3Animal models applied to acute-on-chronic liver failure:Are new models required to understand the human condition?显示文摘The liver is a multifaceted organ;its location and detoxifying function expose this organ to countless injuries.Acute-on-chronic failure liver(ACLF)is a severe syndrome that affects the liver due to acute decompensation in patients with chronic liver disease.An infection environment,ascites,increased liver enzymes and prothrombin time,encephalopathy and fast-evolving multiorgan failure,leading to death,usually accompany this.The pathophysiology remains poorly understand.In this context,animal models become a very useful tool in this regard,as understanding;the disease may be helpful in developing novel therapeutic methodologies for ACLF.However,although animal models display several similarities to the human condition,they do not represent all ACLF manifestations,resulting in significant challenges.An initial liver cirrhosis framework followed by the induction of an acute decompensation by administering lipopolysaccharide and D-Ga IN,potentiating liver damage supports the methodologies applied to induce experimental ACLF.The entire methodology has been described mostly for rats.Nevertheless,a quick Pub Med database search indicates about 30 studies concerning ACFL models and over 1000 regarding acute liver failure models.These findings demonstrate the clear need to establish easily reproducible ACFL models to elucidate questions about this quickly established and often fatal syndrome.Jaciara Fernanda Gomes Gama Liana Monteiro da Fonseca Cardoso Jussara Machado Lagrota-Candido LuizAnastacio Alves 2022World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,9:1

9An aqueous extract of Liu Wei Di Huang Wan alters the labeling of blood constituents with Technetium-99m显示文摘The Liu Wei Di Huang Wan is a formula of a traditional Chinese medicine that is used to treat asthma patients and has been shown to have several important properties,such as antioxidant and free radical scavenging activities.The influence of an extract of Liu Wei Di Huang Wan on the labeling of blood constituents with technetium-99m was investigated.Anticoagulated blood(Wistar rats) was incubated with the extract,stannous chloride and technetium-99m,as sodium pertechnetate.Samples were centrifuged and aliquots of plasma and blood cells were separated and precipitated with trichloroacetic acid,to obtain soluble and insoluble fractions of the blood constituents.The percentage of radioactivity(%ATI) in all the fractions was determined.The analysis of the results shows that the extract at the highest concentration used(70 mg/mL) decreased significantly(P<0.05) the %ATI(from 96.48 ± 1.19 to 54.46 ± 7.38) on blood cells compartment,(from 81.11 ± 4.15 to 61.33 ± 4.74) on insoluble fractions of blood cells and(from 65.91 ± 2.44 to 13.15 ± 3.62) on insoluble fractions of plasma.In conclusion,the results suggest that the substances present on this extract can alter this labeling process,probably due to(i) redox properties(antioxidant and chelator activities) and/or(ii) specific actions in the binding sites where the 99mTc would be bound on the blood constituents.As a consequence,precaution is suggested on the interpretation of the nuclear medicine results from performed with blood constituents labeled with 99m Tc in patients that have undertaken LWDHW,although the current findings were obtained in experimental animal models.MATOS Vernica Soares de CARMO Fernanda Santos do DINIZ Claudia Leite NASCIMENTO Ana Lucia Rosa PEREIRA Márcia Oliveira FERNANDES Joelma Fonseca de Oliveira SANTOS-FILHO Sebastiao David MORENO Silvana Ramos Farias BERNARDO-FILHO Mario 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,18:0
10Co-inoculation of selected nodule endophytic rhizobacterial strains with Rhizobium tropici promotes plant growth and controls damping off in common bean显示文摘Production of common bean(Phaseolus vulgaris)is limited by the occurrence of damping off(rhizoctoniosis),which is caused by the fungus Rhizoctonia solani.However,the co-inoculation of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR)involved in biological control along with diatomic nitrogen(N2)-fixing rhizobia can enhance N nutrition and increase production.In this context,finding microorganisms with synergistic effects that perform these two roles is of fundamental importance to ensure adequate yield levels.The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of co-inoculation of nodule endophytic strains of the genera Bacillus,Paenibacillus,Burkholderia,and Pseudomonas with Rhizobium tropici CIAT 899,an N2-fixing rhizobial strain,on the biocontrol of damping off and growth promotion in common bean plants.Greenhouse experiments were conducted under axenic conditions using the common bean cultivar Pérola.The first experiment evaluated the potential of the 14 rhizobacterial strains,which were inoculated alone or in combination with CIAT 899,for the control of R.solani.The second experiment evaluated the ability of these 14 rhizobacterial strains to promote plant growth with three manners of N supply:co-inoculation with CIAT 899 at low mineral N supply(5.25 mg N mL^-1),low mineral N supply(5.25 mg N mL^-1),and high mineral N supply(52.5 mg N mL^-1).The use of rhizobacteria combined with rhizobia contributed in a synergistic manner to the promotion of growth and the control of damping off in the common bean.Co-inoculation of the strains UFLA 02-281/03-18(Pseudomonas sp.),UFLA 02-286(Bacillus sp.),and UFLA 04-227(Burkholderia fungorum)together with CIAT 899 effectively controlled damping off.For the common bean,mineral N supply can be replaced by the co-inoculation of CIAT 899 with plant growth-promoting strains UFLA 02-281/02-286/02-290/02-293.Nodule endophytes UFLA02-281/02-286 are promising for co-inoculation with CIAT 899 in the common bean,promoting synergy with rhizobial inoculation and protection against disease.Linnajara DE VASCONCELOS MARTINS FERREIRA Fernanda DE CARVALHO Júlia FONSECA COLOMBO ANDRADE Damiany PáDUA OLIVEIRA Flávio Henrique VASCONCELOS DE MEDEIROS Fatima Maria DE SOUZA MOREIRA 2020Pedosphere2020,30,1:0
