| 1 | Association between Helicobacterpylori, Epstein-Barr virus, human papillomavirus and gastric adenocarcinomas显示文摘AIM To correlate Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori), Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) and human papillomavirus(HPV) with gastric cancer(GC) cases in Pará State, Brazil.METHODS Tissue samples were obtained from 302 gastric adenocarcinomas. A rapid urease test was used to detect the presence of H. pylori, and the presence of the cagA gene in the HP-positive samples was confirmed by PCR. An RNA in situ hybridization test designed to complement Eber1 RNA was used to detect the presence of EBV in the samples, and the L1 region of HPV was detected using nested PCR. Positive HPV samples were genotyped and analyzed for E6 and E7 viral gene expression. Infections were also correlated with the clinical and pathological characteristics of the patients.RESULTS The majority of the 302 samples analyzed were obtained from men(65%) aged 55 years or older(67%) and were classified as the intestinal subtype(55%). All three pathogens were found in the samples analyzed in the present study(H. pylori : 87%, EBV: 20%, HPV: 3%). Overall, 78% of the H. pylori-positive(H. pylori+) samples were cag A +(H. pylori-cag A+), and there was an association between the cytotoxic product of this gene and EBV. Coinfections of H. pylori-cagA+ and EBV were correlated with the most advanced tumor stages. Although only 20% of the tumors were positive for EBV, infection with this virus was associated with distant metastasis. Only the HPV 16 and 18 strains were found in the samples, although no expression of the E6 and E7 oncoproteins was detected. The fundus of the stomach was the region least affected by the pathogens.CONCLUSION HPV was not involved in gastric tumorigenesis. Prophylactic and therapeutic measures against H. pylori and EBV may prevent the development of GC, especially the more aggressive forms. | Carolina Rosal Teixeira de Souza Marcelli Carolini Alves Almeida Andre Salim Khayat Emerson Lucena da Silva Paulo Cardoso Soares Luiz Claudio Chaves Rommel Mario Rodriguez Burbano | 2018 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2018,24,43: | 6 |

| 7 | Hematological reference values and animal welfare parameters of BALB/C-FMABC (Mus musculus) inoculated with Ehrlich tumor kept in the vivarium at ABC Medical School显示文摘Background:Biochemical and hematological parameters are important tools for assessing the physiological profile of vital organs, and can be recorded to create reference values used for clinical diagnosis of diseases. Many research laboratories lack the means to establish their own set of reference parameters for use in their research, and while there are articles in the literature that discuss laboratory parameters for healthy BALB/c mice, few studies address the evaluation of these parameters in pathological situations, such as in mice inoculated with Ehrlich tumor.Method:BALB/c-FMABC mice previously inoculated with Ehrlich tumor were maintained under appropriate conditions.Blood samples were taken for analysis of hematological parameters using automated and semi-automated equipment to create a set of the animal welfare parameters for evaluation.Result:Results were obtained for all the hematological parameters for all groups analyzed. These showed:statistically significant differences between the initial and final tumor weight;comparable initial tumour volume and weight;an increase in leukocytes in the 7-day group with a characteristic predominance of lymphocytes and neutrophils;statistically significant changes in RDW in the 21-day group and in the welfare parameters in the 28-day group. Conclusion:The study successfully defined and established reference values for hematological and welfare parameters for all groups analyzed. | Patrick Gabriel dos Santos Pessini Paula Regina Knox de Souza Camila dos Santos Chagas Emily Garcia Sampaio Daniel Santos Neves Giuliana Petri Fernando Luiz Affonso Fonseca Emerson Barbosa da Silva | 2020 | Animal Models and Experimental Medicine2020,3,1: | 0 |

| 9 | Ecological intensification of cropping systems enhances soil functions, mitigates soil erosion, and promotes crop resilience to dry spells in the Brazilian Cerrado显示文摘Water scarcity threatens global food security and agricultural systems are challenged to achieve high yields while optimizing water usage.Water deficit can be accentuated by soil physical degradation, which also triggers water losses through runoff and consequently soil erosion.Although soil health in cropping systems within the Brazilian Cerrado biome have been surveyed throughout the years, information about soil erosion impacts and its mitigation are still not well understood;especially concerning the role of cropping system diversification and its effects on crop yield. Thus, the aim of this study was to assess whether ecological intensification of cropping systems-inclusion of a consorted perennial grass and crop rotation-could promote soil coverage and consequently decrease water erosion and soil, water, and nutrient losses. This work studied the effects of crop rotation and consorted Brachiaria, along with different levels of investment in fertilization on soil physical quality and on soil, water, and nutrient losses, and crop yields. Results proved that soybean monoculture(SS)is a system of low sustainability even under no-till in the Brazilian Cerrado conditions. It exhibited high susceptibility to soil, water, and nutrient losses, causing low crop yields. Our results showed that water losses in SS cropping system were approximately 10%of the total annual rainfall, and total K losses would require an additional 35%of K application.Conversely, ecological intensification of cropping systems resulted in enhanced soil environmental and agronomic functions, increased grain yield, and promoted soil and water conservation:high soil cover rate, and low soil, water and nutrient losses.Ecological intensification proved to be an adequate practice to boost crop resilience to water deficit in the Brazilian Cerrado. | Lucas de Castro Moreira da Silva Junior Cesar Avanzi Devison Souza Peixoto Marina Neves Merlo Emerson Borghi Alvaro Vilela de Resende Salvador Francisco Acuna-Guzman Bruno Montoani Silva | 2021 | International Soil and Water Conservation Research2021,9,4: | 0 |
