Community structure and composition of the Cambrian Chengjiang biota显示文摘Based on previously published species data(228 species in over 18 phyla) and field sampling(114 species and 18406 individuals) in the Chengjiang-Haikou-Anning area,we analyzed quantitatively the paleocommunity composition and structure of the Cambrian Chengjiang biota(Cambrian Series 2,eastern Yunnan,China).Arthropods dominate the community both in species diversity(species:37%) and in abundance(individuals:51.8%).Priapulids(individuals:22.6%) and brachiopods(individuals:16.3%) follow in abundance rank. The arthropod Kunmingella douvillei(26.2%),the priapulid Cricocosmia jinning-ensis(15.4%),and the brachiopod Diandongia pista(11%) are the three most abundant species.Ecological analyses show that the community was dominated by epifaunal organisms(species:63%,individuals:68.4%) followed by infaunal organisms(species:11.9%,individuals:25.9%),nektobenthic organisms(species:11.5%,individuals:2.6%),and pelagic organisms(species:5.3%,individuals:3.1%).The diverse feeding strategies, dominated by suspension feeders(species:35.6%,individuals:26.1%) and hunter/scavengers(species:31.1%,individuals:40.4%),indicate the former existence of a complex food chain and intense competition.Epifaunal vagrant omnivores(28.2%),infaunal vagrant hunter/scavengers(19.8%),epifaunal sessile suspension feeders(17.7%),and epifaunal vagrant hunter/scavengers(15.3%) were the most abundant ecological groups, represented primarily by arthropods, poriferans, priapulids, and brachiopods.Ecological group analyses reveal that the early Cambrian Chengjiang biota is similar in community patterns and functional relations to modern biotas in shallow marine settings.ZHAO FangChen ZHU MaoYan HU ShiXue 2010Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,12:14
Cambrian integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China显示文摘The Cambrian Period is the first period of the Phanerozoic Eon and witnessed the explosive appearance of the metazoans, representing the beginning of the modern earth-life system characterized by animals in contrary to the Precambrian earth-life system dominated by microbial life. However, understanding Cambrian earth-life system evolution is hampered by regional and global stratigraphic correlations due to an incomplete chronostratigraphy and consequent absence of a highresolution timescale. Here we briefly review the historical narrative of the present international chronostratigraphic framework of the Cambrian System and summarize recent advances and problems of the undefined Cambrian stage GSSPs, in particular we challenge the global correlation of the GSSP for the Cambrian base, in addition to Cambrian chemostratigraphy and geochronology. Based on the recent advances of the international Cambrian chronostratigraphy, revisions to the Cambrian chronostratigraphy of China, which are largely based on the stratigraphic record of South China, are suggested, and the Xiaotanian Stage is newly proposed for the Cambrian Stage 2 of China. We further summarize the integrative stratigraphy of South China, North China and Tarim platforms respectively with an emphasis on the facies variations of the Precambrian-Cambrian boundary successions and problems for identification of the Cambrian base in the different facies and areas of China. Moreover, we discuss stratigraphic complications that are introduced by poorly fossiliferous dolomite successions in the upper Cambrian System which are widespread in South China, North China and Tarim platforms.Maoyan ZHU Aihua YANG Jinliang YUAN Guoxiang LI Junming ZHANG Fangchen ZHAO Soo-Yeun AHN Lanyun MIAO 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,1:8
A Chengjiang-type fossil assemblage from the Hongjingshao Formation(Cambrian Stage 3) at Chenggong, Kunming, Yunnan显示文摘A new Chengjiang-type fossil assemblage is reported herein from the lower part of the Hongjingshao Formation at Xiazhuang village of Chenggong,Kunming,Yunnan. The fossil assemblage, named as Xiazhuang fossil assemblage, yields predominantly soft-bodied fossils, including arthropods, brachiopods, priapulids, lobopods and some problematic taxa, with arthropods being the most dominant group.Preservation and composition of the fossil assemblage are very similar to the typical Chengjiang biota, which is preserved in the middle Yu’anshan Formation in the large area of eastern Yunnan. The associated trilobites demonstrate that the soft-bodied fossil assemblage belongs to the late Qiongzhusian in age(Stage 3,Cambrian),suggesting that the Hongjingshao Formation is probably a diachronous lithostratigraphic unit ranging from the upper Qiongzhusian to the lower Canglangpuan stages in eastern Yunnan. The fossil assemblage from the Xiazhuang area fills up the missing link between the typical older Chengjiang biota and the younger Malong and Guanshan biotas, making eastern Yunnan a unique area in the world to reveal the early evolutionary history of animals and palaeocommunity dynamics during the‘‘Cambrian explosion’’.Han Zeng Fangchen Zhao Zongjun Yin Guoxiang Li Maoyan Zhu 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,25:6
The middle Cambrian Linyi Lagerstatte from the North China Craton:a new window on Cambrian evolutionary fauna显示文摘The rapid appearance of major animal groups and complex marine communities during the Cambrian explosion is recorded in large part in Burgess Shale-type lagerstatten. However, the restricted temporal and spatial distribution of known lagerstatten continues to hinder the formation of a comprehensive perspective on Cambrian evolutionary faunas. Here we describe the Linyi Lagerstatte(ca.504 mya),a new Cambrian Miaolingian lagerstatte from the Zhangxia Formation in Shandong Province,North China. The Linyi Lagerstatte contains a variety of well-preserved soft-bodied fossils, among which the non-trilobite arthropods, particularly the mollisoniids and radiodonts, are the most important groups. The new assemblage is remarkable for its excellent preservation of arthropod limbs, eyes and guts,as well as for its close similarity in taxonomic composition to Laurentian lagerstatten. The distinctive Linyi Lagerst atte holds great promise for providing additional insights into the morphological disparity, community structure and paleogeographic range of marine faunas during the middle Cambrian(Miaolingian).Zhixin Sun Fangchen Zhao Han Zeng Cui Luo Heyo Van Iten Maoyan Zhu 2022National Science Review2022,9,7:5
Square Geometrical Shaping 128QAM Based Time Domain Hybrid Modulation in Visible Light Communication System显示文摘We proposed two kinds of visible light communication(VLC)systems which respectively based on 64QAM/square geometrical shaping(SGS)128QAM time domain hybrid modulation scheme(SGSHY)and 64QAM/128QAM time domain hybrid modulation scheme(REGHY).These two systems can operate around specific forward error correction(FEC)threshold and maximize the achievable information rate(AIR)of the system. The principles of SGSHY and REGHY are proposed in detail, which has very low computation complexity compared with probabilistic shaping. The SGSHY outperforms REGHY at high peak to peak voltage(Vpp).Experimental results show that at high Vpp like 1.4V,which means the system is suffering from high nonlinear distortion, the AIR of SGSHY outperforms that of REGHY by 0.12Gb/s at the 2×10-2 FEC threshold. The AIR of the REGHY is at most 0.36Gb/s higher than that of 64QAM at 0.8V Vpp and 7%FEC threshold, while the(achievable information rate)AIR of SGSHY is at most 0.40Gb/s higher than that of 64QAM at 1.4V Vpp and 20%FEC threshold.Peng Zou Yiheng Zhao Fangchen Hu Nan Chi 2020China Communications2020,17,1:2
Challenges and Prospects of Machine Learning in Visible Light Communication显示文摘Visible light communication(VLC)is a promising research field in modern wireless communication.VLC has its irreplaceable strength including rich spectrum resources,no electromagnetic disturbance, and high-security guarantee. However,VLC systems suffer from the non-linear effects that exist in almost every part of the system. As a part of artificial intelligence, machine learning(ML)is showing its potential in non-linear mitigating for its natural ability to fit all kinds of transfer functions, which may dramatically push the research in VLC.This paper introduces the application of ML in VLC,describes five recent research of deep learning applications in VLC,and analyses the performance.Nan Chi Junlian Jia Fangchen Hu Yiheng Zhao Peng Zou 2020Journal of Communications and Information Networks2020,5,3:0

Cryogenian and Ediacaran integrative stratigraphy, biotas, and paleogeographical evolution of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas显示文摘The complex evolutionary history of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas, including the continental blocks(Indian,Lhasa,South Qiangtang,Tarim,Olongbuluk,Central Qilian,Alxa,North China,Yangtze,Central Iran and Oman)and the orogenic belts between them, has long been the frontier in Earth science research. The Cryogenian and Ediacaran strata are extensively distributed in these blocks.Specifically, relatively complete Cryogenian and Ediacaran successions have been discovered in Oman,Indian,Yangtze, and Tarim blocks, while only the Ediacaran successions have been reported in Iran, the South Qiangtang,Central Qilian,Alxa, and North China blocks.Based on previous studies together with the integration of new materials and advancement obtained through the Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research, this review aims to synthesize a correlative stratigraphic framework of the representative Cryogenian and Ediacaran sequences from the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas.Furthermore, the Cryogenian and Ediacaran biotas and major geological events in these areas are comprehensively discussed in aspects of current research status. The results indicate that,in general,Ediacaran fossils of each area exhibit distinct features in preservation and assemblage composition, but the typical late Ediacaran fossils Cloudina and Shaanxilithes have been reported from most of these areas. In addition to the two global Cryogenian glaciations, late Ediacaran glaciogenic deposits are extensively recorded in the areas within and around the northern QinghaiTibetan Plateau(including the North China,Alxa,Central Qilian,Olongbuluk, and Tarim blocks, and the North Qilian Accretionary Belt),as well as central and southern Iran. However, further research is required to determine the age, distribution, and origin of these late Ediacaran glaciogenic deposits.Meanwhile, the middle Ediacaran DOUNCE/Shuram Excursion is widely documented in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas. The available data show that, after the break-up of the Rodinia supercontinent, most of the continental blocks in the areas were located along the northern margin of East Gondwana and a few(such as North China)were located between the Gondwana and Laurentia. In general, the paleogeographic evolution of most of these blocks during the Cryogenian and Ediacaran remains disputatious, necessitating further research to resolve the controversies surrounding their paleogeographic reconstruction models during this critical time interval.Lang SUN Malik Muhammad Saud Sajid KHAN Chuan YANG Zhixin SUN Bing PAN Shehryar AHMED Lanyun MIAO Weichen SUN Chunlin HU Xiaojuan SUN Cui LUO Bo CHEN Zongjun YIN Fangchen ZHAO Guoxiang LI Maoyan ZHU 2024Science China Earth Sciences2024,67,4:0
Cambrian integrative stratigraphy, biotas, and paleogeographical evolution of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas显示文摘The Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas have a long and complex tectonic evolutionary history.Cratons and blocks, such as northern India,Lhasa,Qiangtang,Qaidam and Central Qilian, and their in-between orogenic belts constitute the main part of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.During the Cambrian Period, most of these cratons and blocks were on the northwestern periphery of Gondwana, and were associated with the surrounding blocks,e.g.Arabian,Central Iran,Afghanistan,Tarim,Alxa,North China,South China and Sibumasu through the Proto-Tethys Ocean. The Cambrian stratigraphic sequences on these stable blocks are composed of mixed siliciclastic and carbonate rocks deposited in the shallow-water marine environments, and contain the trilobite assemblages of shelf facies. The Cambrian stratigraphic sequences in the Qilian tectonic belts, however, are characterized by the intermediate-basic igneous rocks and silicates formed in the Proto-Tethys Ocean, and contain the trilobite assemblages of deep-water slope facies.Combining with previous data, field observations and newly discovered fossils through funding by the Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research, the general characteristics of the Cambrian strata in different tectonic units of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas have been summarized in this paper.Furthermore, efforts have been made to subdivide and correlate the Cambrian strata across these areas by utilizing available biostratigraphic and geochronological data.As a result,a comprehensive litho-and biostratigraphy chart has been compiled. Finally, from the biogeographic perspective, this paper also provides a brief overview of the Cambrian paleogeographical reconstruction of the major tectonic blocks, and discusses the problems associated with the evolution of the ProtoTethys tectonic belt.Zhixin SUN Lang SUN Fangchen ZHAO Bing PAN Malik Muhammad Saud Sajid KHAN Shehryar AHMED Chuan YANG Lanyun MIAO Zongjun YIN Guoxiang LI Maoyan ZHU 2024Science China Earth Sciences2024,67,4:0
In vitro Germination and Micropropagation of Aconitum vilmorinianum:An Important Medicinal Plant in China显示文摘Aconitum vilmorinianum,a well-known traditional Chinese herb,is recently being threatened by overexploitation and environment disturbance. This study was conducted to provide propagation methods through in vitro germination and explant cultivation.Germination was stimulated up to 66.00%on Murashige and Skoog(MS)medium containing 2.0 mg L^(−1)6-benzylaminopurine(BAP),0.1 mg L^(−1)1-napthaleneacetic acid(NAA),and 30 g L^(−1)sucrose.Three bacteria(Pantoea agglomerans,Erwinia persicina, and Pseudomonas tolaasii)would be responsible for consistent contamination during germination. The latter two were effectively eradicated after disinfected. The influence of explant types and hormone combinations on direct and indirect organogenesis was evaluated in the present work. The frequency of shoot induction from axillary bud explants was 100%on the MS fortified with 2.0 mg L^(−1)BAP and 0.3 mg L^(−1)NAA.Shoots multiplication was optimized on MS medium supplemented with 0.1 mg L^(−1)thidiazuron(TDZ)and 0.1 mg L^(−1)NAA.High callus induction percentage(96.67%)was obtained from stem segments on MS medium with 2.0 mg L^(−1)2,4-D,then successfully regenerated into shoots on MS medium in the presence of 0.1 mg L^(−1)TDZ and 0.2 mg L^(−1)NAA.The present work could be useful for the utilization and conservation of this valuable species.Zongmin Mou Fei Ye Fangchen Shen Dake Zhao 2022Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,10:0
Overexpression of ZxABCG11 from Zygophyllum xanthoxylum enhances tolerance to drought and heat in alfalfa by increasing cuticular wax deposition显示文摘Drought and heat stresses cause yield losses in alfalfa,a forage crop cultivated worldwide.Improving its drought and heat tolerance is desirable for maintaining alfalfa productivity in hot, arid regions.Cuticular wax forms a protective barrier on aerial surfaces of land plants against environmental stresses.ABCG11encodes an ATP binding cassette(ABC) transporter that functions in the cuticular wax transport pathway. In this study,Zx ABCG11 from the xerophyte Zygophyllum xanthoxylum was introduced into alfalfa by Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation.Compared to the wild type(WT),transgenic alfalfa displayed faster growth, higher wax crystal density, and thicker cuticle on leaves under normal condition.Under either drought or heat treatment in greenhouse conditions, the plant height and shoot biomass of transgenic lines were significantly higher than those of the WT.Transgenic alfalfa showed excellent growth and 50% greater hay yield than WT under field conditions in a hot, arid region.Overexpression of Zx ABCG11 up-regulated wax-related genes and resulted in more cuticular wax deposition, which contributed to reduction of cuticle permeability and thus increased water retention and photosynthesis capacity of transgenic alfalfa. Thus, overexpression of Zx ABCG11 can simultaneously improve biomass yield, drought and heat tolerance in alfalfa by increasing cuticular wax deposition. Our study provides a promising avenue for developing novel forage cultivars suitable for planting in hot, arid, marginal lands.Linbo Liu Aike Bao Hujun Li Wanpeng Bai Haishuang Liu Ye Tian Yiying Zhao Fangchen Xia Suomin Wang 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,4:0
