1Characterization of interspecific hybrids and backcross progenies from a cross between Oryza minuta and Oryza sativa显示文摘Oryza minuta, a tetraploid wild relative of cultivated rice, is an important source for the genetic improvement. Interspecific hybrids were obtained from the cross of O. sativa L. (IR24) and O. minuta (Acc. No. 101133) with 5.58% crossability, which ranged from 0.11% to 1.62% in the backcross generations. The chromosome numbers of the backcross progenies were 24 to 48. Seven yield-related traits of the parents, hybrid F1, and backcross progenies were evaluated. Simple sequence repeat markers analysis showed that the polymorphism ratio of SSR bands between IR24 and Acc. No. 101133 was 93.2%. The average donor segment number, length, donor genome size, and percentage of donor genome of 92 BC3F1 plants (2n=24) were 24.1, 17.8 cM, 438.4 cM and 26.2%, respectively. They were complex variation and uneven among the chromosomes. 5EST-Based Identification of Genes Expressed in Skeletal Muscle of the Mandarin Fish (Siniperca chuatsi)显示文摘To enrich the genomic information of the commercially important fish species, we obtained 5,063 high-quality expressed sequence tags (ESTs) from the muscle cDNA database of the mandarin fish (Siniperca chuatsi). Clustering analysis yielded 1,625 unique sequences including 443 contigs (from 3,881 EST sequences) and 1,182 sin- gletons. BLASTX searches showed that 959 unique sequences shared homology to proteins in the NCBI non-redundant database. A total of 740 unique sequences were functionally annotated using Gene Ontology. The 1,625 unique sequences were assigned to Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes reference pathways, and the results indicated that transcripts participating in nucleotide metabolism and amino acid metabolism are relatively abundant in S. chuatsi. Meanwhile, we identified 15 genes to be abundantly expressed in muscle of the mandarin fish. These genes are involved in muscle structural formation and regulation of muscle differentiation and development. The most remarkable gene in S. chuatsi is nuclease diphosphate kinase B, which is represented by 449 EST sequences accounting for 8.86% of the total EST sequences. 6THE APPLICATION OF GIS IN URBAN PLANNING:ENVIRONMENTAL ZONING STUDY IN THE OLD CITY OF WENZHOU,CHINA显示文摘Due to rapid growth of population, urbanization and industrialization, in many cites of the developing world, there is severe contradiction between urban land supply and land demand which resulted in many urban land use conflicting situations and urban environment degrading. This paper is mainly focused on this problem, demonstrating the feasibility and efficiency of environmental study by integrating GIS and environmetal zoning method. Two neighbourhoods of the old city of Wenzhou were chosen as the study area. With the aid of GIS software PC Arc/info as dBate IV, an urhan environmental impact assessment study was carried out based on the data available such as land use map and detailed attribute data of each land planning unit. 8Molecular identification of asymmetric somatic hybrids between wheat and Italian ryegrass显示文摘Sexual incompatibility between common wheat and Italian ryegrass was an obstacle for transferring useful traits from italian ryegrass to wheat. In order to use those desirable genetic resources to improve wheat and to create new cytoplasmic germplasm, the protoplasts of wheat and Italian ryegrass were successfully electrofused and the somatic hybrid plants were regenerated. Examination with 6 restriction enzymes, 13 probes including 9 mtDNA probes (H454, Pst24, B30, Pro I, 490, B342, pHJ2-7-l, B376, 7), 3 cpDNA probes (pHvc p1, pHvc p5 and pHvc p8) and onenuclear DNA probe-pTA71 (rDNA) in total 73 enzyme/probe combinations revealed rich polymorphism between the fusion partners. RFLP analysis indicated that approximately 93.4% of the regenerated plants were true somatic hybrids. AFLP analysis implied that the somatic hybrids were highly asymmetric.
