| 1 | Enteral nutrition in treatment of severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘Objective: To observe the role and the timing of EN inthe treatment of patients with severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).Methods: Eleven patients with severe acute pancreatitisunderwent systemic nutrition support were studied.EN was given through jejunostomy tube (or Beng-mark tube) after a period of PN maintenance. ENstarted when serum and urine amylase activity re-turned to normal with regular peristaltic sound, defe-cation or break wind. The sequence of preparationwas as follows: saline glucose→chemically defined di-et→polymeric diet→normal diet.Results: In all the patients, none died. The rate of latecomplications was lower, and the levels of serum albu-min and transferritin significantly increased in thepost-EN period as compared with the pre-EN period,although the count of lymphocytes was less changed.Conclusions: Nutritional support should be trans-formed from PN to EN as early as possible during thetreatment of patients with severe acute pancreatitis. | 2 | Positive Selection Analysis of VP1 Genes of Worldwide Human Enterovirus 71 Viruses显示文摘Human enterovirus 71 viruses have been long circulating throughout the world. In this study, we performed a positive selection analysis of the VP1 genes of capsid proteins from Enterovirus 71 viruses. Our results showed that although most sites were under negative or neutral evolution, four positions of the VP1 genes were under positive selection pressure. This might account for the spread and frequent outbreaks of the viruses and the enhanced neurovirulence. In particular, position 98 might be involved in neutralizing antibodies, modulating the virus-receptor interaction and enhancing the virulence of the viruses. Moreover, both positions 145 and 241 might correlate to determine the receptor specificity. However, these positions did not display much difference in amino acid polymorphism. | 3 | Structural Comparison and Drug Screening of Spike Proteins of Ten SARS-CoV-2 Variants显示文摘SARS-CoV-2(severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2)has evolved many variants with stronger infectivity and immune evasion than the original strain,including Alpha,Beta,Gamma,Delta,Epsilon,Kappa,lota,Lambda,and 21H strains.Amino acid mutations are enriched in the spike protein of SARS CoV-2.which plays a crucial role in cell infetion.However,the impact of these mutations on protein structure and function is unclear.Understanding the pathophysiology and pandemic feaures of these SARS-CoV-2 variants requires knowledge of the spike protein structures.Here,we obtained the spike protein structures of 10 main globally endemic SARS CoV-2 strains using AlphaFold2.The clustering analysis based on structural similarity revealed the unique features of the mainly pandemic SARS CoV-2 Delta variants.indicating that structural clusters can reflect the current characteristics of the epidemic more accurately than those based on the protein sequence.The analysis of the binding afinities of ACE2-RBD,antibody-NTD,and antibody-RBD complexes in the different variants revealed that the recognition of antibodies against SI NTD and RBD was decreased in the variants,especally the Delta variant compared with the original strain,which may induce the immune evasion of SARS-CoV-2 variants.Furthermore,by virtual screening the ZINC database against a high-accuracy predicted structure of Delta spike protein and experimental validation,we identified multiple compounds that target S1 NTD and RBD,which might contribute towards the development of clinical anti-SARS-CoV-2 medicines.Our findings provided a basic foundation for future in vitro and in vivo investigations that might speed up the development of potential therapies for the SARS-CoV-2 va riants. | Qiangzhen Yang Xuemin Jian Ali Alamdar Shah Syed Aamir Fahira Chenxiang Zheng zijia Zhu Ke Wang Jinmai Zhang Yangin Wen Zhiqiang Li Dun Pan Tingting Lu Zhuo Wang Yongyong Shi | 2022 | Research2022,,2: | 2 |
| 4 | Selection Pressure on Haemagglutinin Genes of H9N2 Influenza Viruses from Different Hosts显示文摘Positive selection and differential selective pressure analyses were carried out to study Haemagglutinin (HA) genes of H9N2 influenza viruses from different hosts in this paper. Results showed that, although most positions in HAs were under neutral or purifying evolution, a few positions located in the antigenic regions and receptor binding sites were subject to positive selection and some of them were even positively selected at the population level. In addition, there were always some positions differentially selected for viruses from different hosts. | 5 | Wideband CMOS variable gain amplifier with decibel-linear gain control characteristic显示文摘This paper presents a wideband variable gain amplifier(VGA) featuring a decibel-linear gain control characteristic. The decibel-linear gain control function is realized using two VGA cells and a control signal converter. The bandwidth is extended by using cascode architecture together with active inductive load. To achieve small parasitic and low area,direct current(DC) coupling is adopted in the circuit while a DC offset cancellation(DCOC) circuit is introduced to cancel the DC offset. Fabricated in a 0.18 μm complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS) process, the chip occupies an area of 0.53 mm×0.48 mm(including pads) and draws a total current of 9 mA from a 1.8 V supply. The measurement results show that the gain of the VGA varies from-40 dB to 18 dB while the control voltage varies from 0 to 1.8 V, resulting in a total gain control range of 58 dB. | 7 | Microsurgical Resection of Pituitary Adenoma via Single-Nostril Transsphenoidal Approach显示文摘OBJECTIVE To explore the methods and experience of thesingle-nostril transsphenoidal approach for treating pituitaryadenomas.METHODS We retrospectively analyzed 46 patients whohad pituitary tumors and received surgery via the singlenostriltranssphenoidal approach and observed the effects andcomplications of surgery. The specific surgical methods are: a nasalspeculum is inserted slowly through the right nostril towards theanterior wall of the sphenoid sinus. A 1.5 cm incision is made intothe nasal mucosa in the right nasal cavity at the level of the middlenasal turbinate. By fracturing the bony septum, a space is formedbetween the bilateral nasal mucosa and the bony septum of thesphenoid sinus. Then, the inside of the sphenoid sinus is exposed.The remaining part of the bony septum, the anterior sphenoidsinus wall, and the sphenoid mucosa are gradually removed. Theanterior sphenoidotomy is less than 1.5 cm wide. After confirmingthe tumor by dural puncture, a cross incision of the dura is made,and the tumor is slowly removed by curette. The sella is usuallycollapsed and visible after the total tumor removal. When thetumor is resected satisfactorily, gelatin sponges are placed into theoperative cavity to stop bleeding.RESULTS Postoperative MRI scans revealed that among the 46cases, total resection of the tumor was achieved in 34 cases andsubtotal in 12. No deaths or disability occurred, and the hormonelevels of almost all patients improved. In high-income countries, national studies have revealed that more than a quarter of births are performed by CS, while in China the rate increased from 28.8% in 2008 to 34.9% in2014[1]—far above the World Health Organization(WHO)-recommended rate of 10%–15%. | 9 | Genetic dissection of root morphological traits as related to potassium use efficiency in rapeseed under two contrasting potassium levels by hydroponics显示文摘To reveal the genetic basis of potassium use efficiency(KUE) in rapeseed, root morphology(RM), biomass and KUE-related traits were measured in a recombinant inbred line population with 175 F7 lines that were subjected to high-potassium(HK) and low-potassium(LK) treatments by hydroponics. A total of 109 significant QTLs were identified to be associated with the examined traits. Sixty-one of these QTLs were integrated into nine stable QTLs. The higher heritability for RM and biomass traits and lower heritability for KUE-related traits, as well as nine stable QTLs for RM traits and only two for KUE-related traits,suggested that regulating RM traits would be more effective than selecting KUE traits directly to improve KUE by markerassisted selection. Furthermore, the integration of stable QTLs identified in the HK, LK, high-nitrogen(HN) and low-nitrogen(LN) conditions gave 10 QTL clusters. Seven of these clusters were classified into major QTLs that explained 7.4%–23.7% of the total phenotypic variation. Five of the major QTL clusters were detected under all of the treated conditions, and four clusters were specifically detected under the LK and LN conditions. | 10 | Ultrasound-triggered piezocatalytic composite hydrogels for promoting bacterial-infected wound healing显示文摘Wound healing has become one of the basic issues faced by the medical community because of the susceptibility of skin wounds to bacterial infection.As such,it is highly desired to design a nanocomposite hydrogel with excellent antibacterial activity to achieve high wound closure effectiveness.Here,based on ultrasound-triggered piezocatalytic therapy,a multifunctional hydrogel is designed to promote bacteria-infected wound healing.Under ultrasonic vibration,the surface of barium titanate(BaTiO_(3),BT)nanoparticles embedded in the hydrogel rapidly generate reactive oxygen species(ROS)owing to the established strong built-in electric field,endowing the hydrogel with superior antibacterial efficacy.This modality shows intriguing advantages over conventional photodynamic therapy,such as prominent soft tissue penetration ability and the avoidance of serious skin phototoxicity after systemic administration of photosensitizers.Moreover,the hydrogel based on N-[tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl]acrylamide(THM),N-(3-aminopropyl)methacrylamide hydrochloride(APMH)and oxidized hyaluronic acid(OHA)exhibits outstanding self-healing and bioadhesive properties able to accelerate full-thickness skin wound healing.Notably,compared with the widely reported mussel-inspired adhesive hydrogels,OHA/THM-APMH hydrogel due to the multiple hydrogen bonds from unique tri-hydroxyl structure overcomes the shortage that catechol groups are easily oxidized,giving it long-term and repeatable adhesion performance.Importantly,this hybrid hydrogel confines BT nanoparticles to wound area and locally induced piezoelectric catalysis under ultrasound to eradicate bacteria,markedly improving the therapeutic biosafety and exhibits great potential for harmless treatment of bacteria-infected tissues. | Dun Liu Lei Li Ben-Long Shi Bo Shi Ming-Ding Li Yong Qiu Di Zhao Qun-Dong Shen Ze-Zhang Zhu | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,6: | 0 |
