1Effects of free-air CO_2 enrichment on adventitious root development of rice under low and normal soil nitrogen levels显示文摘Free air CO2 enrichment(FACE) and nitrogen(N) have marked effects on rice root growth,and numerical simulation can explain these effects. To further define the effects of FACE on root growth of rice, an experiment was performed, using the hybrid indica cultivar Xianyou63. The effects of increasing atmospheric CO2 concentration [CO2], 200 μmol mol-1higher than ambient, on the growth of rice adventitious roots were evaluated, with two levels of N: low(LN, 125 kg ha-1) and normal(NN, 250 kg ha-1). The results showed a significant increase in both adventitious root number(ARN) and adventitious root length(ARL) under FACE treatment. The application of nitrogen also increased ARN and ARL, but these increases were smaller than that under FACE treatment. On the basis of the FACE experiment, numerical models for rice adventitious root number and length were constructed with time as the driving factor. The models illustrated the dynamic development of rice adventitious root number and length after transplanting, regulated either by atmospheric [CO2] or by N application.The simulation result was supported by statistical tests comparing experimental data from different years, and the model yields realistic predictions of root growth. 2Estimation of Remote Sensing and Analysis of Temporal and Spatial Distribution of Grassland LAI显示文摘To estimate the leaf area index(LAI)in large areas,this paper analyzes the relationships between normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)and the grassland LAI based on MODIS data in the southern grassy mountains and slopes of China.By using nonlinear fitting equation we constructed the basic estimation model of grassland LAI with NDVI as the independent variable and introduced precipitation and temperature as regulatory factors.The model was validated with observed data in different years and the results showed that there was a good correlation between the simulated and observed LAI value with a statistically significant level of R2.RMSE was 0.302 and RRMSE was 0.154.It was also found that the spatial distribution of grassland LAI in south China showed a remarkable zonal characterization,and temporal distribution showed a single peak curve.These results provided a theoretical basis for the effective management of southern grassland resources and the carbon sink estimation of the nationwide grasslands.Chengming SUN Tao LIU Doudou GUO Ting TIAN Lijian WANG Yingying CHEN Jianlong LI 2013Asian Agricultural Research2013,5,11:0
3Enhancing maize's nitrogen-fixing potential through ZmSBT3, a gene suppressing mucilage secretion∞显示文摘Maize(Zea mays)requires substantial amounts of nitrogen,posing a challenge for its cultivation.Recent work discovered that some ancient Mexican maize landraces harbored diazotrophic bacteria in mucilage secreted by their aerial roots.To see if this trait is retained in modern maize,we conducted a field study of aerial root mucilage(ARM)in 258 inbred lines.We observed that ARM secretion is common in modern maize,but the amount significantly varies,and only a few lines have retained the nitrogen‐fixing traits found in ancient landraces.The mucilage of the high‐ARM inbred line HN5‐724 had high nitrogen‐fixing enzyme activity and abundant diazotrophic bacteria.Our genome‐wide association study identified 17 candidate genes associated with ARM across three environments.Knockouts of one candidate gene,the subtilase family gene ZmSBT3,confirmed that it negatively regulates ARM secretion.Notably,the ZmSBT3 knockout lines had increased biomass and total nitrogen accumulation under nitrogen‐free culture conditions.High ARM was associated with three ZmSBT3 haplotypes that were gradually lost during maize domestication,being retained in only a few modern inbred lines such as HN5‐724.In summary,our results identify ZmSBT3 as a potential tool for enhancing ARM,and thus nitrogen fixation,in maize.Jingyang Gao Peijiang Feng Jingli Zhang Chaopei Dong Zhao Wang Mingxiang Chen Zhongliang Yu Bowen Zhao Xin Hou Huijuan Wang Zhaokun Wu Razia Sultana Jemim Haidong Yu Doudou Sun Pei Jing Jiafa Chen Weibin Song Xuecai Zhang Zijian Zhou Jianyu Wu 2023Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,12:0
4Nitrate transporter NRT1.1 and anion channel SLAH3 form a functional unit to regulate nitrate-dependent alleviation of ammonium toxicity显示文摘Ammonium(NH_(4)^(+))and nitrate(NO_(3)^(-))are major inorganic nitrogen(N)sources for plants.When serving as the sole or dominant N supply,NH_(4)^(+)often causes root inhibition and shoot chlorosis in plants,known as ammonium toxicity.NO_(3)^(-) usually causes no toxicity and can mitigate ammonium toxicity even at low concentrations,referred to as nitrate-dependent alleviation of ammonium toxicity.Our previous studies indicated a NO_(3)^(-) efflux channel SLAH3 is involved in this process.However,whether additional components contribute to NO_(3)^(-)-mediated NH_(4)^(+)detoxification is unknown.Previously,mutations in NO_(3)^(-) transporter NRT1.1 were shown to cause enhanced resistance to high concentrations of NH_(4)^(+).Whereas,in this study,we found when the high-NH_(4)^(+) medium was supplemented with low concentrations of NO_(3)^(-),nrt1.1 mutant plants showed hyper-sensitive phenotype instead.Furthermore,mutation in NRT1.1 caused enhanced medium acidification under high-NH_(4)^(+)/Iow-NO_(3)^(-) condition,suggesting NRT1.1 regulates ammonium toxicity by facilitating H+uptake.Moreover,NRT1.1 was shown to interact with SLAH3 to form a transporter-channel complex.Interestingly,SLAH3 appeared to affect NO_(3)^(-) influx while NRT1.1 influenced NO_(3)^(-) efflux,suggesting NRT1.1 and SLAH3 regulate each other at protein and/or gene expression levels.Our study thus revealed NRT1.1 and SLAH3 form a functional unit to regulate nitrate-dependent alleviation of ammonium toxicity through regulating NO_(3)^(-) transport and balancing rhizosphere acidification.Chengbin Xiao Doudou Sun Beibei Liu Xianming Fang Pengcheng Li Yao Jiang Mingming He Jia Li Sheng Luan Kai He 2022Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2022,64,4:0
5Influence of dissolved organic matter on methylmercury transformation during aerobic composting of municipal sewage sludge under different C/N ratios显示文摘Current knowledge about the transformation of total mercury and methylmercury(Me Hg) in aerobic composting process is limited. In this study, the composition and transformation of mercury and dissovled organic matter(DOM) in aerobic composting process of municipal sewage sludge were were comprehensively characterized, and the differences among the three C/N ratio(20, 26 and 30) were investigated. The main form of mercury in C/N 20 and 26 was organo-chelated Hg(F3, 46%-60%);while the main form of mercury in C/N 30 was mercuric sulfide(F5, 64%-70%). The main component of DOM in C/N 20 and 26 were tyrosine-like substance(C1, 53%-76%) while the main fractions in C/N 30 were tyrosine-like substance(C1, 28%-37%) and fulvic-like substance(C2, 17%-39%). The mercury and DOM varied significantly during the 9 days composting process. Compared to C/N 20 and 26, C/N 30 produced the less Me Hg after aerobic composting process, with values of 658%(C/N 20), 1400%(C/N 26) and 139%(C/N 30) of the initial, respectively. Meanwhile, C/N 30 produced the best compost showed greater degree of DOM molecular condensation and humification. Hg fraction had been altered by DOM, as indicated by a significant correlation between mercury species and DOM components. 6Experimental study on the anti-inflammatory effect of Mongolian medicine Sendeng Decoction on mice with psoriasis显示文摘Psoriasis is a chronic papulosquamous skin disease occurring worldwide caused by varieties of factors.The recipe of Mongolian medicine Sendeng Decoction was recorded in“The Pleasure of the Viewer”compiled by Jigwood Danjinzhamusu.Mongolian medicine clinical experience proved that Sendeng Decoction had good antipyretic,analgesic,anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatism effect.However,the mechanism of this drug in psoriasis is still unclear.In this study,imiquimod cream(IMQ)was used to construct psoriasis model in 8-week-old male BALB/c mice,and Sendeng Decoction was used to treat the mice with psoriasis.The results showed that PASI score and spleen index decreased after Sendeng Decoction treatment.Meanwhile,HE staining showed that the pathological structure was improved,flow cytometry results showed that the proportion of Treg cells increased and Th17 cells decreased,and results of Western blot showed that the level of p38 MAPK,p-p38 MAPK,p-STAT3 and p-JAK1 decreased observably.More importantly,the above results were most significant in Sendeng's M group,which was similar to MTX group.Our results indicated that Mongolian medicine Sendeng Decoction can effectively relieve the symptoms of psoriasis mice induced by IMQ,mainly by regulating the ratio of Th17/Treg cells through the JAK/STAT and p38 MAPK pathways to reduce the inflammatory state in mice,thereby improving the symptoms of dermatitis.Li Sun Guanyu Yu Huiming Jiang Kun Shi Doudou Huang Hashen Bao Yanping Huang Limuge Che Meijuan Chen 2022Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2022,,4:0
