summed into eight types of seismic facies which could be well related to sedimentary facies. Seismic attributes with six objective sequence boundaries were extracted. Consequently, four provenance system of Liushagang sequence in the study area were confirmed by the corresponding relationship between the geologic information and the warm color and higher value area of seismic attributes:(i) the Hainan uplift provenance area in the south,(ii)the Linggao uplift provenance area in the west,(iii) the Yunlong uplift provenance area in the east and(iv) the northern provenance area. | 7 | Early Age of Onset, Multiple Primary Malignancies and Poor Prognosis Are Indicative of an Inherited Predisposition to Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Familial Rather Than Sporadic Disease- An Update Based on 14- to 23-year Follow-up显示文摘<正> OBJECTIVE To demonstrate the effects of an inheritedpredisposition to familial esophageal squamous cellcarcinoma (ESCC) through the comparison and analysis of theclinicopathologic differences between familial and sporadic ESCCcases.METHODS Differences in age of onset, prevalence rates ofdouble primary ESCC, and survival rates between familial ESCC (n= 476) and sporadic ESCC cases (n = 1226) were analyzed.RESULTS Overall, familial ESCC cases showed a significantlyyounger age of onset (51.9 ± 8.2 vs. 53.4 ± 8.0, P_(t-test) = 0.00), asignificantly higher prevalence rate for double ESCC (2.73 % vs.1.22%, adjusted with TNM:χ_(MH)~2= 4.029, P = 0.045), and a lowersurvival rate than in sporadic cases (P_(wald) = 0.04). The familial casesshowed both a younger age of onset and poorer survival in mostsubgroups, and the differences were more marked in early-stagerather than in the late-stage disease groups.CONCLUSION Theses findings confirm the existence of familialas opposed to sporadic ESCC. | 10 | NATURAL HISTORY OBSERVATION FOR ESOPHAGEAL AND CARDIA PRECURSORS BY REPETITIVE ENDOSCOPIC SCREENING OF 301 SUBJECTS IN SHEXIAN显示文摘OBJECTIVE To investigate the natural history of fast developing esopha- geal and cardia precursors. METHODS Repetitive endoscopic screenings were performed among 40-69-year-olds in the high-incidence areas for esophageal cancer in Shexian. RESULTS The initial diagnosis and the lag-time for 7 subsequently identified severe dysplasia(SD)subjects were as follows:in one subject 13 months after a baseline diagnosis of normal epithelium,in another subject 7 months after a baseline diagnosis of base cell hyperplasia(BCH),in four subjects 3,4,4,and 10.5 months after baseline diagnosis of mild dysplasia (mD),and in one subject 12.5 months after a baseline diagnosis of moder- ate dysplasia(MD).The initial diagnosis and the lag-time for 6 subsequently identified carcinomas in situ or intramucosal carcinoma cases were:in one case 48 months after a baseline diagnosis of mD,in 2 cases 4 and 13 months after baseline diagnoses of MD,and in the other 3 cases 3.5,9,and 17.5 months after baseline diagnoses of SD.The initial diagnosis and lag- time for 3 subsequently identified invasive cancer cases were:in one case 50 months after a baseline diagnosis of MD,in 2 cases 14 and 19 months after baseline diagnoses of SD.In addition,during a 4-year-fol ow-up of 18 subjects after endoscopic mucosa resection,9 of them were found to have developed precursors again at other sites,and also additional findings were obtained for 11 of the 16 dysplasia cases by repetitive biopsy in less than 2 months after the initial endoscopy. | 13 | Regulating absence seizures by tri-phase delay stimulation applied to globus pallidus internal显示文摘In this paper,a reduced globus pallidus internal(GPI)-corticothalamic(GCT)model is developed,and a tri-phase delay stimulation(TPDS)with sequentially applying three pulses on the GPI representing the inputs from the striatal D_(1)neurons,subthalamic nucleus(STN),and globus pallidus external(GPE),respectively,is proposed.The GPI is evidenced to control absence seizures characterized by 2 Hz–4 Hz spike and wave discharge(SWD).Hence,based on the basal ganglia-thalamocortical(BGCT)model,we firstly explore the triple effects of D_(1)-GPI,GPE-GPI,and STN-GPI pathways on seizure patterns.Then,using the GCT model,we apply the TPDS on the GPI to potentially investigate the alternative and improved approach if these pathways to the GPI are blocked.The results show that the striatum D_(1),GPE,and STN can indeed jointly and significantly affect seizure patterns.In particular,the TPDS can effectively reproduce the seizure pattern if the D_(1)-GPI,GPE-GPI,and STN-GPI pathways are cut off.In addition,the seizure abatement can be obtained by well tuning the TPDS stimulation parameters.This implies that the TPDS can play the surrogate role similar to the modulation of basal ganglia,which hopefully can be helpful for the development of the brain-computer interface in the clinical application of epilepsy. | Songan HOU Denggui FAN Qingyun WANG | 2022 | Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2022,43,9: | 0 |
