| 1 | Induction of Tolerance to Fusarium Wilt and Defense-Related Mechanisms in the Plantlets of Susceptible Berangan Banana Pre-Inoculated with Pseudomonas sp.(UPMP3) and Burkholderia sp.(UPMB3)显示文摘This study is aimed at assessing the ability of two endophytic bacteria originally isolated from healthy oil palm roots,Pseudomonas sp.(UPMP3) and Burkholderia sp.(UPMB3) to induce resistance in susceptible Berangan banana against Fusarium oxysporum race 4(FocR4).Increased accumulation of resistance-related enzymes such as peroxidase(PO),phenylalanine ammonia lyase(PAL),lignithioglycolic acid(LTGA),and pathogenesis-related(PR) proteins(chitinase and β-1,3-glucanase) has been observed in plantlets treated with endophytic bacteria UPMP3 and UPMB3 singly or as mixture under glasshouse conditions.Pre-inoculation of banana plantlets with UPMP3 showed a significant reduction in Fusarium wilt incidence 72 d after challenged inoculation with FocR4.UPMB3 was less effective in suppressing Fusarium wilt compared to UPMP3,whereas,the mixture of both endophytes showed an intermediate effect.Based on these results,it is concluded that UPMP3 could be a promising biological control agent that can trigger resistance against Fusarium wilt in susceptible Berangan banana. | Elya Masya Mohd Fishal Sariah Meon Wong Mui Yun | 2010 | Agricultural Sciences in China2010，9，8： | 15 |
| 2 | Antimicrobial activity of green tea extract against isolates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and multi-drug resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa显示文摘Objective:To evaluate antibacterial activity of the Indonesian water soluble green tea extract,Camellia sinensis,against clinical isolates of methicillin-resistantStaphylococcus aureus (S.aureus)(MRSA)and multi-drug resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa(MDR-P.aeruginosa).Methods:Antimicrobial activity of green tea extract was determined by the disc diffusion method and the minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)was determined by the twofold serial broth dilutions method.The tested bacteria using in this study were the standard strains and multi-drug resistant clinical isolates of S.aureus and P.aeruginosa,obtained from Laboratory of Clinical Microbiology,Faculty of Medicine,University of Indonesia.Results:The results showed that the inhibition zone diameter of green tea extracts forS.aureus ATCC 25923 and MRSA were(18.970依0.287)mm,and(19.130依0.250)mm respectively.While the inhibition zone diameter forP.aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and MDR-P.aeruginosawere(17.550依0.393)mm and(17.670依0.398)mm respectively.The MIC of green tea extracts againstS.aureus ATCC 25923 and MRSA were 400μg/mL and 400μg/mL,respectively,whereas the MIC for P.aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and MDR-P.aeruginosawere 800μg/mL,and 800μg/mL,respectively.Conclusions:Camellia sinensisleaves extract could be useful in combating emerging drug-resistance caused by MRSA andP.aeruginosa. | Maksum Radji Rafael Adi Agustama Berna Elya Conny Riana Tjampakasari | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013，3，8： | 8 |
